Akane Tsunemori was the first fujoshi for describing Shinya Kogami and Shogo Makishima as "not just ships passing in the night. They understood each other better than anyone else and each was focused solely on the other."
#like this is the gayest way to describe two enemies you will ever find outside of fanfic#I understood what you meant Akane and it was still gay as hell💀#anyway watch psychopass. season 1 is peak fiction#psycho pass#psychopass#akane tsunemori#shinya kogami#shogo makishima#tsunemori akane#kogami shinya#makishima shogo#rambles of water and night

This scene. This is why everyone should watch Psycho-Pass S1. Because the whole season is a discussion on the intersection of the arts and humanity.
youtube
#you should also watch season 3 and the movies for different reasons#but give season 2 a hard pass because it is absolute garbage made worse by how good season 1 is#all the seasons and movies are basically standalone so it's not like you'll miss anything by skipping s2#the only season with major major spoilers is s1 so just be sure you start with that#makishima shogo#choe gu-sung#psycho pass#Youtube

Gino and Mika
I remember watching SS Case 1 a few years ago and loving the dynamic between Mika and Gino. And then when Season 3 and First Inspector came out, I really liked the few interactions we had there.
I will admit it's been a very long time since I've re-watched Season 1 or Season 2, so I can't remember a lot of the background (though I certainly need to find time to re-watch).
And I get that there are plenty of people that don't like this ship, which is fair, but for me, they work with an excellent power dynamic.
Gino is the older, wiser man who is in a socially inferior position. He has experience and wisdom learned a lot in his fall from grace and subsequent rising. Mika is young, naive, impetuous, but she has a good heart. She has the social upper hand, but lacks the experience and maturity to handle some of the things that come up in her line of work. Even in Season 3 and First Inspector, she's grown a lot, but she's still not as wise and she could one day be.
They create an interesting equilibrium, pairing the characters together the way they did in SS 1. It made for an engaging story (for me). And it really highlighted both of their characters and the changes they're going through so well. Mika is learning to slow down and breath, to stop and consider the people around her, even the latent criminals, as human beings with wants and needs. She is learning to look before she leaps. And Gino is learning how to look at the world from a more realistic experience. In a lot of ways I think it mirror's Ko's experiences in Season 1, with the benefit that Gino already knows that Akane will treat him as a human being first and an enforcer second, and that dynamic is (slowly) rubbing off on Mika too.
I haven't watched Providence yet. Might go watch it this week if I can make myself do the hour drive there and hour drive back, but I'm not expecting a ton of new content for them. Mostly shinkane (just the teasers alone satisfied my thirst for content for them for literally years).
I am interested in seeing where this dynamic might lead in the future.

Psycho Pass (Recommended- GHOST IN THE SHELL for Normies, well executed Cyberpunk for a new gen)
This holds up, a less political heavy, more normie friendly version of Ghost in the shell for a modern generation, but in a good way.
The social commentary is eerie relevant as well. The themes of individuality, society as a collective along the lines of 1984's Oceania vs the self and more so, specifically: apathy.
Season 1 is strongest because Akane's arc was in it's inception, she was the perfect entry point into the world. The innocent newbie that gradually gets hardened by the jobs harsh reality.
Much like the Anderson character in the DREDD movie, also recommended.
Kogami is one of the best parts about the show, that ragged, desensitized rule of cool character who's street smart, tough but smart.
Season 2 was decent, not as good, but it was interesting seeing Akane in the role of Kogami, as the seasoned Inspector.
Movie is a good sequel, though you technically don't NEED to binge S2 to watch it and follow.
Season 1 is the staple that really matters that begins the rest of the journey, if you have the time, go for it.
But S1 and the movie is all you need to try it.
Season 1 is well paced, it doesn't waste time jumping into the action. Because Akane is thrown in the situation things are explained to her in a way that feels natural, oddly well executed even for an anime by today's standards. But then again this leans into the seinen territory so naturally it will be better handled for the most part.
Not ALL the characters land, but it's a wide array of personalities that won't get on your nerves, no school shit, grownfolk business.
A lot of the philo-babble is mainly just fluff service, mainly to just pose the question: "What is society?", and the limitations of a new system that boils down the complexity of the human mind to number metrics
Not really for the show to answer it with a clear resolution but merely just intellectual dialog so the characters sound smart, or show sounds deep and it's fine.
SUB & DUB are good, this is one of those anime where It's good enough to where I mainly go Dub.
And most importantly, the villain is pretty interesting, and with an argument as to why he does what he does. Which serves as good storytelling device and propaganda. (And yes, Japan is a device for some heavy propaganda: ex. Godzilla)
But that doesn't mean it isn't good entertainment, that is when it isn't PDF baity bullshit.
It ain't perfect there's anime-isms here and there that get on my nerves which is why I don't re-watch it as much. (The Seasons, but the movie doesn't have that problem)
A decade later, the show (S1-Movie) still holds up.

Don't they already do AI-controlled drone strikes? I remember news about it 1-2 years ago. Give me a second to fact check myself.
Here's an article from npr posted June 1, 2021
There are several others from around that time frame.
So after looking up your article, what the US is doing is arguing against new laws to regulate AI weapons. They're already using them, they just don't want their usage to become restricted at all, so, as you say, a very bad sign.
This and multiple other articles in the same search mention continued development and plans to increase numbers so that's...great (sarcastic).
america is an evil-fucked-up-beyond-words-dystopia like actually this is the premise of psycho pass more or less what the actual fuck we need a revolution
#I will say in response to your psycho-pass comment and tagging:#at the very least this is currently restricted to military use and does not purport in any way to 'read minds'#but it's still bad#and it does seem like we get increasingly close to that dystopian future#especially on a technological level#since we are now capable of surveillance on an easily comparable level sans mind reading (sort of)#I wasn't planning to initially but let me explain:#currently it's used for advertising. every electronic device including those ridiculous screens instead of windows on supermarket freezers#we have the technology - those screens i mentioned in particular track your eyes and read your facial expression to tell whether you like#the products you're looking at#a crucial aspect of psycho-pass' premise is that the Sybil System doesn't *actually* work#It can't tell if someone actually *is* a criminal from their psycho-pass. It can tell that they seem like one and thus have a 'higher risk'#It is everyone believing in the system that makes it 'justifiable'#In some ways we've already surpassed the technology level in canon#spoilers for the end of season 1:#Since in 2014 when it was written the human brain was still far more powerful than AI#This is no longer the case and it would be ludicrous to use human brains instead of AI which is cheaper and runs on computers with a higher#processing power than human brains#With AI as integrated as it is becoming in our daily lifes and automated surveillance already here#One could easily train AI to do things that would probably be more effective than just reading faces#One could read patterns in searching. keystrokes. clicks. eye movements. what you say not just online but anywhere on a computer#One can track every location you go to. Combined with digital behavior this creates an image of your intentions#'it would be far too expensive to do this for every person'#well...they serve you custom ads#a lower threshold for sure. but my point is we're not that far away from a serious risk of automated justice for everyone#what they would do realistically is use your own devices' processing power plus some very eco-unfriendly server farms#and it would simply detect patterns in your behavior and flag it if it gets above a certain threshold of 'reason for concern'#ex: your phone tracks your location and you went to a protest...ah hold on that's already used to arrest protestors...#you get the point#the main thing is that as far as we know no one has invested enough *money* into the idea or else it would be happening

PSYCHO-PASS サイコパス (Season 1, 2012-2013)
The law doesn’t protect people. People protect the law. People have always detested evil and sought out a righteous way of living. The law is the accumulation of those people’s feelings.

PP Novels Resources (for my fellow deranged fans)
As a deranged PP fan, who was starving for dopamine I discovered some novel sources for the characters we all love! All novels/summary is in Russian (can be easily translated to English through Google Translation of the website. Use a VPN if the sites do not load)
If ya'll love the OG cast (Season 1), this is for you! I'm merely linking to the websites for your reading pleasure. I will try to link the ones that are complete, more under the cut.
*All due thanks to the dedicated translators who keep the fandom going* Psycho-Pass Zero
(Tumblr: Novel Translation *pending but I recommend reading this before the radio drama for plot coherence*) (Live Journal: Radio Drama Translation *complete*)
Content warning: Plastination case + Makishima is enough warning Timeline: Prequel to the Psycho-Pass S1 Kogami and Sasayama's bromance/outlines the gruesome murders in the Specimen case/follows the story of Touma Kozaburo and his obsession with Touko. Baby Kogami is so precious. Mitsuru Sasayama is the man, the legend. *sobs* Masaoka's whiskey persists + Ginoza the worrier.
Psycho-Pass Asylum: About A Girl (Live Journal: Detailed Summary *complete*) (Suggested Supplement: Yayoi/Shion Tidbits from PP Novel + Aoyanagi and Kozuki disaster)
Content warning: brutality against women, !pregnancy, !cultism, !infanticide. I'm not kidding when I mean it's brutal. Timeline: Post S1 with some flashbacks. Yayoi and Shion's relationship is the main focus. They investigate a case where pregnant minors are being sacrificed by a cult. Entirely from Yayoi's perspective, has many details about her past and how she and Shion feel about Division 1. I would encourage you to read this if you want a feminine/female perspective of the PP verse. Underlying themes of creativity, sex, romance, and hope + vital issues with the Sybil System. I added the supplement because it covers a bit more about Yayoi and Shion + explores the canon romantic relationships, I believe it is a good study of how PP handles canon relationships.
Psycho-Pass Asylum: Restaurant de Campagne Kagari Shuusei
(Live Journal: Detailed Summary *complete*)
Content warning: None, really. This one is quite wholesome as PP can be except for Sybil's shenanigans. Timeline: Prequel to S1 (Flashback) Kagari and Div 1 + 2 investigate a series of gastronomic malfunctions in Sybil's food preparation system caused by a criminal called 'Harlequin'. It involves a "natural food" supply company called Gusto and a restaurant owner. The novel explores Kagari's interest in cuisines and the impact of food in the PP world. Kagari's perspective is quite refreshing and light, compared to the complexity in other novels.
Psycho-Pass Asylum: Separation Ginoza Nobuchika (Live Journal: Detailed Summary *complete*)
Content warning: animal!cruelty, child!abuse, dogs. This one is a tearjerker. Timeline: Prequel to S1 + post S1 Inspector Ginoza, Kogami, and Sasayama investigate a case of rehabilitated animals/pets that are increasing the stress levels of Okutama, a remote place in the mountains. These pets were reintroduced and have gone feral. A doctor named Miyake was responsible for the reintroduction. Ginoza's calm yet poetic and wistful perspective is quite grounding. There's a sense of loss through this story, the theme of separation, and dogs being man's best friends. Any puns that made you think of Kogami are valid.
Psycho-Pass Asylum: Mungungwha Choe-Gu-Sung
(Live Journal: Detailed Summary *partial translation*)
Content warning: !torture, !mutilation, !castration, graphic, mentions of NK-orea. It's quite disturbing and angsty. MAJOR tearjerker. Timeline: Pre-S1 + follows the plot of S1. This follows the story of Choe-Gu Sung, Makishma's accomplice, and his entry and activities in Japan. Explores family life with his younger sister Suseon and his friend Guynthae. It covers a major portion of his backstory in N-K and his eventual friendship with Makishima. If you felt nothing for this guy in S1, believe me, you will be sobbing through this one. He deserved a better ending ftw.
That's all. If I find anything else, I'll add it in another post. Enjoy delving into the world of Psycho-Pass in-depth, and don't forget the words said by a certain Enforcer:
When it's all over, you can cry as much as you like.

Some Ninja Randy related art I just wanted to post right now. But it’s not just the og, but some different versions of him that I had made long time ago and decided to try drawing again today!
Oh boy, I haven’t thought of these guys in a very long time until now. Some of you who has seen some art from both my old account and the old ones in this account may know of them (expect for Bad Ending!Randy, I never really showed him, I think). And yes, I will kinda explain each one of them since the rest of you probably don’t know about them at all so here we go.
1. Evil! Randy
an evil version of Randy, with all the chaos pearls in his disposal now that the sorcerer is fully gone. And no, not in the way like in the season 2 finale but like…well.. let’s just say, he’s still trapped.
staying in the now abandoned norrisville high school (what happen to everyone in there? No body knows), Evil! Randy is mostly alone by himself, plotting and thinking about what to do next now that everything with him has changed.
If he ever does get a visitor in the school, he seems quite calm and wise towards them, showing them around and even asking them for favours to help him a little around the place, give him company as he haven’t had some in so long…..but don’t be fooled. Remember, those green orbs corrupts whoever has them and this Randy is no different.
Howard’s and the Nomicons whereabouts in this au? currently unknown.
The only new thing about him right now are those few green glowing cracks on his suit and all, I thought those would look cool on him.
——
2. Horror! Randy
Now you can easily find this guys story and first drawings of him on my account. Just click on the Rc9gn tag while staying on my account, scroll far down and you’ll find it. Easy peasy. But if you’re too lazy, I’ll give you a short(er) and quick version.
This Randy’s story takes place back in season 1, right after he just became the ninja and a few days passed. He meets some evil spirit who takes a form of a ninja and tricks him into thinking that it’s from the nomicon and that there’s people who are monsters in disguise’s that he has to ‘get rid of’. Because of this along with illusions from the spirit to make it more believable, he ends up killing lots of innocents, even Howard which he immediately feels tons of regret and guilt for.
At the end, Randy becomes a lonely mess, a lost cause, a paranoid psycho ninja who now can’t tell the difference between an actual monster and a human thanks to the manipulation of the fake ninja spirit who is now suddenly gone along with the illusions.
Basically, this is a fucked up Randy who suffers a lot and is very lonely. He does kill though.
—-
3. Disbelief! Randy
This Randy is kinda based on and inspired by the disbelief Papyrus Undertale Au. But instead of Papyrus with Sans jacket on, it’s the poor ninja boy with Howard’s. Most of this one is just Randy wearing the only thing he has left of his dead friend, trying to avenge him. Who or what got Howard killed? From what I remember (I never wrote any of these guys stories down) it was Mcfist and Viceroy, it was an accident with a robot of theirs. They never meant to have it kill the guy but it just…happen.
Damn, I have two au’s where Howard is dead. Good lord-
—-
4. Bad Ending! Randy
One I have never shown here before.
This was first a ‘what if’ thing. Like what if at the season 2 finale, in the battle between the sorcerer and Randy, it ended up terribly wrong? With Julian and Howard coming in too late, The sorcerer successfully stabs Randy deeply in the chest, making him be the one to lose and slowly die. The last things he got to see and hear at the end is a concerned Julian, a devastated crying Howard and the laughter of his enemy in the background.
After dying with one last breath, Randy ends up in a void. A blank, white, empty void with no one else but him, who is now mostly black and white, expect for the bleeding wound on his chest, a painful reminder of his defeat. Well, the nomicon is with him. However, he can’t communicate with it anymore.
Why? Because the book, that is also lost of color like the boy, seems to be corrupted. Not like evil corruption but just some kind of corruption that keeps it shut and quiet, no glowing, no beeps, nothing, having this sort of ink all over the cover that never stops dripping and keeps its pages sticky and shut tight.
Randy doesn’t understand this and the place he is stuck in but all he does know is he can’t get help anymore and he can’t even get to see what is going on in his home right now, though he assumes that it’s now slowly turning into a chaotic wasteland thanks to the sorcerer. All he can do now is cry and cry, mumbling to himself and getting mad at himself for losing so easily like that, probably even developing self hatred in the process.
There is actually some continuation i made for this with a good ending, where Randy somehow is able to fix the Nomicon, get out of the endless white void, get revived, reunite with Howard along with many others and finally defeat the sorcerer once and for all. Though that one never got finished and from what I remember, it’s not really canon and not a true ending to this au so….oops.
——————
But yeah, these are my Randy Au’s. There is kinda a few more but not really.

I love ship dynamics where person A passes by a rando doing psycho shit and being like: “what an idiot”
But then after a few more steps, they do a double-take and curse out loud: “wait a second, that’s MY idiot”
It fits Satosugu perfectly. Geto must collect his man whenever Gojo acts up in public.
Geto receiving a picture of Gojo haggling with a grandma for the last bag of fresh clementines that are on sale. Gojo is pink in the face from arguing - truly comedic.
Nanami: “this your man?”
Geto snorts, then types back: 👍🏼
(Gojo knows Geto loves clementines, so it was a no brainer for him to head into battle.)
***
Cue feral Gojo absolutely obliterating the special grade curses, Togo and Hanami, while Geto stood off to the side with a massive heart boner, thinking: “that’s my pookie” 😊
Gojo comes back to his side, purple blood on his face and crystal-blue eyes brimming with pride.
Geto wipes a drop of blood off Gojo’s cheek: “Did you have fun?”
Gojo: “SO MUCH FUN. Did you see me yank that one’s arm off? Ooh or when I ripped out the other one’s branches?”
Geto mentally revisits that part when Gojo practically purred, “So that’s where you’re weak!?”
Geto: “I saw everything, ‘Toru” 🥵
***
Throwback to JJK season 1 when Gojo finally got through the veil that specially kept HIM out. He was just floating in the air, hands fiddling together while smirking. Mans was PLOTTING.
(And everyone else was kinda fighting for their lives. 😭)
I’d like to think student Gojo also levitated and just zoomed through the air, laughing maniacally as he chased down the curses.
Geto and Shoko watched him from afar, one with endearment and one with slight boredom.
Shoko: “Are you gonna call him back?”
Geto: “No. He needs this.”
Five minutes - and a failed “Red” later - Shoko, Geto, and Gojo are running for their lives.
Geto: “I HATE YOU”
Gojo: “HOW WAS I SUPPOSED TO KNOW THERE WAS A MOTHER CURSE?”

I love Kou so much and I miss his s1 moments a lot. Like this moment right here, he’s literally so funny, casually replying with ‘yeah’ when Akane asks him if he’s just going to speak with him. He wasn’t actually planning on just ‘speaking with him’ at all lmao.
