ABOUT MACKENZIE
death tw
Mackenzie learned pretty early on that people aren’t in your life forever. Her mother's passing completely rewired her brain, even at her young age. She would constantly ask both Kurt and her father if they were going to die too, and would often stay awake throughout the night worrying that something was going to happen to them too. Mackenzie would slip into their rooms and check that they were still breathing and that they were okay. After several nights of Burt finding her doing this, he made her go see her first therapist. She was able to work through her anxiety enough to sleep through the night, and soon enough Mackenzie was back to acting like a young girl again.
That is to say, still an odd young girl. Instead of playing at recess, she’d stay behind in the classroom and read a book or have a conversation with her teacher instead. She preferred the company of adults, or just simply no one at all. As Mackenzie grew older, though, she found friends who enjoyed the same things that she did. It was a small group of friends, but a group of friends nonetheless.
Oftentimes, Mackenzie would bring home all different kinds of animals – wounded bunnies, lizards, stray cats, garden snakes, mice and even a few dogs. She’d nursed several squirrels back to life, much to her father’s chagrin. He learned quickly that there was no stopping her when it came to her love of animals. And even better for her, one of the dogs that she had brought home he agreed to let her keep only if she was the only one to take care of him. She named the dog Marshmallow, and kept up her word of taking care of him.
Mackenzie never cared for the spotlight that came with her father’s job, and she tried her best to stay away from anyone that was a fan of him just because it made her all uncomfortable. She preferred the quiet – cuddling with Marshmallow and playing any video game that she could get her hands on, but preferably any version of The Sims. When she wasn’t at school, she was playing The Sims.
When going to PSU, Mackenzie knew she wanted to work with animals. She studied to become a Veterinary Technician, and school was an absolute breeze for her – she loved learning, and when it was something that she was passionate about, it was that much easier for her. During her years at college, Mackenzie tried her hand at posting YouTube videos of her playing video games. She continuously posted, and started to grow a following there. She then decided to start streaming on Twitch, going live several hours every single day. Mackenzie created a community on both YouTube and Twitch which she’s incredibly proud of.
Now, Mackenzie is working her dream job of Veterinary Technician, while continuing to post both on YouTube and Twitch. She’s got the perfect schedule down and knows that it makes her busy, but she doesn’t mind. She’s still got Marshmallow, and now two other dogs as well, and she feels as if she’s thriving. Her life is quiet, yes, but that’s exactly what she prefers.
FAMILY BACKGROUND
cancer tw, death tw
Burt Hummel comes from a humble beginning, and really never had any intentions of becoming famous. Working for his father’s garage, Hummel Tires & Lube, he developed an interest in cars, and proved to be pretty damn good at what he did. A twist of fate saw him approached to help out with some behind-the-scenes things for Top Gear by a customer who happened to work on the show. This opportunity led to yet another, even bigger twist of fate, with Burt meeting the woman he would go on to marry, up-and-coming actress, Elizabeth Blake.
As the two grew together, so did their respective careers; Elizabeth booked bigger and bigger acting gigs until she was a household name, while Burt, whose stint on Top Gear showed him to be a natural in front of the camera, was propelled into a life of presenting for various television shows. They relocated to Los Angeles, and their fame began to grow, along with their family, until Elizabeth eventually got sick in the late-noughties, then lost a quick but mighty battle with cancer. Burt took a break from the limelight following his wife’s passing, opening a new Hummel Tires & Lube location in LA, before deciding to go back to presenting a few years later.
Now, Burt presents on Top Gear, where he got his real start, and also hosts a talk show, The Late Show with Burt Hummel, where he interviews celebrity guests and is often praised for his ability to entertain the audience with his dry humor and build a quick rapport with his guests. While he never dated anybody seriously since losing Elizabeth, Burt has recently begun dating Carole Hudson, but they’re not ready to make things public just yet.

KURT HUMMEL
☆ FULL NAME: Kurt Elizabeth Hummel ☆ GENDER: Cisman ☆ PRONOUNS: He/Him ☆ AGE: 30 (May 27th, 1994) ☆ TYPE: Full sibling; solo ☆ HOMETOWN: Portland, Oregon ☆ JOB: Fashion Designer/Stylist ☆ SCHOOL: PSU Alumni ☆ SEXUALITY: Homosexual ☆ FACECLAIM: Nicholas Galitzine
ABOUT KURT
Kurt’s world changed when his mom died. His mom was the only one who understood him and supported his likes and interests. She helped him create outfits for his stuffed animals and his action figures, she sang and danced along with him to musicals. She was his best friend. At first, Kurt cried himself to sleep every night, missing his mother. Eventually, he realized he had to be strong for his younger siblings. With his dad busy with work, Kurt stood up and acted like the other parent, making sure they brushed their teeth, had their haircut appointment, or didn’t wear mismatching socks. Now that they are older, he still tries to act like the other parent, even if his siblings are adults.
Growing up, Kurt wasn’t like the other boys. He hated messes, and would much rather play house with the girls in his class or play on the swings than play football or soccer. He came out to his dad in high school, who accepted him with loving arms. He was bullied throughout middle school and high school for being openly gay and his bold outfit choices. He counted down the days until he could graduate. He had a hard time leaving his siblings and dad at home, but he called them once a week.
While at PSU, Kurt majored in fashion design. When he would visit his mom on set, he was fascinated by the fashion designers. He loved watching them create fabulous outfits in the matter of hours. He knew he wanted to be a fashion designer at a young age. With the encouragement of his father, he minored in business so one day he could open his company someday. He was pretty active, joining clubs like fashion club, and was apart of the theatre community. He loved acting and preforming. He left the theatre world at his college after a very tense breakup with an another guy from his theatre group.
Currently, Kurt works as a stylist and fashion designer for the rich and famous, helping them design one of a kind outfits for award shows and the like. He has several clients, which keeps him busy. He also has a secret Etsy shop, designing cat costumes, which he opened up for fun, after finding a lack of outfits he found good enough for his cat, Glinda. He likes this secret he has, as his life has mostly been in the public eye with his famous parents. In between his clients and his small Etsy shop, he finds he has little time to come up with designs for his brand that he once dreamed about. He’s stuck in a rut and can’t seem to get out of it.

NICHOLAS HUMMEL
☆ FULL NAME: Nicholas Eric Hummel ☆ GENDER: Cisman ☆ PRONOUNS: He/Him ☆ AGE: 30 (April 30th, 1994) ☆ BIRTH ORDER: Second ☆ TYPE: Full sibling; solo ☆ HOMETOWN: Portland, Oregon ☆ JOB: TA for PSU's History Program ☆ SCHOOL: PSU Alumni ☆ SEXUALITY: Bisexual ☆ FACECLAIM: Mike Faist
ABOUT NICHOLAS
tws for death, eating disorders, and zero proofreading The thing about growing up in the Hummel family is that it was like a modern fairy tale. Nicholas never wanted for anything. He had a doting mother, a rough but loving father, siblings that he could spend hours chasing through their backyard. Their finances made it so they were always comfortable but it’s safe to say the love would’ve been the same even without the money. Their parents provided them with any and everything they could ask for. In Nicholas' case, this came in the form of books and museum visits and trips around the world to see as much of it as he could. It was a happy childhood. That made it hurt so much worse when his mom passed away. Although expected, the death of his mother created a distinct shift in Nicholas' worldview. There was the Before, when everything was exactly as it had always been, and the After, a new state of living that their entire family had to navigate. The grief isn’t something he’s healed from so much as it’s something he’s learned to live with. It’s a second skin to him at this point, no matter how many times he’s wished he could shed it. He couldn’t fix his dad or siblings’ burden, but he could do his best not to add to it. He could turn himself into someone they didn’t have to worry about. So he completed every chore that was asked of him without fuss, made sure to be home long before curfew, and became hyper aware of any bit of stress his family might have. It was always easier to take on other people’s problems than his own. It isn’t that Nicholas was afraid his friends and family would react poorly if he admitted he wasn’t okay. But they had already been through so much. Maybe that’s why it never crossed his mind to admit when things went too far. When he began fixating on food and numbers at the detriment of his health. The few times Nicholas stopped to consider that he might have a problem, he promptly shoved those thoughts into a box and shoved them to the far back of his closet to be forgotten about. He perfected a balancing act between ignoring his own eating disorder and playing the part of a dutiful son and brother. He was consistently at the top of his class, ultimately graduating as salutatorian – he would’ve been valedictorian if that bastard Bradley Uppercrust III hadn’t blackmailed their physics teacher to give him extra credit. College was yet another new world that Nicholas hadn’t thought he needed to prepare for. History was a no brained to go into – he’d always had a fondness for it in school, and thought a job in a museum would be the perfect way to spend his life. He excelled in academics for a while, but without the structure comfort that he’d built his childhood and adolescence around, he found himself slipping further into his bad habits. But if he could just ace his classes and keep smiling for his friends and family, then there clearly wasn’t a problem. It all came to a head during Nicholas' junior year when his body decided to stop tolerating his abuse. Waking up in the hospital was scary, having to face his family with the truth of his eating disorder was even worse. Nicholas doesn’t like to remember it too much. It was only after weeks of emotional distress, and the realization that his education was also in jeopardy, that Nicholas agreed to get help. The whole process was messy, a constant back and forth between the familiarity of illness and the vague concept of recovery. He moved back home for a bit until he felt like he could trust himself. It was years later than originally planned but eventually, Nicholas was able to finish his degree and graduate. He then started his master’s program in the hopes of getting that particular aspect of his life back on track. He's coming to trust those around him with the nastier sides of himself, and learning that they’ll still care about him regardless. Shocker, I know. Area man learns that he’s allowed to be happy and want things just because. Full story at 11.
