It’s October, and that means it’s Breast and Liver Cancer Awareness Month! These two types of cancer that are on the rise. Early detection is key for the best treatment options and survival rate. Many of the signs and symptoms often do not show up until the later stages of the disease, but sometimes they may show up sooner. Back in August of 2016 I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Diagnoses was: infiltrating “invasive” mammary carcinoma, ER/PR negative, and HER 2 positive by IHC 3+. Treatment was to have a bilateral mastectomy with reconstruction with the TRAM flap procedure and then chemo every three weeks for just over a year. I am posting this to tell my story in hopes to help anyone who is going through similar treatments.
