Is the Bible REALLY the Word of GOD?
There are so many ways to address this question, but today I want to unpack the idea that the bible was written by men out of their own heads, and cobbled together by some committee, leaving hundreds of other books out for no good reason other than popularity.
Tumblr media
The Bible (the Protestant one) is a collection of 66 books, 39 in the Old Testament, and 27 in the New Testament. There are 40 human authors that wrote the various letters, prophesies, and histories contained in it, over a span of about 4000 years.
These men came from all walks of life. Some where shepherds, some were doctors, some were kings. Musicians and vagabonds. Scribes and Pharisees. Tax collectors and fishermen. Even within its pages, people remark on the responses of some of them, as they've never been to school, how could they know the scriptures so well?
[Act 4:13 KJV] 13 Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus.
I've studied this book of books for around 40 years now. Read it through a few dozen times, and done countless in-depth studies into its wealth of content. One of the things I've noticed is that almost every verse in the bible has a reference to another verse. Often because the other verse is a prophesy in THIS verse that was fulfilled hundreds or even thousands of years later.
There's plenty of historical evidence, including the Dead Sea Scrolls, that the Old Testament books were written over a thousand years before the New Testament, yet there are thousands of references to Jesus, his life and ministry, his trial and crucifixion, and his resurrection and ascension. His coming again. His millennial reign. His final judgement and the beauty and majesty and eternity of heaven.
Those cross-references are indicated in the picture I included above. Tens of thousands of them, drawn out from point to point.
Fishermen and vagabonds, musicians and shepherds would have had a hard time writing anything, and predicting the future events a thousand years away? Um, no. It smacks of an omniscience not only across simultaneous events, but a knowledge of future events as if you were there. A knowledge only God could have. For example, in Psalm 22 David writes:
I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint: my heart is like wax; it is melted in the midst of my bowels. My strength is dried up like a potsherd; and my tongue cleaveth to my jaws; and thou hast brought me into the dust of death. For dogs have compassed me: the assembly of the wicked have inclosed me: they pierced my hands and my feet. I may tell all my bones: they look [and] stare upon me. They part my garments among them, and cast lots upon my vesture. (Psa 22:14-18 KJV)
Indicating a knowledge of crucifixion that wouldn't be invented for a thousand years. Of the gambling for Jesus' clothes, a common practice for the soldiers of that time.
I don't have room here to unpack more, but this should make it clear. Men didn't write this. Oh, they held the pens. But God gave the words.
As to the inclusion of those 66 books and the exclusion of others? Well, that happened over time, from the Council of Rome in AD 382 and Council of Trent in 1563 AD. And finally, the Protestant canon was decided by the Thirty-Nine Articles in 1563, and almost 100 years later by the Westminster Confession of Faith in 1647.
These councils didn't make these decisions based on popularity. All of these letters, histories, and prophesies were examined thoroughly and had to pass various tests, including reference by other works in the collection, references TO other works in the collection, indication of prophecy fulfilled, and agreement with the rest of scripture as a whole. Other works, like additional books found in the Catholic Bible, like Tobit and I and II Maccabees, were found to be divinely inspired, but not in agreement with the whole of scripture. For example, Tobit was disputed as part of scripture by the first-century Jews. And found in the Protestant council to have theological differences.
Those books were deemed Apocryphal. Other books were declared Pseudo-Apocryphal, that is, out and out forgeries with spurious claims to having been written by one of the biblical characters, like the Gospel of Nicodemus. Containing inaccuracies and spiritual pitfalls and heresies.
What is in the Bible that we have today is the Word of God. it contains over 600 prophesies fulfilled in Christ. And several thousand more fulfilled throughout history. The bible says it best:
All scripture [is] given by inspiration of God, and [is] profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works. (2Ti 3:16-17 KJV)

Every preacher who adopts the guilt-trip method of preaching is a legalist. But he does not know this. The worst legalists are those who preach from the New Testament Scriptures, in the spirit of the old covenant. They imagine that they are preaching the new covenant, but they have been deceived by Satan to preach the letter of the new covenant without entering into the spirit of the new covenant. The new covenant is not a gospel of the letter but of the spirit. The words that Jesus spoke were "spirit and life" (John 6:63). The ministry of the Spirit is never one of compulsion or condemnation, but always one of encouragement and hope. God is the "lifter of our heads" (Psa.3:3), NOT the "lowerer of our heads". He never tries to shame us into obeying Him. School-teachers may try to shame their students into obedience. But loving fathers will never do that. They get their children to obey them cheerfully, by encouraging them (See 1 Cor.4:14,15). It is by our attitude to our flock in this area that we can discover whether we are teachers or fathers. Our churches do not need teachers. We need more fathers.
We need to distinguish between the conviction of the Holy Spirit and the condemnation of the Law. Guilt-trip preaching leads people to be discouraged and to condemn themselves. Therefore, they cannot come into a life of freedom in the Spirit and become overcomers.
Whenever a preacher adopts this guilt-trip method, it indicates that he does not really know the Lord, or the ways of the Holy Spirit. It proves that his knowledge of the Bible is poor. And he is also dishonest - for he cannot possibly be living by the standards he preaches. Jesus DID first and THEN taught (Acts 1:1). But these preachers, like the Pharisees of old, "load you with impossible demands that they themselves don't even try to keep" (Matt.23:3,4-Living).
It is impossible to have genuine fellowship with a guilt-trip preacher, for he is not poor in spirit. "The poor in spirit' are defined in the Amplified Bible as "those who rate themselves as insignificant" (Matt.5:3). I have met very few preachers in my life who would consider themselves as insignificant. The airs with which most preachers preach proclaims to everyone that they rate themselves as "very, very important people" compared to the ordinary believers in their congregations!! I always switch off inwardly, when listening to such men, for I know that I cannot receive anything of eternal value from such proud people. Such preachers are infected by the spirit of the Accuser and that is why their "guilt-trip" preaching consists mainly of accusing others of not measuring up to God's standards. They imagine themselves to be "prophets", but they lack the compassion of genuine prophets. Such arrogant preachers cannot possess the kingdom of heaven (Matt.5:3). And so they cannot lead others into the freedom of the Spirit (that characterises the kingdom of heaven). Such preachers will never be able to build a brotherhood or a local expression of the Body of Christ anywhere. They will only be able to build congregations of their own "admirers". May God save us all from such a calamity.
I have noticed that it is usually young men who indulge in "guilt-trip preaching". But I have also seen that if such young men do not judge themselves and seek to grow in grace, they will remain unchanged even when they are old men and become elders of churches.
Let us therefore ensure that we NEVER use the "guilt-trip" method in our preaching to try and convict others of their failure to obey God. Let us never allow any preacher to send us on a guilt trip, through his preaching. Let us repent of being legalistic teachers and seek to be fathers instead. The glory of our Lord was seen in the fullness of GRACE and TRUTH that was manifested in His life and in His words - throughout His earthly days (John 1:14). May that glory be manifested through us too. Amen and Amen.

a gift left wrapped
"He led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men... for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ." eph 4:8,12
oh, the preciousness of the Holy Spirit; so gentle, so tender, so loving. is it not a wonder that offending Him would be a unpardonable sin? "and I will pray the Father, and He shall give you another Comforter, that He may abide with you for ever." john 14:16 without the Holy Spirit in the world there would be no conviction of sin; not even a consciousness of wrong doing. there would be no tugging at one's heart strings and seeking good over evil; right over wrong.
"the gifts and calling of God are without repentance." romans 11:29 states that. there has been no cessation of those gifts. they are distributed by the Holy Spirit as He sees fit. "Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and for ever." heb 13:8 just as when Jesus walked this earth, it is only faith that prevents us from unwrapping that gift so costly given. sure, we may unwrap our salvation, but anything requiring more faith than that belonged only to the disciples and not for us. there will be no walking on water around here. that seems to be the majority mindset.
that's what most of us have been taught and brought up to believe. the words written in the bible remain just that until the Holy Spirit breathes life into them. "the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life." john 6:63 in these days we need to draw our strength from the Spirit lying dormant in those words; from the power straining to be released. they too are being held captive by our unbelief, waiting to be free; waiting for us to believe in an unlimited God.
let us take one of the basic elements of living in the Spirit; speaking in tongues. do i believe one has to speak in tongues to be full of the Spirit of God? no. i do believe they are missing out on an empowering, enlightening and uplifting gift our Lord wants to share with us. i believe all the gifts of the Holy Spirit are available to each believer as a situation dictates and their ardent spirit petitions. faith becomes substance.
i want to tell you story i heard corrie ten boom tell one time about a little boy. it seems someone told him he must pray. as he prepared for bed that night, the one thing he knew about praying was to fold one's hands and close their eyes. as he knelt beside the bed to pray, his mother was nearby listening and watching. he began to say the alphabet - a, b, c, d, etc. his mother asked what he was doing. his reply was, " i don't know how to pray so i'm just giving God all the letters of the alphabet and trusting Him to make a good prayer with it.
to me, that's how praying in the spirit is; instead of giving Him the letters to work with, we are giving Him sounds to work with. we don't conjugate the words to manipulate meaningful understanding. we simply trust the Holy Spirit to form those utterances into meaningful, spiritual communication with our creator. there are times when even words will not suffice and our spirit resorts to groanings which emanate from our very depths. these too are spiritual sounds, understood in the spirit realm. "o Lord, You have searched me and known me. You know my sitting down and my rising up; You understand my thought afar off... such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, i cannot attain it." psa 139:1-2,6
this is our escape from the false reality of the world into true reality of the Spirit. i don't know why God chose this as a useful gift; to bypass our understanding and let us commune directly spirit to Spirit. perhaps because "out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. my brethren, these things ought not to be so." james 3:10 all i know is, it is for our edification. "for he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God, for no one understands him; however, in the spirit he speaks mysteries." 1 cor 14:2
yes, there may be times we pray with an urgency for needs unknown halfway around the world; things that cannot be known by the natural mind; perhaps for someone, somewhere in need of pray at that moment. then there are times we are just lost in worship, our gratefulness for so great a redemption no known words would suffice to express. if you've never been lost in worship you need to try it. it's there, in the secret place of His presence, we are introduced to His worthiness. in His light we receive light. and yes, it is most often there that no known words can be expressed.
these are the days we need all the help we can get. "till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ." eph 4:13 we are told to pursue and desire spiritual gifts; not to discourage and disparage them. all are given by God. all are precious.
i look around at the division remaining in the body of Christ; division not beneficial. some have made a ministry of mocking and condemning brethren and their practices. "and i, brethren, could not speak to you as to spiritual people but as to carnal, as to babes in Christ. i fed you with milk and not with solid food; for until now you were not able to receive it, and even now you are still not able; for you are still carnal. for where there are envy, strife, and divisions among you, are you not carnal and behaving like mere men?" 1 cor 3:1-3
whether one is arguing about whether they are of paul or apollos or whether they are arguing about denominations and doctrines, they are all carnal. there are many mysteries remaining in the gospels and only a handful of truths among them that need defending. these must be defended to the death while the others are merely brethren viewing through the same mirror dimly. "for now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. now i know in part, but then i shall know just as i also am known." 1 cor 13:12
"and because of your knowledge shall the weak brother perish, for whom Christ died?" 1 cor 8:11 talk about being wrong in your rightness. Jesus prayed we might be one, even as He and the Father were one. now, as we are nearing the finish line and the forces of evil are ramping up to full strength, knowing their time is short - can we not even now lay asides our differences and rejoice in the fact that we all know and love the same Lord; the Lord who died for you just as surely as He died for me? the one truth the apostle paul sought to present above all other things - "for i determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified." 1 cor 2:2 let us embrace the bond of brotherhood. "that they may be one just as We are One." john 17:22

General PSA:
Euro-Med Health Monitor is a bad source.
They don't seem to be a real nonprofit. Nobody can figure out what, if anything, they actually do.
(They were founded in 2011. All Wikipedia lists for their work is a project in Gaza to train writers, another to train Wikipedia editors, and a third project that doesn't seem to have actually taken any action.)
And every single post I've ever seen from them is false.
Some of the numbers in that infographic might be right. I'm not here to check everything. But the big ones from them are always made up.
The death toll on December 1st wasn't 21,022. The Gaza Ministry of Health was reporting about 15,000 deaths.
That's the actual health agency in Gaza. The ones who make it their business to know who gets injured or dies.
The CIVILIAN death toll is an INCREDIBLY bold claim. Because Gaza doesn't report that.
And it would be really hard for them, or for anybody else, to track it day by day or even month by month. Because the combatants are a bunch of different terrorist groups. Who, for obvious reasons, aren't handing out their member lists.
But we DEFINITELY know it wasn't 19,660 civilians -- well, for one thing because that was more than the total number of deaths!
At the end of December, the Gaza Ministry of Health was saying that 22,835 people had been killed in Gaza. And Action on Armed Violence (AOAV), a group that monitors wars, said that 9,334 of those had been civilians.
That's about a 1:1.3 civilian casualty rate: more than one terrorist killed for every civilian who gets killed.
Which sucks, but is also better than most wars. That means 41% of the deaths have been civilians. 75% of deaths in the Korean War were civilians; 67% in the Vietnam War; only 28% in the War in Afghanistan; and 77% in the Iraq War.
Currently AOAV is saying over 19,000 of 41,000 killed in Gaza have been civilians; about 46%.
Which tracks, because before his death in a July, the leader of Hamas's Khan Younis Brigade wrote a letter to Hamas military leader Yahya Sinwar saying:
we have lost at least 50% of our fighters between those who are martyred and wounded, and now we are left with 25%. The last 25% of our people have reached a situation where the people do not tolerate them anymore, broken on a mental or physical level.

Draco was not the only Death Eater pressured into becoming one.
In fact, I would argue that all of the Death Eaters were, on some level, a product of their environment. There seems to be this misconception that Draco is special- that he is the only precious baby who might have felt conflicted about the direction his parents encouraged him to follow, that he is somehow the only pureblood who was directly affected by the way he was raised, and might have turned out different in a different environment. Sometimes other characters are acknowledged under this idea- Regulus, though we actually don’t know a single thing about him beyond that he was well trusted by Voldemort, and did indeed become a DE before turning on the Dark Lord, and Severus, rarely, are acknowledged as products of their upbringing.
BUT HERE’S THE THING.
NEARLY ALL THE DEATH EATERS WERE RAISED IN THE SAME SOCIETY?
All the witches and wizards who took Voldemort’s mark, with very few exceptions were raised in rich families with purist ideals. Many of the older generation were indoctrinated by their very own parents just as Draco was by his- we simply don’t directly see it happening because frankly, no book has the time to explore the formation of every character. But, for example, we do know for a fact that Abraxas Malfoy, Draco’s grandfather and Lucius Malfoy’s father, was a part of Voldemort’s inner circle when the Death Eaters were still known as the Knights of Walpurgis, and likely indoctrinated his own son into the group. We know that the same family line which drove Regulus Black to the Dark Lord likely also did so to Bellatrix, who was Regulus’s first cousin.
This is why Death Eaters can be fascinating characters to explore, once we look past the two-dimensional children’s book presentation- they are people, each and individually, who may very well have led totally different lives, if only they’d been raised by someone else.

Fantastic Beasts and the Crimes of Grindelwald - Review
Okay so yeah, post got some likes so I’m doing it.
I am one of the lucky people who was able to see Crimes of Grindelwald already. It’s been released today here in France but since my cinema had a premiere yesterday night, I have been able to see it one day prior.
First of all, if you want PSA, you can find them here : [link]
So, let’s start with :
NON-SPOILER PART
Overall, I didn’t dislike the movie. I didn’t really like it either. I feel like there is too much information, too much plots at the same time, and in the end you don’t really care about any of them. The movie is a complete train wreck, tbh. Too many things happening and it’s all crashing together into some kinda alphabet soup where you can see the letters but can’t really form words.
The first scene is one of the best in my opinion, and yet also one of the worst. Nothing makes sense in it. You totally get what is going on, but you don’t understand how it could happen. It clearly summarize the movie, I’d say. It shows an action, done following a plan, but some element are just coming out of nowhere. This scene doesn’t look right at the beginning of Crimes of Grindelwald. It should have been the ending of Where to Find Them.
At that is, in my opinion, one of the movie’s biggest problem. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is a good movie, but a bad introduction to a 5-movies-long saga. Most of the element that seem forced in COG could and SHOULD have been introduced in WTFT. Mostly characters, tbh. I’m mostly thinking Leta. Okay, technically she has been introduced back then, but I think we should have had more than just a photograph and a mention of being New’s ex. Tbh, I don’t even understand why she’s Newt’s ex but that might got too spoiler-y so we’ll talk about that later.
Other characters, in the contrary, are largely underused. They are clearly there to serve later in the movie saga, but in that case they have too much screen time and importance. I’m not only talking about then being too present in the movie, I’m talking about them being too present in the press tour, ads and everything. Part of the marketing of the movie has been done around them, all that for them not being a huge part of the movie. And I’m not talking Dumbledore here, well, not only Dumbledore at least.
Characters treatment, meanwhile, is one of the most inconsistent things. While some like Newt, Jacob, Grindelwald or to some extent Tina are faithful to what we saw in the first movie, others like Queenie, Credence or to so extent Tina seem kind of OOC. (Yes Tina is in both cases). I’m not saying how they are different, but while it didn’t displease me too much for Credence, it sure makes me want to start #justiceforqueenie. This leads to the relationships going from really great for most of them to a complete trainwreck in others and, in one case, abusive.
While I’m clearly saying mostly negative things, the movie isn’t all bad. As I’ve said, some characters are great, most jokes are great too and while some complain about the visual effects I wasn’t too choked by them. The music is discreet but immersive and that’s all I ask of a soundtrack tbh. It’s just mostly been through the WB effect. To quote Deadpool : “So dark and broody, are you sure you’re not part of the DCEU ?” It is a good story, just not rendered in a good way. You know, one of those story you like almost all elements but not how they’re treated and you just want to rewrite them yourself to fix it. That’s at least how I feel about it, I’m ready to kick J.K. out and write in her place.
Now this might be a bit confused but I don’t want to say too much. So if you don’t care about them, we can now enter into :
HEAVY SPOILER PART
They are, quite obviously, to be found under the cut.
I have a lot to say about it so I’m going to organize them into categories. I might forget some things but hey, I’m no professional. So, let’s start.
Scamanders and Lestrange - I find the trio to have a really good alchemy. The brothers are not depicted as the old-as-time “the successful asshole vs the weirdo angel” trope. Theseus, although successful indeed, never use it to compare himself with Newt. I don’t even think he compared himself with Newt. He’s successful, wants to help his brother the best he can and fuck, he’s a hugger and it’s refreshing to see brothers hug. (I’m saying that as someone whose sister has never hugged her, so I might be totally partial here). The relationship Newt has with Leta is also pretty good. You can sense that there’s history and it’s clearly not a case of the girl now being a bitch. Problem is, I have no idea why they split up in the first place. They seem to still go along, they seem to still care, if not feel love, for the other… And in the contrary, I don’t see why Theseus and Leta are engaged. Outside of “we need to bring Leta into the story”. They seem to go along pretty well, and clearly they care about one another but I don’t sense love. And it’s got nothing to do with the actor’s chemistry. They do have chemistry during interviews and all. No, it’s clearly lazy plotting. I think things would have been better if Leta had been engaged to Newt from movie 1 and a friend (maybe colleague) of Theseus.
The Lestrange lineage - Now you will not make me say one single good thing about that crap. The movie has indeed some good things but this is not one. First of all, it’s a mess. We don’t care about it for most of the movie and the moment we start caring, we learn that it’s not even really related to our story. Also, it’s quite the horrible story and it’s not treated in a good way at all. It’s also highly problematic, like a white man casting imperius to rape a black woman clearly sends some messages, but it’s not even used. There is no moral to this story. Lestrange is not depicted as bad because he raped the woman, he’s seen as bad because he never loved anyone besides Corvus, made Leta hate herself because she’s born of a rape and inspired revenge in the family of the woman he raped. And not only is there no moral to it, but it’s just a plot device. It’s just here to grow some artificial suspense as to the origin of Credence and only to reveal that it’s not even the real origin of Credence. And you know how it could have been avoided ? By saying that Youssouf is not the half-brother but the cousin of Leta. Leta is the daughter of arranged marriage, as is the custom with pureblood, and her father remarried to have Corvus. Now you can present him as being an asshole for not loving his wives and daughter. And Youssouf is not here for revenge but because he thinks he’s found his cousin’s brother and want to reunite them. Here. How to create your fake suspense without adding rape and racism.
Nagini the maledictus - She could have been removed from the movie. Really, she’s useless so far and I’m hoping she’ll have more use later. She’s got too much screen time and I’m sure she had to be connected to Credence somehow but then they should have been more warm to one another because so far all she’s done is stand silently behind him.
Queenie and the treatment of mental health - I love Queenie. She’s been my favorite for along time in the first movie, after a few rewatching got her replaced by her sister. She’s still a character I loved a lot and I was always defending her when a friend who doesn’t like her at all was talking bad about her. Now… Well… I get that she’s not mentally alright. And I suppose that someone like me who doesn’t have any mental health issue, I’m not the best judge of that. I actually find very interesting that she suffers from her legilimency, and the fact that it gives her panic attack, all alone in this city she doesn’t know, hearing thought she can’t even understand (French people think in French after all, at least most of us do) is a really interesting thing that deserves to be treated better. What I struggle with is how abusive they made her relationship with Jacob, and the conclusion that is given of her mental state. Queenie is a legiliment more powerful than most others, able to read thoughts without much efforts, and who never revealed her nature to any ministry member because she didn’t want to be used like a tool, an object. Yet she manipulate Jacob like a toy, taking his consent away as a mean to finally get engaged. She’ basically doing to him what the first movie established she didn’t want done to her. And when it’s revealed that she’s just struggling with her identity, her difference, there is only one conclusion. “You’re mad.” Or “You’re crazy” idk I saw the movie with french dub. At first it’s just a thought. Jacob has been manipulated by the woman he loves, he’s confused. And he regrets it immediately. But by the end of the movie, Queenie who’s been suffering, who seem to have found a solution, hears it again and this time it’s not a lost thought. It’s an affirmation. “You’re mad.” That’s all she’s gonna get from the people she counted on. Between a man who condamns her mental health and a man who offers to help, I can understand she choose the latter. But this still doesn’t make sense. If she’s such a powerful mindreader she should have known that Grindelwald is manipulating her. You know what I think ? I think Jacob should have turned.
The reference to WWII - One of the things I loved was that mention. Grindelwald show the future and it’s not a great one. Jacob, who has been in the first war, is shook to see that. It was strong. In France (and maybe elsewhere I don’t know), WWI has a nickname. “La der des der”. Basically, the last of the last (war). Seeing the violence of the war, the soldier who fought in it believed it to be the war who would put an end to all the wars. Never could another be worst, be more violent. History proved that it wasn’t the case. But at the time, they delieved it to the core. Jacob believes it to the core. And then, this man who has fought, this man who is of polish origin (if not a polish immigrant, i’m not sure if it’s been specified), sees the war, the violence, the people in line in a concentration camp. And tbh, I think this might have been a turning point for him. He’s seen what the human race has done worst, and then he sees that it’s not even the worst, and that the worst is to come. Many would just want to stop that, that’s what Grindelwald is proposing. While him not turning is a good thing, the contrary would have been interesting as fuck.
Paris yes, but not in France - Okay so this is totally coming from me being a French girl. I didn’t see Paris, I didn’t see France, in that movie. I saw it with French dubbing so idk if there was some french dialogue but if there was that’s the only clue we have that we’re in France. We could have been in another country, I wouldn’t have had a clue. I don’t see what the point was. Why settle the plot in Paris, exactly ? There was to use of France’s culture, history or anything. Nothing justified being in Paris. I mean sure the ministry was pretty. But yeah that’s all. You know, I think about it because I’ve just rambled about WWI and II but it would have been a nice thing. If Jacob was to be tempted by his PTSD, one thing that could have been nice to show are the “gueules cassées”. Gueules cassées literally means “broken faces”. It designates the soldiers that survived WWI but came back with huge disabilities and/or deformities. The movietakes place in 1927. Before 1930, disabled people struggled more than ever to find a job, most couldn’t find any at all. THIS is a huge part of French history and THIS goes in accordance with the message of Grindelwald that muggles are dangerous, destructives.
Grindelwald himself - He was… not that bad, actually. Maybe I was expecting too much bad things from him. Depp isn’t that terrible, I found that lately he’d been under-acting ? Don’t know if that makes sense. But he seemed to be at least invested. His plan wasn’t that great though, overly complicated for nothing and all. But overall, while not a great villain, not a bad one. I wish he was more manipulative, because right now it seems just saying “Hi” makes people join him like wtf. Also… “I hate Paris”. Yes dear, like every french people, get over it. :)
The Strange Case of Aurelius Dumbledore - Okay, two possibilities. One, Grindelwald is lying to Credence about his real identity, in order to give him a target. He’s just making him a weapon against Albus. Two, Grindelwald is telling the truth and Credence is actually a long lost Dumbledore brother. This would make no sense. Dumbledore is, at least 18 years older than Credence is. The younger Dumbledore is supposed to be Ariana, and she is only 5 years younger than Albus. (She was 14 when her mother died and Albus had just left Hogwarts so 17). It’s written black on white in the book that she was attacked when she was six years old. Their father was imprisoned the same year. Three years before Credence was born, his alleged father was imprisoned for life in Azkaban. Somehow, I doubt there are conjugal visits. This is totally messing the timeline up tbh. I really hope Grindelwald is actually lying.
So… I might have forgotten a few things. Don’t hesitate to message me if you want to discuss about these things or some I might have forgotten.

I can't handle these times alone, Lord. Will you speak peace and calm my storms, or hold my hand while we walk through them together? Will you bring the reassuring wisdom of those who have come through similar times into my life? Thank you, Lord. I'm trusting you. In the name of the One who makes the wind and the waves stand still, Amen.
[Psa 68:7-10 NKJV] 7 O God, when You went out before Your people, When You marched through the wilderness, Selah 8 The earth shook; The heavens also dropped [rain] at the presence of God; Sinai itself [was moved] at the presence of God, the God of Israel. 9 You, O God, sent a plentiful rain, Whereby You confirmed Your inheritance, When it was weary. 10 Your congregation dwelt in it; You, O God, provided from Your goodness for the poor.
[Ezr 1:1-11 NKJV] 1 Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of the LORD by the mouth of Jeremiah might be fulfilled, the LORD stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, so that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and also [put it] in writing, saying, 2 Thus says Cyrus king of Persia: All the kingdoms of the earth the LORD God of heaven has given me. And He has commanded me to build Him a house at Jerusalem which [is] in Judah. 3 Who [is] among you of all His people? May his God be with him, and let him go up to Jerusalem which [is] in Judah, and build the house of the LORD God of Israel (He [is] God), which [is] in Jerusalem. 4 And whoever is left in any place where he dwells, let the men of his place help him with silver and gold, with goods and livestock, besides the freewill offerings for the house of God which [is] in Jerusalem. 5 Then the heads of the fathers' [houses] of Judah and Benjamin, and the priests and the Levites, with all whose spirits God had moved, arose to go up and build the house of the LORD which [is] in Jerusalem. 6 And all those who [were] around them encouraged them with articles of silver and gold, with goods and livestock, and with precious things, besides all [that] was willingly offered. 7 King Cyrus also brought out the articles of the house of the LORD, which Nebuchadnezzar had taken from Jerusalem and put in the temple of his gods; 8 and Cyrus king of Persia brought them out by the hand of Mithredath the treasurer, and counted them out to Sheshbazzar the prince of Judah. 9 This [is] the number of them: thirty gold platters, one thousand silver platters, twenty-nine knives, 10 thirty gold basins, four hundred and ten silver basins of a similar [kind, and] one thousand other articles. 11 All the articles of gold and silver [were] five thousand four hundred. All [these] Sheshbazzar took with the captives who were brought from Babylon to Jerusalem.
[2Co 3:1-18 NKJV] 1 Do we begin again to commend ourselves? Or do we need, as some [others], epistles of commendation to you or [letters] of commendation from you? 2 You are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read by all men; 3 clearly you are an epistle of Christ, ministered by us, written not with ink but by the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of flesh, [that is], of the heart. 4 And we have such trust through Christ toward God. 5 Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think of anything as [being] from ourselves, but our sufficiency [is] from God, 6 who also made us sufficient as ministers of the new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life. 7 But if the ministry of death, written [and] engraved on stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not look steadily at the face of Moses because of the glory of his countenance, which [glory] was passing away, 8 how will the ministry of the Spirit not be more glorious? 9 For if the ministry of condemnation [had] glory, the ministry of righteousness exceeds much more in glory. 10 For even what was made glorious had no glory in this respect, because of the glory that excels. 11 For if what is passing away [was] glorious, what remains [is] much more glorious. 12 Therefore, since we have such hope, we use great boldness of speech-- 13 unlike Moses, [who] put a veil over his face so that the children of Israel could not look steadily at the end of what was passing away. 14 But their minds were blinded. For until this day the same veil remains unlifted in the reading of the Old Testament, because the [veil] is taken away in Christ. 15 But even to this day, when Moses is read, a veil lies on their heart. 16 Nevertheless when one turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. 17 Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord [is], there [is] liberty. 18 But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.

feb 18
good morning all you "daily" readers. my hope in doing these is to encourage and prepare the body of Christ for these times. the little secret behind it though, is that it is helping me more than anyone else. this has given me a new sense of purpose when i was facing a future of resignation to my uselessness. to tell you the truth, i was sure i had spent my youth and energy on too many things that didn't matter.
i was talking to someone in christian ministry when i was in my early thirties. i vividly remember them saying to me, "you are just the right age to do so much for our Lord". then, alas, i got sidetracked with life and though i kept my faith, the detours, deceptions and temptations kept me from the intimate relationship i now cherish so much. (praise God for His patience.) if there were one thing i could now share with those who are younger it would be, "don't waste the flower of your youth on things that swiftly pass and will serve for nothing in the approaching eternity".
i am standing on and believing God's word when it says, "they shall still bear fruit in old age". psa 92:14 i bear witness that His word is true and active in my life now.
this ministry i seem to have going on in the prison surprises me more than it could anyone else. just old lady communicating with, what to me, is almost an adolescent. this "woman" is in her early twenties. and the stories she tells me about those around her; i can't believe how many young ladies have messed up so bad, so soon.
one of her "bunkies" wanted her to enclose a small note to me in her last letter. when i wrote back, i told her to tell that girl, "i pray you are blessed, and if i have any juice with God, you will be. you are already blessed to be sharing space with this lady". there's so much hope we can shed in other people's lives. and sometimes a little hope if all that is needed.
there's a little local website in my city that i have been posting on lately in hopes of reaching others also. i go a lot of positive responses from many people. then after a few sharings, i was notified that my account had been restricted. i still don't know if it was a website decision or from a complaint. one scripture popped into my mind at the news and i posted one last time. "and whoever will not receive you nor hear you, when you depart from there, shake off the dust under your feet as a testimony against them. assuredly, I say to you, it will be more tolerable for sodom and gomorrah in the day of judgment than for that city!" mark 6:11 perhaps i shouldn't have posted that, but i felt it was what the Lord was giving me. of course, the account was then terminated.
i guess i relate this for a very specific reason. the Lord has told us that the harvest is ripe and there are too few laborers. we know that none can come unless the Holy Spirit draws them. if they have not yet been prepared by Him, there are too many that have been. they may be just a word away from believing and receiving. God knows those that are His. those wanting more and just needing a little hope. an affirmation they are not beyond His reach or love.
anyway, this woman i correspond with tells me about another of her bunkies. (i don't know how many they put in a cell.) there are times when the one beneath her will be tossing and turning; supposedly thinking of her family and circumstances and all. she will quietly whisper and ask this girl to pray for her that she might get some sleep. she will receive the prayer and her rest, but not quite ready to believe it is all for her.
i had mailed this lady several scriptures i designed had up (having been in graphics). she shared one with still another girl and made her promise to read it aloud everyday. (i think it was the prov 3:5-6 one.) anyway, she said this girl was always getting into trouble and finally she was transferred out. but she said when she looked into her cell, the scripture was also gone.
oh friends, i can't tell you the joy of serving the Lord. it is always wonderful but maybe especially when one feels they might still be relevant. this is the abundant life He offers. it is not wealth or fame or anything this world has to offer. it is the joy of knowing you are "in His will". it's the peace that passes understanding. it is that joy unspeakable and full of glory. it is His promise. "call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know." jer 33:3
we are that chosen generation to occupy when He returns. if we will receive, the glory and power that will shine through us in these days will help reap that great final harvest for our Lord. if you think His first coming was spectacular, you ain't seen nothing yet. "the glory of this latter temple shall be greater than the former." hag 2:9

WARNING: The first 3 minutes of Crimes of Grindelwald involve a lot of flashing lights that could be very bad for people with epilepsy.
I have headaches that come from flashing lights & it definitely agitated those, so if you or someone you know plans to see this movie and has any condition that could be agitated by this, please let them know. Just covering my for about 3 minutes did the trick as it was a very short scene, and you get the gist of what happens anyway.

It’s been a hot minute.
It’s been some time since I, the mun, have read the books. I’ll admit that. Grownup life is tough, and the decline of my reading speed due to the worsening of my dyslexia and my general vision issues hasn’t helped me find the motivation to make time for something that’s getting harder and harder.
What this means is that the only canon fresh in my mind is Tom Felton’s stunning performance- which unfortunately means I’ve got some memory gaps of things the film scripts left out. This is highly relevant because in the past, when I’ve mentioned something my Draco would or wouldn’t do, I’ve been smacked in the face with canon stating otherwise- and here is where I choose to remind folks that it says on the tin that this blog is canon divergent. While Draco, by default, follows all the major events of canon, some of the more minor interactions may yet be disregarded if I feel they no longer mesh with the character I’ve developed over the past few years.
Now that my summer is dedicated to bringing my blogs to a point I feel I can be proud of, I fully intend to re-read all 7 books, and take notes accordingly. What this means is there will likely be meta posts coming out when I have the time to actually type them out. Among these posts will more than likely be breakdowns of pieces of canon that did or did not happen, and in the case of the latter what may have happened instead.
Until I am totally finished, these pieces will be linked below, and once they are done the links will be moved to a masterlist post, and this post will be deleted.
none yet!

Year since abrogation of Article 370, Mehbooba Mufti, other politicians still under detention as Centre claims normalcy
A spate of arrests and detentions followed the revocation of Jammu and Kashmir's special status on 5 August last year with three former chief ministers coming under radar. Even as the Centre readies to observe the first anniversary of abrogation of Article 370, life in the region is far from what defines normalcy in rest of the country.
The erstwhile state -- which was granted the status of a Union Territory a year ago following the abrogation -- is yet to elect a government over two years after a split in the PDP-BJP combine led to President's rule. High speed internet is still a distant dream for residents of the Valley, while mobile connectivity too can be disrupted by the authorities on need basis.
The last serving chief minister of the semi-autonomous state, Mehbooba Mufti is still under house arrest even though the the government has seen fit to release several key opposition leaders and former chief ministers.
Mufti’s detention was extended by three months under the Public Safety Act (PSA), ahead of the expiry of her current detention order on 5 August this year. Her residence, where she was shifted in April after spending over eight months at two government facilities, has been declared a subsidiary jail.
Her former aide and ex-MLA Sajad Lone, who founded the Jammu and Kashmir People's Conference, was released from detention this week. After being taken into custody on 5 August, he was kept at makeshift jail at Srinagar's Centaur hotel, along with other leaders from mainstream parties before they all were moved to an MLA hostel. In February, he was shifted to his residence and kept under house arrest.
Finally 5 days short of a year I have been officially informed that I am a free man. So much has changed. So have I. Jail was not a new experience. Earlier ones were harsh with usual doses of physical torture. But this was psychologically draining. Much to share hopefully soon.

Controversy over claims of detentions
The curious case of Congress leader Saifuddin Soz has been making headlines recently. While the former Union minister claims he is still under detention, the Jammu and Kashmir administration vehemently claims that he is a free man.
"I continue to be under house arrest. The only thing that has changed is; a lock has been put on my gate from inside also," Soz has claimed in a statement.
However, the Supreme Court closed a habeas corpus petition by his wife after being told by the administration that he was “never detained nor under house arrest”.
The order came even as videos went viral of policemen stationed at Soz’s residence pulling him away from the boundary wall of his home as he talked to media persons. Another video showed cops stopping him from leaving his residence.
National Conference leader Omar Abdullah says that Soz's story is neither unique nor unusual. He claims that 15 leaders of his party were also illegally detained like Soz.
"Soz Sahib’s plight is not unique. JKNC has gone to court because more than 15 of our colleagues are similarly illegally detained and I have no doubt the administration will claim they aren’t detained."
The party had filed a petition on 13 July in the Jammu and Kashmir High Court, seeking the release of 16 party leaders still under house arrest. A letter to Principal Secretary, Home, Jammu and Kashmir noted that “no order (preventive or otherwise) justifying such confinement has till date been served upon” the detained leaders.
Soz Sahib’s plight is not unique. @JKNC_ has gone to court because more than 15 of our colleagues are similarly illegally detained & I have no doubt the administration will claim they aren’t detained. As if any of these people would sit at home for a year of their own free will. https://t.co/pBuMsoQOCa

// //
The leaders names are: Ali Mohammad Sagar, Abdul Rahim Rather, Nasir Aslam Wani, Aga Syed Mehmood, Mohammad Khalil Bandh, Irfan Shah, Sahmeema Firdous, Mohammad Shafi Uri, Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi, Chaudhary Mohammad Ramzaan, Mubarak Gul, Dr Bashir Veeri, Abdul Majeed Larmi, Basharat Bukhari, Saifudin Bhat Shutru and Mohammad Shafi.
From among the gamut of leaders who have been arrested since the abrogation of Article 370 last year, Peoples Democratic Party’s Waheed Parra, arrested on 5 August and later booked under a preventive detention law, said "disgrace and defeat have been both personal and political”. “My work became a reason for my arrest. My dossier said I was motivating people to be part of democratisation and elections,” he told Outlook.
Even though PDP leader Nizamuddin Bhat was released from detention at the MLA hostel in Srinagar in January, party spokesman Suhail Bukhari said this week that top PDP leaders are still not allowed to move out of their houses.
"Naeem Akhtar, GN Hanjura, Sartaj Madani, Peer Mansoor, AR Veeri, all former legislators and ministers, remain under house arrest since their release from sub-jails," he said.
Peoples Conference leader Abdul Ghani Vakil and Peoples Movement chief Shah Faesal and leader Javaid Mustafa Mir are also placed under house arrest, according to party spokesmen.
Hurriyat leader Mirwaiz Umer Farooq has also been under house arrest since 5 August, while Yasin Malik has been in Tihar jail for 18 months. Tehreek-e-Hurriyat chairman Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai, who was among those placed under house arrest in August 2019, was arrested by police in Srinagar on Sunday, with sources telling New Indian Express that he was booked under PSA.
Home ministry data stated that top political leadership from NC and PDP were released in multiple batches within seven months after the scrapping of Article 370. As many as 6,605 persons including political heads, overground workers, stone-pelters and separatists were taken into preventive custody. But, 90 percent of them were released in the first three months, central government officials told The Economic Times.
A leadership vacuum created by the long absence of major leaders from parties with strong regional presence saw the emergence of newer faces. While Mufti's daughter Iltija took control of her mother's Twitter account in her absence and spoke on "issues of the common people", former PDP leader Altaf Bukhari launched a new outfit Apni Party in March. The BJP too started grooming entrants like Aijaz Hussain and Sheikh Khalid Jehangir.
The Block Development Council elections were held from 8 to 16 October last year, recording a voter turnout of 98 percent. While the PDP and JKNC boycotted the first elections to be held after the revocation of Jammu and Kashmir's special status, 109 of the 128 winning candidates turned out to be Independents. The erstwhile state, however, has not had a stable government since June 2018, when Mufti stepped down from the chief ministerial post.
Petitions say courts overlooked grounds of detention
Soz had left his residence twice in September and December 2019 after seeking permission from authorities and said that he would sue the government for his unlawful arrest, blaming the UT administration for lying to the apex court. The court stressed heavily on the omission of Soz’s travels in the petition, even as the question of the grounds of detention did not arise.
A petition challenging Mufti’s detention remains pending before the Supreme Court. Meanwhile, Sitaram Yechury’s habeas corpus petition challenging the detention of Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader Mohammed Yousuf Tarigami was met with conditions by the court allowing a meeting between the two leaders. The petition remains pending and was last listed on 28 January.
The case against the detention of Kashmir Bar Association president Mian Abdul Qayoom lasted almost as long as his detention period, with the court suggesting his early release and the government accepting the suggestion, while not giving any answers on the legality of the detention.
Awami National Conference (ANC) leader Muzaffar Ahmad Shah had approached the High Court on 11 September last year along with his family, alleging that they had been detained. Srinagar authorities told the court that they had not been put under house arrest. While the court did not look into the allegations of illegal detention, it passed directions to withdraw the security personnel deputed at their residence in March.
4G internet remains suspended in UT
Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir’s Lieutenant Governor GK Murmu said that high-speed internet should not be an issue days after the home ministry said no to the restoration of 4G internet in the Union Territory. The Jammu and Kashmir administration, however, ordered to continue the curb on internet speed across the Union Territory in an order released on Wednesday that says that internet speed shall be restricted to 2G only and available on post-paid sim cards. Orders were passed by authorities on 4, 17 and 26 March restricting internet speed for mobile data services to 2G. The order has brought concerns about not being able to access telemedicine and information from the government on the coronavirus pandemic.
Slamming the Centre’s attempt to hide what is happening in the Valley by shutting down 4G services, Farooq Abdullah said, "Every country in the world knows what is happening here. Packing up media, shutting telephones down, and using your media to put false stories -- one day this will rebound on you. When you will be sitting in the opposition and you have to answer for your misdeeds," he said.
Officials, on the other hand, cited relaxations in curbs within two weeks of abrogation of Article 370 when seventeen landlines exchanges out of 96 were restored. “Postpaid mobile services were re-activated on 14 October last year, however, 4G internet services still continue to remain suspended,” an official said.

Obama, Soros, and Looney Left “in the trenches”
We knew Obama would be back. Now just like Swarzeneggar saying “I’ll be back” in his popular Terminator movie; we have four more years of Barack Obama. Somewhere in the back allies of D.C. dark shadowy characters from beyond the grave are plotting the next moves of the two term Democrat and unlicensed American citizen; Barack ‘The Hussein’ Obama. A shadowy personage himself who is lawless, Barack Obama did more to harm America than any other president.
This slideshow requires JavaScript.
“Man, once surrendering his reason, has no remaining guard against absurdities the most monstrous, and like a ship without rudder, is the sport of every wind. With such persons, gullibility, which they call faith, takes the helm from the hand of reason and the mind becomes a wreck.” –Thomas Jefferson, letter to James Smith, 1822
Continue in post to view special related video between Rush Limbaugh and Chris Wallace
Obama, Soros, and Looney Left “in the trenches”
Yet everyone in the movies from Holly to Bollywood loved Barack, or so it seemed. Well, not everyone surely! Talk shows loved him. CNN anchors swooned and cried at his presence. Then when he left and successor Attila the hun “Hilleeeerrrryyy” did not win, all hell broke loose.
Psa 37:34-40 (34) Wait on the LORD and keep his way, and he shall exalt thee to inherit the earth; when the wicked are cut off, thou shalt see it. (35) I have seen the wicked in great power and spreading himself like a green bay tree. (36) Yet he passed away, and, behold, he was not: I sought him, but he could not be found. (37) Mark the perfect, and behold the upright, for the end of each one of them is peace. (38) But the rebels were destroyed all together; the wicked were cut off in the end. (39) But the salvation of the righteous is the LORD; he is their strength in the time of trouble. (40) And the LORD helped them and delivers them; he shall deliver them from the wicked and save them because they wait in him.
So now from the dark recess of his office in DC this former President will plot through his “shadow government” ways to stop Donald Trump from unwinding his myriad of New world order and communist orders he signed into law over the course of eight years. Still in the White House are some of his minions, and in the structures of the D.C. offices and bureau’s are more of Obama’s minions. All with liberals, Mexicans, Homosexuals, Lesbians, and many other Obama supporters who plan on pushing their agenda down the throats of America.
Rush Limbaugh exposed Obama’s ‘shadow government’ that is working to hurt and undermine President Trump. Chris Wallace asked him about it.
“You also use a phrase which I have to say that I only heard for the first time in the last couple of weeks, “the deep state.” And that’s the notion that there’s an Obama shadow government embedded in the bureaucracy that is working against this new president. I think that some folks are going to think that’s right on and some folks will think it’s awfully conspiratorial,” said Chris Wallace
To Hell with “Make America Great Again”, these people are anti-capitalist, anti-constitutionalist, and definitely don’t like any thought of closing borders. They want to be just like the E.U. and the U.K., overrun with refugees who molest their women, murder, and want to bring worldwide Islamic control to the places they live. Even if they may not want this, the push for open borders like Obama and like the E.U., will do just that; bring America down!
Simply Put the left wing courts, left wing media, and the left wing Obama supporters left in the White House and in the Government itself are all out to sabotage Donald Trumps Presidency. Backed by Soros and the Obama machines, both of which support thousands of other left wing groups, the fight in on for the fundamental backbone of this nation!
It would be a good laugh if this were not really happening. Even today on Presidents day, no rest for the proverbial “wicked” as they go about their protests against Trump. It doesn’t matter that Trump had a rally of his own in Florida where thousands of his followers stood in a crowded hanger to listen to the President. It doesn’t matter that this President won, a fact that now we know the extra votes that Hillary received were from “Illegals”. Although the Dem’s deny this, we know that “Up to 2 million non-citizens were registered to vote”. Something the Democratic party has pushed time and again during national elections, howbeit quickly and under the radar.
Now that Spring is almost here and Summer is not too far off, the battle is not going to end soon. The Obama and Soros led minions intend to demonstrate throughout the year. The first big push I believe will be in the spring as soon as they can get on the streets in nice weather.
It doesn’t do any good to let their anti-American demonstrations bother you. The fact is, from these leftists we have a one sided voice. They don’t mind hearing their own voice speaking out but they despise the conservatives and the so called “Ultra conservatives” and do not think any of these have a right to a voice. Neither do they like others who may disagree with them. We have seen their violence, burning, thug tactics beating up Trump supporters, and in all this they violate what America is about. They push violence. They push an agenda that is violent in nature and makes enemies out of all peace loving Americans.
For all Trump Supporters, your voice is needed to stand tall and tough. But the real issue is for Donald Trump to actually get some action done on his border and immigration push, his Obamacare repeal, and many other issues.
As for Obama and Soros, they are not American; surely not in the same camp of belief as many Americans who look on the original founding fathers as True Americans. They do not agree with nor like the US constitution but will use it for their agendas. Let me repeat this so you understand; “They do not like the nation, the founding fathers, and the fact that this was a major Christian nation”. The fight for the soul of America is on! For the most part through Obama, much has been done both by him and the democrats to bring their version of an open America to fruition. We have seen Obama’s America. The people spoke and the many who voted Trump in, from Democrats to Republicans and many in between all did not like what Barack did to this nation.
The generation of young who follow Obama and Soros, being led to destroy with violent protests issue forth their challenges. They never understood nor learned who we really are!
“Let the American youth never forget, that they possess a noble inheritance, bought by the toils, and sufferings, and blood of their ancestors; and capacity, if wisely improved, and faithfully guarded, of transmitting to their latest posterity all the substantial blessings of life, the peaceful enjoyment of liberty, property, religion, and independence.” —Joseph Story, Commentaries on the Constitution, 1833

Compelled to Worship
When we experience God’s mercy, it shows. Our instincts change and our priorities shift from gratifying our own ego to making much of God. We stop fearing what others think of us and find our identity grounded in Christ. It’s a transformation that shows God is working in our lives. Paul recognized the transformative power of the gospel, and it drove his ministry. This is evidenced in his second letter to the Corinthian church:
“Just as we have been shown mercy, we do not lose heart, but we have renounced shameful hidden things, not behaving with craftiness or adulterating the word of God, but with the open proclamation of the truth commending ourselves to every person’s conscience before God” (2 Cor 4:1–2).
Paul wasn’t manipulating or distorting the good news for his own gain, as some were doing in the community. He preached the good news to all people with openness and sincerity. He allowed the gospel to convict people as it should, refusing to distort it to make people comfortable. He proclaimed “Christ Jesus as Lord” and he and his disciples as “slaves for the sake of Jesus” to those in Corinth (2 Cor 4:5). Bound to Christ, they lived as free slaves for His cause. They were solely dedicated to Jesus because they wanted to be, and because of the salvation He had brought them.
Psalm 36 provides an illustration of Paul’s approach, highlighting the qualities of those who don’t fear God. This person is characterized by “rebellion in the midst of his heart” (Psa 36:1). He is self-absorbed and rejects his need: “he flatters himself in his eyes, hating to detect his iniquity” (Psa 36:2). He is deceitful (Psa 36:3).
The psalmist doesn’t contrast this picture with one of the righteous man. Instead, he honors Yahweh—His loyal love, faithfulness, righteousness, and judgments (Psa 36:5–6).
The psalmist says, “For with you is the fountain of life; in your light we see light” (Psa 36:9). Paul echoes “For God … is the one who has shined in our hearts for the enlightenment of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ” (2 Cor 4:6). God’s grace puts everything in perspective. Both passages help us assess with wisdom the message and posture of those who teach. They also challenge us to take a look at our own standing before God.
Take an honest look at what motivates you. Are you transformed by the good news? Is it apparent to others around you?

Opposition sees a deal in release of Farooq, Omar Abdullah
New Post has been published on https://apzweb.com/opposition-sees-a-deal-in-release-of-farooq-omar-abdullah/
Opposition sees a deal in release of Farooq, Omar Abdullah
NEW DELHI: The release of National Conference (NC) leaders Farooq and Omar Abdullah in quick succession has led to whispers among some opposition leaders about a possible deal with the Centre, although many of them have formally welcomed their release.
“We have no idea what all transpired before the release of the Abdullahs. But we won’t be surprised if they now gradually shift their main political discourse, from the opposition to the abrogation of Article 370 to demand for restoration of statehood to J&K and domicile clause as conditions for assembly polls, something that suits Delhi as well,” a senior opposition leader told ET on condition of anonymity.
While the authorities gave old age as the reason for the release of Farooq Abdullah, 82, on March 13, in his son Omar’s case it cited the Covid-19 outbreak. Much of the talk stems from the Abdullah family’s history of striking tactical understanding with the government of the day in Delhi, including the Indira-Sheikh Accord of 1975, the manner Farooq, after having left India to live abroad when militancy started in J&K, was made to join the J&K assembly election conducted by the Narasimha Rao regime and the way the NC pragmatically co-existed with the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government.
Another opposition leader said, “Clearly, the Centre and BJP want a multi-cornered contest in the Valley during the next J&K assembly polls. There appears to be a deft carrot-and-stick policy by using Apni Party (recently launched third front) and other cards. The NC seems to have fallen for the bait. Now, watch out PDP other smaller outfits!”
Omar Abdullah, on his part, made an appeal for Mufti’s appeal after he was released, among other comments on Twitter, including on the fitness routine he had evolved during the detention period.
Opposition leaders also pointed to what they termed potentially significant events preceding the arrest and release of the Abdullahs. For instance, just three days before they were arrested on August 5 last year, the Abdullahs had a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. And on July 31, the media had reported that Farooq Abdullah was grilled by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with the alleged Rs 113 crore scam in the J&K Cricket Association which the CBI was also probing.
Within days of their arrest, they (and others including Mufti) were booked under the stringent Public Safety Act (PSA). In between, the Centre “encouraged” talks among assorted smaller parties of J&K to form a Third Front – now named Apni Party, led by ex-PDP leader Altaf Bukhari – which was seen as aimed at weakening the NC’s traditional hold in the Valley, where the PDP had emerged in some parts and the Congress now only has a few fading patches.
By early February came reports of former RAW chief AS Dulat holding a discreet “courtesy meeting” with detained Farooq, after permission from the Union home ministry. Later, NC central secretary Rattan Lal Gupta wrote to the chief elector officer stating that the NC was “a strong votary of democratic process” and also wished to participate in the second phase of the panchayat polls, provided the “roadblock” (detention of Abdullahs and others) was removed.
Many opposition parties noted that the NC’s letter to the CEO not only did not make a demand for reversal of abrogation of Article 370 as a condition for joining panchayat polls but the party also shifted from its stand of boycotting the first phase of the polls. With the NC taking the lead, other opposition parties too were forced to follow suit, although the polls were later postponed. Many leaders are now waiting to see whether authorities will take steps to release others as well, including Mufti, Shah Faesal and Sajad Lone.

Lord, I am so thankful that You are my Shepherd, and that no matter how deep the valley or dark the pit, You have gone before me and made a way. Forgive me when I complain that the way You have made for me is harder than I want it to be. I surrender my life to you, Lord, my God, and my Shepherd. In Jesus’ Name, Amen. - Mary Southerland
[Psa 45:1-17 ESV] 1 To the choirmaster: according to Lilies. A Maskil of the Sons of Korah; a love song. My heart overflows with a pleasing theme; I address my verses to the king; my tongue is like the pen of a ready scribe. 2 You are the most handsome of the sons of men; grace is poured upon your lips; therefore God has blessed you forever. 3 Gird your sword on your thigh, O mighty one, in your splendor and majesty! 4 In your majesty ride out victoriously for the cause of truth and meekness and righteousness; let your right hand teach you awesome deeds! 5 Your arrows are sharp in the heart of the king's enemies; the peoples fall under you. 6 Your throne, O God, is forever and ever. The scepter of your kingdom is a scepter of uprightness; 7 you have loved righteousness and hated wickedness. Therefore God, your God, has anointed you with the oil of gladness beyond your companions; 8 your robes are all fragrant with myrrh and aloes and cassia. From ivory palaces stringed instruments make you glad; 9 daughters of kings are among your ladies of honor; at your right hand stands the queen in gold of Ophir. 10 Hear, O daughter, and consider, and incline your ear: forget your people and your father's house, 11 and the king will desire your beauty. Since he is your lord, bow to him. 12 The people of Tyre will seek your favor with gifts, the richest of the people. 13 All glorious is the princess in her chamber, with robes interwoven with gold. 14 In many-colored robes she is led to the king, with her virgin companions following behind her. 15 With joy and gladness they are led along as they enter the palace of the king. 16 In place of your fathers shall be your sons; you will make them princes in all the earth. 17 I will cause your name to be remembered in all generations; therefore nations will praise you forever and ever.
[Jer 23:9-40 ESV] 9 Concerning the prophets: My heart is broken within me; all my bones shake; I am like a drunken man, like a man overcome by wine, because of the LORD and because of his holy words. 10 For the land is full of adulterers; because of the curse the land mourns, and the pastures of the wilderness are dried up. Their course is evil, and their might is not right. 11 "Both prophet and priest are ungodly; even in my house I have found their evil, declares the LORD. 12 Therefore their way shall be to them like slippery paths in the darkness, into which they shall be driven and fall, for I will bring disaster upon them in the year of their punishment, declares the LORD. 13 In the prophets of Samaria I saw an unsavory thing: they prophesied by Baal and led my people Israel astray. 14 But in the prophets of Jerusalem I have seen a horrible thing: they commit adultery and walk in lies; they strengthen the hands of evildoers, so that no one turns from his evil; all of them have become like Sodom to me, and its inhabitants like Gomorrah." 15 Therefore thus says the LORD of hosts concerning the prophets: "Behold, I will feed them with bitter food and give them poisoned water to drink, for from the prophets of Jerusalem ungodliness has gone out into all the land." 16 Thus says the LORD of hosts: "Do not listen to the words of the prophets who prophesy to you, filling you with vain hopes. They speak visions of their own minds, not from the mouth of the LORD. 17 They say continually to those who despise the word of the LORD, 'It shall be well with you'; and to everyone who stubbornly follows his own heart, they say, 'No disaster shall come upon you.'" 18 For who among them has stood in the council of the LORD to see and to hear his word, or who has paid attention to his word and listened? 19 Behold, the storm of the LORD! Wrath has gone forth, a whirling tempest; it will burst upon the head of the wicked. 20 The anger of the LORD will not turn back until he has executed and accomplished the intents of his heart. In the latter days you will understand it clearly. 21 "I did not send the prophets, yet they ran; I did not speak to them, yet they prophesied. 22 But if they had stood in my council, then they would have proclaimed my words to my people, and they would have turned them from their evil way, and from the evil of their deeds. 23 "Am I a God at hand, declares the LORD, and not a God far away? 24 Can a man hide himself in secret places so that I cannot see him? declares the LORD. Do I not fill heaven and earth? declares the LORD. 25 I have heard what the prophets have said who prophesy lies in my name, saying, 'I have dreamed, I have dreamed!' 26 How long shall there be lies in the heart of the prophets who prophesy lies, and who prophesy the deceit of their own heart, 27 who think to make my people forget my name by their dreams that they tell one another, even as their fathers forgot my name for Baal? 28 Let the prophet who has a dream tell the dream, but let him who has my word speak my word faithfully. What has straw in common with wheat? declares the LORD. 29 Is not my word like fire, declares the LORD, and like a hammer that breaks the rock in pieces? 30 Therefore, behold, I am against the prophets, declares the LORD, who steal my words from one another. 31 Behold, I am against the prophets, declares the LORD, who use their tongues and declare, 'declares the LORD.' 32 Behold, I am against those who prophesy lying dreams, declares the LORD, and who tell them and lead my people astray by their lies and their recklessness, when I did not send them or charge them. So they do not profit this people at all, declares the LORD. 33 "When one of this people, or a prophet or a priest asks you, 'What is the burden of the LORD?' you shall say to them, 'You are the burden, and I will cast you off, declares the LORD.' 34 And as for the prophet, priest, or one of the people who says, 'The burden of the LORD,' I will punish that man and his household. 35 Thus shall you say, every one to his neighbor and every one to his brother, 'What has the LORD answered?' or 'What has the LORD spoken?' 36 But 'the burden of the LORD' you shall mention no more, for the burden is every man's own word, and you pervert the words of the living God, the LORD of hosts, our God. 37 Thus you shall say to the prophet, 'What has the LORD answered you?' or 'What has the LORD spoken?' 38 But if you say, 'The burden of the LORD,' thus says the LORD, 'Because you have said these words, "The burden of the LORD," when I sent to you, saying, "You shall not say, 'The burden of the LORD,'" 39 therefore, behold, I will surely lift you up and cast you away from my presence, you and the city that I gave to you and your fathers. 40 And I will bring upon you everlasting reproach and perpetual shame, which shall not be forgotten.'"
[2Co 3:1-18 ESV] 1 Are we beginning to commend ourselves again? Or do we need, as some do, letters of recommendation to you, or from you? 2 You yourselves are our letter of recommendation, written on our hearts, to be known and read by all. 3 And you show that you are a letter from Christ delivered by us, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts. 4 Such is the confidence that we have through Christ toward God. 5 Not that we are sufficient in ourselves to claim anything as coming from us, but our sufficiency is from God, 6 who has made us sufficient to be ministers of a new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit. For the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life. 7 Now if the ministry of death, carved in letters on stone, came with such glory that the Israelites could not gaze at Moses' face because of its glory, which was being brought to an end, 8 will not the ministry of the Spirit have even more glory? 9 For if there was glory in the ministry of condemnation, the ministry of righteousness must far exceed it in glory. 10 Indeed, in this case, what once had glory has come to have no glory at all, because of the glory that surpasses it. 11 For if what was being brought to an end came with glory, much more will what is permanent have glory. 12 Since we have such a hope, we are very bold, 13 not like Moses, who would put a veil over his face so that the Israelites might not gaze at the outcome of what was being brought to an end. 14 But their minds were hardened. For to this day, when they read the old covenant, that same veil remains unlifted, because only through Christ is it taken away. 15 Yes, to this day whenever Moses is read a veil lies over their hearts. 16 But when one turns to the Lord, the veil is removed. 17 Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. 18 And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.
Amen.

It's soon 36 years since the first massive demonstration against "Löntagarfonder" took place the very same day as the Swedish Parliament's opening, and went from Humlegården to the Chancellor's House in the Old Town of Stockholm where a letter was delivered requesting that the government stop the "employee funds."
In a lengthy article over at the Jacobin, Kjell Östberg explains the many factors and political waves that eventually led to this, and how close Sweden almost was heading to pure socialism: Sweden’s extraordinary wave of reforms in the 1970s, an era of explosive radicalism, reveal the achievements — and the limits — of social democracy. He will show you how Sweden eventually came up with the idea of wage-earner funds. The idea was that every year, a portion of the profits of Sweden’s large and medium-sized companies, as shares, was to be transferred to funds controlled by the unions. This would be called "Löntagarfonder."
As your friendly resident adnerd, however, I just wanted to share the ads that helped get people involved. Demonstrations and grassroots engagement doesn't just spring from nowhere. Political ads are still advertising. Today we may have super PACs and Falun Gong buying tonnes of Facebook ads, while young climate activists are PRed into the press daily and onto covers of men's magazines on occasion. Back then the politically active youth made buttons, wrote pamphlets and printed up spot colour posters while the business leaders wrote opinion pieces and organized rallies.
SAF, Swedish Employers' Association, launched two big media campaigns in 1979.
SAF, Swedish Employers' Association, launched two big media campaigns in 1979. "Bet on yourself" (Satsa på dig själv) and "free enterprise is good for Sweden" (Fri företagsamhet - bra för Sverige), with headlines like "Profitable companies give job security" and "Profitable companies do it better." These billboards were in the subway, and full-page ads were in business magazines.
Employee wage earners’ funds were an idea launched by LO, the Swedish Association of Trade Unions, in the early 1970s, which meant that ownership in the business sector would be transferred to the trade unions with the aim of reducing the owners' power. A proposal was prepared by LO economist Rudolf Meidner and adopted by the LO Congress in 1976, which meant that 20 percent of a company's profit each year would be converted into shares and accrued to a union-managed fund.
A growing fear of these funds actually led family-owned and entrepreneurial companies and their founders to pack up and leave Sweden, including some of the most Swedish brand names that you know today like IKEA (Ingvar Kamprand), Tetra Pak (The Rausing family) and H&M (The Persson family). A pamphlet named "Free enterprise or fund socialism" ("Fritt näringsliv eller fondsocialism" ) penned by SAF official and economist Danne Nordling in 1978 was the start of a more organized resistance. Due to this, the Social Democrats avoided the topic completely in the 1982 election campaign.
"YOU! Join us! Now!" shouts this poster that invites people to meetings and debates about the wage funds, the 27th of August.
While the Social Democrats may have wanted to avoid the issue during their election campaign, their conservative opposition did not. The Moderates youth party created posters attacking the idea of the wage funds specifically.
"The new parliament house" reads the headline here - "Det nya riksdagshuset"
"The new parliament house" reads the red headline on a photograph of the Swedish Association of Trade Unions headquarters. "We are heading towards a corporative society. If the funds are implemented, it will be realized "
By using only spot colour, and that somewhat evil-looking image of the LO-building, the youth organisation from the Moderates communicate an urgency as well as an alternative future that looks rather grim.
"Imorgon kan han vara din chef"
"Tomorrow he could be your boss" reads this poster, with the sender listed as "free Moderate student group"
The Social Democrats won the 1982 elections, and people thought they may not implement the idea of wage funds. (See one of their campaign ads from 1985, directed by Roy Andersen, here)
When, on June 30, 1983, the government presented a memorandum of ministry with a ready proposal, the public reaction was fierce. At the beginning of July, Småland's entrepreneurs, led by Gunnar Randholm, CEO and owner of Eldon AB in Nässjö, wrote letters to business organizations and suggested that the country's entrepreneurs, through a large manifestation, show their opposition to collective wage funds.
"I fond-Sverige styr facket" poster 1982
Gunnar Nilsson, the chairman of the Swedish Trade Union Confederation, is depicted shaking hands with himself and the headline "In wage fund-Sweden, the unions rule" in another poster created by the youth wing of the Moderate party in 1982.
"Löntagarfonder - Helknäppt", a pun idea where a button is depicted on a button, but also the word "helknäppt" means crazy as well as fully buttoned up. To the right, a 4th of October button.
The largest demonstration against the employee wage funds was on October 4, 1983.
A large proportion of the protesters travelled to Stockholm from all over the country in a gigantic transport apparatus organized by the business organizations. They had arrived in Stockholm in 60 extra rail cars, 200 buses, a number of charter planes and a large number of private cars.
This massive demonstration with over 75,000 people according to media reports and over 100,000 according to the business organisations, failed to stop the introduction of the employee funds, even though the original proposal was somewhat watered down.
The bill on employee funds was adopted by the Swedish Parliament on December 21, 1983 and introduced by the Palme II Government in 1984. It was abolished by the Bildt (from the Moderate party) government after the 1991 bourgeois election victory.
