Black Friday PS5 SSD Upgrade - 2TB for $156
MSI Spatium M470 2TB PCIe 4.0 SSD - $140 after rebate
(what is a Spatium? lol) This here is a proper SSD with fast TLC chips and a DRAM cache (albeit a small one). None of this sneaky QLC or dramless corner-cutting nonsense. Guru3D review of MSI M470 compares it favorably to Samsung 980 Pro.
+ DAMOMCO NVMe SSD Heatsink for PS5 - $7–10
(“DAMOMCO”?! The Asian Amazon brand name generator literally came up with Da Mom Co? I’m dying.) Yesterday they gave me a $3 off coupon, today it’s only 5% off, oh well. Replaces the unhelpful aluminum SSD slot cover on the PS5 with a big chonky heatsink that’s way beefier than a typical SSD heatsink, and helps the SSD get cooled by the PS5 fan. Better than just leaving the slot open, keeps dust out.
+ MECCANIXITY Graphene-coated Copper Heatsink 1.5mm - $9
(“MECCANIXITY” sounds like a Black Mirror dystopian sequel to Multiplicity perhaps?) This cools the underside of the SSD since it’s a double-sided blade that runs hot. Rubber band it around the bottom of the SSD with a thermal pad in between, then add thermal pads on the top side, on either side of the rubber bands, then install the big heatsink on top.

>>reinstalling whatever current windows OS is on the market
AWKA. I NEED you to tell me sike RIGHT NOW you are NOT actually buying a new copy of windows for each hard drive right. RIGHT?
Your windows license is tied to your motherboard these days not your harddrive.
Anyway, while you totally can keep buying more drives and that's fine?
Because of the PS5, NVME SSD drives are SO CHEAP. Cheaper than the normal SSDs by almost half. They're around 60USD per TERAbyte right now. Just get yourself a 4/8TB NVME and be done with the rat race, babe.
NVMEs are the ones that look like an expansion card instead of a drive, and they're like 2x faster than a standard SSD anyway. They do take up a PCIe slot however.
But shit, mate, look at this:
That's FOUR count 'em FOUR TB of space for $160 US. That's fuuuucking bonkers.
Um anyway your thing is FINE but AWKA PLEASE tell me you aren't buying a new windows each time??????
this is less a tech support question and more a tech BUYING question:
i plan to buy a new cpu at bare minimum next year. (gonna use my hopeful tax return money + birthday money + holiday money to afford some of it)
what i currently have now is an asus prime Z390-A motherboard and an i5-9600k. i plan on sticking with intel and going for some type of i7 or i9. my usage is video games that tend to be cpu load heavy, but nothing like video editing, advanced rendering etc. my questions are:
should i be looking at models and prices NOW or wait until next year when i actually have money? i have no idea what to budget for because i'm still actually undecided if i should go for i7 or i9. (yes i know that doesnt explain much because there are different i7s and i9s.)
will i most likely need a new motherboard? (tbh i am not a fan of asus motherboards, so if i do need a new one, any brand recs?)
IF i need a new motherboard, is it also worth splurging on a next gen gpu? (my current one is an RTX 2060 Super with 8gm of VRAM)
IF i need a new motherboard, should i also splurge for more RAM? I know ram is cheap af. currently i have 16gb. Is it worth getting any more?
my power supply is 750w, so i am not too worried about that
@vergess @arionwind do you guys know what the market is like rn for pc parts? i would be using microcenter.
:( i asked my parents if we could swap cpus because they have the better cpu rn and they don't even utilize it to its full capacity because all they do is browse the internet and they said NO ugh

PlayStation 5 versus Xbox Series X: Seagate storage expansion card tips the scales in Microsoft's favor
PlayStation 5 versus Xbox Series X: Seagate storage expansion card tips the scales in Microsoft’s favor
Sifting through Sony’s stringent requirements for storage expansion on the PlayStation 5 earlier in the day really got me thinking — why do we buy a game console? Do we buy it because it’s cheaper? You know, than say, building a PC. Do we get it because it’s easy? Since it’s all plug and play mostly and it stays that way for the rest of its life. Or do we buy it because it takes up less space in…

today installed m.2 PCIe gen 4 ssd into my PS5 🕹expansion slot the “Seagate 4TB FireCuda 530 PCIe 4.0 x4 NVMe M.2 Internal SSD with Heatsink” purchased on thurs 11-3-22 and delivered to front door via fed ex sun 11-6-22 from B&H photo video audio website bhphotovideo.com for a whopping price of $559.99 but it would been more of a whopper if it didn’t include a $400 discount from initial price of 959.99- initially i seen it on bestbuy.com last month and requested an email for restock but no restock then decided to research for alternative stores and holy moly b&h had a price match of exact item as bestbuy- don’t have to worry about not having enough space to add new games📀💪🏼 https://www.instagram.com/p/CkotP6VJOzI/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

HOW TO UPGRADE PS5 STORAGE – REQUIREMENTS AND PROCEDURE
We have tackled numerous PS5 blogs up until now, covering everything and anything we could. This blog comes in with great news about an update that had every PS5 user jump in excitement.
Tumblr media
So, what exactly is it?
Now, we all know how powerful the next-gen console, the PS5 is. It comes with a seamless gaming experience in 4K accentuated by the amazing DualSense controllers with its unprecedented features. However, one thing that made us frown was the PS5 storage The console comes with a total storage of 825 GB out of which only 667 GB storage can be used. And let’s be honest, the 667 GB cannot hold all our favourite titles, applications and media together. Of course, we can use an external hard drive and store all our games in there but transferring them back and forth can be a tedious job for many.
So, Sony brought us an update regarding the expansion of PS5 storage. According to the update, the console’s storage can be expanded easily by installing an internal SSD.
Below, we have a complete guide to help you select the correct SSD for your console and how to install the same.
What requirements should be met by the SSD to be compatible with your PS5 storage?
It is very important to know exactly which SSD are compatible with your PS5. The PS5 is a dynamic console with games that often require extremely fast read speeds. In such cases, a regular hard drive wouldn’t be able to keep up.
Sony has made it very clear that the SSD needs to follow all the requirements mentioned by them to avoid any damage to the console. The SSD that you need should be PCle Gen4 x4 M.2 NVMe SSD. Make sure that the SSD isn’t bigger than 11.25mm in height and 25mm in width. Also, your internal SSD should have a heatsink connected to it. Now, these may seem very difficult to find but rest assured as a lot of big mainstreams as well as other manufacturers produce these.
Apart from this, there is a list of requirements that you need to follow in order to have a seamless gaming experience after installing an internal SSD. Click here to see a detailed list of requirements your internal SSD should follow to safely expand your PS5 storage.
The procedure to upgrade your PS5 storage
Now, this may seem very technical and tacky to a lot. However, you shouldn’t worry much as we have the best and most easy step to step guide to install your internal SSD.
Before you begin, make sure you have a screwdriver (cross-headed), your phone’s torch or flashlight if possible and a clean flat surface to work on.
Step 1: Disconnect all the cables and wires connected to the console. Lie your console down. Make sure the logo is facing downwards.
Step 2: You need to remove the cover plate by gently placing your palm against the cover and sliding it off. Hearing a ‘Click’ while doing so is absolutely normal.
Step 3: Next, start unscrewing the screws one by one. All the screws that you need to remove using your screw-driver are- the expansion slot cover screw, screws beneath the spacer.
Step 4: Now insert your M.2 SSD inside the space. Make sure that the SSD is facing upwards diagonally.
Step 5: After you are satisfied with the position of your SSD, secure the same in its place using a screw that is already available with your console.
Step 6: Put the expansion slot cover back in its place and secure it with its screw. Next, slide the outer cover plate over the console. You should hear a click when the cover is placed successfully.
Step 7: Now, that the SSD has been installed, you can connect all the cables back to their respective places and Switch on the console. As soon as your console is on, it should display a sort of formatting guide. Start by clicking on the Format M.2 SSD through the ‘X’ on your controller.
Step 8: After your SSD is formatted, it will display the read speed. Make sure that the read speed is above 5500 MB/s.
Step 9: Now, that your SSD has been formatted successfully, you can start transferring your applications and games by clicking on Settings and then Storage and then Installation Location.
We hope you find this blog informative and useful in upgrading your PS5 storage.
We at HG World strive to enable an environment that offers equal representation to everyone and anyone who loves gaming and would like to share the love with everyone around. Feel free to contact us regarding anything gaming related and we will be more than happy to help you.
See you next time, until then Happy Gaming!
