Inktober Day 31 - Halloween Town Sora

Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. (1998)

This is one of the first games I remember playing, came out 3 years before I was born. To this day I listen to songs like Lon Lon ranch and it’s more than just a song in a video game. I grew up on a farm around horses every summer, the melodies and midi singing speaks to that experience. I’m not peering into a world I long to be in, I’m letting my worlds collide.

my entire twitter feed is full of people discovering piglet's big game for the first time bc of how creepy the music and some of the levels are. meanwhile im here like. that was one of my core childhood games i played the fuck out of that when i was younger

It just hit me that Insomniac didn't do the two protagonists thing for the first time and they executed it quite well, very recently too.

In Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. Which came out two years before MSM2.

Compared to MSM2, they handled Ratchet and Rivet so well, they both got their time to shine and their stories tie in very nicely. Meanwhile, Peter and Miles' stories felt very disjointed and didn't tie-in as well. But looking at Rift Apart, Insomniac can handle two protagonists.

I guess it shows which game had more creative control, and which game was a victim of corporate meddling and rewrites. And yes, I'm aware there were different writers + slightly different teams working on each game, but the point still stands. Rift Apart feels more like a passion project meanwhile MSM2 felt more corporate (esp with that horrid Colgate ass Adidas suit they slapped onto Miles 💀 Miles I'm so sorry they did that to you)

Also, Rift Apart is a really fun game y'all should play it if you're a fan of Insomniac Spider-Man.
