Setting the table, you tried to calm your nerves as you watched the clock tick closer and closer until your mom and dad would come home.

You were plating up dinner when you heard the door open and close.

“(Y/N)?”

“Kitchen mom!” You called.

Your dad came through and you looked up at him with a small smile as you stepped aside to show him the food.

Lucifer smiled brightly as he took in the carefully made meal.

“What’s the occasion?” He smiled.

“Just wanted to cook.”

Lucifer smiled and kissed your head, helping you carry everything to the table while your mom sat waiting.

“So this is why you didn’t come by?” She smiled.

You nodded and sat down, quietly eating your food.

You listened to your mom and dad talk about work and what they had done for the day and you sat there quietly lost in your own head.

Chloe noticed this and she tapped lucifer who also turned his attention to you and they both shared a look as they frowned.

“Sweetheart?” Chloe asked softly.

You snapped out of your head and looked at your mom.

“What’s on your mind?”

“You know you can tell us anything, right?” Lucifer said softly.

You sighed, and finally you realised you couldn’t keep putting it off.

You needed to tell them, you’d thought of every way possible but you couldn’t think of anything else now, so you decided to just come out with it.

“I’m non-binary!” You blurted.

“You’re… what?” Chloe asked you confused.

You sighed and started to explain everything to her, Lucifer smiled at you, giving a small nod of his head so you carried on talking.

And after what felt like an hour you finally stopped talking and anxiously waited for a response.

“Okay.” Chloe said.

“Okay?”

She smiled and nodded, getting up as she walked over, placing her hand on your shoulder.

“If that’s who you are then it’s okay…” she whispered.

You quickly threw your arms around her neck and hugged her tightly, a weight having been lifted from your shoulders.

“You are whoever are (Y/N), and we’ll always accept you for that…” lucifer whispered.

He came over and joined the hug, and you smiled brightly hugging him as well.

These are some possible translations. Notice that there is not a direct equivalent of responsibility and there are multiple ways for translating "must".

So I'm a Science Spider, not a Language Spider. Trying to make a motto for emails and such that means: "Knowledge is power, and with great power, there must also come great responsibility." Google says: "Scientia potentia est et cum potentia magna venit magnus responsabilitate", should work. But I don't know enough Latin syntax to confirm and my searches about it are confusing. Are there any Latin enthusiasts on here?

I've actually never never watched "Fate The Winx Saga", but got interested now as you're writing for it. 😅 So how about a reader, who is from our world but suddenly wake up in the universe of the show? Maybe they are found by one of the characters who than has to explain everything... 😝😂 - @prudentia-potentia-est 💜

You had no clue what happened, one moment you were trying to go to sleep the next everything was completely black and you were waking up in a greenhouse.

Blinking, you looked around and slowly sat up, groaning as you held your hand to your head.

“Easy now, you had quite the fall.”

You looked at the man coming over and you grabbed the nearest object, which happened to be a broom and pointed it at him.

“I just want to check you’re okay.” He said, raising his hands.

“Don’t come any closer! I.. I’ll hurt you!”

He nodded his head and took a step back.

“How about names? I’m Ben Harvey. I assume you’re (Y/N) (L/N)?” He asked.

“How do you know my name?”

Another man and a woman came around the corner and you backed up a little more. The woman smiled, holding her hands up and the other male held up your bag.

“We were trying to figure out who you were. We found a lot of cards in there.”

“I go to a lot of places, why’re you going through my bag you creep. Give it back.”

He tossed the back over to you.

“I’m Farah Dowling. This is Saul Silva, and you, apparently do not belong here.” She said.

You rolled your eyes, picking up your back and sitting down to make sure everything was in there.

“Well obviously not. Take me home.”

“We can’t.” Saul said.

“Why not?! You brought me here!”

“Actually…” Ben mumbled.

The three of them shared a look and you swung your bag back on your shoulder.

“We don’t know how you got here. What were you doing before now?” Saul asked.

“Trying to sleep.”

“With your bag on?” Farah asked confused.

“I was tired okay, I’m pretty sure I put my keys in my fridge.”

They laughed softly and you stood back up, swinging the bag over your shoulder as you held up the broom again.

“Where is here?”

“You’re in Solaria. At Alfea, the school.” Farah said.

You rose a brow in confusion.

“It’s a school for Fairies and specialists. Im the specialists headmaster, Farah is the fairies headmistress. Ben is a professor. What’s this?”

Saul held out a card and you took it, looking at it.

“My word badge.”

“You have a lot of them.”

“I’m commander. I have access to a lot of places.”

“Like what?”

“Need to know basis. And you don’t need to know. Now get me home. Stop spouting crap and fairies and all that, they’re not real.”

Farah’s eyes changed colour and it felt like someone was inside your head and you quickly shook your head and she stopped.

“You broke your arm when you were six.”

“How the hell do you know?”

“I saw the memory. I didn’t pry don’t worry.”

You slowly backed away and they came closer so you threw the broom and ran.

You had no clue where you were going, but these people were insane and you could stay here so you ran.

You ran into the trees and broke branches in random directions, pulling the pocket knife out of your bag you dig it into some more trees.

You circled some, and used branches to swing yourself over others.

You had spent a lot of time practicing things like this, and you now had to put all those years of training to use to try and evade them.

The three did try chase after you, but the moment you were in those trees they lost you.

“They’re good.” Saul said.

Farah and Ben both nodded their heads.

“We need to find them before it gets dark, it’s not safe.” Farah asked.

She used her magic to try and track you, amplifying the sounds of the forest to listen for anything.

Kneeling under a tree, you lightly knocked on it and nodded your head, it was completely hollowed out so you began to dig.

You needed to create a space you could hide, and set up whatever traps you could.

They heard the sound of you digging and began to run in that direction.

They weren’t sure how you got there or why you were there, but they knew you didn’t belong there, so they had to keep you away from everything and try to figure out how to send you back home

This sucks. This is a loss for all humanity.

The National Museum, in Rio de Janeiro, just went up in flames. There were more than 20 million objects in the museum’s collection. The building itself housed the Portuguese Royal Family, and later the Brazilian Imperial Family back in the day. 

History and culture gone, just like that. All went up in flames.

This hurts so much to look at. :/ 

Apparently there were signs of decay all over the building, with actual wiring exposed. The museum was underfunded for the past 3 years and couldn’t afford research and maintenance.

talking outta my ass here, ‘cuz I am currently not entierly in possession of all my faculties:

On one hand the Vatican seeks to retro-actively legitimise the power they have, by taking and putting on displey cultural artifacts from middle-eastern and nothern african countries, or rather all the areas where all the Prophets mentioned in the O.T. and Jesus have set foot in at one point or the other. In the Egypt travelogue from the late 19th Cent. that I am reading for my Magister’s Thesis, there’re passages where the author straight up says that they just took stuff lying around, and at other times they reminisce about how Moses must’ve went that way, or how the holy family, while being refugees in Egypt, must have then this way and the like. And the more I read on in the travel, the more I got the impression, that the act of european (and even american) colonists/explorers/travellers just taking artifacts with them was done with the claim that - aside from boasting to friends at home - because they are christians, they have a right to those things because those places were mentioned in the Bible, thus making them part of the history of christianity. So yeah, they just took all that stuff, with the argument, among others, that “those” muslims don’t give a hoot about these antique treasures, so we christians must preserve them. So yeah, the Vatican having a lot of ancient egyptian stuff (through donations or straight up stealing from egypt themselves) and putting all that on display is a way to retro-actively legitimise its, and thus catholicism, power, influence and importance in the world.

On the other hands, various other artifacts taken from places that couldn’t possible have been mentioned by the Bible, such as the americas, or Japan, basically every place that was not connected to the precoursers of the Silk Road; displaying objects from those places, where the Vatican likely send Missionries to is a sign of power, like “Look, we went to those places to conquer and proselytize and we won. We drove back their heathen gods, and replaced them with Christ.”

And in general, gathering and collecting artifacts from different cultures; process and cataloguing them, and thus generating knowledge from them and then putting them on display is also a demonstration of power as in prudentia potentia est, knowledge is power.

But to also give the Vatican the benefit of the doubt: another reason why they’re displaying all those artifcats could be their way of cross-cultural out-reacht, of saying “hey yeah, there are other cultures and religions out there beside our own, and that is cool, too!” but I think we all know that that is rather unlikely...

Responsabilitas is uncommon, but not unheard of. I use this website to check any vocabulary. Also, why would it be nominative? The linking verb only shows up in the first line to link scientia with potentia, and it's not a modifying adjective. Prudentia (prudence or wisdom) might also work here, but I've never seen it translated as responsibility.

Venienda est does translate correctly to 'must come', but 'must come' is, indeed, hard to put in Latin because it's more of an English idiom. I went with the most direct word for come in Latin, but if you wanted more accuracy to what the original would have sounded like even if it sounds kind of strange in the English literal translation, you probably should use a different word. Opus est might work, but that is more "useful for" rather than necessity, hence why I use a gerundive of obligation. I think oportet (in gerundive form, oportenda est) would be the best substitute, and that would translate to something like "it must behoove", therefore "it must behoove great responsibility".

OP can make their choice from there.
