About the Apollo Proton Cancer Center

The Apollo Proton Cancer Center is the first proton center in Central India to treat cancer using protons. We use an advanced, non-invasive treatment called Proton Therapy for treating cancer. The patient is positioned on a gantry table and brought into close proximity of the cyclotron that produces the proton beam. This high-energy beam is then precisely aimed at the tumor. The goal of this technique is to deliver high radiation doses to tumors without compromising surrounding healthy tissue by adjusting both energy level and intensity of the proton beam during each fractionation session.Proton therapy is superior to conventional radiotherapy since it can sharply focus beams at different depths inside human body by controlling its shape, size and position relative to the targeted tumor. This substantial reduction of radiation to healthy tissue and organs surrounding the tumor leads to less damage and better outcomes and most importantly, longer survival periods with minimal side effects.Proton Therapy is a non-invasive technique that can precisely deliver high doses of radiation. The Proton Cancer Center uses the HTC Bragg Curve technology that allows optimal doses for cancerous lesions while minimizing dose to healthy tissues such as brain, spinal cord and heart. It also allows us to use lower dose rates resulting in reduced toxicity to normal tissues. The system has proven clinical benefits for treating cancerous lesions with accuracy 2% of human tissue tolerance level.This center was first in India to offer Proton Therapy combined with Stereotactic Radiotherapy (SBRT). This combination results in delivering high doses of targeted radiation treatment with reduced number of sessions, thus reducing the overall cost of therapy and side effects associated with radiations .The Apollo Proton Cancer Center offers Novel Stereotactic Radio Surgery System that delivers therapeutically effective doses precisely - making it an intelligent choice for your tumour treatment.
