'Watch your fingers,' the man warned, watching his partner trying to pet the beast in the back of the van. 'That one's managed to break a muzzle or two.' He lifted his arm and pulled up his sleeve to show a nasty bite, too large to be a dog's, and not that old. 

Kita growled, and would have snapped her teeth at him if it wasn't for the muzzle holding her jaws tightly shut. The partner drew back his hand immediately, looking at her nervously. She couldn't do much, her front legs and back legs chained, but she was intimidating all the same.

Two more agents and a prisoner joined them in a matter of minutes. With SHIELD short handed, they were having to make do with the resources they had which meant packing far too many bodies in the transport. Kita could smell the fear on the four guards and wondered if it had more to do with her, or the other prisoner, who they were all staring at apprehensively.

It wasn't long before Kita understood their nervousness. All four were unconscious on the floor of the van and the other prisoner was free. It had happened almost instantaneously and by the time she had gotten to her feet it was over. Straining on her chains, she pawed at one of the guards, trying to move him close enough to her to get the keys from him before she could shift and use them to unlock her chains.

It had taken a lot of processing, tests of his mind, body and cybernetics before they'd even let him undergo SHIELD training. At first he'd been dreading it, assuming that their training would be something akin to the training Hydra put him through. Lots of painful learning experiences if you weren't quick enough or smart enough.

It was nothing like that, it simply tested his limits, to his relief and before long he was finally field-ready.

His first mission? Grant Ward. Bring him in by any means necessary.

With his skills, his ability to track and follow someone unnoticed, as no one ever expected a raccoon to be a threat, it didn't take long. Especially due to his intricate knowledge of Hydra hangouts.

"So, Grant Ward, right?" Rocket breathed as the door opened, his gun trained on the doorway as he sat perched in wait on the windowsill of the hotel room.

9. Our muses decide to see who can catch the most snowflakes on their tongues, winner gets to bury the other in the snow.

The wintertime always seemed special for Skye - even now, when she was a fully-fledged S.H.I.E.L.D. agent and Ward was long done being her S.O.

Well, he was her S.O. but in an entirely different sense now - the former hacktivist had always had a soft spot for that tower of muscles that he was.

And she was so happy - practically a bumpy old self she was, when they left the Playground and landed somewhere in Canada, where - rumor had it - May's mother was living (Coulson gave them some time off, because you know - Christmas were approaching and all that), so one morning Skye practically bouncing up and down, dragged Grant, both still dressed only in pajamas. "Come on, Grant! I want to catch some flakes with my tongue!" She exclaimed, happily so.

"But!" She rose her index finger in front of his face. "Let's make it a contest! The winner gets to bury the loser in the snoooooow! Deal? Pleeeease?"

Skye wasn't sure she could deal with all any more. From the moment Grant left her and Caleb, everything seemed so pointless, she struggled more and more each day with the littlest things, the only thing that made her get up each day was Caleb and even then- even then it was an effort to keep going.

But today, it all seemed to much for her - Caleb was teething and nothing she could do would stop his tears, but the moment Simmons stepped in and lifted him up, he stopped. He was better off without her. Grant was too, that must have been the real reason for his leaving, he just painted it up as doing the best for her so she didn't feel bad about it all, but she knew the truth - at least she thought she did. 

"I can't." Her voice was empty, devoid of emotion - she didn't believe for a moment that Grant was here, perhaps she had finally cracked.

I'm not sure about that. Having multiple verses in a group verse sounds complicated.
