"I distinctly remember vowing never to set foot in the hallowed halls of the DMLE again." Draco thumbed back through the stack, stopping on the image of Ogden's shorn hair.

"You are prone to dramatic statements."

"Oh if that isn't the pot calling the kettle…" Draco shook his head. "If I walked in there and started spouting off unpublicised details about the crime scene, they'd probably arrest me."

"Mention the photos, I don't care." Theo shrugged. "Hermione basically told me she knows I have a source."

Draco narrowed his eyes, then looked down at the image of Ogden's prone body. He seemed so vulnerable. Pathetic. Like the killer had debased him somehow.

"Fuck, if it were anyone but Tiberius I'd wash my hands of it." Draco tipped back and crossed his arms.

"Department's changed since you were there last. Quite different with Potter and Granger in charge."

"And that's supposed to make it better?"

"Well, no. But face it; you're not going to be able to resist telling them they're wrong."

Ace Attorney x Castlevania crossover

I had an *epiphany* that I shared somewhere else earlier, but I added a few more plot points here. Loosely based on both series.

Lord Barok van Zieks plays the main role and gets a whip, because aesthetics. He has the build, the looks, the aura, the dedication, the determination, and the physical prowess to be a Castlevania protagonist. But fighting evil things is just his night job. During the day he is a prosecutor investigating crime scenes vampires left behind with the help of Herlock Sholmes, Dr. Iris Wilson aka Dr. Iris van Zieks, and Gina Lestrade. Of course, at that point they don't know yet that vampires cause all that suffering because the deaths are unusual, not typical vampire killings. Kazuma Asogi - Barok's apprentice - suddenly disappears, and as we later find out, he got turned into a vampire during an investigation, so we have to find a way to turn him back. After we have collected enough resources for Sholmes and Iris to create an anti potion, we take him on as a mini boss (he uses his katana as his main weapon and is as snide as ever, even more so now thanks to his dark side). We succeed in bringing him back to normal.

The big boss is made up of two characters: Lord Klint van Zieks and Genshin Asogi. Klint never died because he got turned by another vampire (Genshin) shortly after his supposed death in a "duel", which technically saved his life (as far as an undead can be considered alive). Genshin has been turned only a few hours ago before showing up at Klint's manor, so he has not corrupted yet and is still capable of thinking as a human. What they did that one night a decade ago was just a trick Genshin plotted without Klint's knowledge in order to disappear from the public eye and to lead Stronghart astray. It put and end to the Professor killings and both could remain at each other's side. However, neither of them could resist their dark urges, and so they have been running a vampire syndicate for a while. They now need to be defeated and/or turned back. After finding out the truth, the player can decide their strategy for the endgame: grind more and level up enough to be able to kill them so they can never harm anyone again, or do a pacifist run and collect more resources to turn them back so they can go back to their respective families (Kazuma; Lady B, Iris and Barok) and live happily ever after.

Hence, as it turns out, Barok's day job as a prosecutor and his night job as a fighter collide. The optional postgame content consists of various playable characters (Barok/Kazuma and - if we saved them - Klint and Genshin), all with differing skill sets. They take on Stronghart, who secretly has been Dracula all along. Stronghart turned Genshin hoping to be able to use him, but because Genshin acted quickly, he was able to plot the above-mentioned plan. He still turned into a vampire with a dark side, but at least he succeeded in distancing himself from Stronghart alongside his friend Klint. Had Stronghart been able to use Genshin and Klint as his vampire tools, the pain inflicted on London would have been much, much greater.
