Seal Your Ship with Protection by Using Marine Tape for Boats
Boating is the most exciting activity for adventurous people and for someone who’s half of the life is spent in marine vehicles due to their profession like merchant navy. Low maintenance and rusting can release an odor. To get rid of the awful smell from boat contact firms that stock propspeed kit. They provide service of the original propeller and running gear for release coating system and prop speed antifouling marine coating has been specially formulated to stop marine growth from adhering to metal surfaces below the waterline.
Propspeed is manufactured by the environment-friendly process so it does not contain toxic substances such as copper and tin that can be harmful to marine life. It is also long lasting than other solutions. Products available in the prop speed antifouling range include prop speed kit of 200 ml, 500 and 1litre, primer kit; prop strips 1 tire tub, propprep 1-litre bottle, propprep wipes, prop clean wipes and prop speed stirring wheels.
Hard antifouling dries to hard smooth finish but is actually full of very small pockets chock full of biocides. Over time these biocides leach out of the bottom paint killing off growth. Protect your marine vehicle by investing for marine tape for boats. They stock a wide selection of marine tape for shop or boat including duct tape, marine stripping tape, shipping tape and marine non-skid tape. Firms stock many solutions so that clients can choose from duct tape and more. Solutions are as follows:
Masking Tape is an all-purpose for varied applications.
PVC is a grey multi-purpose duct tape
Packaging tape as the name suggests is suitable for carpet underlay seam
Bundling cling film is a superb marine shrink wrap tape
These companies are also the supplier of safety marine tapes for ships including slip resistant marine non-skid tape in black.

PropOne vs. PropSpeed – Which Has the Best Propeller Antifouling Technology
Selecting the correct anti-fouling product for your propeller and running gear has become a different process. The EPA has developed strict regulations for anti-fouling paints and there are few other alternatives that provide both results and longevity. Today’s anti-fouling products can be divided into two categories. The first category is paint that contains biocides that leach through the paint to create a toxic environment that marine organisms will not grow on. Then there are the smooth surface coatings that create a surface, that when the boat is moving, the barnacles and organisms will not be able to attach themselves.
Why Preventing Marine Growth is So Difficult? The Reason behind Formulation of Propeller Antifouling Technology
The reason it is so difficult to achieve a surface that marine organisms will not grow on is a result of the harsh environment under the waterline.
Reasons Prevention of Marine Growth is Difficult?
Dealing with multiple metal surfaces submerged in salt water
Suspended solids in the water like dirt and salt that create friction and a sand blasting effect when the boat is running
Friction from the prop spinning which creates a pressure washer type effect on the prop and running gear
Galvanic corrosion can blow off coatings from the metal surfaces
Both conventional types of propeller antifouling do not perform or last as a result of this environment. Propeller antifouling paints and smooth surface coatings are soft so they are constantly getting worn down by friction or blown off by galvanic corrosion. These products are also subject to adhesion issues. Most require the metal surface to be sanded by heavy grit sand paper which removes a lot of material and reduces the life of the propeller. At the very least, both of these options also require the propellers to be completely sanded off and removed before a new application is applied which removes even more material. Most of the propeller antifouling paints contain biocides which contain more metals increasing galvanic corrosion.
Smooth surface propeller anti-fouling are made of wax or silicon which are very soft and every time a marine organism grows onto the surface and comes off it is taking some of the coating with it.
PropOne vs. PropSpeed: Which is the Best Propeller Antifouling Product – Know Here
It is widely accepted that a buildup of marine life on the surface of a boat’s propeller and drive shaft negatively impacts engine efficiency and performance. Even if the prop has a thin layer of growth on its surface area, fuel efficiency is reduced by a significant amount. To counter this problem, engineers have turned to developing super slick coatings. When the drive is engaged, and the prop begins to move, any organisms attempting to adhere to the prop simply slide right off. No chemicals are used to poison or kill the organisms in the environment.
How do PropOne and PropSpeed Compare? Which Propeller Antifouling Technology Gives You the Most Bangs for Your Buck?
PropSpeed is much newer to the market than PropOne propeller antifouling coatings, but has been in development for over ten years. Being new to the slick coating market, PropSpeed appears to be able to avoid slipping into the same ruts that their competitors have. The biggest obstacle for PropOne is the cost. Comparing the two products at price point, PropSpeed is about 30% less expensive and offers 25% more product. That’s 2 strikes for PropOne right off the bat. PropOne is available in the following sizes: 1000ml, 500ml, and 250ml. On the other hand PropSpeed offers a size larger than PropOne’s 1000ml and still manages a lower cost. Also PropSpeed offers a size smaller than PropOne’s 250ml for sailboat owners who don’t need the larger quantities of product.
In terms of performance, both slick propeller antifouling coatings are equally good. They do the job and do it well. It is too early to say which product will outlast the other in the minds of consumers. But for right now, PropSpeed is the recommended propeller antifouling technology as opposed to PropOne. The savings alone makes PropSpeed worth every penny.
PropSpeed is one of the foul release systems that provide the best solution to keeping growth of your props and running gear. Though PropSpeed in reality don’t falls under the propeller antifouling technology category, it keeps the growth off by creating a super slippery surface that the marine growth cannot stick to. PropSpeed recommends that their kits by applied by a professional PropSpeed applicator.
So, what you think? Which has the best propeller antifouling technique? At Get A Prop, we recommend you to choose PropSpeed over PropOne because it’s reliable, accurate and most importantly inexpensive to purchase.

NZ Millennium Cup 2017
Tawera, impeccably sailed, again dominated a lengthier 27nm course on day three of racing, taking line honours for a third consecutive day and bringing home the NZ Millennium Cup 2017.
Assured of generous sunshine, blue skies and the promise of good winds, the race committee selected a lengthier 27nm course that would see competitors round the extremity of the Nine Pin twice and flit past both Motuterakihi Island and Whale Rock.
Coming into the final day of racing, Pacific Division competitors, Antaeus and Steinlager 2, were tied on points. Rumours of an extensive tactical defence strategy to retain the Pacific Cup emerged from Steinlager 2’s camp after the skippers briefing. With an even tighter handicap than the day prior in place for the Mark Foy start, Tawera and Antaeus, again nailed faultless starts – an underlined statement of the race to come. The honour of best start in the series, reserved for the final day’s racing as confirmed by the race committee’s Dennis Corbett, was, however, Cavallo’s. Galloping over the start within a half second of the gunshot, it was clear to see the starting practice runs she had committed to over the week had paid dividends.
The New Zealand Millennium Cup 2017
Silvertip then Farfalla, gave chase – both harnessing the wind to drive out into the mouth of the Bay.
Racing on the day was marked by a thrilling series of combative boat-to-boat tacking duels spread out across the Bay.
Approaching the Nine Pin, a bout of jousting between Silvertip and Cavallo left spectators white-knuckled. Both on a starboard tack with Cavallo to weather, the VHF crackled to life as Silvertip’s skipper, Blair MacLeod, called out to Cavallo to give room in order to avoid the glittering grey hull running aground on the craggy rocks of the headlands. Giving a hair’s breadth of room, Cavallo tacked first to round the Nine Pin, pushing Silvertip to the outer lane as they passed the iconic landmark. As they stormed out to Red Head Bouy, Antaeus passed them returning to the Nine Pin after successfully rounding Red Head, holding a lead on Steinlager 2 that still reflected the approximate 20 minute starting handicap. Just as Silvertip surged in front of Cavallo, a sudden burst of colour punctuated the skyline as Cavallo’s red, white and blue kite broke into two. Another fiercely contested tacking match between Pumula and Janice of Wyoming took place and later Pumula was pulled in by Farfalla approaching Motuterakihi Buoy. But no kind wind in favour of the remaining fleet could foil Tawera in her pursuit of line honours and ultimately series win of the NZ Millennium Cup nor Antaeus in taking out line honours and series win of the Pacific Cup.
At the prizegiving held in the evening at the historic Duke of Marlborough, famous for entertaining rascals and reprobates since 1827, Antaeus’ part-owner, Charles St. Clair Brown, commented, “the wind gods were kind to us, and Steinlager 2 were especially gracious in letting us slip away”.
Janice of Wyoming took second place in the last race, securing the prestigious second place in the NZ Millennium Cup, with Farfalla third in the last race also securing third in the overall series.
The New Zealand Millennium Cup 2017
Platinum sponsor Orams Marine’s managing director, Craig Park, took the dais and thanked long-term competitors, Antaeus, Steinlager 2, Silvertip and Janice of Wyoming, while New Zealand’s greatest yachting ambassador, Peter Montgomery (MBE) took the opportunity to thank the visiting yachts for their contribution to another excellent edition of the NZ Millennium Cup, the third held in the beautiful Bay of Islands. To crown the proceedings, competitors toasted world-renowned designer Ron Holland, technical advisor aboard Holland-designed Tawera, in advance of his 70th birthday. As a focal point for both the local industry and for the global brands looking for more exposure in Asia Pacific, the NZ Millennium Cup has welcomed a number of sponsors on board, including platinum sponsor Orams Marine, and gold sponsors Smuggler Marine, Far North Holdings – Bay of Islands Marina, Doyle Sails New Zealand and Yachting Developments.
Silver sponsors include OnFire Design, Breed Media, COAST New Zealand, Events Clothing and Southern Spars/North Sails. Thanks also goes to Tourism NZ, Propspeed, Holton Marine, Robinson Interiors, McMullen & Wing, Power Equipment, Q-West and Lancer Industries. We also extend our thanks to suppliers, Rogue Society, East Imperial, and Mount Gay Rum, alongside our media partners Superyacht World and Ocean Media.
