“This is quite morose.”

Leon’s amused tone makes you roll your eyes, “You said you thought it was interesting in the car.”

He laughs and pokes your side making you side step away with another eye roll, softened by a half smile. 

“I wanted to see if the rumors of a vampire grave were true.”

Leon follows along behind you as you peer at each rundown, moss covered tombstone. You stop, drawing him up short before he bumps into you. 

“Oh wow, it is here,” you turn, a bit wide eyed to point out the grave in question to Leon, “see that tree? They say it grew from the stake settlers used on his body.”

Leon only smiles, eyes sparkling as you grab his hand to drag him closer. 

You let go of his hand to crouch down by the tombstone, softly tracing the word ‘trandofir’.

“It means rose in Romanian,” you state, standing back up, “and they say that rose bush grew from his nails.”

Leon looks around and sees the rose bush in question. 

“He died from a flu pandemic,” turning to Leon, you take his hand in your own, “but the settlers dug him up and supposedly found blood in his mouth so they staked him.”

Leon hums following along as you tug him over to the roses, “Kinda wild, huh?”

“I’ll say so,” he gives your hand a quick squeeze, “any other weird graves you want to look at?”

You grin at him but shake your head, “No, just wanted to see if this was true or not. Tis the season.”

Chuckling, Leon presses a quick kiss to your cheek, “Fair enough, sweetheart.”

A sharp wind gusts around you, tossing dead rose petals into the air and making you shiver. 

“Let’s get home,” he murmurs, kissing your temple, “drink something hot and watch Ernest Scared Stupid.”

You belt out a laugh, “You’re such a dork, dad.”

He shrugs easily, “It’s a classic. And besides, I like watching it you.” 

You smile, feeling butterflies in your chest, “Let’s get home then.”
