Diana closed her eyes, twisted the knob, pushed open the door, and stepped inside. When she opened her eyes again, it was as if someone had struck her in the chest.
The room was exactly how Diana had left it, exactly how it was when Eva was still alive. The bed not yet made, the closet divided between Diana's clothes and Eva's, the vanity still in disarray from the last time it had been used. If Diana didn't know any better, she would have thought that Eva was going to walk in behind her and say something snarky about someone she didn't like.
(Or: Diana grieves.)

Hyacinthleaves is a little fanfiction blog that I'm creating because I honestly want to give back to the fanfiction community. I've been reading them since I was pretty young and I think that non-canon creations take so much skill and patience. Since I've been reading them for so long, I think that its time to give back (even in a very small and simple way) and consistently try to spend time writing some myself. Obviously I've been writing them on and off but I just wanted them to have a space of their own again as well. We start again!
»»———- ———-««
Rules:
-Headcanons and imagines only for now. Maybe I'll write a fanfic or two or a matchup event every once in a while but not normally -Only Character x Reader or Character x Reader x Character. -No NSFW currently. And I just mean nothing too inappropriate. If you're not sure, just ask anyway. I'll let you know -Don't request more than three characters unless its like a harem situation. -Try to check the masterlist and see if I've done certain asks before, just to save me time. It's not that big of a deal though -Don't be rude because sometimes I do have the time to respond to it. It won't be pretty. -Don't ask for race specific stuff unless you're black. Why? Because I'm black. And I also don't have the most time in the world to research every culture that yall show up with, even though I'd love to. -I have the right to straight up refuse whatever ask I don't want to do. Usually it'll just happen if I can't think of anything for it or I'm too uncomfortable with it. Typically not that big of a deal. »»———- ———-««
Notes:
-Platonic asks are not my forte. Don't ask me why. I don't know. -I'm so busy so I might not get to every ask in a timely manner. But I also get kinda lazy so feel free to just be like "Did my ask get lost? it was about _" to get me moving because I do have the habit of avoiding things. -I'm silly guys, feel free to talk to me. I don't typically bite. -If you have any ideas of fandoms I should get into, shows I should watch, games I should get into etc. Let me know! »»———- ———-««

In one universe, Wolfgang and Ulysses end up being terrible roommates after just one night and switch roommates. In another universe, something else happens.
This is that universe.
Can be read as both platonic and romantic!

Project Eden's Garden Chapter 1 plothole
Regarding my review of Chapter 1, upon rewatch of the trial I must take back what I've said about the good murder mystery, because there's a major plothole.
How has Eva locked Diana when Eva was established to be in the kitchen by 8:35 while Diana entered the boiler room at 8:45?
Even the summing this up manga does not explain this movement on the part of the killer.
Maybe the case has been rewritten and previous version had Damon as the killer. There was no explanation for him and Kai both happening to conveniently oversleep to miss Wolfgang.

wrote for the first time in a million years as part of a little personal goal bingo thingy. so! i present to you: Alone Time!
Tumblr media
Atticus awoke with a huff.
Rather, they would have– if they had ever managed to actually fall asleep. Instead, they stared at the ceiling for what felt like hours. Thoughts about the horrible situation they found themself in swarmed like angry hornets in their mind. One moment they were boarding the train to the prestigious Eden’s Garden Academy, throwing passing glances at their new peers. The next moment, they were regaining consciousness in a strange windowless building and learning about the “killing game” all of them had been thrust into.
As if merely being trapped with chatty strangers wasn't bad enough.
They missed the animals. The thought burst forth suddenly in their mind, muffling all else. They missed studying nature right in the midst of it. They missed all the comfort that their Ultimate Zoologist always brought. Atticus let a sigh out into the silent room, rubbing their fingers against their temples.
This isn't working, they thought, sloppily tying back their hair and lifting their glasses from the nightstand. I need some air.
With almost practiced precision, they rolled out of bed and quietly padded over to the door. Bracing for the light of the hallway, they slowly cracked the door enough to slip out, gently returning it to the hinge to make as little sound as possible. A sigh of relief followed the minuscule creak, and they started toward the exit.
“Mx. Figueroa?”
Shit. They nearly jumped out of their skin at the familiar gentle voice coming from behind them. For a moment, they steeled their nerves before finally glancing over their shoulder.
“Wolfgang, hey!” Atticus’ voice was cautiously low, cracking only slightly– at which they cringed. Of course it had to be him, they thought, just my luck. They could only imagine how they looked, rumpled sleepwear and frizzy curls thrown haphazardly into a ponytail. “Did I wake you up? Oh my god, I am so sorry–”
He chuckled, a sound that made Atticus’ ears burn, “No apologies needed. To be honest, I haven't slept a wink tonight. I was actually planning to search for something that could alleviate that, if you can believe it.”
Wolfgang, on the other hand, made the whole “freshly crawled out of bed” thing look easy; hair clearly tousled while appearing almost purposeful, decidedly shitty academy pajamas that hung in a surprisingly flattering way a far cry from his typical tailored suit. It’s totally unfair, Atticus thought, trying their damnedest to keep up with this conversation without becoming distracted by his kind gaze.
“Ah,” they stammered, collecting themself once more, “Me too. I was… just about to go out to the courtyard. Get some… air, quote unquote,” This once again made him laugh, at which they unconsciously puffed their chest with pride. “Would you wanna… join me?” He smiled, taking careful and quiet steps to stand at their side. Atticus suddenly felt like any remaining coherent thoughts they had were turned to static.
“I’d be delighted to,” he gently patted their shoulder, almost whispering in their ear, “Though I must warn you… I make no promises of providing particularly riveting company. I do hope you will at least make it back to your dorm before I bore you to sleep.”
They burst out with a laugh, good-naturedly shoving him with one hand and slapping the other over their mouth in hopes of preserving the quiet. It made for a perfect excuse to shield the growing flush of their cheeks as they made their way to the exit door.
Atticus let out a breath they didn't realize they were holding when the doors to the ‘outside’ opened. They weren't convinced that the screen dome would display nighttime: a room of eternal daylight seemed perfectly on-brand for the rest of the hellish circumstances. But the courtyard was blanketed in darkness, the concave false clouds being replaced by an unnatural amount of stars. At the very top was a facsimile of the moon, completing the image of true outdoors.
“Y’know,” they piped up, still staring up at the ‘sky’, “I didn't exactly set my expectations high, but this is actually kinda beautiful. Almost like I’m really out stargazing.” They sat at the edge of the gazebo, crossing their hands in their lap. Wolfgang soon joined them, following their gaze up to the top of the dome.
“It is quite nice.” He glanced at them momentarily, nearly forgetting himself. Pulling his eyes away, he started again, “Ashamed as I am to say, I can’t even remember the last time I really stargazed.”
Atticus gasped, their faux-offended look almost being lost in the low light, “You haven't gone stargazing? What the hell!”
Wolfgang held up his hands in surrender as they both laughed. “I’ve committed a grave offense, I know! I suppose I just never had the time alongside my studies.” They placed their hands on their hips, jokingly tutting and shaking their head.
“Well, I guess I can forgive you this time,” they smirked, nudging him with an elbow, “But you better enjoy this to the fullest, dammit! We’re making up for lost time, so don't forget this!”
He laughed, gently pushing back with his shoulder, “Of course, I wouldn't dream of it.”
The courtyard was comfortably quiet for a while. Time felt like merely a suggestion as opposed to a rule. Wolfgang finally broke the silence.
“So, Mx. Figueroa,” he slowly raised his voice from a whisper as he met their gaze, “What led you to zoology?” Atticus quickly shifted their eyes away, unable to think while making eye contact with him.
“Oh, well,” they gently patted their damp palms against their pant legs, “It’s a little embarrassing to say, but I think I’ve always connected more with animals than humans. I’ve… never really understood people; we have so many unspoken arbitrary standards and rules. But when I started studying creature behavior, it’s like everything finally made sense! They act so logically, and yet they have the capacity for genuine emotion and even complex thought! They don't have to justify themselves, they just… are.” He watched in amazed silence as they became more passionate the longer they spoke. Atticus was so often a passive force, listening far more often than they spoke. He had never seen them so confident in themself. Suddenly, he became all too aware of the heat reaching his face.
Their face dropped in a split second, flushing. “Ah, I’m sorry,” their hands waved wildly, as if trying to clear the air of their words, “I talked for way too long, I don't know what happened–”
“No,” Wolfgang jumped, feeling more frazzled than he could ever remember, “Please, don't be! You have nothing to be sorry for, I like listening to you.”
He held both of their hands gently in his, only noticing after hastily grabbing them out of the air. Neither moved an inch for an infinite stretch of time until he clumsily released their wrists. The tension in the air suffocated any words that could've possibly been shared.
“We– I should probably–” Atticus stammered, “It’s… getting late. I think.” They stumbled up from the gazebo steps, with Wolfgang never too far behind.
They couldn't find the right words to say. They couldn't find any words. Any semblance of language drowned in the fresh memory of his soft hands clasped protectively around theirs. Their mouth gaped in their search for syllables. Somehow, finally, the answer was finally fished out.
“Um,” they looked everywhere except into the eyes locked squarely on their face, “Guh– Goodnight, Wolfgang!”
He cleared his throat, desperately attempting to regain his usual composure. With an awkward wave and a nod, he finally spoke.
“Goodnight, Atticus.”
Closing the courtyard door as quietly as possible, they sprinted back to their dorm. Nearly slamming the door shut, they leapt into bed, not even bothering to remove their glasses before shoving their face into the pillows to scream as quietly as they could manage.
He had never used their first name before.

I wanted to spread the word that @bisexualsforprompto is looking for betas for their fanfiction, 'You Reached the Summit, Are You Happy Now?' under 'Lynx_bisexual' on ao3! (Note: This position has already been filled, so nvm)
The fic is a Project Eden's Garden story, about Damon and Wolfgang, their 'fake' relationship, and a mystery. With Lawyer Wolfgang and Senator Damon! It's really good, and I'd recommend giving it a read

ʷⁱˢʰᵉˢ ᵒⁿ ᵈᵃⁿᵈᵉˡⁱᵒⁿˢ ;; ᵏᵃⁱᵐᵒⁿ ⁽ᵖ:ᵉᵍ⁾
Summary: Damon Maitsu wants to become a godparent no matter what. Kai Monteago should be his ticket to becoming one early, but he isn't. Fortunately, they manage to graduate from Fairy Academy and officially be godparents together. Things aren't great at first, but they adjust to the other as time goes on. It can even be said that they like being with the other, maybe even more than being with anyone else. After thousands of years helping thousands of children, Toshiko Kayura gets them as her godparents. She already knows what she wants to do: Get into Eden's Garden Academy and become a respected matchmaker. Getting godparents should make the process easier, but they end up bringing more trouble than expected, especially with Tozu and Eva Tsunaka in the picture. Toshiko ends up being a challenge for Damon and Kai, too, since they never had a godchild who made them struggle so much. Before. At the end of the day, their problems won't be solved by anyone else, meaning this group of three has no one to rely on but each other. Word Count: 4,106 A/N: Unlucky Charms has an unhealthy hold on me, so I making a longfic. It's not the same AU, but reading it gives you a general idea of what this will be about. Tumblr isn't a good place to post multi-chaptered works, so this is the prologue (Kai's POV), Chapter 1 (Damon's POV), and Chapter 2 (Toshiko's POV) all in one post. More details about the longfic at the end, so skip to the bottom notes or spend the time to actually read it here! And since you're still here, don't forget your daily clicks!

the pilot episode
Lately, Kai had been wondering if it was all worth it.
Each day, was the same as the last. Every time, it was the same results. He could put in all the effort he was allowed to put in, or he could put none at all. It didn't matter. There was no difference. If he went away now, nothing would change other than everyone else getting less work.
It made him wonder what he would do if he left, though. Would he just rot until the end of time? Would he try to take his own life? Those were the only options he could see if he quit. It was so pathetic what his life was turning into.
Really, though, there was no point in continuing. It was a dead end. There was nothing to come from it.
It was then when Kai saw him for the first time. He didn't know his name, but he didn't know a lot of people's names. His face, though... It looked familiar if he squinted, but he was sure he never met this person before. It was weird that this person approached him when it didn't look like he was being forced to. He was so calm and professional about it, too, like he was just here to get a job done. Upon noticing that, Kai was sure that this was some new guy who got hired to take care of him like he needed a babysitter. He was getting so sick of all these people. Most of them didn't even last that long.
Kai was going to tell him to go away and leave him alone. He even prepared a threat and everything, since these people were so easy to scare. It was good he didn't, though, since before he could say it, the "new guy" asked, "Do you want to be godparents together?"

season 0, episode 1
Fairy Academy required more physical exercises than Damon Maitsu thought was necessary. They were only training to take care of godchildren, and their magic would help them in the worst scenarios. The training at Fairy Academy disagreed with him, though, since push-ups and wand-ups were mandatory. Loud instructions and other Fairies struggling from the intensity were what he had been forced to get used to.
Sitting in Wolfgang Akire's office was the quietest place Damon had been in since coming to Fairy Academy. The only sound was the rustling of Wolfgang going through papers and a clock ticking with every second.
Damon kept his posture straight enough to look professional but relaxed enough to look like he wasn't phased by the uncomfortable silence. His eyes had been focused on Wolfgang sitting across the office table, but he was getting bored at looking at his pale skin and slicked-back hair. In an attempt to get rid of that, his eyes wandered to the fairy sitting next to him.
Unlike Wolfgang, who easily achieved the professional-yet-relaxed look Damon wanted, the fairy next to him kept his yellow eyes trained on the table. His black hair was falling over his face, and his shoulders were hunched like he was trying to curl into himself. He looked pathetic, but even though Damon knew he wasn't the only fairy who thought that at least once about Kai Monteago, he couldn't say that out loud now.
Damon's attention was brought back to Wolfgang when he put the papers back onto the desk. He sent him a smile. "I must say, Damon, you're a very hard worker. While your physical stamina can be improved, you would make a decent godparent despite being here for only a few hundred years. You could become a good one if you treated children a little better, though."
That wasn't what he was hoping to hear, but if he was going to hear it, he had to be polite for now. "Thank you, Mister Akire. I'm trying my best to be better every day."
"It's good to hear that. And please, just call me Wolfgang." His gaze went to Kai. The polite cheerfulness in his voice was gone. "I don't need to talk about how your training is going."
Kai didn't respond.
That tone from before returned to his voice. "From the looks of it, Kai, Damon could help you with your weaker areas. Since you have always been good with children, you can help Damon with his weaker areas as well. I'm surprised you've met someone who can help you as well as Damon can."
"Yeah. Real lucky..." Those were the first words Kai had said since entering Wolfgang's office.
Wolfgang drummed his wingers against his desk. "Despite how interested I am in this idea, I'm worried how it might go, though. I've never had anyone request to be a godparent with another fairy. Actually, I'm sure no one has ever asked that. I'm not surprised Kai is one of the two fairies asking, though.
"How about this: Since Kai knows everything there is about Fairy Academy's training by now, you two will train together until Damon has enough knowledge to graduate. Your final test will be modified to fit two godparents. I will oversee it myself. If you cannot complete the test in one go, or you prove to be incompatible during the rest of your training, your request to be godparents together will be denied. However, if you work well together during training and pass, you will both immediately graduate, and you'll be assigned a godchild within two weeks. Are we all in agreement?"
Damon was sure there was a better deal than that, but he didn't want to risk trying to negotiate with one of the headmasters at Fairy Academy, who was also the leader of the Fairy Council. At least to him, it was better to have a bad deal but keep Wolfgang happy than to have a good deal but make Wolfgang unhappy. "That works for me."
"And me," hurriedly added Kai.
Wolfgang smiled. "This will be exciting times. I'll be interested to see if you two can make history by being the first, and I'm sure Mister Wilhelm would agree. However, I'd like to talk to Damon in private."
Without hesitation, Kai stood and left the office, leaving Damon alone with Wolfgang. Damon forced his attention to stay away from the door and on Wolfgang.
With the door shut behind Kai, Wolfgang's calm face shifted into an expression that had a mix of worry and suspicion. "You understand what you're getting into if you become a godparent with Kai, right? I don't have to walk you through every consequence that could come from spending so much time with him?"
"If I didn't, we wouldn't be here right now," replied Damon.
"I just wanted to make sure. If Kai ends up becoming too much of a problem for you, please come to me as soon as you can. I'll make sure he won't become a problem for you anymore."
"That isn't necessary."
"For now, it isn't. I want to make sure you know your options, though." Wolfgang smiled politely. "If this agreement between you and Kai doesn't work out, remember that it isn't your fault."
Damon could hear the unspoken words saying it would be Kai's fault. Damon could destroy Earth, and Kai would be the one everyone would blame. Granted, Damon didn't have enough power to destroy Earth, but it was still good to know that.
Their conversation ended there, and Damon was excused to leave. Outside, he found Kai standing outside near the door. Their eyes met for a few seconds before Damon broke it by going in the opposite direction. He resisted a sigh when he realized Kai was following him.
"I have a question," Kai said as he began to fly next to him as if they were friends. "A lot of them, but the main one and probably the only one you'll answer... Do I know you?"
"I know you," Damon answered dryly without looking at him.
He rolled his eyes. "Everyone knows me. But I don't even know your name. I mean, I don't know a lot of people's names, but I think I know yours now. It's Damon, right? I heard Wolfgang say it."
"It is Damon."
"Damon...?"
"Damon Maitsu."
"So, Damon Maitsu, have I seen you before? Because if I did, I don't remember it."
"If you don't remember, then you haven't seen me before."
"But then why would you want to be a godparent with me? This is a huge responsibility, you know."
Despite how short it was with Wolfgang, he didn't want to this conversation again. He made sure his voice made it clear he didn't want to talk about it. "I know what I'm getting myself into."
Kai seemed to get it to an extent. "You can be as mysterious as you wanna be, but at least tell me why you want to be godparents with me."
Damon let himself sigh this time. There was no reason to hide it, but the reason was so obvious that it almost pained him to have to say it. "I was hoping I could reduce the time I need for training by being godparents with someone who obviously needs the help, which is you. Since that isn't happening, I can at least become more respectable if people know how much time and effort I'll be putting in to being godparents with you."
"Are..." His tone became accusatory. "You're using me to make yourself look better."
"There isn't any other reason for why someone would willingly spend time with you, let alone make history with you."
Kai was silent before he went off in the other direction. Damon was fine with that. Wolfgang would only be monitoring them during training, and they technically weren't training right now. Besides, it wouldn't do Kai any favours if he hid this from him. It would be too cruel of a fate to let someone think someone else could like their presence. He already risked Kai thinking that when he approached him out of, to be fair, nowhere and asked if he would like to be a godparent with him. There was no need for that anymore.
Tomorrow, Damon would have to come up with excuses upon excuses as to why he and Kai were going to be godparents together. He would also have to start tolerating Kai tomorrow. Wolfgang would be watching them, and Damon couldn't disappoint the person who could either make or break his career as a godparent.

season 6,401, episode 1, part a
"I changed my mind."
Those four words were what Toshiko Kayura despised the most. They were mostly rephrased depending on the person, but that was always the simplest way of them expressing their opinions. Toshiko might be 13, but she was turning 14 in November, and she had helped clients find their true love. She didn't help a lot of people, though, and she was always annoyed at how that number could be bigger if people trusted that she could help them despite how young she was.
Today, she heard those four words again. If that couldn't make today any worse, she heard she had a babysitter coming today. She was sure she was old enough to not need them, but as always, her complaints to her parents went ignored.
When she came to her house, she saw the car outside and felt relived that at least the babysitter wasn't here yet. Toshiko headed for her bedroom. She wanted nothing more than to sleep and forget about today, but she knew she couldn't. Sleep wasn't that merciful. She looked around the room for something to do when she spotted it.
A Magic 9 ball. It was a gift given to her by a costumer—the same one who just stood her up. The costumer thought Toshiko was an adult when giving her the gift, and it was the first time Toshiko was given something by a costumer. She thought it would mean something special was going to happen, but no, it was the same as most of her potential costumers.
Toshiko picked up the Magic 9 ball. It was ugly. The font used for the 9 was ugly, the old-looking yellow was ugly… She hated it. She hated looking at it. It needed to be out of her sight.
Her body reacted before her mind could. The Magic 9 ball went flying out of her hand when she threw it against the far wall. It cracked as it hit it and fell to the ground split perfectly in half. Toshiko couldn't begin to wonder how she was going to throw it away when mist came out of it. She squeezed her eyes shut and held her breath, using her fan to get as much of it away from her.
When she was sure the mist wasn't there anymore, she covered her mouth with her fan and slowly opened her eyes. Her bedroom looked the same at first, but then she noticed the two men.
"Hey, hey, don't be scared!" the one with the pink hair said when Toshiko screamed. "We're not here to hurt you."
Toshiko grabbed the first thing she could for a weapon, which was her pillow. "Who are you? What are you doing in my house?"
The pink-haired one held up his hands and backed away. "My name is Kai Monteago, and this"—he gestured to the blonde one—"is Damon Maitsu. We're your fairy godparents!"
"Fairy…godparents?" She scoffed at the neon lights spelling Fairy Godparents that seemingly appeared out of nowhere. "Do you take me for an idiot? Those aren't real!"
"We have floating crowns and wings," said Damon, gesturing to his and Kai's feet that were a bit above the ground. "We're real."
"How did you even get here?"
Kai winked. "You're one of the lucky kids chosen to have godparents! We're here to make you happy and grant you any wish you want!"
"So long as it follows some rules," added Damon. "You can't wish for anything that harms living creatures, that ruins the fundamental laws of nature, that gets in the way of love…"
"Why would you be godparents of a matchmaker if I can't wish for my clients to be in love?" If she could do that, then she might be able to be seen as responsible despite her young age.
"I never said you can't wish for love. What that rule means is that, for example, if you want someone to stop being friends with another person but that person has a crush on that other person, you can't wish for them to stop being friends."
"What happens if a match turns out to be completely wrong, though? What if one person needs to get out of the relationship, but the other person has some sort of love for them? Does that mean I cannot wish them out of the relationship, and everything that happens to them is all my fault?"
Damon shrugged. "Those are the rules. If something like that ever happens, we can help you find a loophole to save them."
"Well, this is all beside the point." She pointed towards her bedroom door. "Get out of my house before I call the police!"
"If you tell anyone we're here, we'll disappear forever!" warned Kai.
"That's what I want."
"No, you don't! We're here to grant wishes! Here, make a wish. We'll prove we're genuine!"
"I'm not falling for any scams."
Kai frowned and looked over to Damon. Damon muttered something about kids becoming more untrusting with every decade before saying, "Let's make a deal. We'll stay here for the rest of the day. After the day is over, you can choose if you want us to stay or leave. If you choose for us to stay, we'll obviously stay, and if you choose for us to leave, you'll never hear from us again."
Kai's frown deepened. "But if she makes us leave… What are we going to tell Wolfgang?"
"I'll handle it." To Toshiko, he asked, "Do we have a deal?"
Toshiko looked between them. These two men were probably going to be annoying if she didn't agree to it. This deal was probably the best she was going to have. She held out her hand towards Damon. "Fine. We have a deal."
Damon shook her hand less firmly than she thought he would. She didn't have long to wonder about it before Kai jumped in. "So, what are you doing today, Toshiko?"
"I have a babysitter coming in," she answered. "I haven't met him before. I heard his name is Tozu, though."
"Oh, I know a Tozu, but I never actually met him. It's a fancy name," said Kai, "but aren't you too old for babysitters?"
"I am, but my parents think I'm still childish and need them. Fortunately, I will be gone from babysitters soon."
"Why's that?"
"That is a secret I'm not sharing with strangers."
"But we told you our names!"
"That doesn't mean I know you. It's weird for you to know my name before I know yours, anyway. What even are godparents? Just people who grant wishes?"
"Fairies who grant wishes in our case," answered Damon. "Not everyone can do it. As we said before, our job is to grant your wishes and give you a happier life."
Toshiko was going to brush him off before the last part of the sentence kicked in. "You can make my life happier?"
"We grant wishes for a reason. They usually make people's lives happier."
"Alright then." She expanded her fan, hiding her smile. "If you truly are my godparents and can grant any wish I want, I have a wish for you. How do I make those wishes?"
Kai answered before Damon could, but it didn't look like Damon had any intention to answer. "It's easy! All you have to do is start your sentence with, 'I wish,' and finish it with whatever your wish actually is!"
"It does sound simple." She cleared her throat as she stood up straighter. "I wish to be accepted to Eden's Garden Academy."
Kai held up a wand, but his hand was pushed down by Damon who said, "We can't grant that wish."
"You said you would grant any of my wishes," she pointed out.
"I said we could grant you any wish that follows the rules in Da Rules."
"'Da Rules'? Did a child name that?"
"You're a child," Kai said while Damon nodded.
"I am a mature child," argued Toshiko. "I know all about adult matters and can handle them perfectly. My studies are perfect—"
"What is the approximate age of the universe, according to current scientific estimates?" asked Damon.
"My studies are almost perfect," she corrected, "but I can handle more. I would also consider myself to be the best matchmaker in the world, and any of my clients who gave me a chance can tell you that my work ethic is top-tier. I will be able to transfer that work ethic to my studies. I should be considered a good student to be let into Eden's Garden Academy, so this wish should be granted."
"How does any of this relates to that Eden-Garden thing?" asked Kai.
"Eden's Garden Academy is the most prestigious university in the United States of America, perhaps even the whole world."
"Aren't you 13?"
"I'm turning 14 in November."
"That's still pretty young. When I was 14… I was still a baby, actually. What's 14 in fairy years again?"
"It doesn't matter." Damon shot Toshiko a look. "You're still too young in human years to be attending a university. It's June, which means you just graduated from middle school. They're not going to accept you unless you're very talented."
"I still made that wish, so you should grant it."
"Even if we wanted to, we can't. Da Rules say you can't wish to succeed in something like a test and, in this case, being accepted into a university."
Kai looked more disappointed than Toshiko felt. "Can't we just make her the perfect choice with all these special talents?" he asked.
"They'll go away by the time she's accepted, which will do her no good. Speaking of which, how do you get into Eden's Garden Academy?"
"Through exceptional talent…" she reluctantly answered.
"By being the best of the best?" asked Damon.
"Basically. What they're looking for changes every year. Last year, there was someone who was perfect at robotics, and everyone was sure that he was going to get in. Eden's Garden wasn't searching for someone like that, however, so he didn't get any letter at all."
"Wait, so talent's all you need?" Kai grinned. "Da Rules say 'competitions' only for stuff like races, right? Being the best at a talent isn't the kind of competition Da Rules say no to! And it isn't interfering with love if we're just making her the best at being a matchmaker! That's not against any rules, right?"
Damon hesitated. "I guess that's a loophole…"
"Great! We can't wish anything for you that you didn't wish for yourself," Kai informed her, "so go ahead and make your wish!"
"Alright! I wish—"
Toshiko stopped talking when she heard her mother call her to come downstairs. She glanced at the fairies, but they disappeared. There was no time to worry about now, though, and she exited her bedroom. She crossed the second floor to get to the balcony. There, she didn't need to go down the stairs to the first floor to see her parents talking with a man with a goat head that looked like it was made of stone.
Before she could make her presence known, her parents' conversation with the man ended, and they left the house. Toshiko took slow steps down the stairs, her gaze focused on the man.
His mask had no mouth, unless that curved black line she thought was a nose was actually a mouth, but there was a hole for one of his red eyes, if it wasn't the only eye he had. At first, it was looking over the living room. Then, it trained onto her and had an emotion she couldn't place as her feet stepped onto the first floor. He nodded towards her. "Good evening, Miss Toshiko! My name is Tozu. I'll be your babysitter for today."
"Hello, Tozu," she said as politely as she could.
"You have a nice house," he complimented. "May I take a look around?"
"You can, but please don't go into my bedroom. It's the only door on the right when you go up the stairs. The other two doors on the left are my parents' bedroom and the bathroom. My parents most likely wouldn't like you going into their bedroom either, so please only go into the bathroom if you need to."
"Understood! I'll come get you later." Tozu headed towards the kitchen.
Toshiko went back upstairs. Kai and Damon had appeared in her bedroom again. "Where did you go before?"
"We were some toys," Kai answered like he was answering what the weather would be later. "How was meeting Tozu?"
She could ask them more about transforming into toys some other time. "He was fine. He hasn't done anything to make me like nor dislike him. The worst thing about him so far is the goat head."
Kai's smile fell. "Goat head?"
"I thought it was weird too, but I suppose it's just a preference or part of some costume I don't know about. It looked like a mask, but it's a very bad one in my opinion. It looks like it was made from rocks, and like rocks, there are cracks everywhere. One of his horns is broken, and there's a hole for one of his eyes." She shook her head. "If that isn't a costume and is just what he wears every day, I suppose I'll have to get used to it."
She was expecting one of them to tell her it wasn't nice to say that about other people, but she noticed the look the fairies shared. When they did talk, it was Damon who said, "Let's do something. What do you like to do, Toshiko, or what do you want to do?"
"Well, I'd like to know how you can transform into toys," she slowly said.
"It's because of Fagiggly Glands. Do you want the long answer or the short answer?"
"The long one." Toshiko was going to be part of Eden's Garden Academy one day, after all. She could handle hearing long explanations of topics she vaguely found interesting. Plus, listening could help her learn more about these supposed fairies.

Going on the assumption you didn't skip to the end, did you like what you read? The other parts won't be posted here on Tumblr because multi-chaptered works can get wonky, but if you really want me to post here, just ask! You'll have to keep asking though, since new updates will be going onto here on AO3 or here on Wattpad. They won't be immediately coming here unless asked. Also, note there will be slight spoilers to the main Danganronpa games and P:EG, but they'll only be brief references. Doesn't affect anything, but in so you're aware. Thanks for reading, and have a great day!

I personally don't like Project Eden's Garden, and I feel like it's trying far too hard to not be Dangan Ronpa to the point that it seems frankly embarassed about having any association with it from its writing and its consistent attempts to try and subvert DR writing, from the characters to even the execution we've seen (that IMO, lacks the kind of "style" canon executions have in an attempt to be far more brutal and drawn out without anything actually interesting to it in an aesthetic sense. It feels gory for the sake of being gory, even moreso than another execution I'd criticize like V3-2) and like it's trying too hard to subvert the series it's inspired by to the point it genuinely doesn't feel all that fun to engage with.
Things like the idea of a character presenting themselves as an "Ultimate Liar" just feel, for lack of a better word, fanfiction-y. A lot of the actual meat of the project feels amateurish to me, likely a result of the project changing hands due to the fallout between the old director and the original writers parting ways due to abuse 3 years ago or so, like old plot points were left behind and people tried to make them work rather than scraping things that I personally think go against his attempts to make its characters more grounded or realistic.
I don't enjoy any of the characters as they are and feel no attachment towards them or their designs, and I think the decision to replace the mascot with a guy in a mask was a poor one in a somewhat misguided attempt to make the game feel more, I dunno, mature? But to me it just comes off as another attempt to distance itself from DR, which the game fails at anyway because the twist of "characters who seem important both die chapter one" is very much a DR-esque move, for example.
There's a lot I could get into, and these are just mismanaged thoughts, but I feel like the project lacks style and any affection for the original series, and also comes off as exceedingly pretentious at times. (I personally hate the orchestral soundtrack, and I feel like something like "here's a real life orchestral composition of our theme" feels a lot like showing off at that point) I also just don't see the project being sustainable, especially with the prediction of it taking another two years for the second chapter.
All in all, though, I just can't enjoy it personally because it comes off as a very generic Fangan dressed up with high production value that people aren't willing to criticize both for fear of being attacked by an honestly rabid fanbase, and because it's definitely the big kid on the block and it can be hard to criticize a fan project being done for free. I just find it to be, well, not that good, and unworthy of the massive amounts of praise it's been receiving, but I'm biased to finding it kind of irritating due to my own personal tastes and the large amounts of praise its been receiving I personally disagree with.
But beyond that, it just feels like it doesn't want to be Dangan Ronpa, and maybe it shouldn't be, and its attempts to distance itself from it while still being clearly derivative of it (SHSL talents, the artstyle, the format) come off as more irritating to me than anything. I just don't think it's that good or the second coming of Dangan Christ or whatever, and it falls into the same trappings I'd criticize pretty much every other Fangan, and even the official series for, but it sticks out even more due to how desperate it is to be not Dangan Ronpa, or more than just Dangan Ronpa. This one just has more budget.

Lucilith week: Garden (?)
Soooooooo....
After LITERALLY years of not writing fanfiction; I have written fanfaction. So bear with me if I'm a little rusty
Something I want to day first: I was reading up on Lilith and read somthing about her walking to the edge of the world until she reached the seas, and then got given her curse by the angels. And I NEVER see this in any fanart or fanfiction. Graden romance is great enough, but BEACH romance? I thought I'd give it a go. TIA for making it this far.
Lucifer could feel the ground changing beneath his feet. He had become famillier with how the landscape transitioned this far out in Eden, on it's outskirts. The soft green grass wasn't too far behind him but for now he could feel the snaps and rustles of dried up twigs and scattered palm leaves as he persevered forwards. There was sand visible now, and it muffled his steps as he was at last able to hear the waves. He knew he could always just fly straight to the beach, and a teleportation ring would be even quicker, but he learnt pretty quickly that unsettled her.
And there she was, sat on the blanket he had gifted her, with her hair drifting behind her as gentle and soft as the waves she was watching. The sand had taken on a peachy hue in the evening sun and the air was warm and fresh with the scent of flowers and salt. The birds above sung their sweet evensong.
He waited a moment and stepped forward, his toes barely sinking in the sand but it tickled him all the same. He was unsure if she had heard him apporaching. "Uh, hi Lilith. How's it going?"
She didn't turn around, but she let out a deep sigh, visibly relaxing. He hadn't noticed how tense she was previously. "Lucifer."
"I came when I could, the meeting went on longer than I thought it would..." He waited for a response, twiddling the curl on his cheek. "And then, you know, I still had to present my new project proposals. Animals won't make themselves! Well, they will do but they need to be created first. Then they can start repro-"
He cut himself off, biting his tongue in an effort to halt his shy rambles. It was a... tetchy subject.
Lilith didn't seem to respond though, at least not to him. Had he been able to see her face he would have seen her eye twitch. But only breifly. She turned to him at last.
"So. Did they do it?"
Lucifer considered playing dumb but immediately decided against it. She always had a way of getting him to be blunt. No audience here, she'd remind him. Not a soul other than her.
His shoulders drooped, and he looked down in disappointment. "Yeah. They're waking her up tomorrow."
Lilith nodded and looked out to the sea once again. She scooted to the side, presenting him space to sit beside her. He wouldn't have minded the sand since he had his robe to protect him but she still refused any clothing he offered. It was cold here at night. In the depths of the garden she never once worried about getting cold but under the open sky on the fringes of her old home... well, he had to wait until she had fallen asleep shivering before he was able to summon something to cover her. During the day, she'd drape it over some branches to protect her from the blindingly bright sun, another issue she never delt with before. It would wave in the breeze like a white flag, which was appropriate since it was his first peace offering to her. She wasn't a fan of angels right now.
"Does she have a name yet?"
"Oh, we're not really supposed to share it until the announcement tomorrow," he shrugged. "But seeing as that was aimed at the rest of heaven, I don't mind telling you. It's Eve."
"Eve."
"Yeah."
"Adam and Eve." She snorted. "Has a nice ring to it, at least." She shrugged and picked up a coconut from beside her, along with a rock. Bracing the fruit between her feet, she struck it hard with the pointed side. She grunted as she did this again, and again, and again.
Lucifer gently grabbed her wrists, stilling her blows. He leant forward to see her face again, stoic and unreadable.
"It's not too late, Lili-"
She snapped her head up, her eyes pearcing his. "I'm not going back."
"But-!"
She pulled away and gave up with the damned coconut. Standing, she gestured to the wall of trees looming behind them. "As long as he thinks he can talk down to me, like I'm one of those silly animals he names, I'm not going near him. Telling me where to go and what to do. Acting as though he's in charge when we were told explicitly that we were both in charge of paving the way for humanity. Whatever that means," She huffed.
"It means," said Lucifer standing again with his palms open to the sky, "that God has bestowed upon you the honour of sharing his beautiful world with those who follow in your path-"
"Don't, Lucifer. Just don't."
He stopped. Her steely gaze cut right through him and he felt like he was ashamed at the script he had just rattled off.
She finally looked away, handing gripping her arms as though the memories made her chilly. "I've had so many angels preach those sorts of things to me. The rules of the garden, the importance of the male, the duty of the female." She looked up and shook her head in exasperation. "The forbidden fruit, the importance of faith, the tasks for us to prepare for more of us. Everyday since we woke up here, I've had one of you come down and tell us what to do. Even as I walked away, someone was following me, telling me to go back, warning me that the garden would end and I would suffer without it. I knew though, that they didn't care about me. Not really. They were more worried that I was messing up 'His great plan' or something. I was just annoying them because they couldn't herd me like they wanted."
Lucifer frowned. "Come on, don't be like that, Lilith. We do care."
"Oh really?" She said, dropping her voice. "Then tell me why, instead of sorries or promises of compromise, I got cursed instead? I had been walking for days. I was tired and hungry and scared. When I got here-" she paused as she trod backwards to the shoreline. Her eyes softened when the cool foam brushed against her ankles. "When I finally went as far I could possibly go... they berated me. Warned me. Cursed me to live out my days alone. I'll always burn under His sun, and be hungry without His harvest. For any children I may have to be born dead as though that is a kinder fate than to have me love them. So no, Lucifer. They don't care. And I don't care either. So why would I ever want to go back?"
The angel was stunned. He felt as though he had been punched in the gut and his breath stolen from him. Her words cut through him like a holy blade and he hid his wings in shame. For his kind to act so cruelly to her was something he didn't want to believe in. And yet as her contempt radiated from her, so did her loneliness.
And he could relate to that.
For how many eons was he scoffed at by those of his kind? Shifted from one project to another again and again because his ways didn't match their ways. He was the first born and yet he was never granted the title of Elder. He was first to admit they were stuffy, but cruel? Well. Perhaps. And if he hadn't have stuck to his instinct when Lilith was written off as a lost cause, he would have been just as cruel in her eyes. Looking at her now, with her eyes brimming with hot, angry tears, he wouldn't have blamed her. Because as much as he had gained some trust from her, he realised it wasn't enough.
She didn't know that on that day, weeks ago now, that an emergency meeting had been summoned. Even Lucifer, who had been reassigned to animal design because they though it was be simple enough for him, was there. And she was right in that she was just "written off". They spoke at great length how the birth of humanity plan must still go ahead, and that God had spoken already of a new wife. Naturally Lucifer interjected with worry for the female, for without the Garden she could perish from the elements, or starve, or any number of other dangers. "Do not interfere with her path, Morningstar. Stick to Gods plan as she sticks to hers. Do not worry. We carry on as normal with the Eden project," they echoed. And yet, he did worry. He worried enough to pull up a seeing orb to watch her as she struggled with less food, and cold nights. He worried enough to fly down there himself to pull together fruits and bowls of fresh water while she slept, leaving his gift of a blanket draped atop her as she shivered. He did this every night until she called out to him. I know you're there. Who are you? Why are you doing this?
In the weeks since, they slowly became closer but he realised in this moment that she wasn't sure if he saw her as her own person, and not just "the failed wife".
And what he saw before him now was a powerful woman, drenched in the sunset rays and positively glowing with the determination that she will not be tossed aside. She had strength where others saw weakness, and yet she persevered to the point she risked death. Humans are already so much more than we ever anticipated, though Lucifer. And he was proud to be witnessing it.
But that's not what she needed right now, he realised. He knew isolation when he saw it.
Lilith was hurridly wiping away the tears that betrayed her claims of not caring. She wasn't expecting him to understand, which was why it was all the more shocking when he grabbed one of her hands. She hadn't noticed him walk to stand beside her, the hem of his robe turning translucent in the tide. Looking down, she was stunned to see his own golden eyes glistening with tears too, reminding her of sweet, flowing honey.
"I'm sorry, Lilith. I didn't know about that."
"You didn't? Don't you all work together?"
"Well yeah but..." he trailed off. He shugged and mumbled something about not always being on the same page as them. "I'm not even supposed to be here right now."
"Oh?" She was genuinely suprised, but she believed him. As far as she's seen, an angel never told lies. "Then why are you here?"
Lucifer fiddled with his fingers, eyes fixed on his embroidered sleeves to hide his embarrassment. "Well, to see you of course. And make sure you eat today. I can get you any food you like! Unless you want coconuts."
"But why?"
"Uh, cuz there's a load of them here already?"
"No." Lilith shook here head. "I meant why would you risk coming to see me at all?"
Oh, he realised. "Well, I thought you could use... a friend. I mean, even if it's just me dropping by for a bit each day. No one deserves to be alone. And despite what you think that they think about you, I think you're actually really nice."
Lilith took a moment to unravel that last sentance, but at last she got it. She finally smiled. It was like a breath of fresh air. "Thank you. It means alot."
"And what ever you think of angels, well... I've been told I'm a bit different to my brothers."
"I've noticed," she chuckled.
Splashing his feet in relief at her laugh, Lucifer looked back to the treeline. "Sooo, you hungry?"
Lilith looked out to the sunset. The sky was drifting into a brilliant purple that, if she had known of mirrors, would have noticed matched her eyes. There was something about sunsets out here that she loved, now that the trees weren't blocking the horizon. It was somthing she eagerly waited for each day. Much like she waited for the visit from the funny little angel with the yellow cheeks. What did he call it? Friend? Yes, that sounds wonderful. Her friend.
She squeezed his hand in thanks. He was too distracted talking about somthing called pancakes to notice.
