This sure ain't Hometown.

In fact, it's the complete opposite of Hometown: towering buildings with glaring signs. The Mayor'd never approve of these kinds of structures! Its beaming eyesore colors are a far cry, even compared to his family pulling all the stops with their Christmas light displays! Targeted ads that seem intimately aware of Rudy's internet search history. Cheery salesmen hawking matching shoes for himself and his "Mrs. and Mr. back home" (nice try -- neither of them don't even wear shoes!)

The man's lost. All he wants to do is find Noelle and get out of this oversized motherboard of a city with her! She's gotta be here somewhere... right?

Between the circuit trace roads and information superhighways is a large dumpster. Maybe there's something in it that could be useful for his journey...? If the old man learned anything from playing RPGs as a kid, there’s gotta be something worthwhile such an unlikely place.

Rudy straightens out his gloves and throws the front fringes of his red wintry mantle behind his shoulders before lifting the lid ajar...

... only to find a ghostly-white face with yellow and pink sunglasses perched on its beak, and a set of crazy-sharp teeth!

Holy holly hell! In shock, Rudy releases the lid, seemingly dropping it on the creature’s face. It’s not like he expected lights and tinsel in the bin or anything.

Just not... that. Whatever that creature is.

Shoot. Crap. Shit! The last thing Rudy needs is for the fanged creature to bust out and decide venison would make a mighty fine meal.

Fumbling through his scant number of items, he finds a worthy gift in exchange that (hopefully) is more appealing than his own ass: a candy cane the size of the walking stick he used before stepping into the Librarby computer lab... ...

Carefully this time, he creaks the dumpster ajar.

"HereYaGoMerryChristmas!" In one swift move, he jams the candy cane between the creature's teeth like it's a dog bone, then shuts the lid one last time.

PHEW! That oughta spare 'im.

💍 - Does Rudy wear any type of jewelry?

Back in college, Rudy once pierced his antlers to put gages in it. He even considered getting a septum piercing! The deal-breaker was that he didn't want to “break the shine” of his nose, which he had finally learned to appreciate (Noelle’s not the only one in the family who had weird ideas about random stuff).

Now a settled-down old guy, wearing his wedding ring is a given. He has a set of cuff links and a necktie pin gifted to him by his father-in-law used for formal occasions, such as for his wife's city council meetings. The classy pin doesn't fit his kitschy ties and he’s not that particularly fond of the over-expensive set. However, Carol likes him wearing them, so he'll do it for her.

📬 - A mysterious letter has just been found in Rudy's mailbox.  How does he react?  Who would it be from?

Speaking of jewelry, the mysterious letter would be attached to an A4-sized flier of necklaces for sale. It'd say:

CAN'T [functioning] A COMPUTER BUT WANT TO [friend request accept] THESE [obvious scams]?

[Run] THROUGH THIS FLIER TO FIND THE [fattest], SHINIEST [chain] TO [trap] YOUR VERY OWN [sugar daddy] AND [sugar mommy]. CHOOSE BETWEEN [yellow], [sliver], or [floss]. MIX AND MATCH PENDANTS  FOR [adverse affects]. YOUR [hochi mama]S ARE GUARANTEED TO SAY "[shove it]" AFTER [financing] IT TO THEM!

ACT NOW [ or   die. ] BEFORE SUPPLIES RUN OUT!

Rudy would be like, "Hey. How ancient do they think I am?? I know how to use a computer!" and wonder if he's suffering a stroke or something. XD

"Nice job making smelly grease sound useful. Betcha can sell bacon to a pig next!"

The so-called "joke" had something to do with "Krispy Kreme" and "frozen chicken," but it made no sense. Worse yet, he was doing that... glitchy... talk... thing he does where it sounds like he's censoring himself.

"Buddy. Krispy Kreme donuts and frozen chicken taste awful together."

Or, was their incompatibility the joke...?

[ b1gsh0taut0s ]: A strange pair of glasses has been left in Rudy's room. One pink lense, one yellow. How'd they get here? Who knows! But they're here now. ...Hey, wait. Did they just... hop? [ Inspect? ]

The pair of glasses are sitting at the foot of his bed.

That movement Rudy just witnessed was because he tugged at the bed sheet to get them closer to him. It's the only explanation that makes any sense.

He reaches out to grab the eyeglasses. He folds and unfolds them to check the hinges. He wiggles the nosepads between his fingers. He angles the glasses to peer through the lenses...
