After the game baby - part 1

This is Part 1, here is Part 2.

Summary: Lucy Bronze and Ona batlle are in love. They are having a great time but then Lucy doesnt think Ona is competetive enough and thinks of a way to fix that.

(Warning: first thing i wrote ever, was inspired by the other people that write these fics, note: english is not my first language. Feel free to correct/feedback me!)

After the game baby - part 1/4 (18+, smut)

It was matchday -2.

After training they had another meeting off analysing. Jonatan was a bit more serious than usually. Lucy and Ona chose to not sit next too eachother, wanting to focus on the information that was coming.

Jonatan said that theyd had seen a significant difference between morning games and the usual night time games. This next game would be played at 10am, "so," said Jona in spanish, "i need you all, to just go to bed early today and tomorrow, we can take them easeally, but we want a lot off goals, the goal is atleast 10 goals." "So we cant have sleepy heads on the field"

Everyone in the boarding room laughed, the staff because it was usual for them, always having to start early to put everything up for the players, before theyd arrive for training. The players more so laughed at eachother, at Lucy and a few other players who were known for not being morning persons at all.

The meeting was ended and the players went further with their individual sceduals. Mapi and a few otherz went to the weight room, "u coming too Bronzey?" Mapi aked.

"Nah sorry, i have to meet up with physio, probably will go after that for a bit" anwsered Lucy

"Ofcourse you will" laughed Patri who came from behind and pushed Mapi in the direction off the gym "we'll be long gone then, we dont live in there" "unlike some" Mapi laughed with her.

Lucy shook her head , then felt a shoulder against her own "hey" said Ona.

"Hi baby"

"I have physio too, theyre gonna massage my neck, i swear all these headers made my neck 55years older"

"Aw, i know Ona" said Lucy whilst grabbing Ona's neck and kneeding it with her fingers.

Ona relaxed into the touch and whimpered.

Lucy smirked, Ona shouldve known the images running trough her mind right now.

Walking to the physios office on the other side of the facility, Lucy had recollected herself again. They ended the conversation they were having, needing to go to different physios. "Okay ill see you at home again then" said Ona, "then ill take the dogs out, cause ill be home earlier" Lucy nodded and went in to give Ona a quick kiss. They broke their kiss and Ona said "dont stay out in that gym too long Luce, the dogs and I dont want to wait 3,5 hours again!" The last bit came out half jokingly but Lucy knew it was true, she just lost track of time when she was exercizing. Lucy went in for one more kiss and said "i'll wont make it too late, you heard Jonas, we have to get to bed early" Ona pushed Lucy away knowing Lucy wasnt gonna stop with her stupid flirty jokes if she laughed to much about them and went to her physio.

Matchday -1

They had trained today at the same time the match would be tomorrow. Lucy had been actually pretty allright, Ona and her were kind off tired last night, so after they'd eaten and watched a movie, Ona had gotten into bed. Whilest Lucy went on one more quick stroll with the dogs. The supposed quick walk had became a walk of 65 minutes eventually so when she came back she just brushed her teeth and quietly stepped in to bed with an allready sleeping Ona.

Now it was noon, the team ate togheter after their morning training. After the late lunch, the team were allowed to go home for their siesta time, only a few players that needed some injury therapy stayed at the training ground.

Lucy and Ona drove home, or at least to Lucys appartement, but they were basicly living together. Coco and Narla loved being home alone togheter, as Lucy could see them cuddled up togheter true her doggy cam on her phone. And her appartement was a little bigger and closer to the training ground aswell.

Ona put her hand on Lucy's thigh, Lucy smiled and put hers on Ona's thigh. "I love you" ona smiled " i love you too".

They pulled in to the parking garage.

SEASONAL SENDOFFS - WINTER I

To Sae,

Happy New Year! I hope the first part of your season with Re Al has gone well. I was watching your last game before the winter break, you're playing really well in the midfield, considering you've always been a striker. It’s super cool that they upload all of the academy games on their website, so I don't have to spend all my savings trying to get a flight to Spain!!

Rin was upset this Christmas, he really wished you were at home, but maybe next year! Did you get any gifts? Did you and some of your teammates do secret Santa? I did it with our friends back here and I got a Re Al jersey with your name and number on the back. It's super cool and I put a picture of it in this envelope.

School is going okay, I’ve started my studies for entrance exams, but according to my teachers I could get into any school so hopefully they go well! Are you studying over in Spain? If so, are there any differences between schooling there versus in Japan? Are you learning Spanish? Is it an easy language or are you finding it hard?

Relating to school, the end of Junior High School dance is coming up in February. I’m going with one of the guys in class 3-C, he seems nice and he and his friends have started sitting with a few of us girls at lunch. He’s really good at football too, but never as good as you, he only plays at provincial level. But anyway, I thought it’d be fun to go, even though it feels a little weird going to something like this without you with a guy. I’ll definitely send you pictures so you can judge my outfit. Or maybe, if you’re feeling brave, you can send me a pic in some non soccer clothes for once!

Everyone back home is really proud of you Sae, especially the school football coach. It’s funny, at the guys’ training he’s always telling the forwards to “play like Sae,” which honestly puts them under pressure because not everyone has that talent. But someone who does is Rin, he’s a first year but is starting as one of two strikers for the team. He really does wish he was just like you, and he still tells me of his dreams to win the World Cup for Japan with you.

By the way, have you found any cool places to hang out in Spain? Tried any new foods? I know you’re usually super focused on training, but I hope you’re taking some time to enjoy everything there too. I read in one of the magazines I picked up that Spanish food is amazing, like churros and paella! If you’ve tried any, let me know if they live up to the hype.

Well, I better wrap this up since I still need to finish some homework before tomorrow, this was included! Apparently to raise English standards in the country every student needs to write four letters, in English, every year. So start expecting to receive these every once in a while.

But I wanted to say keep going, Sae. Everyone here misses you, and we’re all rooting for you! Take care of yourself, and I hope we can catch up in person soon. Who knows? Maybe I’ll save enough for that ticket to Spain by the end of the year!

So yeah Jude graduated from USC at the age of 23 and he was recruited for olympic court when he was 25. He considers the Trojan's his family and still keeps in touch with all the upper classmen who he used to play with. He's very much taken the Trojan attitude into his professional career. He's known as a team player on the court and also a huge activist off the court. He's now involved in presenting the Day Spirit Award every year and he's incredibly proud to have been apart of the team consistently winning it. While Ilya falls into the Just Some Guy category, Jude really takes it up like 10 levels into Golden Child territory. He's the favored one for press duty and is most involved with his teams social media. He's usually the one to sit down for the little games or the ask me anything's or the interviews everyone else deems pointless.

Jude was diagnosed with depression when he was 19 after he came to Rhemann confessing that he had been self harming for a few months after the workload with his class got more difficult for him to manage and he started thinking about committing suicide. He was diagnosed with adhd a few years later when he was 22 and now he now manages both with a mixture of therapy and medication. He's not perfect and obviously that didn't get rid of his depression but he has always had a safe space to talk about it and to get the help he needs. He advocates a lot for mental health in general but especially where athletes where it tends to get ignored with all the pressure put on them and he brings that into all of his relationships with his teammates trying to create a safe space for them. He is a huge factor in actually getting Em, Mara, and Florian to see therapists and he's who Florian calls after his 5th attempt and takes him to the hospital.

I need y'all to know that Jude popped into my head literally today. He was named like 3 hours ago. So this is all just kind of developing as I yap about him. He's big on team inclusion. Doesn't want anyone to feel left out. At first Ilya really butted heads with Mara and Florian cause they were Raven's and Jude was basically the one to get sick of that and tell them they needed to shut the fuck up and put on their get along t-shirt

He's generally pretty outgoing and he loves a good party. And by party he means hosting his team and having some food and drinks and visiting with every one. Though he does go a little crazy after a win and he will probably not get home till like 6 in the morning and then will sleep for a full 24 hours

He comes off as very loud and flirtatious to most people, most people will think he is flirting even when he isn't and he has accidentally agreed to multiple dates before realizing they were dates and having to awkwardly let people down. He doesn't really date much, not seriously, largely because of how involved he is with the media portion of his job. If he does end up dating (and I don't have anyone set up for him yet) it'd most likely be another exy player who is also super involved with the media and interacting with the press

You took the rest of the day off school when he texted you that they just arrived and you drove to your shared apartment wanting to be there when he gets home.

You were in the living room on your phone waiting patiently when he opened the door tossing his bag on the floor before sighing loudly and taking off his shoes.

"Amor?" you said walking towards the hallways shocked to see his eyes red like he's been crying the entire night and his hair disheveled. Did the loss really hurt him this much??

"What are you doing home princesa? Aren't you supposed to in school till seven?" he said smiling weakly feeling so happy that you were really home because he really needed his girl right now.

"Amor, you might be the youngest but you are the vital part of the team. It's clear whenever you don't play that Barça needs you..and no, I'm not saying that because I'm your girlfriend" you said kissing him softly and he smiled weakly closing his eyes while you kissed his face gently.

"So why are they saying those mean things about me then??" he said sadly and you wished you could beat every single asshole who dared write anything bad about your adorable boy..you wanted to hold him in your arms and protect him from everyone.

I took three years of German in high school, then had a scheduling conflict with the only German IV class, so I became his teaching assistant in a lower German class instead because I liked my teacher a lot. I think my dumb logic as a 13 year old entering high school was that I had to choose a language and I couldn't roll my R's, or whatever. 

 It was a reoccurring novelty on my channel that I would randomly speak or understand some German. Some claimed that it was accent-less, sometimes, or whatever. A bit of a gimmick was that we all chose a German name from a list on day one and would address each other as those names throughout all four years of the class. Twitter, Youtube, and the Xbox 360 all came into existence around 2006, when I was 16 and in the middle of these classes, so a lot of my usernames became Sebastian because that was my not-my-name moniker that I already had ready. 

Yes, I was already basically a furry, but I didn't have a named fursona until 2022 and doubt I would have openly embraced it as my name all the way back then. 

 [As an aside, folks fixate on me mentioning that I was a furry when I was a minor, and then juxtapose that with me making the point that minors probably shouldn't be online. This isn't really a contradiction. First, yeah, I was an unsupervised minor online and that probably wasn't great. But second, I grew up on a very, very different internet than the one that exists today. It's not just about how Twitter makes no effort to separate minors from adult content etc, but also the upsetting way that the internet forms this secondary layer over middle and high school that further enables bullying and paranoia. We know the internet is fucking kids up nowadays. When I talk about having "usernames" in 2006, we're talking about Halo 2 and cat videos. Even when I mention websites that still exist today, they were purely chronological feeds with manually-curated front pages. There was no algorithm as we understand it today. FurAffinity is like the only website that still functions like things did in 2006, and people hate using it for that exact reason lmao]

Anyway that was a surprising amount of my identity in the early years of doing let's plays [2011-2015], insofar as having any distinguishable features whatsoever was your "identity" among a sea of nearly identical gaming channels. I was the guy who played puzzle games, took his time, rambled a lot, spoke some German, and would randomly spout off rock facts because I was also freshly graduating college with a bachelor of science degree in geology. I was surprised by how excited people would get about rock rants. I got excited when I saw basalt columns in Dragon Age Inquisition, but quickly started to notice that they were absolutely everywhere in games, so I started maintaining a gallery that listed them all: https://imgur.com/gallery/columnar-jointing-watch-Alpmz 

I didn't have a particular attraction to German or geology, though. I took German because I was asked to pick a mandatory language class as a young teen, and I took geology because I dropped out of computer science and needed to still get a degree because I was raise to go to college. So in the years since my memory of both has faded significantly. My last German class was in 2007, and my last bit of geology in 2013.

Realistically, the most useful language to learn would probably be Japanese. That might seem unintuitive since everyone in California says Spanish for obvious reasons, but understanding Japanese would actually come in handy for my job pretty regularly. It sure would have helped when I was litigating specific elements of Beastars, that's for sure. Lately I just send screenshots of stuff to Toaster with the caption "heeeeeeelllp"

I spent all day yesterday with my mom talking abt a lot of stuff but amongst all those things she let me intensely infodump about tf2 for hours and I got to show her a lot of things, here are the highlights of me showing tf2 to a white uruguayan 53 year old woman who’s only game experience is bejeweled

I first gave her a very surface level rundown of the game plot which she found nonsensical the more questions she asked, I showed her the meet the merc vids first and at the end of each I gave her extra info about them

She thinks heavy is interesting and she’d probably like him more if he was put in a normal situation where he’s just a civilian living life, she never made a fat joke abt him so lets fucking gooooooo 👍👍👍👍👍👍

Her feelings on scout are mixed and didn’t like when I said he was one of my favorites, she said I need to like smarter people (this will be her downfall later) she did like him a lot more after we watched Expiration Date and found him and Miss Pauling endearing (she was great at picking up the subtext which surprised me) also asked her what age she thought scout had and she said 19 or 20 😭 then made a joke abt his baby face when I told her his actual age

Engineer scares her a small bit and does NOT understand how he’s my number 1 favorite (it was so hard to pretend I am normal about him in front of her) thinks him playing the guitar with a glove is stupid. I explained to her a bit of the conagher family story and she said that dell basically got the short end of the stick (because he’s tasked with fighting in the war AND maintaining the australium immortality devices when australium ran out) 😭

Thinks sniper is okay, I asked her what age she thought he had and she said 50 LMAOOOOO when I told her his actual presumed age she went “oh damn then I’m doing GREAT for my age”. I went on a huge tangent about the comic’s timeline and plot just to explain to her how he’s not ACTUALLY australian and she got sad abt him :( I did not tell her abt the jarate until a lot later bc I knew it would irredeemably ruin her image of sniper, I explained to her the game mechanic and as I was going to say “it gives the enemy a negative effect” she cuts me off and goes “yeah it makes them die from embarrassment” she also made a jarate pun in Spanish that I can’t remember at all rn I’m so sorry

Did not understand a single thing demoman said in the entire video and I don’t really blame her, her English is not good or that advanced it’s quite strange because she can understand some random complex words but had to ask me what “screw you” means so yeah she didn’t understand demomans accent she did however notice it was the same voice actor as heavy. I told her about demomans background and story and she found it so incredibly strange but wished for him to recover from alcoholism because it’s not good for him 💜 I told her abt demomans charms but she wasn’t quite charmed herself sadly (she did enjoy him in emesis blue)

Like mother like child, the Meet The Spy video was her favorite out of the bunch and she very quickly clocked in on the fact spy is scouts father without me saying anything, she said that from a technical standpoint spy is the most valuable mercenary on the team (goddamn not even the medic got considered) she also enjoyed him a lot in Expiration Date and Emesis Blue, I think hes still her favorite as of right now. Also we watched lil pootis and she laughed SO hard when I told her blu spy divorced blu ma and got with blu engie. She also frowned when red spy left lil pootis in the hallway alone and made jokes about mistreating his grandson

She did NOT like meet the medic or medic himself, absolutely creeped out by him and when I told her medic is one of my favorites she looked at me and went “your concept of what’s “comedic” and “fun” is very wrong and I hope you never get a boyfriend because I’m afraid of what you’ll bring home”….. I don’t know if she was serious or not 😭 I also never mentioned liking medic that way but I guess she fucking clocked me for it anyways. I tried to give her some medic propaganda and she found him tricking the devil to be very funny, I haven’t asked her if her opinion on medic has changed after watching emesis blue tho (I’m very curious to know since it’s a very different interpretation of him) I haven’t told her a single thing about heavymedic because I am afraid of what she’s gonna do with the knowledge of tf2 ships and I’m probably gonna keep it that way. She did seem charmed by the way medic genuinely loves his doves since she’s an animal lover herself

Soldier scared her a bit but mostly confused her, her initial reaction was rejection because of his ultra patriotism, nonsensical lines and violent tendencies however he grew onto her rather quickly to even make it to like second or third place on her list of favorites mainly because I told her about his raccoon sanctuary and the fact he is a great boyfriend (I didn’t tell her abt the naked honey fighting… I’ll show her later) and a great friend to demoman as well (she finds their cross faction friendship adorable)

Pyro absolutely TERRIFIES her she was utterly horrified by the meet the pyro video and doesn’t know what scares her more, the idea that pyro doesn’t know what they’re doing or that they do and do it anyway. I didn’t get to tell her abt pyro becoming a CEO in the comics but I’ll mention it eventually, the interpretation of them in emesis blue probably did not help her be less scared of pyro lmao. Also she thought the baby mercs in the meet the pyro video were oddly adorable and wants one….whatever that means

Overall she said the age of the game shows itself in the videos with their quality and what not and I also told her they were animated using SFM and briefly explained how it’s a free software fans have used for years to make fan content. Also she thinks the blu spy head in the freezer is the FUNNIEST shit ever

She picked on a lot of details that I didn’t think she would and actually hearing her thoughts about the video after was rather fun, she did note how scout had used what he learned from spy later on the fight against the bread monster with miss Pauling for example

Nearly screamed when the bread monster ate the dove and let out a sigh of relief when she saw it was ok

Found scout very endearing when he explained he knew girls like Pauling don’t like him

The bit with the bucket made her laugh out loud I had to pause the video because she was curled into a ball laughing

I had failed to explain that they have teleportation technology in tf2 so when she saw the teleporters she loudly went “what the FUCK is that”

Loved miss Pauling a lot in fact before watching this video she asked me if we were gonna see her at some point since I had already spent a while talking abt her earlier

She didn’t have a lot of comments about other stuff I showed her that are worth mentioning but she loved emesis blue! She’s like me about liking weird confusing movies so that part she loved a lot but could do with a bit less violence, at one point whenever the characters were in danger she’d cover her face and go “they don’t die do they?” Over and over again lmao

Quick disclaimer: English is not my first language so please keep that in mind when judging! I am fluent in Spanish so I will be providing a translation after every Spanish phrase.

“I'm so nervous, I don't exactly want to meet your teammates and all of their footballer friends”

“Yes you do amor, you're just nervous because there will be a lot of people you don't know”

“Wow, thanks for the affirmation babe” You were nervous. Since your boyfriend played for Barcelona, he had a lot of footballer friends who also have footballers friends which meant that he was obviously invited to Robert Lewandowski's annual Christmas party. Not only were you terrified because it was your first impression of his teammates, but you were afraid to be compared to everyone else's fabulous model girlfriends. To make it short, you were not excited.

“Look, it's going to be fine, they're going to love you and I know you're going to love them, even Manuel might be there.”

“Manuel… as in Manuel Neuer. He's going to be there! No way, no way. Oh my god, now I'm even more scared than before. I have to make a good impression so he doesn't hate me while also realizing my presence and the fact that I exist.”

And that is when Gavi realized his mistake. He had always known you had loved the German goalkeeper, even going as far to attend all of the Bayern FC games as much as possible, including the ones where they played Barcelona, and managed to root for Manuel and his team instead of your boyfriend and his team.

“Oh, I guess but you know he might not even show up. He could be busy or whatever.” Gavi tried to deflate your emotions by hinting that he might now show up but he knew he would show up, after all, he and Robert were friends and teammates for years. He had to prepare himself for a night of you ignoring him, and not being jealous. But he wasn’t jealous, maybe envious, but definitely not jealous.

“Okay maybe he might not, but now that I think about it he probably will show up. He's been friends and teammates with Lewandowski for years and I still think they might be friends. They were really connected during their time at Bayern. Okay, so I just need you to introduce me to him, and then I'll connect with him because I know everything there is to know about him and Bayern…” You went on and on about your plan to impress Neuer and Gavi just sat there listening. Well, not precisely listening. He was just staring at you pretending to listen to you, he couldn't precisely stand to listen to you rant about your favorite player of all time (which was not him). But no, he was not jealous. At all.

You two had finally arrived at Robert’s house and it was beautiful, the whole house was decorated with wonderful lights and cute decorations. Gavi had parked and was now getting out of the car so that he could open the door for you and lead you into the house, like a gentleman.

Standing outside of the door you stopped, which worried Gavi.

“Qué te pasa? Porque parastes? ¿Estás bien?” (What happened to you? Why’d you stop? Are you good?)

“Si, si estoy bien solo estoy nerviosa. Qué pasa si a ellos no les gusto?” (Yeah, yeah I'm fine I'm just nervous. What happens if they don't like me?)

“Amor, te digo otra vez, ellos te van a amar. Tu eres perfecta en cada aspecto tuyo y no tengo duda que te van a amar.” (Love, as I tell you once again, they will love you. You are perfect in every aspect and I have no doubt that they will love you.)

“Okay, okay. I think I'm ready, let's go in.” You assure Gavithat you're ready. Not really, but he doesn't need to know that. As soon as you ring the doorbell the door opens and reveals Robert.

“Gavi! Ay, my favorite youngster come in come in!” Robert exclaimed cheerily with an expression only defined as one thing: drunk. “Oh! This must be your girlfriend, the big Bayern fan. Come in there's food and drinks at the table.” He points to a long table filled with all kinds of food and desserts as well as a big variation of drinks; both alcoholic and non-alcoholic.

You both made your way around, Gavi introducing you to his teammates and their girlfriends/wives. After you had been properly introduced to everybody you both sat down on a couch calmly talking. “Wow, Gavi! This is great! The house is so big and beautiful and your teammates are all so nice and friendly! You were right, there was nothing for me to worry about.”

As you finished talking, Gavi had stopped paying attention and instead stared intently at something. You had noticed he wasn't listening to you anymore and turned around to look at whatever he was staring at when you saw him, your idol: Manuel Neuer. “Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god…” you trailed off as you stared at him.

Gavi realized that you had noticed him too and cleared his throat which brought your attention back to him. “What, what were you saying babe,” he asked to try and deflect your attention back to him and not Manuel, to add effect he kissed you deeply and held your hand.

“Oh it's nothing, did you see him? I am freaking out, I made eye contact with him, and I'm about to have a panic attack.” You confess, thinking nothing of Gavi's sudden jaw clenching. You knew that there was no one in your heart except Gavi, but getting him jealous was always a harmless game he didn’t realize he was playing.

“Yeah, I saw him.” He replied shortly. Realizing you had already gotten him jealous, you decided to go and meet Manuel. Yes, you were afraid to meet him, he was your idol, after all, but riling up your boyfriend seemed more exciting. Getting up from his lap, you headed over to where Manuel was. “Wish me, luck babe.”

“How about I go with you? I would like to meet him as well.” Gavi suggests. He knew that if he was there by your side then Manuel would get the idea; keep in mind, Manuel was married with kids, in which he showed no romantic interest towards you but for some reason that was not clicking for your boyfriend.

“I would love that, it would really make me feel better.” And with that, you both stood up and made your way over to where Manuel was standing with his family. Yiu stopped in the middle of walking to turn around and talk to Gavi. “You know what maybe this isn’t the greatest idea.”

“Babe as much as I dont want you to meet him-“

“…Wait what?”

“I-I mean as much as I know you want to meet him-“

“Heard you the first time. Got you babe.” You laughed at him while Gavi slowly opened his mouth very clearly indicating surprise.

“Wait, wait wait wait… what.”

“You are so easy to make jealous and this was the perfect chance to get back at you for your prank the other day. I knew we would be going here, I knew he would be here, and I knew you would have no choice to endure it or lose your pride.” You admit.

He just stares at you. “Estas diciendo la verdad?” (are you telling the truth?). He can only make out a few words because he’s truly in shock. He can’t beliege you would jonás far as making him jealous just to get him back for scaring you one time. It wasn’t even that bad.

“Claro que si! Tú crees que iba a dejar eso así? And I thoight you knew me better than that.” (Of course! You thought I was gonna key that go?)

“Oh.” Was all Gavi said. safe to say he had learned his girlfriend never forgot even the smallest of things and would go as far to prey on his ego. “Okay lesson learned.”

“Good now let’s go get some drinks.”

“Wait. you don’t want to meet Manuel? He’s your idol?” He asked.

“Oh no I do! I’m just scared so I won’t.”

And that was when Gavi realized he could prank you: again. “Hey Manuel!” he called out to your idol. “So nice to meet you this is my girlfriend y/n and she’s such a big fan of yours.” He told Manuel. You were so shocked and amazed that no words came out and just shook Manuel’s hand with a smile on your face and revenge on your mind.

“So nice to meet you I always love meeting a fan!” Manuel admitted. He had heard the conversation leading to the interaction so he knew that you truly were a fan of him and that this was a way of payback for your boyfriend.

“So nice to meet you too! Would you mind excusing us for a minuet?” You asked nto sticking around for an answer as you grabbed Pablo and dragged him outside.

“I will kill you.”

“Mierda.” (Shit.)

Guys ik ik this took so long but to be fair I did have a research paper assigned the day I got back. I have so many requests and I ahve started on each one so there probably will be so many posted at the same time. Requests are close for the moment but will be opened up again once I finish every request.

some basic language learning thoughts (based on some common questions i see on reddit forums). as usual, if you don't like the suggestion, feel free to ignore and throw it out! what works best for you will be what works best for you - everyone is different. at the end of the day, if you continue studying (hours add up), study some new stuff (expand your knowledge), and practice/review some stuff you've studied (improve comprehension of what you know), then you'll improve. You can achieve that in a ton of different ways, and any way which motivates you to keep doing it is great.

What's the easiest language to learn? My thought on this question is... it doesn't matter as much as it might feel like it does. If any language is going to take hundreds or thousands of hours of study, you will probably want to have goals that motivate you to study for THAT long, for years. If Danish 'takes less hours to learn' than Thai, but you watch Thai shows everyday and follow thai webnovel writers and twitter, and don't have much interest in anything Danish (and no friends that speak the language), then Thai is going to be 'easier' because you have more reasons to USE it. If Spanish and French seem to take a similar amount of hours to learn, but you're planning to go to school in a French speaking country and get a job there? Well you have a more pressing Need to learn French, that will hopefully help motivate you. The 'easiest' language to learn is the language you have REASONS to learn. The language you will use, and keep using. If you have no pressing reason to learn any language, but want to learn a language? Find reasons. Make goals that require the language.

(Here's one from me - I wanted to learn Japanese, in theory I can mostly do anything I want by just reading/watching/playing translations, however I am the kind of person that really enjoys reading originals in their original form... so that's motivating. My recent kick to study more? A show I want to watch is untranslated, so I better get to studying so I can still watch it.) Your goal can be anything from: I want to visit X, I want to talk to X friend/family better, I want to blog in multiple languages, I want to watch untranslated media, I want to sing my favorite musicians songs easier, I want to work in a country that speaks it, I want access to more recipes in X language, I am into history and want to read a history book from X time period in X language, I want to play a video game before localization, really the sky is the limit on goals you can set. Your goals, and how much you want them, and how often you do the sub-goals (so if reading untranslated cnovels by an author you love is your goal, maybe along the way you read easier webnovels to motivate you and find more writers you like), is going to push you to keep studying. Even if your goal is 'pass language B2 test' if it has a deadline, and it's a goal connected to other goals (like going to work in a country with the language, translating work, writing better), that will keep you motivated. Motivation is what will make a language 'easier.' If you can't find the motivation, even the languages which should take the 'least amount of time' will feel hard.

All that said, I am now about to contradict myself. While I really think motivation is the biggest factor in if you'll keep studying and keep learning... there are languages which due to their similarity to languages you already know, will take less Total Study Hours to make progress. As an English speaker, it only took me 6 months of very lazy unorganized studying (half hour most days) to be able to start reading non-fiction French with only a handful of word lookups per page. A lot of that was because French (especially science words and proper nouns like places) has so many cognates with English. I basically 'had' thousands of words of French I already knew, just because I knew English. It took about a year to read fiction books in French only looking up a handful of words per page, for 'general main idea' comprehension. When studying Chinese, it took me also about 12 months to read fiction, look up a handful of words, and understand the 'general main idea.' But I was studying 2 hours a day. So I studied around 182.5 hours to read French fiction with word lookups, and 730 hours to read Chinese fiction with word lookups. And the Chinese also took longer to learn to read with NO word lookups, since there was no english-cognate carryover to sound-out and over rely on like with French. (Although at a wonderful certain point, you know enough Chinese hanzi that new words are built of mostly hanzi you know, and you can use that to guess the gist of a LOT of new words when extensively reading with no word lookups - that happened for me at about 2 years). My point is: Chinese DOES take more hours of study to reach language skill milestones as an english speaker, compared to French! It took me the same amount of months, because I studied Chinese more hours per day (to make up the difference - and I had a better study plan with Chinese). But if you are a total beginner, and unmotivated and KNOW you will study maybe 1 hour per day and probably not more, then learning a language that is more similar to one you already know WILL take less study hours total to reach skill milestones. And that will hopefully be motivating.

(Another example: I spent 3 months of 1-2 hours a day studying Spanish, and can read Spanish nonfiction - thanks to the similarities to French and English. I can read fiction too but it requires word lookups. Japanese, due to kanji, also got 'easier' to read once I had learned more Chinese hanzi. So if your goals include learning languages with some similarities, then once you learn some of those similarities it will make future learning 'faster.')

I spent a month once studying Esperanto (a constructed language). Do I ever use Esperanto? No. Did I find the experience helpful? Yes. Because Esperanto is designed to be fairly easy for european language native speakers, has no exceptions, it had 1. a lot of similar-words to english so I could practice 'guessing similar words' (a skill I'd use a lot with French and Spanish later), 2. practice guessing what word endings mean grammatically (since Esperanto has no exceptions the grammar patterns are much more obvious than say grammar patterns in French). 3. Practice recognizing spelling to sound connections. Those 3 skills are useful in learning any language, but natural languages will have more exceptions to the patterns.

After spending a month on Esperanto, I saw HUGE progress after studying a few hundred words, noticed a huge amount of grammar patterns and how to notice them, and just generally got the experience of 'this is what skill milestones feel like.' Later, when studying French, I used that experience to recognize French word endings and what they tend to indicate, word functions, patterns in pronunciation, guessing with cognates/similar words, and I knew what the first 'milestones' I was aiming for would be. In a similar pattern: French milestones took me a few months each to hit, so when I studied Chinese later and it was taking 2-3 times as much study time... I knew which milestone to expect myself to 'work toward' and achieve next, and knew what making progress should feel like (even if it felt like it was moving slower) so I didn't give up. I was aware that Chinese language skill milestones might 'take more hours' so I didn't panic when it was taking me almost a year of reading graded readers in Chinese to move on to simple webnovels, whereas in French I'd only been reading graded readers for half a year before I felt ready to move on. I knew the general process, because I'd done it before in a shorter timespan with French, with Esperanto.

Is Esperanto useful to you? Only you know that. I personally did not find it useful in general for me, and didn't continue to study it. But it did teach me 'how' to study a language, what progress to monitor, and gave me the confidence that I was capable of learning.

If you really feel you're incapable of learning any skill in a new language, then spending some time on a language more similar to what you already know (if possible - a language you have motivating goals with), may help you see you are capable and can learn. An addition to this: spend a LOT of hours studying as a beginner, if lack of progress demotivates you. Once you push past the beginner stage, you'll be able to do goal-related things in the language you study and that will keep you motivated. But in the beginning, progress feels slow and you feel very confused. So the more upfront studying you do, the quicker you will push through that hard-to-motivate stage.

Is learning a language that is more similar to ones you know going to take less hours of study? Probably. But either way, motivation over hundreds or thousands of hours, for years, is going to be needed. So the goals you wish to achieve will be more important in your success, rather than how many 'hours' it will take.

What do you do if you get demotivated that it's taking SO LONG to hit the next language skill milestone? Fair concern. I got demotivated OFTEN by how much longer it took to reach milestones in Japanese compared to in French. First: try to keep perspective. It's normal for it to take more hours to understand certain things, if the language is not very similar to ones you know. You have to build a bigger foundation of understanding for lots of totally new stuff. Second: you're going to hate me but I'd suggest upping the study hours per day (or week). Studying Chinese RARELY demotivated me, despite it taking more actual hours of study to hit milestones compared to French, and why? Because I increased my study time for Chinese so I was still REACHING milestones in a reasonable amount of months (very similar to the months it took to hit French milestones). 2 hours a day of Chinese study was more than 1/2 an hour of French study, but 2 hours was doable. And it meant I still got to watch shows and read within a few months, and watch/read without looking many words up (depending on difficulty) by the end of year 1. Once you are doing the goals or sub-goals you have, it becomes so much easier to stay motivated. Once I could watch cdramas before they got translated, or read any novel I wanted using Pleco or Readibu to help? It was very easy to stay motivated and do things I WANTED to do in chinese. From there it was just practice/learn using activities I had the goal of doing.

Finally, similar to the suggestions above, if you find yourself in a motivation rut what can you do? I personally try to do 'study sprints' when I'm getting demotivated and need to see significant progress. What I do is pick a small goal, then spend 1-2 months studying as much as I can to improve in that goal. Suggestions: A beginner may make the goal to study the alphabet, a pronunciation guide, and 300 common words and see how far they get by the end of the month. (If at the end of the month the pronunciation is easier to hear and alphabet is easier to read then they succeeded - and they likely will). Another beginner may make the goal to read graded readers 1 hour per day or more all month and see how much they can read. (If the first graded reader they read is easier to read at the conclusion of the month, such as less unknown words or faster reading speed, then they succeeded - and they likely will see progress). A beginner/intermediate learner into flashcards might try to study as many flashcards in Anki as they can for a month. An intermediate learner may pick an audiobook and try to listen to AS MANY chapters as they can in a month, or may pick a novel and look up every unknown word while reading for 1 hour per day or more, until the end of the month. The idea is to pick a goal where you KNOW you're current skill level, work HARD on studying to improve that skill for a month, and then try to do the skill again and see how much progress you've made. I find it very motivating. It can take months to broadly notice progress milestones like managing to improve in your overall reading skill to tackle more difficult novels. But it can take just A MONTH to learn a few hundred new words and make the current novel you're reading become much EASIER to read, or the current show you're watching to become much EASIER to follow, or for the listening skills you're struggling with to become much more instant and reliable.

Example: one of my most recent sprints was to improve my Chinese listening skills. So for a month, I listened to audio flashcards of chinese-english sentences audio, and audiobook chapters (re-listening to each chapter a few times). I saw progress in 1. The audiobook got easier to understand over time, and 2. I tried watching a cdrama I've watched before, only this time I watched it without any subtitles, and it is now much easier to quickly comprehend and follow the lines (even without chinese subs). A sprint I did after a 2 year funk with minimal japanese progress was to cram study 2000 words in memrise Nukemarine's LLJ decks (took 3 months) then try to play a japanese video game I'd tried playing before the sprint. Another japanese sprint I did was listen to japaneseaudiolessons.com free lessons for a month, to work on improving my listening comprehension and recognition of word-order faster, and it did really help with seeing an improvement in those things.

As a beginner, I think the sprints can help with staying focused on small achieveable goals and seeing your progress (like reading daily, watching a show daily, studying X new words daily, going through a chapter of a grammar book weekly, etc). And then as you get farther and can actually do some of your sub-goals, can help with pushing yourself to some significant improvement in a particular area. (Like if you reached a sub goal of reading easy webnovels, it might be a month where you read a webnovel with more unique words that's 'harder' and look all unknown words up, and by the end of the month you see that medium-difficulty webnovels now feel as easy as the 'easy' ones did at the start of the month).

And then... if you study like me, which tends to be periods of a LOT of study followed by lulls where I might watch/read/listen to the language but not do much active study, then the sprint goal months tend to help cram in 100 hours of study every so often. So that you'll still (on average through the year) have studied 1-2+ hours a day. I do not focus well, and sprint goal months along with more relaxed months where I just watch/read/listen to stuff when I feel like it, is the only way I can get myself to study regularly. If you can consistently study daily, then sprint goal months can help you make Significant progress in a very specific area if some slow-progress area has been demotivating you. (And you can turn the sprint goals into challenges with friends, or tests to see what study methods work great for you versus bore you).

Ordem Paranormal: Some English Names

Cellbit just announced that a release date for "Ordem Paranormal: Iniciação" is to be confirmed these next few weeks! This will be the first Paranormal Order media officially translated to English and Spanish, which means we'll have canon names in other languages, finally!!

Some weeks ago I was bored and decided to translate the entirety of the comic into English. Just because. And of course I cannot post it anywhere, but I thought I could share some of the decisions I made towards some names that I find fun or am really proud of, before we get official names for good.

(Reads: I had put a lot of effort translating those pages, and I didn't want it to die in the back of my hard drive, so I'm posting some of it on Tumblr.)

SR. VERÍSSIMO = MR. VERITY

“Senhor Veríssimo” is one of the centre characters of the Paranormal Order universe. We don't know much about him, but he's one of the figures in charge of Ordo Realitas. He's got a very strong name. “Senhor" is a honorific, equivalent to “sir” or “mister”. “Veríssimo" is, in fact, a lusitanian surname. But it's also an adjective.

ve·rís·si·mo adjective Very truthful; absolutely exact.

It’s not just a name, as well. In the very first scene we learn it’s also a title.

My first option was “Mr. Wright”. Because "Veríssimo" sounded to me as a very strong reference to a game Cellbit played a bit before the release of his first Paranormal Order campaign — Ace Attorney. "Phoenix Wright" is translated in Brazil as "Fênix Veríssimo".

But it didn't sound fitting. Being “very truthful” and being “right" are different things. I thought “Mr. Wright” attached an arrogance that was not really in character. So I searched for a term that could mean something similar.

ver·i·ty noun The quality of being true.

This is very curious. “Verity" is a word that’s not much in use in English, just as “Veríssimo" in Portuguese. And it’s a word that came into old-English from French, that came from the Latin word “vēritās”. Plural: “veritates”. Which is, basically, the first name the Order had, during the first two seasons in the RPG sessions available on YouTube! So, yeah, there's a whole... etymologic easter egg, I guess.

ZUMBI DE SANGUE = ZOMBIE OF BLOOD

This was a challenge because I had to decide if I wanted to keep it simple or not. Probably because I am very dramatic, literal translating makes me feel dirty — as if I'm not doing my job properly.

The only decision I made was if I would call them "Blood Zombies" or "Zombies of Blood". I decided for the later because of the way I understand this monster's name. "Blood Zombies" implies zombies made out (?) of blood. But I understand this monster as beings from the element Blood. Which is a quite different concept.

CARENTE = DESTITUTE

"Carente" means "someone in need of attention or care", and this monster is mentioned very briefly in a dialogue between Daniel and Alex. It was named by Daniel Hartmann in his book "Contos de Uma Criatura Carente", so the first thing I did was translate the book's title.

des·ti·tute adjective Without the basic necessities of life; not having

I don't just like how this word sounds, but I think its meaning aligns pretty well with the original. That's why Hartmann's book became "Tales of a Destitute Creature".

This monster became very famous because of r/place, and I admit that seeing people calling him "Needy" made me a bit stressed.

ABERRAÇÃO DE CARNE = FLESH ANOMALY

This one is very descriptive — it's a flesh monstrosity, therefore, it's called an "aberração". I see this word often translated as "freak", but I can't relate these two words as completely aligned for some reason. I never think of an "aberração" whenever I hear the word "freak". I don't think they're used to the same purposes.

We use "aberração" for something completely out of imagination, something terrifying and bizarre. "Freak" is an eighties slang for the bullied kid from school :P

Therefore, I went for "Flesh Anomaly", expressing something so abnormal, so out of this world...

DEGOLIFICADA = GARROTTIFIED

This one is pretty hard, and I'm actually curious at how they'll translate this name.

In the comic we can actually see this creature's name building up. The word "degolar" means "to cut one's throat", describing perfectly Agatha's death.

That's why, during one of the confrontation scenes, Liz addresses it as "cara degolificada" — "dear degolified".

There's no word in English that can directly translate the same concept. Slaughter is not specific enough, Behead is a much more advanced action... Beheaded was actually my first option, but I didn't like it.

But — we can mean something similar. "Garrotte" means "to kill someone by strangulation using a collar". It's not exactly what happened to Agatha... but it sounds nice, lmao.

I could stay here for thousands and thousands of words, but I wanted to focus only on the main points of my translation. There were tons of dialogues that I had a hard time with, but I'll probably just keep them to myself :P

Anyways, it was fun to get headaches over lexicon for some weeks, but now I'm excited to see how all of these terms will be once the canonical version is released!

Prompt #23, Book Of Just Chaos™: Fanwork with a cracked crossover/ship with characters from two very different genres 

The main crossover in question is: Dani Rojas (Ted Lasso) & Mika Camarena! (+ other Narcos: Mexico and Ted Lasso characters)

Relationships: Kiki Camarena/Mika Camarena, Mika Camarena & Dani Rojas

Warnings: None in terms of content, but just ignore the vastly different time periods of the shows... Let's just pretend that they co-exist, ok? Ok.

Mika walks through the streets of Guadalajara, mostly when she knows that Kiki’s out, and won’t be back for a while. 

She gets it, maybe not as entirely as she thinks, but she gets it. This job is important to him, and her husband’s always wanted to do good. For the family, for the world, or at least a portion of that world: Mexico. 

But sometimes, no, actually, most of the time, she believes it’s too much. She tells him, late at night, how dangerous things feel. How he just needs to have some time off, to recalibrate… To focus on the good things in life. 

He zones out at the barbecues hosted, sitting back with his drink and watching his companions revel about trivial things, their wives joining in on occasion. 

But there’s no victory. Not when they’re falling so far behind. When the drug lords of the world are only rising up the ladders, and they’re… Revelling. Socialising. Over nothing.  

She needs to get him out of here. Even if it means they might not come back… For a week, or two, or three– Hell, a holiday! DEA agents work so hard, of course they’re gonna need one! 

The afternoon sun bears down on Mika as she finds spaces of green, families in parks, many enjoying picnics or popsicles. 

But one particular green space catches her eye, barred off by a green wiry fence. There’s a door to this area, how else would all the boys get inside? But she’ll watch from her distance. 

She listens, keenly, to the mix of English and Spanish in the air. Young boys, lined up in jerseys and sport shirts. Black and white balls at their feet… 

A practice enclosure. A field. A training ground. 

Maybe they’ll go to a football game, Kiki and Mika, and do something else for a day… But a single day off? It’s nothing. It’s about as good as one of those barbecues, and off they all go, into regular life again. 

However, she won’t give up hope so easily. 

One young man gets pulled aside by the coach, and the coach speaks harshly to him in a flurry of Spanish. The young boy should probably be crumbling at the severity, but instead, he’s steeling himself, waiting patiently, properly– 

There’s her ticket. There’s his ticket. 

“ You’re no longer good enough for El Tigre. Only because you’re better. Tomorrow, off to Richmond. You play the big game, Dani. ”  

The boy’s eyes, Dani’s, widen in an instant. He first salutes his coach, before jumping up and down, shaking his hand. “ Gracias, Coach! ¡Muchas gracias! ” 

And it’s like the world has fallen into his hands. Like Guadalajara is now too much for him, perhaps too small for him… And this Dani fellow might not even fit into London very well, and he might come running back to the safety, the familiarity of El Tigre.  

Mika knows it’s no good to eavesdrop, to watch from the side, but then she remembers that Kiki does this every day. Around drug lords. And this? It’s a community football team, who is she kidding?! 

“Hey, you!” She calls out to the young boy, “Dani, isn’t it?!” 

“ Sí! ” He responds, his dark brown hair jumping up and down with him, “That’s me, Dani Rojas. Do you support the team?” He gestures back to his teammates, hell, they’re his friends. And he’ll miss them. 

Mika waves a so-so hand and sighs, “Look, I’m sorry if this seems weird, or rude, or something, but… My husband and I needed a getaway from Guadalajara. He’s not very keen on a holiday, but I am, so… Why don’t we join you in Richmond?” 

Dani’s foot taps against the ground, likely mulling it all over… Which is fair enough. A random woman, approaching him, basically trying to follow him to where he goes– It’s almost stalker-y, if Mika was the last thing from a stalker, and Kiki actually… Kinda stalked for his occupation. 

The smile on his face is like a ray of sun itself, bursting with life on her face. “Coach told me the flight’s for 9 o’clock tomorrow! Ooh, it’s going to be a long day, my friend!” 

She nods and brushes back a strand of her hair. This is our ticket.  

“You seem like a lot of fun, Dani.” She shrugs, “Call me Mika.”

Kiki Camarena arrives home late that night. 

Not that Mika Camarena has any objections this time around. 

All the lights are on, bags are strewn on the floor, clothes everywhere– It’s like Mika’s pretending to be him when he packs for a long stakeout. 

And it’s confusing, because he hasn’t been assigned to any long stakeouts, and hasn’t had the guts to try again after last time… He’s been complacent (somewhat) working with the information that they have, sticking with the group, no crazy travel destinations! 

So why does this feel like he’s going to a crazy travel destination? And, if it’s related to anything with the DEA, why does his wife know first?  

“Hey, honey?” Kiki begins, knocking gently on their bedroom door, “Do you mind telling me what this is?” 

Mika laughs and looks up from her pile of clothes, her expression surprisingly bright. “Yeah, Kiki. We’re goin’ on a holiday tomorrow.” 

“A holiday?!” He immediately exclaims, furrowing his brows, “Mika, we’re here in Guadalajara, we don’t have time for a–” 

“Holiday.” She finishes, “Yes, we do. I’ve talked to Jaime, he’s given you time off. You’ll be back on the job the minute we get back, ok?” 

“Fine.” He resigns, gesturing to all the clothes, “So, where are we going? And when’s our flight?” 

“9 o’clock tomorrow morning, and we’re off to Richmond. It’ll be fun!” 

London, of all places? Why? What’s going on? What surprises are there?! 

“Help me out here, and do yourself a favour, sweetheart. Prepare for jet lag.”

“When’s the new player, what’s-his-name–” 

“Dani.” Both Nate and Beard say in unison. 

“Yeah, him…” Ted sighs, rubbing his hands over his eyes, “When’s he comin’ in?” 

“Should be sooner or later. He’s from Mexico, remember?” Beard reminds, “But we should cut him some slack.” 

“Yeah, that’s right.” The manager stretches, looking out onto the pitch. It all reminds him of Sam, his homesickness, and his struggle for a few days. It’s not going to be fair to him to force him to play his best. 

After all, they need to figure out who Dani Rojas is, as a player and a man. It’s Ted's approach, after all: Find out one’s skills, one’s weaknesses, one’s personality… And slowly let them click into place. And whoever they click with? Well, it’s not his choice. 

As long as they fit in somewhere, the team can work with that. 

Little do they know what sort of storm is coming.

Dani, Kiki and Mika step off the plane, and they each consult each other for directions, until they find taxis. 

And now, they’re on their way to Richmond AFC. 

It turns out that Dani Rojas, not unlike his new coach, Ted Lasso, talked for the majority of the flight. He didn’t seem entertained by any of the movies, games, and so on in front of him… Instead, he was enthralled by the idea of going to Richmond, of pouring himself and his life out onto Kiki and Mika. 

Mika did most of the talking in return, especially with her husband and his job. It’s because of that that he holds suspicions about everybody. 

Even this young footballer, fresh off a team in their area, and the sort of guy who’s filled the most loving personality. 

He repeats his mantra several times over to his newfound friends: “Football is life, right?! Oh, you’ll see… Football is life. ”  

Kiki tries to smile in the taxi, watching the world pass them by. A new place, new temporary accommodation, but his mind simply itches with bigger and better things: The drugs, the routes, the kingpins at the head of the game. 

He can’t switch off. At least, not for long. 

It helps to watch the young man, at times, seeing how he’s humming things to himself in Spanish… Mika clearly knew what to do, to make a strong connection with this guy, and something that would interest him enough to think about anything but the drugs. 

Maybe a part of that plan was working. 

They step out at Richmond AFC and Dani races through the front door of the club, surrounded by grey, blue and red. New colours, new themes, new surroundings… And he’s anything but fazed. 

And out the back door? That’s his ticket. The sun shining down on the gloriously green pitch, marked up in white. 

“Come on, amigos! ” He calls out to Kiki and Mika, “Let’s play!” 

The pair follow after Dani, sharing a small chuckle at that. The last thing they’ll be doing is playing, instead, just observing. Being completely honest with themselves, they would have rather headed to their accommodation first– But things are sorted out there, apparently. 

Besides, they’re here to support their new friend. 

And, in doing so, they end up beside the manager himself, Ted Lasso. 

He turns to face the newcomers with a bright smile, “Oh, hey!” He waves, “I’m only assuming you came with Dani?” 

“Yeah!” Mika smiles back, encouraged by the man’s initial reaction, “I’m Mika and this is Kiki. We’re friends of Dani’s.” 

“Well, ‘friends’ is one way to describe it.” Kiki chips in with a small frown, “It’s a long story.” 

“Perfect.” Ted says. Right off the bat, a long story connecting these two and Dani? Of course, he’s ready. “You can tell me everything, more than happy to hear it. I’m Ted, by the way, Ted Lasso.” 

From there, the woman dives into the details, with Kiki adding his own sentiments every now and then, a few sparing details about his job, because this man… Mika seems to trust him. 

And sometimes, that’s all he can believe: His own wife’s emotion and intuition. 

“Now we’re here. All because of Dani.” The DEA agent finishes, turning back to face the pitch, “Hold on… How is he not jetlagged as hell?! And he’s–” 

Really good. Is what he was going to say, and the three of them watch the young player circle around the other Richmond players, scoring a smooth and impressive goal in quick time. 

“Ooh, boy… He’s like a goshdarn puppy, that one!” Ted laughs, unable to help it. “Look, you two, you enjoy your time here. Rest is one of the best things you can get, Kiki, alright?” He pauses for a moment, but not enough to let anyone interject, “Hey, and if you need anythin’, just give me a holler, you got it? I’ve been here for a few months now, I’m not perfect, but– You’re two fellow Americans in London, so, we’re all in the same boat.” 

Kiki considers his words and sighs quietly. Rest is one of the best things you can get…  

He realises, only just then, how much his body’s been aching, how much his eyes struggle to stay awake, how the constant frustration and anger is only added to this amalgamation of things. 

God, he needs some rest. 

The minute that the pair walk away from the football scene, the man finds himself leaning his head against Mika’s shoulder, and she presses a kiss to his head. 

“Exhausted, aren’t you?”  

“Yeah…” Kiki replies slowly. 

“Well,” Mika simply laughs, “I’m glad that Ted Lasso got to you. ‘Cause it’s about damn time.”

The only thing that stops me from jumping in this AU is that I read the books in Spanish and a lot of names are different in English and I'm not willing to translate them. Nor to read them in English although I'm sure is a whole new experience but, if someone cares, my mind is playing with Game of Thrones.

Listen, the first time (chronologically speaking) in 1600s, when Rose and Alfie met is because her father sold her to him (in a cruel version of Mr. Coldwell, because he's an awful father but he doesn't hate his kids.) as always, she's the firstborn. But exists a line of male heritage, so Samuel is the one who Mr. Coldwell cared about (but thanks to that, they started to meet in every universe, so fuck you mr. Coldwell 😂)

If I move that to a noble family it'd work as well. If she's the firstborn and there's a line of male heritage then she's is forced to married a nobleman to keep her status but also to join another house to hers.

The only place that comes to my mind that daughters are equal to sons is Dorne (and also the Bear Island), but I can't put Rose in Dorne because she's not PoC. And it's not accurate to her og!story where Rose accepted to married a man she didn't love to help her family.

Rose [insert here a new surname] married to Lawrence [...] and then comes Alfie [...] a là Robert Baratheon, Raegar, Lyanna. (But not exactly)

But Flor! Create a new world! No! I want Westeros 😂.

I have Jersey headcanons and gosh darn it, it's a tad long, so I'm only doing like one page at a time, I'll post the other ones later probably...if I remember. ANYWAY HERE!!

New Jersey

Constantly moving, either tapping his foot or moving his legs, always dancing too, if there’s music he’s moving

He also tends to sing whatever song is on his mind, whether it’s English or not

He knows all of the states comfort foods

Controls the entire StateHouse garden, and is the reason there is a flower garden, if you want a flower in that garden you talk to him to figure out where said flower needs to go and what conditions it needs

He and New Mexico managed to convince Gov to let them have a pool at the StateHouse

When he was learning the south’s comfort foods, he managed to convince Texas to teach him how to make a brisket, yes it’s not really any of the south’s comfort food but it’s a southern thing so of course he needed to learn

When angry he’ll switch into different accents, Spanish, Dutch, Swedish, and surprisingly to some, southern

South Jersey is pretty southern, one of his comfort foods is grits

When he hosts NE dinner at his home, he makes sure to add in dishes that are shared favorites

Any and all produce that can be grown in NJ climate, is grown in his back garden with all the accommodation they need

Mafia boss, he doesn’t partake anymore and technically the guy he was is dead but still, the power remains

Used to be a show boy, occasionally still is with Nevada

Just mildly obsessed with roller coasters

During the summer, if he’s not at the shore then he’s most likely at Great Adventure

While it’s not his favorite game, he LOVES to play Just Dance

His room is actually in the south hall instead of the north, he’s between Texas and Oklahoma, he switched with New Mexico because he would have had to be between Penn and Mass and he would rather die than be between that warzone

Has lots of animals on his farm but his favorite are his horses, a few of which he was given by Kentucky

Taught Kentucky, Tennessee, and Ohio how to play poker and blackjack, the only thing is, is that Jersey taught them how to cheat without them knowing

Jersey never actually cheats in card and money games, he just knows how to play

Stopped talking to Nevada in the 80s because of Atlantic City, Nevada understood it was because they were rivals and also the mafia but it doesn’t stop Jersey from feeling bad about it

Despite what everyone tends to think, Jersey likes to keep to himself and is relativity quiet for the most part, it just so happens that he is normally around people that he either likes (NY, NM, NH, Cali, Rhode, Del) or has strong feelings about (Mass, Penn, NY, Connecticut, Virginia), which makes him loud

I wanna collaborate! How do I unlock collaborative mode with you??

First you have to beat the main story in order to unlock New Game+. Once that's unlocked Start a NG+ save file. You can select one thing to carry over to the new save and although the next step sounds easier if you select to carry over your levels and skills you have to select to keep items and equipment for this to work. Once the NG+ has been started use the key item you got in the haunted house on the previous save (Holy Water) in the first tutorial dungeon before going to the boss. This will make it so the boss will cast a new spell called "Magna Aura". This will cause a debuff to be cast on you. You need this debuff to go on so dont kill the boss until you been afflicted. Once you have the debuff you can move on but fair warning: staying at an inn will cure the debuff so your going to have to grind low level low damage dealing enemies for gold early on because you'll need the money to heal with items from the shop to keep the debuff. This is going to be hard because from here the time is ticking as the debuff only lasts 12 hours of game play on the system clock so you won't have a lot of time to grind money. My recommendation is checking some speed runs and see if you can perform any sequence breaks to save time. I've never been able to actually perform one myself but I've seen it done on YouTube vids so I know it's possible. Either way you need to speed run to the final dungeon before the Magna Aura debuff wears off. This makes it so that the treasure chest that normally has the best sword in the game "Sol Del Sol" in it to drop the "Sol Del Luna" instead.

Now that you have the Sol Del Luna equip it. Normally once you enter the final dungeon you can't exit it so if you save in there your game is sorta softlocked but if you have the Sol Del Luna it let's you leave through the front door. I should have mentioned this earlier, but while speedrunning to the final dungeon you probably wouldn't have had time to do this but I'm going to stress this: DON'T START THE ZODIAK GAUNTLET UNTIL YOU'VE GOTTEN THE SOL DEL LUNA. DON'T EVEN GO IN THERE YET IF YOU DON'T HAVE THAT SWORD EQUIPPED!! If you have the Sol Del Luna equipped now and you go to fight the 12 Zodiak bosses they'll each drop a gemstone ((except for the Cappricorn that will drop "Orange". This is a mistranslation of 'Citrine', (Citrino) as the English localization is based on the Spanish localization of the game so you SHOULD get 11 gemstones and an orange. This is normal.))

(you probably have to level grind but without the time limit you can take your time here)

Once you have the 12 gemstones go beat the final boss and start another NG+ where you keep your items and equipment. At the beginning of the game before your hometown gets burned down after the tutorial go to the fountain in the forest behind your house. If you have the gems a cutscene will play and the fountain will move showing the staircase to a secret dungeon. Go in but be warned saving is disabled inside so you have to do this in one fell swoop. There's an optional boss called Forest Guardia you gotta make sure not to miss or you have to do the whole thing over again. Afterwards it'll skip the tutorial and go straight to your village being on fire scene, except the villages won't be dead afterwards. Play the game normally up to the point where the princess you saved gives you her hankerchief and return to your hometown to start a trading quest. Again play the game normally but each town will now have 1 npc that will want to trade from another item in the quest chain. One completed the Sol Del Sol treasure box will instead be a Mimic. Kill it and it will drop a "Funny hat". Beat the last boss with the Funny Hat equipped. Do one more NG+ But this time select "Carry Over Acievements".

On this next NG+ you should have unlocked collaboration mode.

Hi!!! Sorry I'm so late on this one, I haven't had much time to just sit down and write lately and I actually have a whole longstanding headcanon for this, which I need to illustrate with pictures!

I never really gave this much thought back when I first played the game as a kid lol, but later on when I started thinking about it, I kind of assumed Cortez had been some kind of reptilian creature, due to the slightly elongated/curved shape of his skull that doesn't really look exactly like a human skull.

Here's a monitor lizard skull, for instance.

Maybe that's still true! But several years ago, something came along that would change how I looked at a LOT of stuff in Mario's world... Super Mario Odyssey!

I think my favorite thing about that game was how many new species it introduced. Nintendo may have done pretty much nothing with them in the past six years, but that hasn't stopped ME from using my headcanons to retrofit a bunch of existing Mario characters and lore into the stuff Odyssey introduced.

For instance, this guy's hat? Big Top? Same species as Cappy, a Bonneter. Why not?

Along the same lines, Cortez finally clicked into place. It always sticks out to me when people from a fantasy universe speak a real-world language, like Cortez with his Spanish or Dupree with his French... because it makes me think like, is there a Mario equivalent of France?? Of Spain? I know it makes as much sense as the game overall being portrayed in English or whatever language you're playing it in, so it always implied to me that "in the Mario universe there is a country close enough to what we would recognize, culturally, as France", etc.

And Odyssey came along and said: uh yeah, there ARE the Mario world equivalent of a lot of different countries.

Gee if only there was a place in the Mario world inspired by a primarily Spanish-speaking country, where the people just WERE skull-people, that's probably where Cortez would be from, right?

Oh crap!!

So yeah, my current headcanon is that Cortez is a Tostarenan. His face was never anything BUT a skull. Because that's just funny to me. And it makes sense!

I used to think "Cortez is from the Mario equivalent of Spain" but now I'm like, no, he's from the Mario equivalent of Mexico.

Of course, as for the rest of his body, well, what the heck has four arms and looks like this?? Plus he's constantly reforming himself, and seems to just exist as a skull most of the time... so my theory was always that the pile of bones he uses to create his battle forms are the assorted bones of ALL HIS CREW. After all, there's at least one extra skull in there. His crew did not retain skeletal forms in their undeath, but turned into spirits. Pretty morbid... those mates really gave it all for their captain!
