Like, you can’t make a choice if you don’t have one. I thought that was pretty self-explanatory, but there’s all those pro-lifers crowing over how their mothers made the choice to have them. If abortion was illegal it wouldn’t have been a choice ye gobshites. And the not-so-subtle implication that by extension pro-choicers always choose abortion.

It’s like the ones who dodge the question about danger to the mother’s health by saying a mother should want to sacrifice herself for her baby. Sacrifice requires choice. If you’re forced to do it because abortion’s illegal then it’s not a sacrifice.

They don’t even understand the things they pretend to glorify.

Like, you’re gonna splash out on air fares, accommodation-in Dublin- and come here to tell people to vote No in their referendum when you can’t even explain what the Eighth is to me, or what the Oireachtas Committee was, or who Ms. X and Savita were?

I haven’t even met an Irish person canvassing in the city centre for a No vote but they all have posters with fakey names of groups like The Irish Institure for Bioethical Research. That’s Boston Irish yeah?

Go raibh míle for the tourist Euros I guess, but you forgot that you need to send your army or the CIA if you’re gonna subvert another country’s democratic process.

Experts: The 8th isn’t fit to purpose, has killed and affected the wellbeing of thousands of women and needs to go.

Pro-Lifers: Damn corrupt, biased politicians! Only inviting pro-choicers. No pro-lifers at all. They wouldn’t let Mary from Ballyfuckrim or Fr. Joe speak to them coz they’re afraid of the truth.

National and State Broadcasters: *Hold a series of debates before the referendum, inviting advocates on both sides of the vote.*

Debates: *One No advocate performs well against medical, legal and political experts in the Yes side, while the rest are Mary and Fr. Joe. Suddenly every other No advocate signed up for debates withdraws without explanation and pro-life groups demand the one halfway decent debater be allowed on every debate*

Broadcasters: *Inform No groups that due to fairness and balance laws concerning reporting on referendum they can’t just have one person in every single debate, same as the Yes side.

Pro-Lifers: We’re being censored by the pro-abortion media. This is why we absolutely have to set up fake websites pretending to be official government sources of impartial information.

Government committees and broadcasters aren’t required to give the time of day to every Tom Dick and Harry who wants it. If you haven’t got any experts on your side of the line then I’d suggest you wonder why no experts agree with you instead of playing the victim.
