Nickname: Depends on who you ask, really. My best friend calls me Deej and I like that that most. 💛

Last movie I saw: Just saw the Incredibles 2 with my kids.

Last thing I googled: Used Google translate to figure out how to say something in Dutch for my Duolingo.

Favourite musician: It honestly changes from week to week, month to month, year to year. Generally I like songs for one of two reasons: the singer is singing about how I feel, or the singer is singing about how I would like someone to feel about me.

Song stuck in my head: Cherry Bomb, by the Runaways (last song I heard in the car on the way to work).

Do I get asks: I have never gotten an ask on this blog ever. 😕 I got one once on my other blog, though I hesitate to even call it an ask. It was more like an ignorant opinion someone just left in my ask box. 😑

Following: 432 (Unless this is asking about how many people are following me, in which case the answer is 13. I really need to post more of my own stuff instead of just constantly re-blogging...)

Amount of sleep: 7-8 hours on week nights (although I am able to function in a zombie-esque haze of autopilot on like 5 1/2, 6 hours) and usually a bit more than that on weekends, provided my kids cooperate.

Lucky number: 4, 5 & 9

What I’m wearing: Work clothes - khakis, shirt, sweater (I'm always cold) and my red boots.

Dream job: Teaching at a university or starting up my own little bookshop/coffee shop/pastry shop where we have coffee and karaoke.

Dream trip: Anywhere I can swim with dolphins. Also Scotland, Australia, Greece, and the Netherlands. 

Favourite food: Pasta. Literally any variation thereof. 

Play any instruments: Clarinet but that was years ago.

Languages: English. I took five years of French in high school and undergrad, and I’m using Duolingo to learn Dutch. I would also love one day to become fluent in sign language.

Random fact: I’ve had my right eyebrow pierced twice, but ultimately had to let it close up when I became a teacher.

Describe yourself as aesthetic things: The overwhelming vastness of the sparkling stars in a New Mexican night sky, floor to ceiling windows with warm sunlight pouring in, singing along with your favorite song using your hairbrush as microphone, the comforting smell of something sweet baking in a warm kitchen, cuddling in pajamas with loads of blankets and a cat or two, a vibrant rainbow of multi-colored paint chips covering an entire wall, loud boisterous laughter of the throw-back-your-head & wide-open-mouth variety, bookshelves overfilled and spilling over onto the furniture and floor, a steaming french press full of strong coffee.

1. If you could be any constellation what would it be and why?

Andromeda. She's big and bright and beautiful. It would be fun to be such a dazzling presence. Also, I have an unfortunate tendancy to assume the role of victim rather than trusting my own power.

2. If you had to pick one picture of yourself that you think best captures your personality, what picture would it be?

Probably that one. I'm a dork.

3. If you could live in one fantasy or sci-fi world from any book, movie, tv, video game etc, what would it be and why?

Probably the Guardian series by M.J. Putney. It's a witch eutopia and I love it.

4. You’re stranded on an island with just a single backpack, what items do you take with you?

Whatever practical items I can, as many as I can, to ensure my survival. Medicine. Books.

5. If you had a single song to describe your year last year, what would it be? A song to describe how you want this year to go?

That's a deceptively difficult question for me to answer because I love all types of weather for a variety of different reasons. I love any type of weather that makes me want to go outside and be part of it.

The way I think about myself and the way I treat myself.

8. What is the one thing you like the most about yourself?

My loyalty and work ethic.

9. What do you think about most when you’re by yourself?

I make up stories in my head about all the ways I wish my life was different.

10. What is the greatest struggle you’ve overcome?

Pretty much everything that happened to me my junior year of college. It's an awful lot to explain, both in length of the story and depth of the emotional content. But feel free to dm me if you want to know more.

11. Have you ever seen something you can’t explain?

Yep. Saw what I'm fairly certain was a fairy in Monet's garden in France, but I'm still not completely sure exactly what I saw.
