Prisoner of Conscience finds freedom in Buddha’s teachings
From childhood, Ma Thida dreamed of helping others―caring for the sick, sharing information despite censorship, and standing up for people’s rights. To stand against the oppression that had been stifling Myanmar’s progress for decades, she joined Aung San Suu Kyi and the many other activists in the National League for Democracy, campaigning steadfastly despite intimidation, harassment, and worse. Because of her efforts, the regime sent her to Insein Prison, where she faced serious illness and bleak conditions. She

She first found relief from her situation in the form of smuggled books, which she could only read secretly under a blanket. “So the whole night I was just sitting in a squatting position and reading,” she recalls. “It gave me so much strength, because my hunger is not just for having food to survive, but also for intellectual understanding. Without that I don’t think I can survive. That’s why the books are really like a tonic to me.”

By John Parker
After the U.S. killed the U.N. Security Council resolution for a ceasefire on Dec. 8 — and today delayed another vote of the Security Council demanding an immediate ceasefire — Washington continues to pour gas on the fires in Gaza.
“It’s just awful,” said one of the U.S. embassy representatives in Cairo, Egypt, about the killing going on in Gaza. With a bowed head with apparent frustration at their supposed inability to stop the killing in Gaza, the embassy representatives told our U.S. delegation of World Conscience Convoy participants nothing of value.

Quote
Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the spirit, in which [that is, in that spirit] he went and proclaimed to the spirits in prison, because they formerly did not obey, when God’s patience waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was being prepared, in which a few, that is, eight persons, were brought safely through water. Baptism, which corresponds to this, now saves you, not as a removal of dirt from the body, but as an appeal to God for a good conscience, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, who has gone into heaven and is at the right hand of God, with angels, authorities, and powers having been subjected to him.
1 Peter 3:18–22

Genuinely need a break from this arc real quick why does One Piece delve so deep into the ethics of war this arc, like holy shit I'm gonna fucking die
#so much emotional shit been happening during the marineford arc im gonna come out of this feeling like a jaded war soldier#seeing coby having a downright full-on panic attack while bodies fall to the ground around him?? isnt this kid like 15-17#and literally any scene where some shit happens to luffy is absolutely mortifying in nature ever since drum island#one piece sets itself up like ''lol look at these pirate friends getting into hijinks and saving each other and conquering the world!''#but then shit gets crazy every time#i can no longer in good conscience recommend this without warning people abt how scary it gets sometimes#i feel like the first taste comes during arlong park where we see nami repeatedly stabbing herself#then with us seeing zoro's wound stapled shut and bleeding like a motherfucker as he still tries to fight#because they couldn't get professional medical help even if they probably saw his fucking guts and ribcage#but shit just keeps getting more terrifying every arc#alabasta? civil war. we see the princess of her country screaming her lungs out in vain for her people to stop fighting#sky island? mass genocide. for funsies. by a man so hopped up on delusions and apathy he thinks it's funny#water 7? we see the downfall of ohara and robin trying to Fucking Commit Suicide because she finally found ppl who like her#thriller bark--THRILLER BARK SPEAKS FOR ITSELF.#seeing brook's crew sing together one last time as they all progressively drop dead one by one until only one is left#and the utter terror as we see zoro standing surrounded by his own blood in a 20 foot radius around him#impel down we see the horrors of the world government and how they treat their prisoners with layers of hell#and marineford we see a war even worse than that which we saw in alabasta#horrible horrible shit

I‘m feeling strangely anxious, and not about maths. Rather my general anxiousness is increased by my lack of fear regarding the final maths exam. It feels so pointless and unreal. I just know already that I will not feel proud of my achievement if I pass. Then what‘s the point of succeeding, of doing anything really… I feel anxious because I am fickle and arrogant and my heart feels hollowed out. My imagination is so bright and fantastic that the world looks pale and bland, always. I want to be a reclusive wizard living in a wonky cramped castle with a magical garden and only mingle with people when they come knock at my door and ask me for help nicely (Then I would even offer my assistance for free). If that‘s not possible maybe I just kill myself

I know this isnt the trauma olympics but i feel like saejima probably had it the worst bc everyone elses trauma comes from things that happened to them, not things they did. Idk how to explain it better but saejima lived 25 years of his life thinking he actually murdered 18 people and i think that can fuck up your head in another level you know

"First they came for the communists, and I did not speak out Because I was not a communist. Then they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out Because I was not a socialist. Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out Because I was not a trade unionist. Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak outBecause I was not a Jew. Then they came for me - and there was no one left to speak for me."

will also say that all my thinking about bleach and thus also my old bleach ocs, i am rethinking ways to combine two of the stories i had for them (lorcan's story, and alice's story. like they both originally involved a certain bat lmfao) and now i am like. i mean it started as me just thinking "well this would be a good way to consolidate everything" and now i am thinking about shipping them together and i am losing my mind. how do i keep doing this to myself.
#bleachposting#lorcan's story was about being the original fourth espada and ulq being his only subordinate#(though lorcan would never frame it that way; he always tried to tell ulq that they were equals)#and then lorcan ends up getting really cagey about working for aizen and fearing for ulq's life bc he sees how depressed and nihilist he is#that he ends up betraying aizen and aizen goes ''lol'' and mindfucks him and then seals him into that crystal tomb ulq was found in#and alice's story is about. well being a quincy. being sent off to hueco mundo to be part of the jaegerdame. and uh. defecting.#bc she grows a conscience.#and originally her story was part of my ulq au where he reconstitutes from the dust cloud he became in canon lmao#and is like severely depowered bc hes still recovering (high speed regen only goes so fast when you get completely deleted like that)#and like. the place where he reconstitutes is his crystal mancave tomb. you know the one. from the masked comic.#and alice literally crash lands in there and ulq who is newly reawoken is like ''hey. why are you here. what are you.''#alice as a character is like a year? or so? older than lorcan#so lorcan's story came about way after this. so i am combining them. alice crash lands onto lorcan.#and hes like ''hey thanks for freeing me from my eternal slumber lol hey whats going on out there''#i think you can see where this is going :/#sighs into my hands. this is so dumb#literally it started bc i was like ''whats a slightly sarcastic and dramatic thing lorcan could say to her''#bc thats the kind of character he is#and i wrote him calling her a ''fallen angel'' bc of how she crashed into his prison#and i just. i mean it writes itself at this point. need i say more.
