Cedric and Wormwood's childhood together

In the "Substitute Cedric", at the end of the episode, Cedric talks about teaching the royal prep students a spell that can turn rocks into ravens. The fandom also noticed this, because somehow it may be implying that Wormwood was a rock before. And I also believe that this is true, or else they wouldn't have put that in the episode because it would cause misinterpretation of their characters- there's a huge chance of this being true.

Cedric knows the spell, which means that he did it before. The only raven we have in the show is Wormwood, who happens to be his familiar. So like. Okay.

CEDRIC DID THE SPELL AND MADE WORMWOOD. It's not like my first headcanon: that they met when Cedric was young and still at Hexley Hall, and someone in the school staff (because it's an advenced spell, Cedric can't cast it) did a spell who would guarantee Wormy's life while Cedric is still alive (or else he would already be dead by now, he's a bird, there needs to have a spell somewhere) because he's his familiar now. I believe that everyone needed to find a creature to be their familiar at some point at Hexley Hall, in the first years (because having an animal assistant is necessary). But at first I was thinking like "no, okay, Cedric found Wormwood somewhere and brought him home, they did the spell and now he's his familiar" but some days later I watched that episode and found out about the "turning rocks into ravens spell"

You know what this means? Cedric literally made Wormwood. He gave him life after a rock. So his betrayal gets more painful and has a whole different meaning.

I guess we can compare this situation to a son turning against his father, somehow. I don't believe that Wormwood sees him as a father, actually very from that. He just thinks that he was a middle schooler who cast a spell on a rock and since then Wormwood is his familiar, that's all. They grew up together, more like brothers or "best (worst) friends" I would say. @shychick-52 has a good character analysis of him in her fic "The Master Wand", that explains that Wormwood's anger comes from the fact that he was just as miserable as Cedric, but Cedric got help. He got out of the dark, but he didn't held Wormwoods hand (wing) to pull him from there too. While he was getting better and being influenced by Sofia to be a good person, the same didn't happened to Wormwood, who was so deep in his hatred, insecurity (not getting other people's approval and believing that just being nice wasn't enough), revenge that he didn't change his mind. While Cedric had Sofia to help him, Wormwood had no one. It was assumed that just because Cedric got better, his raven would get better too, because of couse, a familiar obeys and thinks the same way as his master, right? He could have been saved by Cedric or Clover. But that didn't happened. And I still think he deserves a redemption arc btw, or at least an episode.

But yes, the thought about Wormwood being created after a rock by Cedric it's implied in stf and it makes the whole situation more tense. Imagine how Wormwood was feeling, imagine how Cedric was feeling. Wormwood's reasons are understandable but it's a little weird the fact that he choose to betray Cedric so fast with someone who he doesn't even know yet (Prisma). It was REALLY FAST. He didn't think twice. And it confuses me why he choose to be so many years by Cedric's side, when he could have just ran away like that at any moment. If he always thought that Cedric was an idiot then he should have ran to another master years ago, because as we can see, he doesn't even think twice before leaving him.

When Cedric says something like "what about all those years of friendship" it's not just about their friendship. (Headcanon part) It's about when the whole class needed to turn a rock into an animal to make that animal their familiar, for each animal there was a different spell and all his classmates got the best ones first: owls, cats. He got one of the last ones, a raven, the one no one wanted, just like him.

And he was the only one who repeatedly was making feathers, vegetables, while everyone was laughing, making fun of him and whispering about "him being him" again, looking at him with disgust, asking why he was still trying- and the situation was starting to get humiliating. Everyone had already finished. And after so many tries, everyone looking at him with a judgemental look like he was in the middle of the room (just like how happened at the incident, he remembers that really well), Cedric gave up.

Maybe he watched while his teacher did the "familiar will live until their master is alive" spell in each one of the students, making sure that they all were now officially connected. But Cedric didn't had one, so he was the only one who just watched in silence. His teacher went to him, and as always he told Cedric to keep trying later, which made him feel a little better, but not a lot.

He kept trying, trying and trying after school, maybe at night (Hexley Hall boarding school headcanon time). And when he finally did it, the rock turned into a baby bird, and Cedric started crying out of happiness. He was able to make a real crow- and the baby was just in the palm of his hand making little noises and looking at him with a confused look, with not even a thought going through his mind. The baby raven didn't knew a thing but Cedric loved him already, just like the feeling of getting your first dog but this time with the whole stituation of the spell, Cedric being pressured and judged, and now he finally did it.

He immediately knew that this bird would be his best friend. He was a little weird looking, just like a little fluff ball, but Cedric was a little weird too, that was one more thing that they had in common. And he was so proud and loved his new bird so much that he wouldn't mind even if he didn't had feathers. What happened was that in the next day everyone went to class with their new familiars and Cedric was there with his baby bird, all proud of himself. Everyone saw this and some even thought that he got the bird somewhere, that he was pretending the spell worked just so that he wouldn't make a fool out of himself in today's class. But somehow they proved it was true, or the teacher just simply believed in him, the thing was that he finally had his familiar and the spell was casted on him to make his familiar permanently. And since then he carried the bird everywhere.

He gave him the name Wormwood after the herb. Maybe there was a funny situation with a wormwood and the baby bird involved, and that's when Cedric decided his name. But the thing is: they were always together since their childhood. I'm not really giving a deep dive into their relationship right now, so there's no conclusion to this post, but I wanted to share my headcanon. I made a drawing yesterday and their childhood together is in my mind ever since.

When the ambitious Miki and the conformist Gas cross paths, it's pretty much an "unstoppable force VS unmovable object" situation.

Last but not least, a couple of fan favorites! My redesign process was very different for each one: I did a quick sketch of Gas on day one, as soon as I was done with Raf and Sulfus, and I pretty much stuck to it. Meanwhile, I couldn't form a clear thought for Miki until my AFapril comic prompted me to do it! Now, about that creative process:

While Miki's canon designs are significantly different, Gas is pretty straightforward. Even then, I decided to work on unifying their respective color palettes first, and then focus on their redesigns proper.

I went with their Prisma Fly colors as their new main colors. To contrast the orange better, I switched Gas' purple for a washed-out blue, and included black and white for variety's sake. In Miki's case I went with three shades of forest green and included key lime green since it's closer to yellow and pops out nicely; I also included desaturated browns and off-whites to visually frame the key lime better.

Since Miki is characterized as somewhat non-conforming in the comics, I doubled down and updated her parka jacket to something more extreme-sports looking (thank you @haloheadhater for helping me figure that one out!), added thick denim jeans to the mix and the toughest pair of timber boots I could come up with.

Gas is the kind of character that tries to look tough (despite being the least intimidating devil ever), so I added a biker's denim vest to crank the Cool Factor™ to the max. There's little difference between his canon designs, so blending them together was easy enough. I tried to preserve his iconic Emo Frog shirt with a minimalist design, all derived from triangles to keep in line with the devil design philosophy I've been keeping so far.

I wanted to reflect Miki's dragonfly mascot in her overall design, so I gave her wings a peculiar shape. While adult angels may have multiple pairs, Miki's wings are a single pair: I took inspiration from pennant-winged nightjars for her wing design.

Officially, Gas has the smallest wing-to-body ratio of the entire cast. He can still fly just fine, no worries, but he took more naturally to phasing walls and floors around the school to get by. My biggest challenge was his horns and wings, specifically finding the right shade of orange so they would not blend with his ginger hair. I didn't want to use red for his hair, nor blue for his horns/wings like his original designs, so I had to put my eyes to the test there.

Mascot placement once again comes with meaning: Gas' tomato frog may have bright and intimidating colors, but it's actually cute, round and inoffensive; it rests right over his heart to represent his true nature. Miki's green darner dragonfly hangs at the end of her braid: braids are often associated with bravery, wisdom, patience or experience in character design, and dragonflies are renowned for their maneuverability; this way, Miki's core traits are in the end held together by her ability to adjust on the fly.

There it is! the entire main cast of Angel's Friends, redesigned :D I've also been working on the humans and teachers, but it'll be a while before I finish those. For now my attention is almost entirely on my AF rewrite fic. Shameless self-promotion aside, I'm really proud of my script and characters, and I really appreciate it when I get comments/kudos/hits. So far everyone's been really kind and excited and I definitely share on the enthusiasm!

Titania Loadout: Salt Special

So my buddy - @well-seasoned - found their Titania struggling a bit so we sat down and refreshed the build. The idea emerged to start sharing the loadout advice.

So let's start off:

Titania High mobility, great damage, and a very unique playstyle. The Cons, she's not the toughest, needs sustain, and lacks an inherent armour solution.

I've taken two Green shards for extra Corrosive Stacks, two Tauforged Blues for Armour to hit the armour sweet spot between 500 to 600 armour, and a Red Tauforged for Strength. I've tried making Crit work, just doesn't feel worth it for me.

I've stacked Shields and Aviator (plus Boreal's and Aerodynamic) for overall survivability, but a Shield Gating build would probably work better (not my thing), and you can tweak it for more health/armour tanking if that's more your jam.

Arcane Pistoleer's a great pick for Titania since it'll give her Dex Pixia infinite ammo when it procs which synergizes nice with Razorwing Blitz. Arcane Energize is the gold standard for Energy, so if you don't have one, drop Streamline for Fleeting Expertise, and Augur Secrets for Augur Message.

I've Helminth'd in Ophanim for CC & Armour Strip, over Lantern since it feels like a very weak ability, but I also think Terrify & Pillage are solid picks.

Could quite happily swap the aura out for Corrosive Projection for easier armour stripping, Brief Respite for Shield Gating, Combat Discipline for proc'ing Arcane Avenger, or Growing Power.

Dex Pixia

For the Dex Pixia, because they lack access to Arcanes, the build has to be pretty basic, so the principle here is to stack multipliers. Base Damage (Galvanized Shot) Elemental (3 Elementals, adjust per faction) Multishot (Lethal Torrent & Galvanized Diffusion) Faction Mod (Expel) Pistol Elementalist

The logic is that stacking just say, more raw damage or more elemental is additive, but adding these other mods is multiplicative.

Diwata

The Diwata is kind of garbage but I have found use for it by stacking corrosive, status, Shattering Impact, Healing Return, and attack speed to make a nice utility item

Weapons

Titania wants to spend most of her time in the Razorwing mode, so the weapons she uses doesn't matter as much but there are some nice options:

Kitguns, either in the Primary or Secondary, add a means of getting extra power strength and efficiency from Pax Bolt

The Grimoire, with most of the Invocations for more Strength (Vome Invocation), Duration (Ris) or Efficiency (Netra) but skip Xata / Energy Regen since it will be turned off during Razorwing.

Explosive Weapons of all kinds are a nice synergy for Titania - her 1st ability when alt-cast gives status immunity, making her immune to the knockdown.

Rakta, Synoid, or any weapons that can use the Blight or Entropy mods, can be a nice extra source of energy.

Pistols that synergise nicely with Pistoleer - most of them - are also a nice pick, but special mention for the Pyrana Prime.

I've gone with the Kuva Tonkor for a nice explosive option, nice to deal with little crowds or loot rooms and the aforementioned Knockback Immunity. For the secondary, I had the Atomos there for trying it against the H-01, but I think I would actually take the Kitgun for Pax Bolt. Now the Prisma Dual Cleavers are very specifically there because this is Salt's build, and those are their favourite melee weapons.

Companions

When Titania is in her Razorwing, a pet will disappear into some grey area, as will their Sentinel. This makes pets less overall useful to Titania, but I recommend a Vasca Kavat as they make for an excellent 'extra life' if you get taken out.

Focus

I would say Vazarin, Unairu, and Madurai are all solid choices, mainly because Zenurik and Naramon are not. Zenurik's energy regent will get shut off during Razorwing, and the Power Strength is only 20%. Naramon is too melee and finisher focused, and the Diwata is hot garbage.

"drop the mines!" I have always loved Godzilla ever since i was a child (even if my introduction was the 1998 American Godzilla), and Godzilla Minus One did not disappoint. An amazing movie with a full cast who seemed to love what they were creating and I felt it. Drawn on A2 paper, with prisma colour pencils.

And sure, you can send him asks on the askblog ( @ask-prismaknight )! Though it's a bit different than most of the other characters since he doesn't live on Popstar and thus doesn't know much of the cast. And those he does know he is unsure on if they are alive or not (except for Prisma who he firmly believes is dead)

But if you have questions for him about him or regarding his past, he would love to reminisce on things. Especially since he is much older than Prisma and Meta and could give more insight into what it was like working for the GSA.

Been working on more character designs to fill out the extended cast. Here are two more! Prisma is a villainess Billionaire graffiti artist and owner and CEO of CMYK: Energy Drinks. Who can make living paintings. FerrorShade is one of Booker's "Government Heroes", who can morph his body like a fluid, and whose mind has fused with the internet. Both will have full ref sheets eventually... and these may not be the last 2 new OCs I'm working on for Glitch Hunters.

rlly interested in reworking the stf magic system but ill have to finish the series before i staaaart just in case theres more development on it as we delve into the crazy stuff in the latter half of s4… luckily it shouldnt be much longer.

im very intrigued by the idea of different wands depending on sorcerer preference- and also the ability to cast without a wand (like seen when cedric tries to undo cordelias hair potion) having physical effects, and being the reason wands are used despite the title of “sorcerer” implying an ability to channel magic thru the body. its interesting to hear that the wands contain crystals? if i correctly understood what prisma said. id also like to go further then into the differences in magic casting between non-magical and magical creatures, since i find it odd that the fairies use wands as well.

if i wanted to truly go into depth with it i suppose it would require looking at how magic works in all disney princess movies but im… not doing that… im sure i would only find things that disprove each other anyways, and it could just as well be that how magic works in enchancia is different from how it works in the kingdoms the other princesses are in. which makes me wonder if they ALSO pull magic from the mystic isles? or if thats stf/eoa specific. im not wondering if theres canon explanation to any of these questions- just fun things for me to decide in my own clarification + expansion of the everrealm magic system.

of course the real meat of it for me is the actual casting of spells and creation of potions. Needless to say that i pretty much loathe the spoken word (especially simple things like Crystalo! I know its all silly, thats why im so interested in changing it!! As a thought exercise. Crystalo is ridiculous!!!!!) way of magic casting- but its come to be expected, so i come prepared. and they provide some interesting bits to work with as well! such as how waving the wand wrong or not speaking confidently enough can stop your spell from working or even cast a completely different one. Magic feels very alive and temper-mental in stf, like it has a grudge against everyone trying to master it, and Id love to keep that. I think its hilarious. the potionmaking is fine- very typical mixing of ingredients to make a mysteriously always water-viscosity potion. (can you imagine an icky, chunky, unpleasant to drink potion? LOL) but im sure something can be done here too. Perhaps like potionomics? Different brewing speed and temperature effecting how it works.

Id also like to look into how magic books are sorted. This is an extremely minor gripe- but when cedric flips through his books theyre completely random! I would think some organization would be nice. A book on basic application potions, a book on more specified ice focused spells, the sorts… Much to think about beyond this as well. Different crystals having different effects in wand use? Attunement of wands to their users? what kind of spells are possible? what spells are illegal? That sort.
