priority: anhur (part i)

Upon landing on Anhur, the party quickly goes to check out the coordinates the Shadow Broker and Annos had given to them. There, they discover a worn-down shack and the secret cellar beneath, learning that they’re going to need a password to get into the rebel headquarters. After a few confrontations, wherein they learn that quarians are typically viewed as slaves on Anhur, they arrive at a tea shoppe owned by Delta T’Rola, one of their targets. They quickly get the password out of her and, once they do, shoot her dead. One down, three to go.
summary
The session begins with Kate, Vekar, Phos, and Vasir preparing to board the shuttle that will take them to Anhur. Before departing, Phos speaks with Isolde about the upcoming fight she had challenged her to - there is not set time in mind, and Isolde hints that Annos is far more dangerous than Phos thinks. Vasir, meanwhile, says a brief farewell to Muffy, who is sitting next to Kara’s feet; when they warn the cat to behave, Kara assures them they’ll be fine, and they both tell each other keelah se’lai before Vasir goes. Conversely, Kate and Vekar do not talk to anyone and instead go directly into the shuttle, and once Vasir and Phos have boarded, the shuttle departs.
Once they touch down on Anhur, the shuttle pilot, an asari, hands them all communicators and informs them that Annos has given each of them 1500 credits - and Phos realizes that C-Sec had taken back the 25000 credits she had been given by Vasir on the Citadel - before telling them to call her via comm before pickup and flying off. Aster contacts them shortly thereafter: as navigator, he will be advising them on what they need to do and where they need to go, and he explains that he will be doing so with the help of a friend. This friend ends up being Beetle, a salarian who meets the party on the ground and joins them as they begin to move.
The first stop is the coordinates that had been included in the data packet Tris had given the party last session. They lead to an dilapidated, run-down shack that looks like it had been abandoned for quite some time. They go in to check it out and find a small room; inside is a worn wood floor, a carpet on the floor, a table, a chair, and a ratty armchair. Kate notices that there’s a clear path that’s been trodden into the floor that leads under the carpet; Phos eventually lifts the carpet and the party discovers a trapdoor, and the party briefly checks for traps, resulting Phos rescuing Beetle from a corner before descending into the hidden cellar.
The cellar is much more high-tech than the building above, though all of the electronics and screens have been destroyed save for a single datapad that reads the following:
Changing location. Get there fast. To get password, talk to Del.
When Vasir hacks the datapad, they discover a set of coordinates that Aster then presumes leads to the actual rebellion headquarters. While they’re doing this, Phos notes that the room has been cleaned up rather than the sight of a fight and realizes that this happened recently - no more than two days ago. She also notes that the person who did destroy the room was between 1.5 to 1.8 meters in height.
Aster then does a little research into the name Del and finds a single lead: Delta’s Tea Shoppe. The party debates how they are going to approach it and ultimately decides on going through the back door of the shoppe. They then move on out of the building, where Aster tells them he has identified two routes: the backstreets or the main road, laying out the pros and cons for both. The party decides on the backstreets, but as they begin to walk, they are confronted by three rebellion supporters, identified as such by the patch on their shoulders - an artistic rendition of a bird’s wing.
A quick battle later, wherein Beetle decides the human is her ultimate enemy and Vekar oneshots a batarian, the party takes the human hostage and unsuccessfully interrogates him for answers as well as hack into his omni-tool. Phos then decides that they’ve gotten enough use out of him and goes to kill him; Vekar and Kate stop her, and Phos eventually relents. Vekar then knocks the human out and the party drops him into the cellar and closes the door before leaving the shack for good, taking the backstreets to Delta’s Tea Shoppe.
In the backstreets, the party manages to avoid conflict with three batarians, only to run into an Eclipse sister pressuring another two batarians to cough up their protection fees or else. The batarians attempt to flee when the party arrives, as they briefly distract the Eclipse sister, but instead are caught in a Singularity. One of the batarians’ shots clip Vasir’s shoulder, however, and seeing this, the sister invites the party help her kill the batarians. After this is done, the party asks the Eclipse sister a few question and learn that Delta has a sister and pays Eclipse protection fees, slavery is technically illegal but still happens, and that most quarians on Anhur are slaves. The party, once knowing this, decide on Vasir and Phos waiting outside while Vekar, Beetle, and Kate go inside to investigate.
Eventually, they run into a human and her two Eclipse bodyguards in a narrow alleyway. After a brief standoff, the bodyguards point them in the direction of Delta’s shoppe, and as the human bumps past Kate, she drops a pouch onto the ground. When Kate picks it up, she discovers it’s red sand, though the drug smuggler is long gone. Having nothing else to do with it, Kate pockets it, and the party continues to the shoppe, arriving at its back door a few minutes of walking later.
After Beetle unlocks the back door, the party splits up: Phos and Vasir stay outside to guard the door while Kate, Vekar, and Beetle investigate. They don’t find anything of note in the back storage room, however, beyond shelves and shelves of tea. Beetle takes a small pouch of tea for herself as they exit, and the three circle around to the front in hopes of speaking to Delta herself. Upon doing so, the three notice three cameras, which wouldn’t be peculiar except that on is following Delta’s movements around the store exactly. On a hunch, Beetle orders a large amount of tea to cause Delta to go to the back and leave the front unattended, and after she disables the cameras, the three swiftly move to investigate.
Beetle hacks the sales kiosk but doesn’t find anything of note. Kate keeps guard at the entrance to the backroom while Vekar roots behind the counter, and he finds a tablet behind the counter that reads the following:
T’Rola:
Excellent job on the quiet relocation – a clever password, as well, I will say, using your half-sister’s name. You needn’t worry, she will stay safe with us… for now. If you turn on us after all we’ve done for you, that’s the end of her. Don’t disappoint.
- N
Beyond that, however, they do not find anything else and are at the front of the counter when Delta returns. Delta, however, had noticed that her cameras had been disabled and asks them to leave. The party manages to get the name of her half-sister - Zeta - after a prolonged confrontation, and at Aster’s urging and per their directive, Vekar shoots her in the head and kills her.
When Vasir and Phos come to investigate the gunshot, the party quickly cleans the shop out of its tea and exits, ready to move on to the third and final pair of coordinates: the rebellion’s new headquarters.
notable lines + interactions
Beetle [to Phos]: Oh my god, you saved me. I was getting trapped between two walls and they just kept getting closer.
Beetle: Let’s crack this baby open. DM: I thought you were going to make a ‘cold one’ joke and I was going to punch you through the screen. Kate, OOC: Dammit, I missed my chance.
Phos, haltingly: Can you even - drink - tea? Vasir: I can drink things. There’s these things called straws. Phos: Fair. Okay. Beetle, OOC: I’m rolling a perception check on the existence of straws. [pause] It’s a 2. I know they exist. DM: So Beetle, you don’t know what straws are, but you know portable filters, and you’re pretty sure that Vasir is saying some bullshit right now. You don’t know what a straw is. Beetle: Don’t bullshit us, Vasir.
Phos, OOC: I take the datapad with me. DM: Oh - oh, okay. Uh, Phos goes over to you, Vasir, and snatches it out of your hands, and you’re like, ‘okay.’ Unless you want to roll strength to see if you keep holding onto it? Vasir, OOC: No, I’m just going to roll my eyes and let Phos take it.
DM: Vasir, it is your turn. [pause] Jesus Christ, I just remembered, I forgot about shields! Fuck! Vasir, OOC: It’s fine. DM: You guys have shields, too, mother of god. Actually Kate has a barrier, fuck.
Vasir, OOC: Are there any, like, navigational apps or maps on the omni-tool? DM: Google maps. Space Google maps! Beetle, OOC: Nice. Kate, OOC: Google universe! DM: Google galaxy! Kate, OOC: Nice.
Beetle: We have a no-nark policy.
DM: Convince me with your words.
Vekar: Are you happy now? Phos: No. Vekar: Good!
Kate, OOC: [Vekar]’s my new disaster son. Vasir, OOC: Oh, so now you have two of them? Kate, OOC: I have many disaster children, but he’s getting up there now.
Phos: I really don’t like the idea of slavers and slavery. Vasir: Yeah, well, the Reapers didn’t win, so they didn’t wipe out all the bullshit of sentience. Kate: You got a point there. Phos: I like you for that, Vasir.
DM: Okay, okay, before - before you go on, can we just appreciate the fact you’re letting the krogan be your spokesperson? Vekar, OOC: Well, if you let the turian be the spokesperson, he’s going to talk to a wall. Kate, OOC: True.
Vasir: I‘m with the human on this. How about no more shooting?
Phos, OOC: I can kind of read from your tone of voice that we kind of disappointed you in that scene. Kate, OOC: We’re always disappointing, I don’t know what you’re talking about. Vekar, OOC: It’s our special skill. DM: Yeah... yeah. Actually, since you realized that, roll a perception check. Kate, OOC: [laughter] Vasir, OOC: All of us? DM: All of you. [softer] All of you.
Kate: No, we’re not doing lines of red sand. Vasir, OOC: Isn’t Kate the only biotic here? Kate, OOC: ... True.
DM: You find the safe where the money is kept, uh, not - wait, do they have safes? Because this isn’t - this is space future - Kate, OOC: I don’t know, do they? DM: Yeah, no, I don’t think they do.
Kate: I’ll take something mild. Delta: Mild? Okay. DM: And then she proceeds to list twenty different kinds of tea. Delta: What would you like? Kate: ... Uh.
Beetle: This is amazing, it smells great, I want so much of it, what is the largest amount of tea you can sell to me so I can put it into my body.
DM: I was afraid we wouldn’t be able to continue the - the teapocalypse.
Beetle, OOC: I cancel my order for the coffee. DM: You - you don’t have coffee! You have tea! Beetle, OOC: ... Crap.
DM: This is not how I expected you to find this, but it’s cool. Though that seems to be a running theme, actually.
Vekar, OOC: Are the cameras still disabled? DM: Yes, they are. Vekar, OOC: Okay, how about this - Vekar kicks in the door and uses Cryo Blast!
DM: Okay, well, now Delta’s dead. What do you do? Kate, OOC: First things first: I flip the ‘open’ sign to ‘close’.

Now that the party has gotten the password and eliminated Delta, supposedly one of the leaders of the rebellion, the party moves on to the rebel headquarters. There they encounter Zeta, Delta’s half-sister, and convince her to help them eliminate the rebel leaders. Zeta eliminates Quincy handily with the party’s help, and after and a tough fight with Kany and Nyeck, the party finds themselves ultimately successful, though Zeta had died in the conflict. They return to the Apricity soon after.
summary
With Delta eliminated and the password in hand, and once Phos has hidden Delta’s body, the party moves on to the rebellion’s headquarters. Aster had plotted a route for them and informs them that there is a front and back to the headquarters building, though he doesn’t know which would be better. The party decides to enter through the front after lively debate; in trying to do so, Beetle tries to pass tea as drugs in order to get inside, which fails, and after Vekar gives the password Zeta, the five of them enter the headquarters
Inside the headquarters, the party finds themselves in a wide hallway. At the end of the hallway is the back entrance to the headquarters, with two guards standing there; inside is deserted, oddly enough, with six doors spaced along the walls, three on each side, and a staircase leading down. The party sets to work to open the doors, all of which are locked; inside some of these rooms, Kate and Phos find credit chits valued at 1000, and Vekar finds some cryo rounds in a safe. Vasir and Beetle hack a disabled FENRIS mech but promptly forget to tell it to heel.
When they enter the last room, the party encounters Zeta T’Pavis, Delta’s half-sister. Phos, with Beetle’s help, convinces Zeta that one of the rebellion’s leaders, Quincy Lorraine, was responsible for the death of her sister and, seeking vengeance, Zeta ropes the party into helping her eliminate him. She leads them down the stairs, where she explains that while Nyeck had been cleaning up the Reaper creatures on Anhur, they had actually been keeping them here in cages, for use whenever they saw fit. The party learns that there are husks, marauders, and cannibals around, but Zeta bypasses them all and heads straight for a room down a hallway, instructing the party to intervene at the signal.
The signal ends up being a gunshot, and when the party bursts into the room, they find Zeta grappling Quincy on the ground. Upon request, Phos walks over and stabs Quincy with her cleaver, causing enough damage that he would eventually die, but slowly. Kate, in a moment of compassion, kills him quickly, much to Zeta’s displeasure, and from there, the party convinces Zeta to help them eliminate the rest of the rebellion’s leaders. Zeta warns them that this will be difficult, given that Kany and Nyeck are almost always together, but eventually comes up with an idea.
The plan is thus: Zeta will distract either Kany or Nyeck, separating them from each other and sending them towards a trap the party will have laid out. From there, the party can eliminate that person before proceeding to Zeta’s location to help her. Zeta lets the party choose who they want to target first after providing some information on who Kany and Nyeck are; the party decides to eliminate Kany first, and after a few fail-safes are put into place, Zeta moves off and the party heads over to the husks’ cage, with Beetle placing a grenade on the door in order to blow it open on Zeta’s signal and the rest of the party moving to hide in the observation deck nearby.
The signal comes through Vasir’s omni-tool, and Beetle triggers the grenade by shooting it. A few moments later, Kany makes her appearance by biotically charging in and then dropping a nova at the escaping husks, killing all of them instantly; however, she notices the party hiding and Kate takes the opportunity to biotically charge Kany, knocking her briefly off-balance before the battle begins. Kany is very powerful and wreaks a lot of havoc before the party successfully takes her down, and soon after, the party rushes to where they think Zeta is, knowing that she is alone with Nyeck.
The party arrives in time to see Nyeck kill Zeta, and then Beetle throws a grenade and Kate sets it off by shooting it; the party avoids damage by closing the door to the room where the grenade explodes. Moments later, however, it becomes apparent that Nyeck is no easy target, either, almost killing Vekar before Vekar freezes them and Beetle takes a killshot with the sniper rifle she’d foisted from a human earlier that day. Once Nyeck has died, and once Beetle has named her new sniper rifle the Cold Shoulder, the party collects several documents under Aster’s direction before booking it back to the LZ, calling for pickup and being brought back to the Apricity soon after.
notable lines + interactions
DM: So last time... last time on this campaign, I forget the name, sunlight and stardust, y’all broke into a tea shoppe and killed a dude. Actually a lady. So. GG.
Phos, OOC: Ideally, we find an incinerator or something so we can burn the body and everything else. DM: Maybe roll a twenty on perception next time.
Beetle, OOC: Beetles takes a free action to dab. DM: You - you don’t need a free action to do that, you’re not in combat. Beetle, OOC: It’s still a free action. DM: Uh, okay, you, uh, you dab. It - it looks like a dab. [pause] Yay.
Vasir, OOC: Your dab did not destroy my internet, I’m offended you think it’s that bad. Beetle, OOC: Okay, that’s fair, but it’s still pretty powerful. Vasir, OOC: You didn’t roll for it. It was a free action, you said so. Beetle, OOC: Goddammit, you’re right. I’ll roll for it next time.
DM: As you get closer, Aster says - what does he say. [pause] This is not the right word document. [pause] This is also not the right word document. Beetle, OOC: I believe in you.
DM: Phos intimidated some people so now you don’t have to fight. Congratulations.
DM: [Beetle and Kate] were playing rock-paper-scissors to see who was the scary one. But you both lost, like, you both played scissors too many times. Beetle, OOC: Yeah, we kept tying, and then we gave up. It was really sad. DM: It was really sad.
DM: We are not making this The Adventure Zone!
DM: Okay, it’s not from The Adventure Zone, it’s actually from outofcontextdnd. I just forgot in the heat in the moment.
Beetle, OOC: We have two lines of attack: one in the back posing, and one in the front attacking while everyone is staring at the ones who are posing. Party: [laughter] DM: Wouldn’t that be the other way around? Like - like posing in the front, attack from the back? Beetle, OOC: Look, this is tactics, okay.
DM: Need I remind you of the first rule of D&D? I’ve had to every session so far.
Vasir: Let’s see if the front door and the password work before we use the violence, how about? Phos: Hmm. Beetle: This sounds fake, but... okay. Vasir: We can’t start attacking the people we’re supposedly with. Beetle: Supposedly we can’t start attacking people. Phos: Supposedly we didn’t just kill one of their leaders and steal tea from her shoppe, but sure. Vasir: Is the concept of sneaking that hard for you all?
Phos, OOC: Right before Phos opens the door, she uses fortification - DM: Shh shh shh. Shh. Shhh. Shhhhh. Phos, OOC and sheepish: Sorry.
Phos, OOC: [Phos]’s not dealing with this tall-ass turian. Vekar: Fine. Next time I’ll let you get shot. DM, whispering: Oh snap.
DM: So how was everyone’s day today? Vasir, OOC: I actually got up as a reasonable time. Went out and did stuff. DM: Hell yeah. Productivity. Phos, OOC: I played games. Thanks to [Vekar’s player], the savior. DM: Hell yeah. All hail.
DM: So Beetle... Beetle. Oh, Beetle. There’s no corners for you to get lost in. But there is a wall, and you walk towards this wall. And you realize, suddenly, that all you can see is this wall, and that you are hopelessly lost. And everywhere you look, all you can see is wall. And you are just lost in this single wall. Beetle: This room only has one wall and I can’t leave! DM: Exactly. You are a two-dimensional thing now. There’s no escape.
Beetle: Holy shit, Phos! You did it! You rescued me again! Again!
Phos, OOC: I’m wearing armor! DM: You didn’t get any damage, you just looked stupid. Phos, OOC: Oh, god. Vekar, OOC: Psychological damage.
Beetle, OOC: It took me two years but I did it! DM: So you unlock that door. GG. Plus one experience. There’re four other doors remaining.
Beetle: The wall got you, too? Vekar, having just walked into a wall: Sadly, it did. It’s a trickster wall, it is.
DM: You’re really fascinated with the desk, I guess. It’s a really nice desk. Beetle: I like this. I’m into it.
Beetle: Can we take this desk apart and take it with us? [quietly] I really like it.
Beetle: You know, Vasir, you really loosened the lid on this good, good - mech. DM: Nice save. I knew what you wanted to say there. Beetle, OOC: Yeah, Beetle didn’t want to force gender on it.
DM: So Beetle and Vasir, you manage to open your doors, but there’s nothing in the rooms they open to. They’re trash and trashed. Beetle, OOC: [posts this in discord]
Tumblr media
Beetle, OOC, unnecessarily: It’s trash. DM, exasperated: Thanks, McElroys. Where would we be without you?
DM: And roll perception for me. Vekar, OOC and desperate: No...
Beetle: We’re invested in helping you avenge Delta. Phos: Yes, she was very kind to us. Zeta: Yes, yes, she’s - she was always like that. DM: You guys are terrible people, you know that? Party: [laughter] Vekar, OOC: We try our best. Phos, OOC: The power of a nat twenty, baby!
Zeta: [kills two guards very quickly] Beetle: Good execution! DM: She does not respond to that. Beetle, OOC: But it was a good execution! DM: ... Ahaha, hahaha, haha, ha, anyway.
Phos, OOC: [leaves to make themselves hot chocolate] Beetle, OOC: I’m just imagining Phos going back to the shop to make herself a nice cup of coke-co. DM: Coke-co? Beetle, OOC: Yeah. DM: Goddammit.
DM: Yeah, Kate’s just watching you guys hack this, like - Vasir, OOC: She’s thinking, “Ha ha, nerds.” DM: And she’s like, “Godspeed.”
Phos: Are we playing ‘hide and husks’?
DM: I don’t want to make you roll stealth checks, but at this rate...
Someone’s mic: [picks up the sound of a car horn] DM: Beeeeep.
DM: Yeah, it’s a miracle [Beetle] hit at all. And by miracle, I mean a nineteen.
Phos: Which door do we think there would be the boss of this place? Vekar: Probably the biggest door. DM: This isn’t a Zelda title.
Beetle, OOC: ‘Oral’ could mean her mouth. DM: I said ‘aural’, A, U! Fuck off!
Beetle, OOC: Can I roll to have Beetle stand real casual? DM: You don’t have to roll that, she can just do it, she - Beetle, OOC: Like, I’m not with these nerds, like, chillin’. DM: Okay, yeah, you can - you can just stand there, leaning against the wall, arms crossed, looking really cool. Beetle, OOC: Nice. I’m into that.
DM: And then you just hear some tussling - tussling? Tussling? Wrassling? Wrestling? Just fighting noises, basically. Vekar, OOC: Fisticuffs. DM: Yeah, you hear fisticuff noises, that’s it.
Vasir, OOC: Roll to find a chair, [DM]! Beetle, OOC: Rolls a crit fail.
DM: Phous? Phos, OOC: Phohs. Beetle, OOC: Phoosaphone. DM: Phoosaphone. [quietly] Goddammit.
Phos, OOC: How bad does Nyeck look? DM: He’s fine. [incredulous silence] Phos, OOC: He’s not even bleeding? DM: Nope. Vekar, OOC: Shields, man. Vasir, OOC: That armor class. Phos, OOC: Shit.
DM: [Nyeck] just roll out of the way. They’re really not feeling this. Beetle, OOC: They’re just McCree rolling out of way. DM: They are! They are indeed. They’re also reloading and - just kidding, they’re not doing that.
DM: You’re lucky [Nyeck] didn’t hit you twice. This would’ve killed you. Vekar, OOC: Thanks, that’s so kind of them.
DM: Top of the order. Vekar, you’re up. Vekar, OOC: Alright. Well, shit.
DM: And that’s the end of your turn. Let’s see if you wombo-combo.
DM: You just did 26 damage. Party: Party: [collectively loses their shit] DM: This person is dead. This person is very, very dead.
DM: This sniper rifle is your new best friend. What do you name it? Beetle, OOC: Uh. Phos, OOC: Headshot. Vekar, OOC: The Cold Shoulder. Everyone: [loses their shit]

priority: eden prime (part i)
prev | start | next
Absent: Kate’s player, Vekar’s player
The party arrives on Eden Prime to find that they, through Annos, had been summoned by Liara T’Soni. She explains that the temple she is studying is undergoing some kind of mysterious phenomenon that prevents communication and, by all regards, escape. She sends the party in in hopes that they will be able to find out what is going on. Inside, the party discovers that prothean artifacts are causing time to loop over and over again; with Liara’s student, Falavi, the party races against the clock to stop the loops and save everyone - and themselves.
operation: all that glitters An art enthusiast had entered the temple prior to the phenomenon preventing entry and escape; the party discovers that this person was one of Beetle’s partners, an asari named Holosmea Pratora. Ze was alive but unconscious when the party found zem, and it’s clear zir presence worries Beetle immensely.
summary
The party lands on Edem Prime alongside Aster, from whom they learn that the Apricity is elsewhere and that he had joined them in order to act as their remote help, essentially. During this time, they walk to the campsite at the foot of an ancient prothean temple, where they discover the entire operation is being run by Liara T’Soni, now a professor at a prestigious university on Thessia. She explains that she and her coworkers have discovered a way to get into the temple, but haven’t been able to reach anyone inside, including the original group of researchers that had sparked the Broker’s interest in the first place. She then asks the party to locate the missing scientists inside the temple and to find her student, hopefully figuring out what was going on inside the temple in the process.
At the last minute, Liara mentions that an art enthusiast was also inside the temple - a civilian. She points them to a human around the campsite to ask for information, informing them to find her when they are ready to get started.
The human ends up being Sihhum Nazari, one of Beetle’s partners. The party learns from her that the art enthusiast is an asari named Holosmea Pratora, the other of Beetle’s partners, and that ze had received some kind of strange inspiration from something on Thessia that compelled zem to come to Eden Prime. Sihhum had followed zem out of concern, only to have lost track of zem when they entered the temple, and she asks the party to find her and bring her back safely, warning them to be careful.
The party then returns to Liara, who is waiting with Aster. She guides them inside using a biotic barrier around them, and when the party enters, they find themselves in a small, square room that is clearly ancient and worn with time. They quickly discover that the entire place is like a maze and work their way through the various rooms, discovering several of the scientists Liara had mentioned as well as Holosmea, who ends up being unconscious but otherwise alive. The party dumps everyone they find in one room for some kind of safekeeping as they proceed forward, though they eventually find Falavi, Liara’s student, shot in the back of the head.
As they return to the room where everyone else is being kept, fearing for their safety, they hear a distant explosion. The temple rumbles ominously around them, and the party arrives in the room just in time for the stones to collapse upon then, killing everyone instantly. The next thing the party knows, they’re opening their eyes again, and they are back at the temple’s entrance. A quick check reveals that everything is as if they had just entered; essentially, time had just looped. This time, the party quickly finds Falavi and discovers that she’s alive; she leads them to a room containing a prothean artifact, but upon arrival, it explodes, killing them instantly. Time loops again, the party manages to get Falavi to the artifact in time to prevent it from exploding.
While Falavi is subduing the artifact, however, the party fights a party of raiders, who have the white wing patch on their white shoulders - the same as the rebels on Anhur. Though they manage to defeat them, setting fire to the room in the process, Falavi reveals that they must question the raiders to figure out where a second prothean artifact is. After a drawn-out interrogation, the party manages to get directions to the second artifact, and they set off to find it soon thereafter. Along the way, they fight off two more raiders, and can only hope they reach the second artifact in time before the fire spreads to the from where they are keeping everyone else.
notable lines + interactions
DM: I almost want to see what happens when I leave you alone in the shuttle for five minutes, but I’m just gonna say you get to Eden Prime right away - Phos, OOC: Damn. Beetle, OOC: We crash the shuttle. Vasir, OOC: Well, I mean, if you want to force us to talk to people more, that’s your perogative. DM: I honestly don’t give a shit - Phos, OOC: We never finished our nice, little tea party! DM, sighing: You can deal with that later.
DM: But you’re pretty sure it wasn’t like this, because it’s very, very quiet, in a way that makes you, like, it’s - it’s just not right, like if you had hairs on the back of your neck, they would be rising. Phos, OOC: Get the tingle-tangles. Tingly-tingly feels.
DM: And as you approach, you see one of the asari scientists wave security away and kind of drop her datapad before making her way over to you. Phos, OOC: That is not how you handle technology. DM: It’s a datapad, you can do whatever you want with that.
Aster: This is Doctor Liara T’Soni. Doctor, in order, this is Phos, Vasir’Rama, Vekar, Kate, and... Beetle. DM: Because he was trying to remember your name and couldn’t remember what it was.
Vasir: Given this is Eden Prime, I’m honestly expecting things to go wrong. Liara: Yes, that’s - that’s fair. Phos, OOC: Phos elbows Vasir for that, like, “no, no, don’t say that!” Beetle, OOC: It’s never puppy planet or anything, it’s always Eden Prime, and the Citadel.
Beetle: So our only options are to find a way out or be entombed forever. Cool! Liara: Presumably. Vasir: Reminds me of some bad earth movies. Beetle: I can’t wait to be found in five hundred years.
Vasir, OOC: Vasir gives Phos a glance, like, ‘I told you so,’ about things going wrong on Eden Prime. Beetle, OOC: [laughter] Phos, OOC: Well, it’s not bad to stay optimistic.
Phos, OOC: Phos is kind of staring at Beetle - like, you - this was not offered to be as information at our tea party! DM: Phos is like, “You didn’t give me the dirt! We didn’t gossip about this! The fuck’s wrong with you!” Phos, OOC: I told you about how I strangled a - a person and you didn’t tell me you had partners? DM: Minus ten friendship points.
Phos, OOC: Well, if Phos had one, this would be a situation where she’s rubbing the bridge of her nose, like, “Okay, this got a lot more complicated all of a sudden.” Beetle, OOC: Mood.
Beetle: Should we have a designated body room? DM: Uh - yeah, Vekar’s down for that, but Kate looks vaguely disgusted. Beetle, OOC: She’s probably thinking, like, “You could’ve phrased that better.” DM: That’s exactly what she’s thinking, yeah.
Beetle: This is going to be weird, but we should put [Holosmea] in the... body room? Phos: I’ll - I’ll carry zem, okay. Beetle: Feels weird to put my partner in a body room, now that I’m thinking about it. Could’ve picked a better term for that.
Beetle, OOC: Sweet! No physics-defying architecture here.
Phos, OOC: I should draw this frickin’ maze to get a look at it. DM: I drew this frickin’ maze.
Vekar: Should we take them back to the body room? Beetle, OOC: [laughter] Phos: Yeah, that’s probably a good idea - DM: Kate’s just, like, distastefully like, “Really?” Just wrinkling her nose. Beetle, OOC: Beetle just looks at them and is like - Beetle: Hm, I don’t think he makes the cut for the body room. Phos: There’s no time for discrimination, Beetle.
DM: You’re two straights from the entrance, basically. [quieter] Two straights. Heh. Vasir, OOC: [disbelieving laughter] Beetle, OOC: Oh, wow, so that’s the two people that we found: the two straights. DM: Goddammit.
DM: It is very, very likely that I’m saying these directions wrong, because I’m terrible with my right and left, so I apologize if I mess it up. Vasir, OOC: As long as you’re referring to your image - DM, laughing: I am - Vasir, OOC: At least you won’t get lost. DM: You overestimate my directional skills.
Beetle, after stealing Falavi’s ID card: My ID now.
Beetle: Now that I’ve thought about it. Irrational thought process. [pause] Possibly not the best idea to leave everyone in one room together. DM: [laughs] Beetle: I’m not moving those bodies. Kate: Isn’t one of them your partner, though? Beetle: Um... yeah, alright. I’ll move zem.
Beetle, OOC: Well, wait. Beetle has like... tape and wire. Can we make, like, a harness? Can we make a partner harness? DM: I don’t know what to make you roll for that. Hm. Phos, OOC: Maybe something like - DM: No, no, wait, I’ve got it. If you really want to do this, roll... mechanical. And you’re going to have to roll really, really high.
DM: [. . .] and all of you are crushed immediately and are dead. Beetle, instantly and OOC: Cool beans. Finally. Death’s taking the initiative this time.
Vasir: It’s like everything’s reset. But I don’t know how it could do that. Beetle: I have no idea, but my partner’s still alive, so I’m peachy keen. Vasir: Yeah, but... how could this happen?
DM, reading off of her phone: “There’s a flash flood warning in this area.” Uh-oh, that’s bad. Vasir, OOC: Roll for survival. DM: Yeah, exactly. I mean, I’m fine, because I’m on a hill but - it’d be interesting if the power went out, though. Anyway.
DM: What did you call this? A baby harness? Vasir, OOC: A partner harness. Beetle, OOC: [posts this in discord]
Tumblr media
DM: Why did you have to bring The Final Pam in here?
DM: And so you build this - partner harness for - who is it for? Phos? Okay, so Phos, write this down in your inventory, you have a partner harness now. Phos, OOC: Oh, god. Vasir and Beetle, OOC: [slowly but surely losing their shit]
DM: [fucks up reading the map she drew for the fourth time] DM: I’m sorry. My directions are terrible. I warned you this might happen.
Beetle, OOC: Hey, if we die, we can just try again.
DM: Okay, so let’s say you grab Falavi and both human scientists, and you just - [starts breaking down laughing] bring all of them back to the body room? Vasir, laughing and OOC: Yeah.
DM: Eh. Vekar would probably try to do some healing, right? Vasir, OOC: Probably. DM: Probably.
DM: I feel like Kate would charge. I think that’s something she would do. Vasir, OOC: Probably. DM: Probably.
DM: Let me roll for Falavi. [pause, wherein DM rolls a crit fail] Ehh. I’ll give her advantage. [pause] Okay, well. Phos, OOC: What? DM: Despite giving Falavi advantage, she got a 3. Vasir, OOC: She got shot in the head, you can cut her some slack. DM: Yeah - wait, no, she wasn’t shot in the head, actually. Beetle, OOC: Yeah, she was shot in the back. DM: No, actually, she hasn’t been shot at all. Beetle, OOC: Ooooh.
DM: Beetle, you strain your... aural canals, with A-U, and - Beetle, OOC: My ear holes. DM, tiredly: Your ear holes.
Beetle, OOC: Who’s ready for baby harness part two?
Phos, OOC: I put [Falavi] down. Not, like, dumping her or anything, just putting her down. DM: Yeah, okay, you put her down, and she punches you in the shoulder. It doesn’t hurt, but, you know, the intent is there.
Falavi: I’m going to - I’m going to be in that room, please don’t blow me up. Beetle, with fake cheer: Don’t worry, you can trust me.
DM: I mean, we’ll probably not follow [the manual] since that seems to be the M.O., but anyway.
DM: Damage from a pistol is 2d4. Beetle, OOC: I got a 9. DM, awed and frightened: How did you get a 9 from 2d4? Beetle, OOC: Oh, crap.
DM: So Vekar takes out his trusty assault rifle, and... rolls a 9.
Beetle, OOC: I pray that they roll a 1. Vasir, OOC: Praying to the dice gods? Beetle, OOC: Hear me, dice gods! DM: Tough luck, two of them rolled 20. Vasir, OOC: How do they decide who goes first? Do they play rock-paper-scissors? DM: No, you take the higher dex score. Vasir, OOC: Okay, I was just making a bad joke, but that’s fair. Beetle, OOC: They do an intense gymnastics competition to see who goes first. DM: They’re just like, “Hold on, hold on, we’ve gotta do something.” Phos, OOC: One of them does the sickest backflip
DM: Oh, I forgot to roll for one person: dear, sweet Falavi. Party: [startled laughter] Vasir, OOC: Yeah.
DM: And that’s Vekar’s turn. Now it’s the asari biotic’s turn. Wait, it’s not the asari biotic’s turn, it’s Vekar’s turn. Wait, Vekar just went, it’s not his turn, now it’s Vasir’s turn. Beetle, OOC: This is incredible.
DM: I forgot about the fucking fire!
DM: I guess in real life this would kill her? But this is D&D so it doesn’t kill her. Vasir, OOC: Shields? DM: Yeah, something like that. So you shoot her in the head, but it mostly hits her shields, and that’s [Vekar’s player]. Party: [Vekar’s player]!
DM: And he takes a shot at [Phos], because he’s determined to fight you to the death or whatever... but he takes a shot and it just bounces off your armor. You don’t take any damage.
DM: Do you do anything else? Vasir, OOC: Yeah, I think I’m going to move over to Falavi, give her some cover. DM: You’re a quarian and you’re going to cover her with your body. Okay! Vasir, OOC: Give her covering fire, I don’t know.
DM: So she and Kate are just parrying back and forth with their biotics and omni-blades and stuff. It actually looks really cool, but no one’s winning, so it’s not as cool as it could be.
Beetle, OOC: Huh! That’s a 9. Beetle’s selling her Cold Shoulder.
Phos, OOC: Wait. I’m sorry, I gazed into eternity for one second, what did she say?
Beetle, OOC and also in the middle of a fight: Okay. Beetle’s gonna go loot a body. Phos, OOC: Beetle, no!
Phos: Beetle, please. Beetle, looting a body: This is important work! [OOC] And I rolled a 19. DM: So you - pick up - oh, Christ.
Beetle, OOC: I’m going to move towards the salarian infiltrator because I don’t think Beetle’s been hit yet, and she’s young and full of pep.
Beetle: It’s cool. I’ve got medi-gel. DM: You don’t have medi-gel. Vekar does, though. Beetle, OOC: Oh, I know, I just wanted to reassure [Phos]. It’s the placebo effect. DM: Of course.
Vasir, OOC: I got a 5. DM, after hemming and hawing for a good five seconds: I’ll give it to you. roll 1d8 - actually - ehhhh. Yeah, yeah, go for it. 1d8. Vasir, OOC: Okay. If you’re sure. DM: I’m not. Let’s go for it.
DM: I should really keep track of what’s going on. I am keeping track of what’s going on. I should keep better track of what’s going on. Vasir, OOC: That felt very Bill Wurtz, [DM].
DM: Okay, so you’re, like, point-blank and - do you say something cool while you do this, because that seems to be something you do often enough now. Beetle, singing: Let’s set this world on fire, we’re gonna burn brighter - DM: So you’re singing this while you shoot him. Beetle, OOC: It’s for the ultimate last-moment compilation reel. DM: Okay, so you shoot him, and he is dead, and it’s very exciting. Beete, OOC: Beetle looks at her sniper rifle and is like, “Maybe I won’t sell you. Keep you on your toes a little.” DM: Goddammit.
DM: The human is going to run. And, in fact, he does.
Beetle: You may not believe her, but you can believe me when I say that I’m going to kill you. Beetle, OOC: And then I roll to find out. [pause] I rolled a 3. DM: Haha... oof.
DM: Oh, I have to format it. Disgusting. Beetle, OOC: Horrible. DM: Terrible.
DM: I don’t think gravity works like that. Uh. How does Singularity work? I don’t think it draws in air, does it? It bends gravity, and it makes it zero-grav, but that doesn’t necessarily mean there’s an absence of air. Mmm... no, it doesn’t, because it only bends gravity waves.
Vasir, OOC, singing: We didn’t start the fire, except I did. Phos, OOC: Beetle did.
DM: Kate charges in. Vasir, OOC: Literally. DM: Yeah. Vasir, OOC: More so than Magnus. DM: Definitely.
DM: And it’s now the soldier’s turn...? Yes. Beetle, OOC: Oh, damn, Soldier: 76. Vasir, OOC: What’s up! DM: Goddammit.
Beetle, OOC: Beetle goes to take a shot at the salarian with her pistol, I guess. DM: Okay! Get some variety in there. Beetle, OOC: Yeah, don’t want to become too dependent on one weapon. Vasir, OOC, singsong: Variety is the spice of life.
DM: Hmm. Let me think about that for a bit. Beetle, OOC: Let’s marinate on that for a second. DM, instantly: Why did you say that. Party: [laughter] Vasir, OOC: Cooking! Beetle’s cooking show!
DM: And the combat drone goes to attack Kate - wow. That’s a very sad roll. Party, somehow collectively: Aww. DM: It’s not a 1, before you ask. [pause] It’s a 2.
Beetle: It’s fine, there’re a lot of cooks in this kitchen. Kate: You’re not the one who got shot! Beetle, singsong: It’s fine.
DM: The combat drone goes to attack Kate! Huzzah! Go, little combat drone! That... is not enough, but so close!
Beetle, OOC: Have we considered that this is a mistake parade from all sides?
Phos, OOC: [puts this in discord]
Tumblr media
Phos, OOC: The krogan soldier right now.
DM: So you manage to hack this thing. It is now fighting for you! How cute. Do you name your new combat drone? Beetle, OOC: Um... I’m gonna name it Little Beetle.
Vasir, OOC, in discord: vasir, internally: who the fuck names a combat drone Phos, OOC, in discord: Phos, internally; how are we gonna know which is which Vekar, OOC, in discord: at least try not to forget about lil beetle Vasir, OOC, in discord: YEAH
Phos, OOC: Okay, where is the krogey-rogey located?
Phos, OOC: How far is the krogan? DM: Are you going to charge him? Phos, OOC: No. DM: Is that a yes? Phos, OOC: No. How far is he? DM: Like two-and-a-half meters. Phos, OOC: Okay. I’m gonna go up and stab him.
DM: The combat drone’s turn! Party, including DM: Yay! Beetle: I believe in you, Little Beetle! I believe in you! DM: Oh shit, good choice!
DM: I am literally going to die. This combat drone shocks this krogan for 2 damage, and the krogan just drops down, dead. Party: [collectively loses their shit] Beetle, OOC: Beetle runs over to it and pets it. “I love you.” And then goes to rip out its organs. Beetle: It’s better that it dies like this, loving me, than to go back to its original programming. Phos, OOC: Just fucking - jam your hand to rip out its programs? Vasir, OOC: Drones don’t have organs, they’re not organic - Phos, OOC: Just stabs into the metal and pulls out cords, what? Beetle, OOC: Just opens a panel and rips out cords. DM: Okay, I guess you just killed this thing, which is terrible. You monster.
Beetle, OOC: Beetle puts the cords in her pocket. DM: Okay, you - you put the cords in your pocket? Beetle, OOC: Yeah. DM: You’re carrying your dismembered child in your pocket? Party: [loses their shit] Beetle, OOC: Beetle’s just carrying it to remember it by. DM: That’s terrible. Also the room is on fire.

interlude ii: top gun (part i)
prev | start | next
Having successfully completed their mission on Anhur, the party goes through a quick debrief before dispersing throughout the ship. Conversations with several members of the crew reveal different tidbits of each player character’s backstory, and eventually, the party learns what their next directive is: find researchers and scientists who have gone suspiciously silent for a few days. Their destination? Eden Prime.
summary
The party arrives back on the ship to find everyone gathered in the lowest deck, watching them, though Annos quickly gestures the party over and brings them to his office, where they have a short debriefing. Annos approves of how they killed Delta and tricked Zeta, as well as how the party performed on the mission overall, and tells them that while they have another directive, they have time before it begins. Then he sends them off to go speak with Elaye, and the party leaves his office.
Elaye ends up being not only a pilot but also a smuggler; the party is able to buy and sell armaments and supplies from her. Her stock is as follows:
RANGED WEAPONS MODS Combat Optics – increase stability – +2 to attack rolls – 100 credits High Caliber Barrels – +2 damage, with 25% chance of overheating – 400 credits Kinetic Coils – +2 damage and accuracy, takes two mod slots – 2000 credits Precision Scope – +4 to attack rolls, sniper rifle only – 1000 credits Thermal Scope – eliminates penalty when shooting through smoke or in the dark – 1500 credits Silencer – shots are silent and invisible – 1000 credits
MELEE WEAPONS MODS Feather Core – lowers melee weapon weight, +3 to melee parry – 300 credits Polonium Edge – -3 damage but +6 to attack rolls, takes two mod slots – 3000 credits Vicious Blade – +1 damage – 200 credits
After perusing, with Phos making some purchases and Beetle selling her two kilograms of tea, the party, save Kate, descends to the second deck together. It’s here that they meet Irène, a krogan who has lived for so long that the crew affectionately calls her a matriarch. Phos in particular takes an interest and talks to Irène for some time, while Vasir peels off to go find something to eat. Eventually, Phos and Vekar go over to the medbay, with Vasir remaining in the galley while Beetle continues down to the lowest deck to talk to Telissa, the shuttle pilot.
During the conversation with Telissa, Beetle learns that the pilot originally hailed from Thessia before being discharged for a reason that she did not reveal. She also learned that Telissa flew an asari fighter during the Battle of the Citadel, and Beetle revealed that the Shadow Broker picked her up after following a few of the jobs Beetle had pulled off, though she later left after she found a beautiful sculpture of a potato. After, Beetle bids farewell and ascends up the ship.
Meanwhile, Phos and Vekar arrive at the medbay to find Suella and Rela already ready to treat them. Vekar’s wounds are minor and don’t require much more than medi-gel; Suella must pick out individual BBs from Phos’s skin, however, which is very painful for all parties involved due to the krogan screaming bloody murder. Vekar quietly refills his medi-gel and retires to the crew’s quarters to sleep.
During this time, Vasir talks briefly with Advika and Fawkes before going to go to Annos in his office. There, they learn that they are going to Eden Prime to investigate reports of missing researchers and scientists. Phos soon takes their place after Vasir takes their leave, their procedure in the medbay complete, and when she asks about slavers, Annos gladly gives her information and promises that he’ll include her in operations if slavers are involved.
Beetle then invites Phos to drink tea together, and the two of them sit with Irène. There, they learn that Irène does know of Urdnot Wrex and Urdnot Grunt and in fact knows of Phos as well - if only because she and Grunt both passed their Rite of Passage by killing a thresher maw. Beetle also briefly explains what her previous time on the Apricity had been like, where she reveals that she and Annos go back quite a bit, though she doesn’t know much about the Shadow Broker themselves.
Vasir descends to the engineering deck in search of Muffy, briefly stopping to say hello to Telissa, who informs them about the location of their cat. They find Muffy rolling around on the ground in front of the Chens, basking in the attention, and accidentally open a conversation about where they found Muffy: a derelict lab. Though they evaded the question of why they were there in the first place, it didn’t really matter, as the Chens then began plotting how to get a ship cat without Annos knowing. After a brief talk with Kara, Vasir stays a bit to watch the Chens chatter.
notable lines + interactions
DM: And that is the end of Priority: Anhur, good job. You completed that very differently from what I was expecting.
Beetle, OOC: Beetle raises a hand for a high-five from Annos. DM: Oh, okay, uh - Annos ignores you, but Aster right next to him just kind of shrugs and high-fives you.
Annos: Planning to stick around this time, Beetle? Beetle: Maybe, yeah. Annos: Hm. I guess that’s all I can ask for. Beetle: I make no promises.
Beetle, OOC: Beetle looks fucking delighted at the prospect of some wacky story involving hacking into Annos’s room. DM: Aster sees how delighted you look and makes a little ‘tell you later’ signal, just like ‘hit me up’ later.
Vekar: Hey, shouldn’t we also get paid? Elaye: That’s not - that’s not something I would know.
Beetle: That’s a secret between me and myself.
DM: I’m literally looking up how much tea can you make from one kilogram of tea. Vasir, OOC: [DM], you don’t have to - DM: Six fluid ounces. [pause] This is not - this is not in metric, excuse me. So one cup of tea is six fluid ounces. Alright, how many fluid ounces in a kilo? Vekar, OOC: Really in-depth just to sell some tea. DM: Listen. I do what I have to do. Beetle, OOC: The real math in this campaign is figuring out tea. DM: Okay, so in one kilo, there’s thirty-five ounces, so that means around six cups of tea, which means if you do the math... Hang on. Um... Shit.
Beetle: Fine, take your tea money and go. Wait - fine, I’ll take my tea money and go.
Beetle, OOC: Secretly, in the depths of Beetle’s mind, she has resolved to swindle [Elaye] at some point. DM: If you roll high enough persuasion, maybe you can do it someday. Beetle, OOC: Someday. DM: Someday.
Beetle, OOC: Well, if [Elaye] didn’t throw me out the airlock the first time she met me, you know... DM: Odds are good? Beetle, OOC: Exactly!
Vasir: Do you know Beetle? Since apparently she’s been on the Apricity before. Irène: Yeah. I know Beetle. DM: She doesn’t say anymore than that.
Vasir: I’m going to have something to eat, so... see you people later. DM: Vasir just fucks off. Vasir, OOC: Yep. Phos, OOC: Vasir just walks off.
Phos: There are very few of us [krogan] that live past a thousand. DM: Wh - wait. Phos, you’re not past a thousand, right? Phos, OOC: No! No, I’m not! DM: Okay, good, because I was like wait a fucking second.
Phos, OOC: I can imagine just like Beetle sliding in and - and - DM: On heelies! On heelies! Phos, OOC: On - [laughter]
Vasir, OOC: I feel like Mordin and Kirrahe would love heelies. I can’t explain why, but - Beetle, OOC: They would. DM: Mordin would be like, “This is the most efficient way of travel,” and just like roll around his lab. Vekar, OOC: They would love the science behind it. DM; Yeah, exactly! Vasir, OOC: I love it.
DM: Anyway, you just give Irène this little bro nod, and she just gives you like a head tilt back.
Telissa: Oh, hi. You’re - Beetle. Right? Beetle: Hell yeah, I’m Beetle. Telissa, laughing: That’s a good attitude to have. Beetle: Yeah, I love having it. DM: Wh - what do you even say to something like that? Telissa: Well, that’s, uh, that’s good.
Beetle, OOC: Beetle raises her hand for a high-five. DM: Telissa high-fives you back. It’s pretty sick. Beetle, OOC: Hell yeah. DM: She has to do a little jump to reach you, but it’s totally awesome. Beetle: Hell yeah. We’re, like, buds now. Telissa: I’m good with that.
DM: Vekar, you just look over and it sounds like Phos is dying. Rela just like pats your shoulder, and she’s like - Rela: Okay, you’re fine, maybe you should go. Vekar: ... Well, then.
DM: They ask this? What do they say? Vasir, OOC: ... They - DM: I’m making you roleplay! Do it! Vasir, OOC: I’m going to!
Beetle, OOC: What’s your class? DM: Hey, babe, what’s your class? Beetle, OOC: Bourgeois. Party: [laughter] Vasir, OOC: I’m not here to make space communism jokes, Beetle can do that. Beetle, OOC: Beetle is seizing the means of production. DM: Power play!
Annos: I don’t know why [the Shadow Broker] wants to send you there, but I’ve learned not to question these things. Vasir: I know the feeling. Annos: Hm. I’m sure you do.
DM: So you’re still getting - BBs picked out of you, but - but let’s say you’re done with that now, and Suella just, like, pats your hand, and she says - Suella: Wow! You were, uh, you were pretty loud about that! I’m sorry, maybe we should’ve drugged you, huh? Phos: You were messing in my secondary organs, and I’m not really sure whether I can - Suella: Oh, come on - DM: And she, like, punches you lightly in the shoulder - Suella: Don’t be such a baby. I wasn’t actually doing surgery. They were just, like, embedded in your skin. Even Annos is better than that.
Vasir, OOC: Oh, shit, whaddup, it’s time to sleep!
Phos: Do you know where we could actually sit down and - make tea? I don’t know this ship very well, so is there a place we can boil water, or - DM, quiet and exasperated: There’s a galley. Phos: There’s a galley? Beetle: There’s a galley? Plus tables, plus chairs?
Phos, OOC: So we’re having a little tea party! Beetle, OOC: Beetle still has the mug from the tea shoppe. Party: [laughter] DM: Do you wash it out first? Beetle, OOC: [silence] DM: That’s a very long pause. Beetle, OOC: No, I’m not sure if Beetle understands the concept of washing a mug that she stole.
Vasir: I guess if we raid any more tea shoppes and murder their owners, I’ll keep that in mind.
Phos: At least we weren’t involved [in Delta’s murder]. Vasir: I know, Phos, I didn’t forget. Beetle: I wasn’t, either. Phos and Vasir: [incredulous laughter]
Vasir: I’m not judging you on a moral basis, just on an efficiency basis.
Vasir: And from what I know of the Chens, they seem like people who would like cats. One of the Chens, sheepishly: We are easily swayed.
Cat: Wait, what do you - what do you mean, [Muffy is] unusually smart? That’s seems a little cryptic. - I mean, that’s kind of your speed, but - Ann: Cat. Cat: What? It’s in my frickin’ name, I have to know!
Vasir: I don’t know, I haven’t studied biology. Cat: That’s fair. Only one of us has. Bea: Whoop!
Vekar, OOC: Here’s the strat on how to get a ship cat: “It’s a cat.” Vasir, OOC: They’re salarians! They’ve never dealt with cats before! Vekar, OOC: So? You’re a quarian. DM, whispering: Oh snap.
DM: So let’s move on back to your tea party. [pause] How is your tea party?
Beetle, OOC: So the krogans have these really nice, delicate teacups, and Beetle has a - DM: Beetle has like a tankard. Beetle, OOC: A mug. Yeah, yeah.
Phos: I’m just wondering what you time on the Apricity was like before. Beetle: ... Um. Phos: Like, what kind of jobs have you taken previously? Beetle: Oh! That’s easy. - Mostly stealing.
Phos: Well, I wasn’t really strangling her, but I was keeping her pacified - by the throat. Beetle, polite but also distant: Oh!
