@princetaled location: the forest of the kingdom

with  the  festivities  (in  his  name)  finished  &  most  of  the  guests  having  returned  home  to  their  own  kingdoms  or  ...wherever  else  people  had  come  from  to  celebrate  with  them.  he  was  relieved,  truly.  finding  out  he  was  a  prince  &  that  he'd  been  cursed  when  he  was  an  infant  had  been  difficult  enough,  then  the  curse  actually  took  root  &  now  he  just  really  struggled  with  ...everything.  who  was  he?  had  everything  been  a  lie?  no,  right?  maybe  he  just  needed  more  time  to  find  out.  yeah.  he'd  been  a  prince  for  what?  a  week?  that  definitely  wasn't  enough  to  find  out  just  ...  who  he  was  now,  in  this  new  life.  did  he  even  have  to  be  someone  else?  couldn't  he  ...  just  be  him?  wasn't  that  enough?

he  really  needed  to  get  out  for  a  little  while,  so  he'd  announced  he  needed  a  pair  of  horses  &  his  ...fiancé.  when  he  found  out  the  man  he  had  been  promised  to  upon  birth  was  actually  the  man  he  met  in  his  dreams,  it  was  safe  to  say  he  was  relieved  &  overjoyed.  to  hear  he  was  the  one  who  saved  him?  well,  he  was  back  to  being  overjoyed.  they  hadn't  really  had  time  to  talk,  so  ...  ari  planned  a  little  trip.  he  was  already  sitting  on  his  horse,  waiting  for  his  prince  &  hoping  that  his  messenger  succeeded  in  luring  phillip  towards  him.  when  he  did  see  him  approach,  a  pair  of  noisy  birds  accompanying  him,  ari  smiled  brightly.  "ride  out  with  me!"

yes,  there  was  some  worry  that  …he'd  say  no.  that  he'd  tell  him  he  had  more  important  things  to  do  &  ari  wouldn't  blame  him  for  it,  but  he  hoped  that  this  wasn't  the  case.  he  …really  wanted  this.  he  wanted  to  rekindle  what  they  had  before  he  fell  asleep  &  build  on  it,  expand  it…  let  it  blossom.  “please?”

♡                    ⸻                    this   was   a   wee   bit   far   out   for   dorian's   usual   stomping   grounds.   but   with   the   new   exploration   of   realms,   the   protector   of   oz   often   found   themselves   basically   being   pulled   by   these   …   they   weren't   fully   sure:   calls   of   magic   ?   basically,   ever   since   their   training   as   a   ‘witch   slayer’,   dorian   often   feels   a   sixth   sense   to   the   dark   and   disturbing   that   more   than   likely   needs   to   be   rid   of.   &   though   their   first   ‘kill’   was   indeed   by   chance,   they   had   learned   to   turn   that   moment   of   chance   to   being   a   formidable   defender   and   pertinent   user   of   magic   to   battle   those   most   skilled   in   it   when   needed.   so   when   the   beacon   came   within   the   realm   known   to   be   home   for   tales   such   as   sleeping   beauty   &   maleficent,   they   were   both   weary   but   imperative:   who   knows   what   could   come   of   it   ?   but   with   every   journey,   comes   new   faces   &   new   friends.

❛   mercy   me,   are   you   alright,   sir   ?   ❜   dorian's   eyes   widen   a   little   at   the   sight   of   what   looks   like   a   noble,   albeit   rather   dirtied   and   muddy,   though   none   of   which   look   intentional.   their   furry   companion,   toto,   wags   their   tail   as   they   watch.   ❛   I   did   hear   a   little   bit   of   galloping   not   too   far   from   that   path   but   I   thought   my   mind   might   be   playing   tricks   on   me   if   this   was   maybe   an   enchanted   forest   &   such.   ❜

ext.        forest   clearing   outside   of   king   hubert's   castle.        day.

"       so   ...   uh,   did   you   see   a   horse   run   by   here?       "        phillip   says,   trying   to   keep   his   voice   as   casual   as   he   possibly   can,   in   the   hopes   that   it   would   distract   them   from   the   fact   that   he   was   covered   with   grass   and   mud.   you   would   think   that   after   years   of   being   his   companion,   phillip   would   know   not   to   say   anything   that   would   excite   samson   while   he   rides   his   back.   but   then   again,   samson   is   way   smarter   than   he   seems   ...   and   phillip   is   always   surprised   by   yet   another   thing   he   finds   exciting.

running   a   hand   over   his   hair,   he   almost   audibly   retched   as   the   thick   mud   caked   over   his   hand,   and   dropped   to   the   ground   with   a   splat.   he   still   tried   for   a   smile,   though.   his   princely   sensibilities   of   making   sure   his   horse   is   safe   still   winning   over   needing   to   run   away   and   clean   himself.        "       he   has   a   white   coat   and   a   grey   mane?   a   little   too   big   to   be   acting   like   a   kid?       "
