OK, so you know all those princesses from Rayman Legends, including Barbara? Here's my headcanons.

Barbara and Elysia were twins and lived together with their parents for the first two years of their lives. They got separated because their father couldn't stop being a cheap-ass colonial bastard who liked making shit worse for the serfs and servants. Barbara and Elysia's mother (who was more progressive and only married their father as per an arranged marriage) was forced to only take one toddler and raised her to be a rebel fighter until her death. Barbara never knew Elysia was her sister until they met up as young adults in battle.

Aurora and Twila are three years apart and hail from a kingdom populated by bean plants. They constantly quarrel over what way is the best way to rule their kingdom, which only serves to piss off their loyal subjects. When a toad army invades their kingdom, they fight with each other over how to get rid of them. Aurora simply wants to intimidate them into leaving, while Twila wants to use fire against them. (She's a pyromaniac, OK?)

Estelia and Selena are princesses who are in charge of taking care of the souls of the dead. Estelia manages the innocent souls, while Selena takes care of the evil ones. Selena feels jealous of her twin since she is depressed from seeing so much evil in the world and eventually...disappears. Estelia was under the impression of Selena being chill with her line of work until learning about her sister running away. She constantly sends out guardians to find Selena but hasn't had any luck so far. Meanwhile, Selena unfortunately falls under the influence of Mr Dark...

Ursula and Emma are a couple of tech-savvy princesses who have to deal with an army of underwater toads that are trying to kill them. Both sisters seek a device that creates portals to different worlds, and they want to throw the toads through such a portal. (But they haven't considered the possibility of the toads becoming a danger to other people, lol) Anyways, Emma gets separated from Ursula on a mission through a labyrinth, leading to her older sister to think she died. She is working hard on defeating the toads and avenging her (not so) dead sister.

Olympia and Sibylla are two princesses who are descended from Athena, goddess of wisdom. The two of them defend Olympus from attacks by demons and still stick by each other no matter what. Sibylla is too curious for her own good and often goes monster hunting (namely the Minotaur), leading to Olympia to go out and drag her arse home before she gets killed.

So yeah, here's the backstories I made up for the main line of princesses from Rayman Legends. I know that there are MORE, but I can't be arsed to go through them. Also, in my headcanon, each set of sisters isn't related, i.e., Barbara and Elysia aren't related to A+T, E+S, etc. Asafjdhvzd

I’m wondering do you have any thoughts or Headcanons about Selena’s relationship with her sister Estelia? Or even Barbara and Elysia? Are they close like family or not so much?

I've thought about some of the relationships with the family members myself, but I probably won't go into too much detail about the princesses because it's already clear in the description. For the most part, this type of relationship, if I really wanted to focus on it, would probably be grand minimus and the first king

But I'm happy to show my thoughts and headcanon about the princesses for you to read!

Barbara & Elysia :

Barbara is very ambitious. She loves adventures and challenges. Elysia too but she really shows maturity more then Barbara.They have a lot in common but have a complex yet rather typical relationship for fraternal twins. As kids, they always seem to be physically fighting and finding glee in the other's pain. As time goes on, however, they turn toward apathy toward each other, and eventually mature into admitting outwardly that despite all the fighting and arguing, but they're and love one another dearly.

Estelia & Selena :

Estelia She very socialize and optimistic likes to organize big events for her people. And she's a responsible person, unlike Selena who doesn't like to socialize. If anyone is not close or doesn't know her at all, she will be a person who talks very little but is still gentle. She will focus on fighting and taking care of her people as well. Even though the two sides have very opposite personalities, they understand each other just like normal sisters. Until now, Selena is with Raymesis's group. But she would come visit her sister/hometown sometimes. (About 3 times a month to see her sister something like that)

Ok so with first king, he looks like....brain dead, like senile or a zombie, im pretty sure the gang just uses him for his magical abilities, if he's a zombie maybe they find him in the land of the livid dead which IS the type of level you need to save Selena from so it would kind of make sense!

Selena is a way diff story, I feel like she wasn't necessarily evil at first, and even when she does become sort of bad she's still the most tame out of the group and keeps them in check

I think they were alittle older when she met raymesis, raymesis and Glombrox obviously went fiesta de Los muertos to eat, I think they enjoy eating and sleeping as much Rayman and globox

And speaking of Rayman and globox, I think at first Selena may have mistaken them for those 2, I think she'd catch on fairly quick but she still wanted to stick around cuz they seemed like the kind of silly that she needed to spice up her life, like fiesta de Los muertos IS a pretty cool place but it's like her norm she also wants to go out exploring

Estelia was probably like, "WHAT !!! WHY ARE TOU LEAVING TO HANG OUT WITH THESE BAD PEOPLE !!" (Frowning jaw drop) and I think that's one of the reasons Estelia is one of the first people to fight back against the evils attacking her kingdom, like I'm sure she looked up to her bigger sister and then for her to turn to the dark side.....like it changed her kinda !! (Surprise Estelia lore cuz she is one of my favorites princesses)

Anyways I think Estelia telling Selena that also pissed her off (sister drama) cuz like who is she to tell the older and superior sister who she can and cannot hang out with? Anyways I think that hypothetical argument also jumpstarted selena to just constantly chill with raymesis and her constant chilling caused her to develop some type of crush on him, I think she's more of a tsundere abt it tho

But of this I think she'd start letting more things they were doing fly, like if raymesis wanted to beat up at teensie at first she would probably try to prevent him from doing this, then she'd be like, "hm, ok but only this one time"

OR it could also be she doesn't gradually become more evil, and instead of just in a hopeless mindset of "I can fix him." With raymesis, but I feel like she could have been in that mindset and then gave up half way thru and was open to the evilness anyways

So for Glombrox, it says in his bio he was taken over by darktoons, which I still wanna incorporate that

I think when he met glombrox he was still fairly young, like ... teenage young? And stakes were kinda high, (in his mind at least) cuz i think this would be days or maybe even HOURS after leaving mr dark

And for the sake of evil things being alittle silly, I think black lums would be kind of unstable, and that is literally what he is made out of, so when he's pissed u can imagine he's pissed

And I think his jealousy for Rayman would be at an all time high, and to him, if RAYMAN had a toad friend, he should to, because he also deserves friends, but. There is a fatal flaw in this, he doesn't know how to make friends, let alone would he actually want to put in the effort? So what he ends up doing is using darktoons to infect one of the globoxians (does his species have a name I have no clue) and he just told him he's his friend now and they probably immediately started beating the shit out each other but raymesis saw this as "my plan worked....I have a friend now haha"

I don't think they actually figured out each others names till one day they were maybe fighting, or yelling to tell the other to shut up, and they were like "SHUT U- wait, what even is your name??" Then it's like one of those comical moments where after they find out each others names they are like "hey uhm, what were we doing again?" Then the others like, "I dunno" then they just take a nap

Do you have any headcanons for the princesses?

Well I really don't know much about Rayman Legends, I saw your headcanons and @leopardhat 's but I'll leave the answer here so I reply to both of the asks that I've received about this. I tried to investigate more about them but seriously they have no character at all (personality) and it was a little hard for me to do, but also fun of course! I tried to come up with some headcanons for now and I'm sorry if I got something wrong.

Barbara

She is the youngest of the princesses (17 years old), and has a generally adventurous, brave, and impulsive personality. She always tries to do things by herself or however she wants to, and this attitude usually ends up getting her in trouble, in fact there are many times that she acts without thinking. At first she wasn't willing to accept Rayman's help because she believed that she could save herself and the other princesses without help (and always tries to keep her pride up, and often boasts of her skill in battle). However, after they rescued her, she finally ended up joining the heroes in gratitude. Risky and dangerous situations are her favorites.

Elysia

(18 years old) Fortunately, Barbara's sister is not as problematic as she is, in fact she always tries to make sure that her sister doesn't get into trouble. There are times when Barbara has found herself in a situation that she couldn't solve on her own and she has ended up asking her sister for help and advice (Elysia is probably the only one she ever asks for help, and sometimes Rayman). She has a great passion for battles, but has other types of tastes such as botany (Barbara often calls her boring for this and to tease her).

•Elysia originally had the same hair color as Barbara in Rayman Adventures (in her adventure skin) , but she dyed it so people wouldn't confuse her so much with her sister.

Aurora

(19 years old) This princess is very fair, and is very thirsty of justice (she can do ANYTHING to make it), but she can be stubborn and when she sets out to do something, there is nothing stopping her, and it's very difficult to change her mind.

Twila

(19 years old) Generally, her personality is quite similar to her sister's, since she is a great influence on her and she admires her a lot. Although for example she is more reasonable and insecure than Aurora. She doesn't take justice so to the extreme, but she tries not to disappoint her sister. Also she is quite spiteful and fears failure.

•Aurora is older than Twila only by 5 minutes.

Estelia

(21 years old) She is a quite energetic and partying girl, the problem is that if she gets angry she can become very aggressive. She HATES physical contact and is often manipulative about getting people to do what whatever she wants. She also drinks at parties sometimes and there are times when she can lose control, Selena has to be the one to put her back on her place because anybody else dares to face her.

Selena

(22 years old) Unlike her sister, she prefers tranquility and is not so fond of parties, in fact she is overwhelmed by crowds. She is quite introverted and shy, and tends to hide her feelings a lot to not show weakness, but she does show a lot her concern for her loved ones, she even cares more for others than for herself.

✨BONUS!✨

• Selena is 100% tsundere (and also has an awful self steem).

• The language that they usually speak in their kingdom (and among them) is Spanish. In addition, the two princesses were initially nightmares that were transformed (like Ales Mansay, when he was the Dark Mage) and this is a language that nightmares also use (characters like Mr. Dark, Ales, Raymesis, and Jano speak English, well, it should be Pig Latin, and Spanish).

• Actually the makeup that Estelia and Selena are wearing was suggested by Vodoo Mama.

Ursula

She is the oldest of all the princesses (25 years old). She is also the most intelligent, especially due to her work as a spy, which she takes very seriously. She is very meticulous and often comes up with the best government ideas at princesses' meetings. She is like the typical older sister who always tries to get everything under control but knows thag she will fail one way or another, but still tries.

Emma

(23 years old) Despite being a spy like her sister, she is much more carefree and enthusiastic and takes her job as if it was a game, she likes to make everything in life a little more fun. Emma is very affectionate (and kinda flirty too) and ADORES animals, specially if they are cute,and she really enjoys warm weather. Due to this she always wants to go to the beach on holidays even if most of the places where she has missions to do are tropical locations.

Olympia

(24 years old) She is one of the great heads of Olympus Maximus, and also the guardian of the sky. She is usually very supportive of culture in general, knowing all about the mythology of the Glade of Dreams and she is always delighted to be able to tell somebody all the stories of ancient times. She herself was the one who sculpted all the statues of the mythological figures that can be seen in the place. She is also a very sporty and friendly person, in fact she organizes an Olympic Games that take place in the Glade.

Sibylla

(20 years old) Aside from being responsible for the underworld and hunting down the most fearsome dark creatures, Sibylla is also in charge of judging the souls of deceased beings. She is usually quite calm in general, but when she hunts (especially minotaurs) she gets totally crazy. Plus she can read the future, and many people of the Glade have come to think that Sibylla could be a reincarnation of the Muse of the Poets, Polokus' wife, since this divinity was also capable of reading the future and used to relate many prophecies. However, the premonitory powers of this princess are very weak compared to those of the goddess, so this was just a mere coincidence.

✨FINAL BONUS✨

• Princesses are in a way related to fairies / nymphs. For example in the kingdom of La Fiesta de los Muertos Big / Vodoo Mama and Edith Up often collaborate in their celebrations.

• There are also times when all the important figures of the Glade of Dreams (such as nymphs, fairies, guardians and princesses in general) meet with Polokus to discuss about the state of the world.

Wanted to practice Character design, and the Rayman Movie idea was still stuck in my head so decided to use the Ray-Legends-Princesses as a Base.

They don’t belong in a Ray-setting, but I made the effort to make them a bit whimsical.

Selena/Estelia is a bit poorly done, I could’ve Emphasized her Flowers more, or leaned more towards the Aztek- aesthetic... maybe take out her boots to make her float above the ground. I DO love the Flame-Scyth, though.

My personal favourite is Ursula. Fancy Man in Black wannabe with a semi Cyborg-Mermaid feel? Come on.

Twila is a Boy... why not. With a Grappling hook for the Bloody strolls at the Beanstalk

Any headcanons on Selena’s relationship with her younger sister, Estelia?

Hmmm What should I say? What I think of is probably similar to the relationship with princess celestia and princess Luna from my little pony

One person is a person who hangs out with a lot of people and likes to organize parties. The other person doesn't like to deal with anyone and has a mysterious personality. But they love each other in a sisterly way.

Oh I’m SO glad you asked!!!

I don’t have any big character headcannons for the princess, just a lot of little personality traits, quirks and bits which differentiate them from one another.  Also I don’t have many headcannons for all the ‘sister’ princesses.  I'm just sticking with the original 10 from legends, not the bonus princesses like Holly or Avelina XD

Barbara

Most adventurous princess

Barbara is the princess closest to Rayman and Globox and as such she is more likely to hang out with them than the others.

Barbara has a lot of responsibility issues.  In my headcannon while she is princess of her own people she doesn’t want to settle down and rule them.  She wants to find adventure and explore an thinks being a ruler will cramp her style.  She doesn’t hate her people or family, it’s more the concept of being a leader which intimidates her.  Maybe she doesn't think she'd make a worthy leader...

Barbara is the first princess to make her way through the Hall of Doors into Rayman’s home world.  She was chasing a thief who stole precious jewels from her village and the pair stumbled into the Glade.  Barbara, assuming the world was going to be hostile, acted in kind and wrecked havoc before Rayman caught up with her and convinced her they weren’t enemies.

While Barbara is besties with Rayman and Globox her super best friend is Clark.  As a fellow warrior they will happily spend free hours sparring, training, arm wrestling and chatting weapons.  Clark admires Barbara’s skill and strength and respects her as a fellow warrior.  Barbara is an unofficial member of Clark’s Glade security force.   Note: I do not ship them.  They are BROS.

Elysia

I don't have many headcannons for her. She's similar to Barbara in many ways but has fewer hangups about being a leader

Aurora 

Most serious minded Princess

I’ve always seen Aurora as being very tactical minded.  She will happily leap into a fight but she likes to have a plan in place for the best possible result that get as few of her allies hurt as possible.

She has a VERY short temper, especially when people don’t listen to her.

She is very much ‘serious business’ all the time, and it takes a lot to loosen her up.  

The only time she shows her gentle side is with kids and baby animals.  Her big thing is keeping people safe, and since babies are innocents she will do anything to protect them.  But at the same time she knows that her being a warrior could be a threat to them so she keeps her distance :(

One time a Globox kid called her 'Aunto Roro' and it almost broke her.  Now it's what all the kids call her ;D

Twila

Again, don't have many headcannons.  I see her as being more outgoing and less stuffy than Aurora.  She's one of the few people who can pull Aurora out her focus, mostly by driving her sister insane XD

Olympia

Most self-absorbed princes

Considered a celebrity/pop idol in her home world.  While she is a good soul she is very vain and considers her beauty to be her most defining feature.

Lives in a home full of mirrored surfaces so she can always have one eye on herself

Despite her vanity she is a ferocious warrior.  She's not a girly girl (the type who is worried about getting muddy etc).  She KNOWS she looks amazing and it doesn't matter if she's dirty or battle scarred.  On top of that she doesn't feel the need to put others down to make herself feel better because her ego is iron clad XD  There is beauty in everything...she should know ;)

She has developed a friendship with Betina who has introduced her to the concept of cellsphones (with the help of Cookie!) and as such she has discovered the art of the selfie. Olympia LOVES selfies

Sibylla

Olympia's polar opposite personality wise.  Where Olympia is selfish Sibylla is selfless and doesn't care much for her own beauty or style.  While she has lots of admirers she's not about being a celebrity and can be very shy and self deprecating.

Spends a lot of time hunting monsters in dark caves and underground, avoiding the light.

LOVES bats.  Bats are her favourite animal.

Loves her sister dearly but is a little conflicted as they are so vastly different.  She also has a sneaking suspicious that Olympia doesn't value her the same way she values Olympia. Basically Olympia's ego has unknowingly driven a wedge between them.

I think she'd be good friends with Begonaix as she would be all about building up her friend's confidence.

Ursula and Emma

Techno Princesses!

I put these two together as I see them being the strongest pair.  They work well as a team despite being different in personality.

They work as elite spy/hackers infiltrating gang hideouts and treasure stashes of the rich. They then distribute this wealth to the poor via charities and services without a trace.

Ursula is cool, calm and analytical.  Emma is high-energy, cheery and outgoing.  The pair bounce off one another with surprising skill and share a lot of banter through their missions.

Ursula and Emma both have strong British accents, though Ursula rarely speaks.  I imagine Emma's accent to be as outrageous as Tracer in Overwatch (COR BLIMEY GUV).

When not on missions Ursula enjoys reading, and Emma is an avid online gamer.  She swears a lot. It's hilarious.

Ursula cannot handle compliments.  The slightest praise turns her into a blushing mess and Emma teases her relentlessly about it.

I can see them getting on well with Cookie and sometimes going to him for help with tech, gadgets and planning for missions.

Estelia

PARTY PRINCESS

Girl just loves to party...any kind of party.  She loves parades and festivals and luau’s and picnics and themed parties...any party of Estelia's idea of a good time.

Seemingly boundless energy.  No one is sure how she stays awake as she never seems to sleep.

Despite loving parties Estelia is tea-total and avoids any and all alcohol.  She won't stop others enjoying it though!

She has a photographic memory for birthdays.  In some cases it's unclear how she finds this information, but she is always right.

Selena

As stated in cannon Selena is the darker side of Estelia. She's not evil, just far more subdued and cynical.

Selena loves parties too, she's just not as hysterical about them as Estelia.  It's hard to tell if she is having a good time as she tends to rely on morbid humour and dark jokes.  If Selena were at a college party she would be the one on the back porch smoking and discussing philosophy while watching the stars.

Unlike Estelia Selena has a crazy high tolerance for alcohol and can drink anyone under the table.

I can see Selena being besties with Voodoo Mama, sharing jokes and booze and talking about dark stuff while the party rages on.

If anyone tries to ruin/crash one of Estelia's parties then they better be prepared for the wrath of Selena as she is super protective of her sibling.

Hah, I need to draw some of these as they make me happy.  I'm sorry if any of my headcannons conflict with other people's, I'm not about stepping on toes or enforcing my views as being right ^_^* These are purely how I see the princesses!

✨Rayman Princess Designs✨

So these are early concepts or redesigns I have for the princesses because I feel like they all look too similar to Barbara. I was kind of a challenge but I kind of worked through the color palette of each of them as well as the location they are from. 

I’ll put the descriptions here: 

Barbara and Elysia

I didn't really change much for Barbara but I definitely did for Elysia. I go with the colors of each of the princesses. So this one is a strange but cute idea, but I like to think that Barbara’s and Elyisa’s parents were a Viking that fell in love with an orc queen. Both having similar interests with adventure and brute force. Hence why I gave Elysia more orc-like features here. She is a little bit more timid younger sister of Barbara who is more confident. But both sisters have a big heart of gold. They actually have the healthiest sisterly bond out of all the princesses I have here. I kinda gave Barbara orc-like teeth too, they're just not as visible as her sister’s.

Aurora and Twila

These two were actually tricky since they supposedly are based around fighting the toads in a bog-like area, with beanstalks and have appearances of Scottish warriors. So this took a little more thought, but I think it would be interesting if it were based around the fable ‘The Scorpion and the Frog’, making Aurora more frog-like since she lives in a swamp kingdom in which was invaded by toad creatures. For Twila I originally wanted her to be similar to a poison dart frog, but I wasn't sure if it would look good since she has the weirdest color palette of all princesses. I’m split between making her into a black widow (to give them more of an acrobatic advantage) or a scorpion. It kinda gave me an excuse to change her hair style. In my version they are step-sisters that are also rivals. Aurora is a loyal and trusting warrior whilst Twila is more of a resigned trickster.

Estelia and Selena

I haven't really changed much with these two. Except I had Estelia’s outfit more based on La Catrina, down to the bright red and orange dress. I used a hat decorated with feathers (based on the feathers from the original helmet), marigolds and sugar skulls. I think she would keep her bone club whilst giving Selena a scythe. As for Selena ~~best goth gf~~ I made her outfit more based on a modern day grim reaper. Giving her a reaper hoodie (similar to my other design for Voodoo Mama) but also gave her a violet skirt. They kinda have a more *strained* relationship. Selena was taken more seriously as a leader than Estelia (since Estelia is a party goer and a little irresponsible), they drifted apart due to their differences and favoritism among their people. This made Estelia more lonelier than ever (leading her to steal the forbidden spirit board and eventually summon Dalmiro in ‘Rayman and the Livid Eclipse’). Note that Estelia is more extroverted while Selena was more introverted.

Ursula and Emma

So at first I wanted them to be like mermaid spies. But I didn't really like how they looked. I still wanted to keep the spy outfits they have. Originally I was going to give them a design that mixed between the swamp monster and a koi fish. BUT I realized what would be more fitting if these girls are half octopus (since octopi are great escape artists apparently). I also gave them gear for them to throw both on land and sea. They have water pumps on their necks for their gills as well as tech to help them with their missions (based on Abe Sapien from Hellboy). Ursula is more stoic and an overachiever, pretty much the ‘golden child’ of the spy industry. Emma is sort of the opposite, despite giving great battle plans, she can be very clumsy in her missions and dojo practice. She was often not taken seriously by other spies for her less ‘intimate’ appearance (which is ironic because her bright tentacles are technically TOXIC since she’s based on a blue ringed octopus).

Olympia and Sibylla

So for Olympia I kind of give her more of an angelic appearance. Originally I was going to give her an appearance that is a mix between a Greek goddess and a biblically accurate angel but I feel like the multiple wings might be a little too much, but I’ll figure it out. Olympia can be a great sweetheart although she sometimes has an unaware ‘god complex’ as she’s half titan and/or god. Sometimes she’ll say things that can be hurtful unintentionally. She’s often lonely most of her immortal life on Olympus Maximus, so she doesn’t really know how to make friends. As for her distant Sister Sibylla, I gave her more of a hunter or brute-ish look, giving her an appearance of a huntress demigod. To top it off with the head of a previous Minotaur king after she’s been slaying Minotaurs and demons for centuries in the underworld. Making her kind of a “sadist” when it comes to battle.

They’re not completed as of yet but here’s some concepts I did so far

Selena sighed, briefly resting her head on her cousin's shoulder, needing the comfort. "Thank you," she told her. Gently lifting her head off of the red head, she looked over at Dolores, watching the computer in front of her to see what had come up.

Skeletons? Skeletons...hmm...

Her eyes widened, and she remembered something. "Barbara!" she said, "I heard a strange sound last night, like bones!"

Her face grew whiter than normal as she viewed the camera footage, and before Dolores even made any adjustments, the Princess had a bad feeling, and she was already putting it together in her head, and the enhanced footage only confirmed her suspicions.

"Estelia!" She cried, somewhat breathily.

"I hope she's alright, I mean, she's been in a sack, but.."

This is Dalmiro

Also known as the ‘Dark Moon Prince’

This ancient Rabbid prince (and a lich) is the main villain or antagonist of Rayman and the Livid Eclipse

Long ago (before Rayman was around) After loosing his family and kingdom by other creatures over killing the Rabbid population, Dalmiro sworn revenge to end all life of the world by not only drain the life from the heart of the world, but casted a necromancy spell on the moons for the world to slowly vanish from existence. He was banished into the ‘OtherSide’ by the nymphs. Only to be summoned by the princess of Fiestas (Estelia) on accident.

I won’t explain too much as of yet but he goes as far as making Rayman question his own existence and ask him why Rayman should save the very same people who turned a blind eye when his kingdom has fallen (and nearly wiping out his species).

I’m sorry if I rambled a little too much, I’ve been working on this grimdark story for awhile. I would say he could be considered the first ‘Raving’ Rabbid
