After just lovin’ Carpe from La Source Beer Co, I just had to get there again (a year later?) and see what else they had up their sleeves (was it just me or was the Carpe from last week even beter?). This Bourdon (French for drone) was a nice refreshing elderflower (mildly) sour, the perfect combo when working out in the yard (Brett effect was limited - perhaps I should have waited...). I also tried a couple of their experimental Primitive beers. I wasn’t so excited about the 010 IPL because I kept wondering why I would drink this less expressively hopped beer when I could fall more in love with a few more Carpes, but then I realized most of my Belgian friends aren’t hopaholics like I am. And then I pulled out 012, a mildly sour cream of wheaty currant beer, and I have to admit I wasn’t a fan at first because the fruits didn’t outweigh the rest, but then I switched sides was happy with the balance. Just a pity the canned beers were a bit too lightly carbonated.
