Peter had decided to fully defy the definition of sitting on the couch, and Harry had long stopped trying to pretend he didn't find it as amusing as he found it endearing. Not that it changed the way Harry himself sat, prim and proper and with his back against the back of the couch, but then again at some point the muscle memory was too strong to bother trying to find anything else comfortable, as he glanced at the laptop on the closest coffee table, where they'd opened the list of commonly known cryptids.

From his spot on his cat tower, Harry's old, scarred cat yawned, then turned to lay with his back against them, truly unconcerned by their conversation with the kind of regality only a creature who had seen more battles than meals -up until deciding he was Harry's cat now- could muster.

"If he's a bad omen, he's still not that scary. Maybe even just misunderstood." He considered, mostly joking, before Peter brought up Mothra, and there it was, another point to consider beyond how he hoped Peter didn't fall off the couch.

"I don't want to imagine any babies of theirs." Harry pointed out, with a small shudder. "But a giant moth is almost cheating. Any giant creature could knock down buildings, and end up killing people without even noticing." He pointed out. "And Mothman is not Kaiju-sized, so... second to last place, I say." The first being of course the jackalope.

And it was fun, he thought, to think of hypotheticals, to try and rank creatures that didn't exist. He spent far too much time dealing with the ones that existed already, and had too many scars from those. This, in its normality, in the comfort of hypotheticals and jokes and banter, was a more than welcome breath of fresh air.

Peter was currently sprawled out on Harry's couch inncorrectly, by some people's opinions. And by some, he meant Norman but the man wasn't around and even if he was, it wouldn't matter. So Peter's legs were staying kicked over the back of it, and he was twisted to one side to lay stretched out along the actual cushions, "I think he's just supposed to be a bad omen rather than something to check under your bed for at night. You know like old superstitions about black cats being bad luck? That kind of thing." he brushed off. He wasn't sure how they got onto the conversation about cryptids, but he did know they both agreed a jackalope was the least intimidating thing on the list.

Apparently now they were ranking them. Maybe. Still kind of unclear about that.

"Moths could be scary, if they wanted to be. A bunch of them flying around a room all at once might at least startle you walking into it." he defended before twisting again, now hanging partway upside down off the couch to see Harry better and point at him, "And if we're really opening up the discussion on this, if you saw a Mothra sized moth, you would be scared. It can knock over buildings, and if you go by the newer movies it's a she and she apparently is in a relationship with a giant, radioactive, mutant dinosaur lizard creature. That is bonus points to being scary, he has so many teeth."

Whilst Mothra was used to people being a bit panicked after witnessing her graceful descent unto their world, she was a bit saddened to see a similar reaction in her own son witnessing her appearing. She hadn’t meant to startle him so much, but as soon as he began to speak to her she was reassured he was fine. But she grew concerned when he spoke of how he was ambushed by the Smog Monster, Hedorah.

“Oh dearie me. Leo, why did you not call for my help? I would’ve helped you deal with such a disgraceful display of manners from Hedorah. Or should I say, the lack thereof.” she huffs, scuttling closer as she began to preen all over his fluff with her mandibles, basically being as overbearing and affectionate as she could be. “I know you’re capable of reincarnation, just like I am. But you still do need to be careful, my darling boy.”

“There! Your fluff is back to its prim-proper majesty again~” she’d trill happily, clearly proud of her overly doting and caring for her son. “Now then, I am sure this is all a misunderstanding on Hedorah’s side. He is, after all, a... ‘curious’ being, in both meanings of the term.”
