The zanpakuto spirit Inugami himself is hot-headed, rash, and impatient. you’d wonder how kogami is even able to tame him during the bankai unleash, but as stated in the verse notes: the power to control ratio is 5:1. he generally mirrors the part of kogami that he’s not proud of — the part of him he feel he can’t rationalize or keep control of, so he needs a lot of focus to try.

"SHINUUUUUUUUUU!!!" a running jump onto his back, tugging at his (currently human) ears. "show your bankai, huh? huuuuh? you look so much cuter as a wolf!"

      They’re in the middle of a routine patrol, and it’s just their luck that they stumbled upon some Hollows. They’re small fry, so Shinya and Thana make lightwork of dispatching them, though small fry tend to stick together in packs, with the strongest one turning their lightwork to heavy lifting with its arrival. Not that Kogami can’t handle it — he tells Thana that he’s got this, in fact.

      Bark, Inugami. 

      It’s partly to show off, and partly to get this over with. Under normal circumstances, Kogami would never consider releasing his Shikai (after all, who might be watching?). 

      Power courses through him, and while it’s a bit overkill, a powerful swipe gets the job done, and Kogami stands there, sheathing his blade and taking low, deep breaths to calm his frenzying heart. 

      Then, he feels wind and weight on his back, and he reaches back — catching Thana.

      “Oi, oi.” Kogami mutters, tilting his head as far away from Thana’s grasp as he can (though, it’s a half-hearted effort), and adjusting his grip so he’s holding onto their legs. “I do not. Besides, do you know how much hell I’ll catch if anyone else sees it?”

     By hell, he means bullying. By anyone, he means his Captain.

     “You’re a little too old to get this excited over something like this. You really love dogs, don’t you?”

      Though, he’s half tempted to unleash his Bankai, if only to indulge them… he won’t lie and say this isn’t at least a little cute.

Name: Shinya Kogami

Age: Several centuries old; appears to be in his mid 30s. 

Birthday: August 16th

Species: Shinigami, Squad 11, 4th Seat.

Biography: 

Shinya lived in the Rukongai as a child alongside his childhood friend Ginoza Nobuchika, and followed him into the Shin’o Academy where he excelled as a student, taking quickly to developing melee combat and Kido abilities. By the time he graduated, he was sorted into Division 11 to serve under Kenpachi Zaraki, due to the latter. 

He discovered his Zanpakuto name after he lost his close friend and squadmate, Sasayama, during an incident in which he went missing and was presumed dead. In his relentless pursuit that nearly cost him his own life, he discovered his Bankai, but kept it hidden from his Captain.

Shikai Special Abilities: Releasing his Shikai serves as removing a power limiter – the power to control ratio goes up by 3:1, and it enhances his senses / reflexes.

Bankai: 犬神, 食い殺す; Inugami Kui Korosu (Inugami, bite and kill / devour )  

Bankai Special Abilities: Inugami is a fussy zanpakuto, and the power to control ratio is insane (estimated at 5:1); because of this, its Bankai is best unleashed when focused. When unleashed, Kogami grows wolf ears, a tail, claws, and gains a massive power boost – if not under firm control, however, he loses his humanity and gets devoured by the Zanpakuto spirit himself. He discovered his zanpakuto name and bankai some centuries ago (as of the current events of the animanga), but has had good reason to hide it, being under Kenpachi.
