ANNOUNCEMENT!!!!

I will no longer be posting PRETTYMUCH content on this blog. I haven’t posted in over two years on this blog and that is in part due to the fact that I fell out of touch with the band's fandom, and also because of how problematic some of the members have become. I do not intend on supporting people who use racial or homophobic slurs, as well as targeting a young girl and then blocking anyone who calls them out or asking them to apologize. I understand not recognizing something is harmful, however saying the n-word with the hard r, is unacceptable, you grew up in America bitch you knew that was bad. Using R****d as an insult is ableist. Using gay and more words similar to it in an offensive way is homophobic. Blocking people who DM you asking to apologize, or who call you out on social media. Childish. I refuse to partake or support this group any longer, the few posts I’ve made will probably be removed, I want a fresh start. If you choose to unfollow me or whatever because of this, I honestly don’t care. This needs to be said and I refuse to partake in that.

Yo wtf? I wake up to lana parrilla allegedly pointing a shotgun at someone who is harassing her in her house. And then, Prettymuch,, the boy band group that hasn't released an album yet, is trending on twitter with the hashtag of #prettymuchisoverparty. And then cole Sprouse is trending on twitter because he was accused of sexual harassment. Oh and also that filipinx is being used as a gender-neutral term, like the word FILIPINO wasn't already. And did I mention that Undetaker is retiring from WWE? Also, someone is being bashed for unboxing a FUCKING ps4, just for unboxing.a.ps.4

2020 is wild yall, let me sleep in peace for once and wake up without this much drama

I haven't really been active in any fandoms since i was 16, and I don't keep up with celebrity gossip anymore. But I, a 21-year-old college senior, former member of several fandoms would like to add my two-cents on something.

Before I start, this is just in my own personal experience, and if there is any truth to anything then accountability should follow.

The prettymuch fandom is toxic af from what I've seen. Every time I get on twitter y'all are trying to cancel these boys for almost no reason. Most of the shit you all get #prettymuchisoverparty trending forbis some petty ass shit that is maybe worthy of an apology, but certainly not canceling.

I am the same age as these guys. I've been a fan of Nick's since we were 13, which is how I found Zion, and then ultimately the whole group. PrettyMuch is probably the group I've ever followed that's in my age group. So i have some experience being an underaged fan chasing after 20-something celebrities that I will probably never have a chance with (but like, you're 14 and logic goes out the window).

I'm 21, the boys are 20-22. If they weren't in a band they'd probably be on a college campus somewhere, acting.... the exact same, but no one would know or care who they are and they wouldn't actively get bullied by a bunch of high school freshmen.

I get it ladies. When you are 15, 21 year olds with the voice of an angel are the center of your world. I get it.

Back when I was active in fandoms, the target of our affections, while active on social media, they weren't very interactive. Instagram live wasnt even a thing until the year before I graduated.

Celebrities are so much more interactive with their fans these days. Especially little d-list celebrities who are more popular on social media than they are in real life.

If there's anything I've noticed in general, not just with the Beanz, but across many fandoms, is that more than ever, fans feel so entitled to know everything that x is doing. Like just entitled to their time, and answers. Social media has highkey become like a 24/7virtual meet and greet/q&a.

And like, you younger fans need to realize that while your teen years aren't that far off from your twenties, 16 and 21 are very different in practice. And like PrettyMuch isn't 1D or Justin Bieber level of fame. They don't even have an album yet. They're like internet famous. At this point they're just normal people that can sing. So they're going to act like normal 21 year old boys on social media. They're not relevant enough to care about filtering themselves. So yeah, they party, drink, smoke, and do and say dumb shit that they will learn from with or without the disapproval of teenage girls.

My point is that y'all be reaching sometimes.

The only thing that might even have an ounce of truth to is the Edwin thing. But the whole thing is very inconsistent.

Like there are apparently screenshots of lile a twitter conversation where he kinda admits that something happened, but then they're are people saying they're fake, and that Edwin is liking posts that he's innocent on instagram.

I read the screenshots a few days ago, and i do t agree with the way the fan dm-ing him was handling it.

Like Edwin explained that he was drunk, and didn't remember the conversation. And acknowledged that him drunkeness wasn't an excuse for the alleged behavior. And was actually trying to be accountable for his actions. Which is exactly what you should do if you're drunk to the point where you don't know what you're doing. Own up to your shit and apologize for your behavior. Being drunk isn't an excuse, but like it is fact. And the fan was just going in on him.

But also, from what I understand twitter Beanz are a lot more harsh on the boys than the ones on insta, which mind be while he's almost contradicting himself by liking posts stating his innocence.

And like, the alleged victim wants to remain anonymous. Which i 100% understand. However, if this goes far enough and without undeniable proof or a victims statement, i wouldn't be surprised if Edwin or Nick start looking into a lawsuit for defamation of character.

As stated before, social media is where it's at right now. If you want to get shit done you take it online.

But here's my thing.

Sexual assault is a very serious accusation.

I'm a psychology/criminology/social work student. I know that stats on victimization and reports and dark figures. I'm caught up on this.

If this accusation is real, and Edwin knows that it's true, he wouldn't be making statements IG live and messaging fans for clarification.

He probably wouldn't even straight up deny it or admit it he'd probably dance around it like a politician.

For example: Ansel Elgort was also accused of sexual assault/statitory rape this week. He released a statement where he admitted that they had a relationship and they proceeded to gaslight the victim, by saying that they're breakup was messy. All without actually mentioning the accusation.

Also with the Ansel Elgort one, the victim came foreward on her on merits. Like if there's any truth to Ansel's statement that they had a "brief relationship" or whatever, then that means that she understood the power balance, and knew that what he did to her was wrong, but was just afraid to speak about it. And that's very common with relationships with teenagers dating older guys.

I guess the issue I have with Edwin's accusation is that we haven't heard from the person that's accusing him. We haven't heard from the victim. So like... as of right now if Nick and Edwin wanted to press charges for slander against whoever made the first social media accusation, they'd probably win. And if the that wouldn't be good for the victims state of mind. The victim wouldn't get justice.
