Young Hotchniss AU - Instagram Posts
This exists purely because I saw a picture and thought "huh that looks like young Aaron" and now here we are. Now I'll wrestle with the desire to write a fic based on this too.
Mentions of pregnancy throughout.

" I can’t speak, afraid to jinx it. I can’t even dare to wish it but your eyes are flying saucers from another planet. Now I’m all for you like Janet can this be a real thing, can it?” - Taylor Swift
Pairing: Post Prison Spencer x Single Mom Reader
Summary: Spencer's therapist had encouraged him to get back into the dating scene to improve his mental wellness but after multiple failed blind dates Spencer feels that it is doing the exact opposite. That is until JJ and Garcia set him up with you.
Warnings: talking about traumatic dates, fluffity fluffy fluff, post prison spencer just being a little lover boy cutie pahtootie, lmk if I missed anything else!
Begin Again (Masterlist)
It wasn't that the girls Spencer went on blind dates with were horrible, they just weren't exactly the best. His first date was with a nice women that was in the same book club as Garcia. The date had gone wonderful until she asked if he had a chip in his neck so that the government could track him, and he would've laughed if she wasn't being completely serious. The next one was a girl who used to nanny Henry, that was all fun and games until her ex boyfriend showed up at the restaurant and she left Spencer with nothing but the bill.
Then there was the one who had too much wine and threw up all over him, the one who believed that the earth was flat and that the holocaust never happened, the one who just wanted a signed book from Rossi, and so on. He had been on at least ten failed dates within the spand of three months and to say he was over it would be an understatement.
"Oh come on Spence just give this one a try." JJ pleaded as they walked into the elevator with Garcia.
"I just don't see how this girl could possibly be any better than the last ten that you and Garcia set me up with."
"But she is!" Garcia exclaimed. "You see me and the all so lovely JJ realized the problem was that we hadn't picked a girl for you together as a team so that's exactly what we did and she will blow your little genius mind."
"fine." He huffed in defeat "but if this date ends horribly you have to promise to never set me up again."
Both the girls agreed to the deal so Garcia sent him your number as fast as she possibly could've.
All he could do was pray that they were right and that this date would turn out to be better than the last ones.

You adjusted your knitted sweater while you intensely examined yourself in the mirror. You wondered if you had put on too much makeup or if your tan knitted sweater with jeans and converse was too lazy for a first date.
"Can you stop fixing something every five seconds your seriously stressing me out." Your best friend Liv pleaded behind you while her head hung off the edge of your bed.
"I'm scared liv this is the first date I've been on in a long time and I don't want it to turn into a dumpster fire of a night." You sighed and brushed out the curls in your hair one more time.
"I think its going to be just fine from what you told me this guy is just as awkward as you are so maybe it's like a match made in dork heaven." She laughed.
"He seems super sweet I'm just scared he's going to run for the hills as soon as I tell him about Autumn."
“If he has a problem with the fact that you have a daughter he clearly isn't mature enough to handle a real relationship and needs to start acting his age."
Most men you tried to date either immediately ran or told you that they "weren't looking for anything serious right now" after you told them a out Autumn. You just prayed that Spencer would be the exception considering he was six years older than you and had experienced a little more life than you had.
The ping of a text message distracted you from your previous thoughts. "Okay liv, Spencer is going to be here in five minutes to pick me up. Theo is dropping Autumn off at seven and remember please she needs to be in bed by eight or else she gets grumpy in the morning and I'll be home at least by eight thirty." You rambled.
"don't you worry about Autumn she's going to have a great time with the world's greatest god mother. Also I already took the day off so go clean out your cobwebs tonight, I got this." You both let out a laugh at her last comment.
"I just feel so guilty leaving Autumn the day she comes home from her dad's. I promise I will be home by at least nine so maybe I can call in too and we can go get brunch in the morning?" You suggested fixing your earrings; finally feeling less anxious about how this would all play out.
Before liv could answer you the doorbell rang signaling you that either Spencer was waiting or Theo had been there early to drop Autumn off. Your heart rate picked up as you grabbed your purse and walked to the front door and slowly turned the knob.
"Hi you must be Y/N" Spencer smiled when you opened the door. You hadn't expected him to walk all the way up to your door and knock. Most of the guys you'd gone out with were the drive by and honk type, especially Autumns father Theo when you were dating.
"Yes I am and you must be the famous Dr. Spencer Reid I've heard so much about." You beamed as you walked out and shut your door behind you as soon as you heard liv open her mouth.
"Only good things I hope?"
"I think we both know JJ and Penelope would never dare to say anything bad about you." You said as you both approached his car, blushing when he opened the car door for you.
You were sort of confused at the fact that he insisted on picking you up. You could’ve sworn that you remembered JJ saying something about how he hated driving.
The drive was mostly silent and sort of awkward on your way to the unknown restaurant that Penelope had insisted he take you to after you told her that you enjoyed pasta, she had made your guys' reservation and everything. And when you arrived he opened your door for you once again. Even after being told almost every detail about the man standing before you still felt extremely nervous to make conversation.
"So JJ tells me that your a teacher." He attempts to make small talk.
"I am. I teach kindergarten, honestly I wanted to be an English Lit professor but you kinda of have to wait for one of those guys to die before the position is opened." You winced at your own shitty joke. You and Liv had always joked about how college professors looked like they were decomposing but Spencer didn't know that. And now that you’re thinking about it you remember Penelope telling you that Spencer was a professor when he wasn't with the BAU.
He let out at small laugh and you were absolutely flabbergasted. He got your joke? And he laughed? You were starting to wonder if this was just a laugh at all her jokes type of flirt tactic. But then again JJ had told you that he was sort of oblivious and bad at flirting.
"That's so true. You know the average age of college professors in the United States is 42 but there are significantly more faculty that reported their age at 55 and above so technically there's a lot more old professors in the USA than young professors." He rambled.
"I didn't know that." You smiled. He did understand your joke.
When you arrived at the front door of the restaurant you were met with a sign that said "CLOSED" in bold letters. You swear you could've cried you were only twenty minutes into the date and it had been so wonderful until this.
"oh...well if you wanted we could find a food truck and eat in my car? But only if you want to." He suggested, anxiously waiting for your response. You noticed him fidgeting with his fingers and you immediately interpreted that he was outside his comfort zone asking you to stay but he was still trying nonetheless.
"This isn't your master plan to drive to some viewpoint and get me in your back seat is it?" you smiled trying to ease his anxiety.
"I promise" he held his hands up.
You both walked back to his car unable to stop smiling. He was glad that you already weren't like the other girls he had gone on dates with. And you were happy that he wasn't as douche like the other guys you had been on dates with but you also still needed to tell him about autumn before you fully came to any conclusion about his character.
"Spencer before we continue this date I have something I need to tell you." You stopped walking and looked at him and he had fully set into a panic. This is it. This is when you would turn out to be just as insane as the other ones. He braced himself for your next words. "I have a one year daughter. I needed to tell you before I got too attached and you decided to run. I told JJ and Penelope not to tell you so that I could see how you reacted."
He exhaled a breath he didn't even know he was holding in. "That's a relief."
You quirked your brow at him. "So you don't care that I have a daughter at home?"
"Not at all" he reassured you "I actually quite like kids. I've never had any of my own but I have my two godsons and they're wonderful." You smiled at him. How could he have been so damn perfect.
You continued walking and he opened the door for you once again when you reached his car. And once you were both in the small talk started up again. "So I assume you know how I know JJ and Garcia but how did you meet them." He was still astounded at the fact that they both knew someone this perfect and didn't set you up with him sooner.
"I used to be Henry's teacher and then when my I had my daughter me and JJ were in a mom group together and we became friends. And then I met Penelope when JJ invited me out one night and I've been friends with the both of them ever since." You responded. "And I'm guessing your Henry's godfather that he dressed up as for Halloween when I had him as a student?"
"How did you know? That was such a long time ago I'm surprised you even remember that." He smiled at the fond memory.
"Because it was probably the cutest little costume I had ever seen and extremely creative might I add. My daughter was a pumpkin for her first Halloween and Henry beat her in cuteness by a long shot." You gushed. "But don't ever tell her I said that."
"Can you tell me about her? Your daughter." Spencer asked. You felt like you needed to pinch your arm to see if this was real.
"Her name is Autumn. I named her that because she was born in October and my favorite poem is Autumn by Alice Clary. She has so much personality for a one year old and she’s just so beautiful and amazing. I never saw myself being a mom but now that I am I couldn’t imagine anything else." He admired the way your eyes sparkled and your voiced softened when you talked about her. It was so incredible how in love you were with being a mother. He parked the car and you both walked out and towards the first food truck that you had passed neither of you cared what kind of food it was considering you were absolutely starving.
Within the next couple of hours you had both ordered your food and we're currently eating it as you spoke on the hood of Spencer's car. He has his head thrown back laughing as you told a story about one of your lousy dates that you had been on in the past.
"So I really thought I got stood up and I was ready to leave until this guy shows up and explained to me that he had to have his mom drop him off because he missed the bus. And then he continues to tell me all about how he still lived in her basement and was unemployed." You laughed.
"What did you tell him."
"I pretended that Autumns dad called me and told me that she was sick and I had to leave immediately." You responded "and then he asked me if I could take him back to his mom's house on my way. I ended up taking him home and paying for my own dinner."
"I can do you one better." Spencer laughed "One time JJ set me up with this woman from your mom group named Amy and she seemed okay until she started drinking and in the middle of me telling her what I do for a living she threw up all over me in the middle of the restaurant. I had to carry her out because she could barely walk and I swear my car smelled like puke for a week."
"why would JJ even set you up with her" you wheezed "we literally call her alcoholic Amy. She always has a flask in her son’s diaper bag it’s absurd.” You giggled.
Spencer sat there admiring your beauty as you laughed. Something about you made him feel so comfortable. In the short time you'd known each other you made him feel so comfortable that he didn't need to hide behind all his knowledge. Comfortable enough that he could just be a carefree and casual version of himself that he barely even knew existed. He felt bold and confident in your presence and it made him so truly happy.
Your phone starting to ring. You picked it up extremely fast, scared that it was Liv wanting to face time to tell you that something was wrong with Autumn. But Penelope's name and face was the only thing that covered your screen.
"Oh look who it is." You giggled and flashed your phone at Spencer before you answered. "Hey pen, what's up?"
"So I was calling to ask how the date went but then I realized that I had gotten the confirmation for your guys' reservation at six this morning and I thought it was weird but sei la vie you know?" You and Spencer smiled at her rambling "But then I looked at the website and these people are open at six in the freaking morning! So turns out I made your reservation for seven thirty am not seven thirty pm cause they're closed at five which is completely bonkers if you ask me." She took a second to finally breathe "so I am so sorry if your date got ruined. Ugh and you were the first good one we set him up with too but I'll fix it no worries my love."
"Pen I'm gonna say your hours too late on this call but your all good we found something else to do so no worries." You laughed and turned your screen so that Penelope could see Spencer sitting next to you.
"Oh look at that you guys are still out. I would like to end this call with a quick" she cleared her throat preparing for her next words "I win Spencer, I told you she was a good one! ha!" After those last words she hung up.
"oh my goodness I didn't even realize what time it was" you gasped when you looked at the time on your phone and saw that It was almost midnight. "I'm so sorry I kept you out this late."
"No really your okay. I'd be lying if I didn't already see the time a while ago, I just didn't want this to end so fast." He admitted and it made you heart absolutely melt.
"If I didn't have autumn waiting at home for me I would totally stay for longer but I really should get going." You sighed.
He nodded and took your guys' garbage to throw away before he opened the passenger door for you to hop in. After he got back into the car and put his seat belt on he felt the need to ask you about your previous marriage. Something intrigued him about the fact that you had gotten divorced for what he considered to be at a young age.
“So I know this is sort of first date taboo but um, why did you get divorced? You don’t have to answer if you don’t want to I was just kind of curious because I just feel like twenty eight is a young age to get divorced.”
“Oh no I really don’t mind talking about it.” You reassured him. “Me and Theo met in high school. Honestly it was one of those cliche high school sweethearts type of things. I was a cheerleader; he was the captain of the basketball team and our parents were friends so we just thought why not? It seemed right at the time but after I got pregnant with autumn everything changed so I filled for divorce before she was born.” “you know it’s actually proven that children who never experience their parents unhappy relationships actually live a much happier and healthier life than those who experience their parents divorce.” He tried to make you feel better about your failed marriage in his own special way.
“I hope that’s the case with Autumn” you sighed.
“I’m sure it will be. I know we haven’t known each other for very long but you seem like a really good mom.” He smiled as you pulled into your driveway. Neither of you were ready for the night to end but you knew it had to eventually.
“I’ll walk you to your door” he cleared his throat before exiting his car. He opened the door and you both silently walked to the front door but as you went to turn the knob Spencer stopped you. “I’m going to ask you a question and you can feel free to tell me no but it’s going to drive me crazy if I don’t ask. Can I kiss you?”
“yeah” you let out softly. He placed his hand on your cheek and slowly leaned down until your lips met. You moved your arms to rest on his shoulders while he moved his other hand to your waist. Something as simple as a kiss had never felt so perfect to you.
That was until Liv opened the door and cleared her throat in an incredibly overdramatic manner. “Hi I’m Olivia, Y/N’s roommate.” You and Spencer pulled away from each other, cheeks flushed and chests heaving.
“It’s nice to meet you, I’m Spencer” Olivia waited for a handshake that was never going to happen.
“He has a thing with germs”, “I have a thing with germs” you both stated at the exact same time.
“Anyway I should get inside now I had a fun night with you Spencer, feel free to text me anytime.” You smiled at each other with a silent understanding before he walked away.
you walked past liv to get inside. “So coming home after curfew young lady. Tsk. tsk. Did you get lucky?” She wiggled her eyebrows.
“no he was a perfect gentleman and we just got lost in conversation.” You beamed.
“I imagine it was hard to have a conversation with his tongue down your throat!”
“that was the only time we kissed tonight! I really like him liv something about this guy just feels so different. It feels like I was meant to meet him you know.” Liv let out a small laugh but you were completely serious. You knew Spencer Reid was about to change your life you just didn’t know how yet.
“oh my goodness and what was that germ thing about. I mean the man wouldn’t shake my hand but he would swap saliva with you?”
“you know it’s actually more cleanly to kiss than shake hands.”
liv just shook her head “you two really were made for each other. I’m going to bed now but I will be ready for brunch in the morning.” She said before she walked to her room. You threw yourself on your couch and you couldn’t help but kick your feet at just how happy you were and little did you know Spencer was just as giddy as he walked into his apartment.

warnings: arguing, smut, edging (sorta)
Tumblr media
After the night at the bar, you had been extremely busy with work. You haven't had the time for your date with Emily, but she'd still always tease you. Even if it was at work, you had found ways to sneak around without being caught. Well, hopefully.
"What's going on in that pretty little head of yours?" Your thoughts immediately left your head as you looked up to see Derek in front of you.
You chuckled, shaking your head. Every thought you had was about Emily, and nobody knew about what you two had done in the bar. "Nothing. I'm just tired."
A smirk was plastered on his face, he knew you better than that. But he wouldn't pry you for answers. Thankfully, he had left you alone and he went back to his desk. However, the girl you admired had sat across from you at her desk.
Her eyes met yours, the sparkle in her eye always made you smile, make you feel like the happiest person in the world. You can tell so much emotion from someone's eyes.
"Y/n, my office please." Your father's voice made your head turn, breaking eye contact with Emily. Your coworkers made an 'ooo' sound, acting like children. Your eyes rolled, but you got up making your way to your fathers office.
You shut the door and sat down across from him. His eyes were looking at his paperwork, and he didn't look up. That always scared you, he was intimidating.
A couple minutes later, he finally looked up at you. "I need you to tell me about what you're doing with Emily." His voice was stern and full of anger. He couldn't possibly know.. could he?
"I'm sorry..?"
He never broke eye contact, which intimidated you more. "Y/n, tell me now."
"Dad, I don't know what you're talking about. She's my coworker, what else do you want me to say?" You did your best to stay calm, not looking guilty.
He scoffed, "I gave you a chance to tell me the truth." You watched him as he grabbed his phone, pulling up a picture of you and Emily. Her hand was around your waist, as you two kissed. You thought you were alone in that hallway, but it appears not. You were in disbelief, you didn't know what to say or do.
"I forbid you to see her."
"What?! That's not fair! You can't do that, I'm an adult and I can see whoever I want whenever I want." You protested, even though you'd lose against your father.
His hands slammed against the desk as he stood up, and you jumped. "Emily is my best friend, and on top of that my coworker! I will not allow for this to continue, and if it does I will place both of you on suspension or you'll be fired." His voice raised, and you wanted to cry. He never spoke this way to you, and you respected him but you couldn't at this moment.
You couldn't stop seeing her, she made you so happy. She was your favorite person, you couldn't. "Dad, I have so much respect for you, but I can't stop seeing her."
He scoffed, "it wasn't a choice, y/n. Stop seeing her. Now." His voice was filled with so much anger, you knew this was a losing game for you.
You stood up, "this isn't fair! Why are you doing this to me? Please don't make me."
"My decision is final."
You clenched your jaw, opening up the door. Your dad was already looking at his paperwork. You slammed the door as you left, making your way out of the bau. You kept your eyes forward, not looking at your wandering coworkers eyes.
You locked yourself into your car, and you started to breakdown. Your father has never acted like this before, he was a little uptight but he wasn't ever like this.
You suddenly jumped as a knock came from your window, you looked up, seeing Emily. Her face was filled with concern, and you unlocked the door. She made her way around the car, and into the passenger side.
Her hands cupped your cheeks, "what's wrong, my love? Why wre you crying?" You couldn't tell her, you didn't want to. You knew she would listen to your father, and take his side. You kept your eyes on the center counsel, as your tears fell down your cheeks.
"Baby, talk to me. I don't like seeing you like this, and I want to make you feel better." Her voice was soft and filled with concern.
You wiped your tears, finally looking up at her. "You can't. My dad said that.." you paused, trying to read her. She was patient, and she didn't push you for an answer.
"He said I can't see you anymore." Emily shifted in her seat, and she moved her hands. You thought this was it, and she was going to agree with him.
The car was silent, she didn't speak or look at you. You were worried, you have had a crush on her for ages. You couldn't lose her as soon as you got her.
Her voice broke your thoughts, "do you want to go on that date tonight?" Her eyes met yours, and you immediately smiled from relief.
Hours later, and Emily was at your front door. She eyed your body, admiring how beautiful you looked. "You look.. astonishing." You smiled, wrapping your arms around her neck, placing a soft kiss on her lips.
Her hands met your waist, rubbing your side. The kiss was slow at first, until Emily ran her tongue along your lip, pushing it into your mouth. As you pulled back for air, she smirked. "Good thing you pulled back, or else that dress would be off of you before we got into the restaurant."
You smiled, and she held her arm out for you. You linked your arms, making your way to her car.
You were at the restaurant, across from your lover. As the date went on, her face lit up. You loved her laugh, her smile, the way her eyes lit up every time you talked about something you loved.
You learned many things about Emily, you learned what her favorite hobby is, her favorite food, favorite alcoholic beverage, snack, what she does in her free time. You loved learning everything about her, you were happy she was opening up to you and still seeing you after everything you've been through.
After your perfect date night, you were in your driveway. You sat silently, looking at Emily. She smiled, leaning in. Her lips were inches apart from yours, she smirked, looking down at your lips.
"You know.. I've wanted to take that dress off of you all night." Her words made you shiver, the tone in her voice was filled with lust and desire.
You smiled, pulling back. "Then take it off." You quickly got out of the car, running into your house. Emily smiled, chasing after you. You went to shut the door in her face, but she beat you to it. Emily picked you up with one hand, as she slammed the door shut.
She pressed you against the door, as your legs wrapped around her. You laughed as her lips met yours, her hands running down your body. Her fingers danced along your skin, and you shivered.
Her hands slipped under your shirt, pulling it off of you. As your kiss broke, she began kissing your neck, sucking on your soft skin.
Her lips kept contact with your neck as she carried you to your bedroom, softly throwing you onto the bed. You held yourself up by your elbows, and Emily pulled her shirt off before climbing on top of you.
You smirked, grabbing the loop of her jeans to pull her up to you. She bit her lip, "impatient, are we?" She unclipped your bra as she watched you, your eyes never leaving hers.
Her eyes stayed on you as she leaned down, slowly swirling her tongue around your nipple. You laid against the bed, wrapping your arms around her waist. She smirked, biting your nipple as you tangled your hands in her hair. Her knee slightly pushed against where you needed her most, making you move your hips to feel her more.
Emily moved onto your other nipple, doing the same as before and she slowly slid her hand down your body, into your pants. You slightly spread your legs, giving her more access. She slowly circled your clothed clit, making you softly moan.
Her lips met your neck once again, and her hand stopped moving. She began unbuttoning your pants as she sucked a mark into your neck. "I wonder what Hotch will think of that." Emily smirked, pulling your pants off.
As she slid off your underwear, she kept her eyes on you. She sat between your legs, her hands gripping your thighs tightly.
As she kissed your inner thighs, you grew impatient. You needed her. "Emily, please.." you begged. Her smirk grew, as she leaned closer to your clit;
"What do you need? Hm?"
"I need you to fuck me. Please."
She smiled, "good girl." Emily ran her tongue along your clit, keeping her eyes on you. You kept your hands tangled in her hair, slightly pulling it. Emily was going at a slow speed, and it was killing you. You needed more of her.
You began moving your hips, but Emily quickly held them down. "Be patient. Or else I'll go slower." You nodded, and she smiled. Going back to circling your clit with her tongue, she went a bit faster than before, but still painfully slow.
As her speed increased, your moans got louder. She sucked and bit your clit, as she slid one of her fingers inside of you, moving it slowly. Her name slipped from your mouth multiple times, the way she made you feel was absolutely astonishing. You pulled Emily's hair tighter as she slid another one of her fingers inside of you, her pace increasing. You felt a knot in your lower stomach, and you felt your orgasm approaching.
Emily kept her speed, but every time she knew you were getting close she would slow down. She was edging you, making sure you hadn't cum yet. She replaced her tongue with her thumb, "if you want to cum, darling.. you better start begging." She whispered in your ear.
You could barely form any words, you were thoughtless. "Please, Emily. I need to cum, please.." You whispered, feeling your orgasm approach every time she sped up her movements. Emily's mouth was attached to your nipple, and she kept her current pace.
You figured she didn't think your begging was good enough, since she kept teasing you. "Please, mommy.." you whispered, feeling slightly embarrassed that she wouldn't like that. But your embarrassment quickly faded once Emily sped her movements up once again. Emily's name fell from your mouth as you came against her fingers. She let you ride out your high before removing her fingers, and putting them into your mouth. You sucked on her fingers, licking them clean.
"Such a good girl you are." Emily removed her fingers from your mouth, and she quickly got up, making her way to your bathroom. A second later she came back with a towel, cleaning your legs up. She threw the towel on the floor, and she laid beside you, pulling your body onto her chest.
Closing your eyes, you listened to her heartbeat. You felt so much comfort laying in her arms, like a teddy bear you'd cuddle as a child. Emily ran her fingers along your back, making you fall asleep quickly.

Five months ago, your dear neighbour David Rossi asked for a favour, he was having his friends over and wanted your help to cook for them. Dave is not known for sharing his kitchen, but this is something you and him did regularly. Living next door to a pro chef with a successful catering business was a win for Dave. You obliged, with more than a few ideas in mind to try out.
He invites you to stay, you decline, not wanting to intrude and be the odd one out. But Rossi is a man with a plan, he invites them earlier than previously stated, effectively forcing you to meet the team he speaks so fondly of.
You’re a person who often needs at least a couple of interactions to accurately recall a face. This evening was no different. You fell into easy conversation with the team, they were interested to get to know you, listening eagerly about your work as a chef, a welcomed distraction from their own line of work. You indulge them graciously, careful not to press them about the details of their own work in return.
One person in the group does not contribute much. Dave enthusiastically introduces him to you as, “Aaron, the boss man,” he was quiet, face mostly unreadable but outrageously handsome. The few times he does speak, you nearly melt at his soft yet dominating voice. He is a man of few words, that much is clear. He smirks a handful of times throughout the evening. You were dying to get a better look at his beautiful face, but too intimidated to ogle at the older man. At the end of the night when everyone said their goodbyes, he came up to you on the balcony, thanking you for the delicious meal. His tone while speaking to you was different, good different. It was softer, more gentle, he was warm and kind, the epitome of a gentleman. He had called you beautiful before he knew what he was doing and began to fluster, tripping over his words as a soft blush graced his cheeks. That did you in, seeing the ‘boss man’ get all blushy and shy, and for you no less. You exchanged numbers that night and went home with a clear image of his face imprinted on your mind.
The two of you have been inseparable since. He loves everything last thing about you. Your aura, the way you speak, the way you carry yourself, the way your eyes twinkle when you’re trying to concentrate, the small adjustments you’ve made in the kitchen to allow for Jack, your self appointed sous chef, to maneuver safely.
And you love everything last thing about him. His beautiful face, his kind gestures, his ability to know exactly what to say to comfort you, his pure heart, his eagerness to learn everything about you, the love he has for his son.
You learned that his two love languages are physical touch and words of affirmation. He craves your touch, always reaching out to hold onto you in any way he can. It brings him a sense of comfort he can’t quite find elsewhere. And your words mean more to him than you’ll ever know. The words of encouragement you offer him every morning, whenever you stop to tell him how proud of him you are, when you make it a point to verbalize your appreciation for the things he does for you. It’s hard to miss the effect this has on him. It blankets him with a sense of warmth and belonging, making his heart skip a beat. It makes him smile, a real smile and not a sly grin. Your words make him feel loved, wanted, heard, and appreciated. Your love slowly brings the colour back to Aaron’s life.
Acts of service are your love language. You often take some time out of your day to bring the team something to eat. You can't help yourself, you’ve grown fond of them. Truth be told, you're putty in their hands. It was a surprise each time, southern style banana pudding that Spencer literally went bananas over, mango salsa chicken tacos with homemade fries that made Garcia shed a tear, afghan rice and beef kebabs skewered to perfection that had even Strauss drooling. They were blown away every time. Derek and Emily were quick to accuse Dave of purposely hiding you from them all this time. Hotch laughed at that.
Today, you made beef gyros with homemade tzatziki that you were very proud of. You even brought a complementary raspberry lemonade. Feeling content, you walk into the BAU excited for their reviews.
“Our saving grace, and she comes bearing gifts!” Garcia squeaks excitedly, rushing to help you with the containers. Spencer launches into a speech about the value and history of food sharing in various cultures around the globe, eliciting a loud groan from Derek.
You shake your head at them and laugh, turning to ask Emily where Aaron was when you notice her smile start to fade. You follow her gaze to a brunette that hops out of the elevator.
“Hello! How is everybody doing?” she chirps, quickly joining the rest of you. The team looks surprised to see her, muttering pleasantries and stealing awkward glances at one another. You feel lost, something is up and you are the odd one out.
She could be Emily’s girl, but she’s barely acknowledging her, and besides, I swear Em likes blondes….
“I don't think we’ve met! Hi, I’m Beth!” she gushes, extending her hand. You politely introduce yourself, “Very nice to meet you agent Y/N!” you don't have time to correct her as her next words strike something in you.
“How's Aaron? I came to say hi, God it's been so long, is he in his office?” her bubbly tone and never fading smile were starting to get on your nerves by now.
Woah hold on, Aaron? Who is this and how is she on a first name basis with him? And why have I not heard of her?
You stand still, lost in thought as someone responds and she all but skips over to his office.
“Hey, are you ok?” JJ sits you down, Emily close behind. The two of them fill you in on this Beth character. She’s his ex, they had broken up about a year ago when she took a job in Beijing.
That hurt, you tried not to let it, but it hurt. His ex who you never knew about. His ex who he only broke up with out of necessity. The one that got away…
“Listen, honestly Y/N, I wouldn't worry about it too much, she was his first anything after Hailey and he loves you. I mean, the man worships the ground you walk on, you have nothing to worry about,” Emily sounds sure of herself, you don’t share that sentiment. JJ hands you a water bottle that you graciously accept as you excuse yourself, gyros and lemonade long forgotten.
You ignore Aaron’s calls for the rest of the day, burying yourself in your work and falling down a rabbit hole of self doubt. You are not all the way present as your assistant goes over the details for an upcoming catering event in New York. Your thoughts are all consuming. If Beth didn’t have to move away, he would’ve never broken up with her, that much was clear. They broke up out of necessity, and you suspected that Aaron had encouraged her to go forth and pursue her dreams. He did it out of love, so surely he still has some feelings for her. You convince yourself that you’ve been nothing but a placeholder all this time. That hurt like hell. You’ve never been one to compete with another woman for a man to pick you, so you would make it easy for him.
A few hours later, Aaron shows up to your workplace, clearly flustered. He looks out of place in his ultra-formal black suit and tie, a stark contrast to the soft pastel coloured walls and the lilac flowers that welcome him at the front desk. A frown is etched onto his face as he searches for you, “Y/N, hi, I’ve been trying to reach you all day angel, are you ok?” you look up at him with a blank expression, the endearing pet name does nothing for you at that moment.
You excuse yourself, allowing him to follow you into a small room for privacy, the two of you sit across from each other. A small coffee table sits between you.
“I know you came by the office today,” he begins softly, “I heard that you ran into Beth, I’ll explain everything sweetheart, but please know that I love you, you mean everything to me Y/N.” You let him hold your hand but stay silent.
“Please say something, please talk to me Y/N,” he pleads, eagerly trying to reach your eyes. “You go first” you croak, your voice giving you away. He sighs, his heart feels heavy, he’s afraid what this conversation might lead to, what it could mean for your relationship.
“Beth and I dated for a little over a year, she was my first relationship after being married. I was alone for a long time, even in my marriage. I didn’t expect to meet a woman, to take her out on dates, all of it was foreign to me, the last time I had done anything remotely similar, Jack wasn’t born,” he pauses, taking in a deep breath. Your eyes finally meet his and you see each other’s pain, you will yourself to hold it in, to hear him out.
“Our relationship was unexpected but nice. I didn’t know what I was doing half the time, but I decided to give happiness a chance, for my own sake and for Jack. After a while, it felt easy, and comfortable.”
In that moment, you desperately want to reach out and hold him. Despite everything, you're proud of him for choosing happiness.
“When she got the job in Beijing, I was sad to see her go but ending it was not a difficult decision. I was not willing to uproot my life and my son for her dreams. I just wasn’t ready to compromise on that level for what we had. And she understood, she wasn’t willing to compromise her dreams for what we had either. And that was ok.”
He gives you a wobbly smile, soft brown eyes trained on yours as he continues, his hands never leaving yours.
“Sometimes people come into your life only for a season and that's ok. She came in today asking if we could rekindle things, I said no because I’ve found my forever person,” he looks up at you with teary eyes now, clinging onto your hands, silently begging you to accept him, to stay.
You let out the breath you've been holding in since he walked in, shoulders finally relaxing. Out of everything he had to say, the most important thing to you was that he did not try to discredit her or their relationship in an effort to defend himself. Instead, he was honest with you and allowed himself to be vulnerable in the moment. It makes a world of a difference to you. You respect him for it.
You pull him into a deep embrace, it's your response to him pouring his heart out. It's a warm, tight hug, one that screams relief.
You pull away to stare up at him, “I’ve found my forever person too.” You sit there for a while, foreheads touching, arms around each other. It feels nice. He apologizes for not telling you about her, but you’re past that. You know him, it always works best when you allow him to share at his own pace. You understand him, you accept him, and he loves you for it.
Being with Aaron has shown you the beauty of being in love, and how equally beautiful it is to be loved.

“Are you sure you wanna do this?” Emily mumbled against JJ's lips, both of their hands desperately tearing at each other’s clothes as they stumbled into the hotel room.
"Emily, shut up and just fuck me; you can’t tell me you haven’t thought about doing this for years.” JJ ripped open Emily’s blouse, the silver buttons popping open with ease. She groaned at the site of Emily’s bare skin, her breasts covered by a black lacy bra. She leant down, biting and sucking the skin of her breast. She pulled one of the cups down, taking her hard nipple in her mouth and flicking it with her tongue.
Emily gasped, feeling JJ bite down on her nipple. “You’re right, fuck it,” she breathed out. A wave of confidence surged through her; she picked up the blonde girl by the hips, her legs locking around her waist.
JJ laughed into the kiss as Emily brought her over to the bed. She let out a little squeak when she threw her down on the mattress.
“One time, yeah? Nothing more,” Emily stated, pulling her blouse off and throwing it to the floor. JJ nodded in agreement, unbuttoning her own shirt as well. Emily unbuckled her belt and let her slacks drop to the floor. “And no one can find out about this, okay?”
JJ rolled her eyes, throwing her shirt at Emily. “Yes, okay, no one can know. Now shut up and come here.”
“Okay, twice. We are only going to do this twice,” Emily groaned, feeling JJ’s hand dip into the waist of her pants and underwear. She was pressed up against the hotel room door, with JJ's lips attached to her neck. Her fingers started to make clumsy circles on Emily’s clit, making her head drop back against the door.
“Mhmm twice, sure,” JJ chuckled, releasing the skin of her neck with a ‘pop’ and removing her hand from her pants. She dropped to her knees, making quick work of removing Emily’s pants. She lifted one of Emily’s legs over her shoulder as her tongue ran through the woman’s folds. She looked up at Emily, her eyes closing as she groaned. When Emily’s hands gripped onto her ponytail, JJ knew this wasn’t going to be the last time they slept together.
“Emily, JJ, I’m sorry to even ask you this, but is it okay if you two share a room?” Hotch asked, approaching the two women who were sitting next to each other on the jet. They were about to head off to consult on a case. “There’s two separate beds; you know, I wouldn’t usually ask this, but it’s quite last minute, and it’s all we could get. If it’s a serious problem, I’ll figure something out.”
"No, no, it’s fine, Hotch. We don’t mind, do we, Emily?” JJ looked over at Emily, a knowing smile on her face. She was trying hard to contain her excitement because she knew whenever they were alone, they couldn’t help themselves.
Emily wanted to groan but she stopped herself. She forced a smile and waved her hand, attempting to look natural. “No worries, Hotch, we’re fine,” he nodded, thanking the women before leaving to go sit in his seat. Emily rolled her eyes and pushed JJ's hand away from her leg. “Stop it,” she insisted, giving JJ a stern look.
JJ just laughed, “Oh what? You’re not excited? Come on, it’s been way too long,” she leant in closer to Emily, leaning on her arm rest. “We can have a bit of fun, yeah?” She whispered.
Emily sighed, leaning her head in her hands. “JJ, are you not dating that cop? Whatever his name is,” she said, looking over at the girl beside her.
She shrugged nonchalantly. “Who? Will? It’s not serious, Emily; we’ve only been on a couple of dates,” she said, not phased by it at all. “Come on, what do you say? It doesn’t mean anything anyway.” She scooted closer, so she was a couple of inches from Emily’s ear. “Will doesn’t make me cum like you do, Em,” she whispered, making sure to breathe on Emily’s ear, knowing how sensitive she is to that.
Emily shuddered, feeling JJ’s hot breath on the shell of her ear. She had to turn her head away just to compose herself. No matter how many times she told herself to not sleep with JJ again, when she started playing her little games, Emily couldn’t resist. She told herself it meant nothing, that it was just a bit of fun. It may have started that way, but it was so far from that now. "Fine,” Emily mumbled before getting up and moving seats. Emily hated this; she hated fucking JJ and being reminded how little she meant to the other woman, but because she’s in love with her, she’ll take her in any kind of capacity she can.
It was the final night of the case; they’d been working relentlessly for just over a week to solve it and decided to go out to a bar to unwind once they’d wrapped it up. The team was gathered around a table, each with a drink in hand. The vibe was relaxed; they’d worked hard, and now they wanted to wind down a little before their flight in the morning.
Emily took a sip of her whisky, her eyes trailing over to the bar across the room. JJ was leaning up against it, holding a beer, and talking to some random guy who was sitting there. Emily was fuming. She’d spent the last 8 days sharing a room with JJ, fucking JJ, and as soon as they’re in the bar, she’s flirting with a guy. Emily kept sipping at her drink, trying not to let any sort of reaction show on her face. That wouldn’t go down well in a room full of profilers, especially when lying was involved. She watched as JJ leant into the guy and began kissing him. Her heart dropped into her stomach. She threw back the rest of her drink, slamming her glass down on the table. Not meaning to hit it so hard, “I’m not feeling well, guys; I’m going back to the hotel. I’ll see you in the morning,” she announced, getting up and storming out before anyone could question the validity of her words.
Emily headed straight back to the hotel room, slamming the door shut behind her. Tears fall from her eyes. “What am I doing?” She whispered to herself, running her hands through her dark hair.
She tried to distract herself by packing her bags so they’d be ready for their flight, but she found that task difficult while crying. Eventually she gave up, stripping down to her underwear and crawling under the covers of one of the beds. She wrapped herself up tightly in the blankets, hoping the pressure around her body would ease her sobs. Unfortunately, she was too far gone. Her cries were loud, and her body shook as she tried to muffle the sounds with the blanket.
Emily froze when she heard the lock of the door rustle. She swallowed her cries when she heard her name being called from out in the hall. She wiped her eyes and flipped over so her back was to the door, burying her face into her pillow and trying her best to pretend to be asleep. There was not a chance she’d be able to stay composed if she came face-to-face with JJ.
“Emily? Are you awake?” JJ yelled in an attempt to whisper, the alcohol in her system clearly impairing her ability to judge how loud she was actually being. She saw the woman curled up in the bedsheets, looking like she was wrapped in a cocoon of blankets. She crawled onto the bed, looking for Emily’s head, which was barely visible. She pouted when she saw she was asleep; she grunted as if it were an inconvenience to her that the brunette was asleep. "Boring,” she mumbled, giving her a quick kiss on the forehead before hopping out and moving into her own bed so she could get some sleep.
It took every ounce of energy in Emily’s body to not react or make a noise as tears welled up in her eyes again. She bit down hard on the blanket, feeling as though she’d held her breath until she heard the little snores coming from JJ, indicating the girl was finally asleep. She lay there all night, her mind going wild; she didn’t know how long she could do this to herself.
“Hey, what’s your deal? I woke up this morning and you’d already left; why didn’t you wait for me?” JJ sat in the chair across from Emily, clearly annoyed that she had to find her own way to the jet.
“I wasn’t feeling well; I had a horrible sleep,” she lied, pleading internally for JJ to just drop it. “I just wanted to get to the jet early; it’s nothing.”
JJ rolled her eyes. “A bit dramatic, Em; you still could’ve waited for me,” she scoffed, not being able to suppress her annoyance.
Emily just stood up and walked to the other end of the jet, lying across the seats and wrapping herself tightly in a blanket. She couldn’t do this right now.
JJ watched with confusion etched on her face. She went to stand up, but a hand held her back.
“Leave her; she’s not feeling well. Don’t push her; you can talk to her later,” Rossi said, patting JJ's knee. The natural authority in his voice made JJ grumble and sit back in her seat, crossing her arms like a petulant child.
“You have no choice! You’re coming to my birthday drinks!” Penelope stomped her foot like a child; she was standing in front of Emily, who was sitting at her desk. “You have not come out with the team in forever; you always bail now. What happened to you?” She pressed, not wanting to let Emily get away with her antisocial behaviour.
Emily hadn’t been out with the team since she and JJ shared a hotel room together. She had to distance herself from her ever since. Trying to move on from a woman you see every single day is impossible; now add in seeing each other after hours. And alcohol? It’s guaranteed not to work. Especially not when JJ would find any excuse to throw herself at Emily when given the chance. “Who’s going?” She asked, contemplating the idea for a split second. She felt bad saying no to Penelope because she was right; she has bailed on every gathering they had in the past 9 months.
“Everyone here! Me, Hotch, Rossi, Morgan, Reid, and JJ, and she’s bringing Will. Please Emily?!” She begged.
Emily caved and decided she would go. Penelope was one of her closest friends; she was doing it for her. She hoped that if JJ was bringing Will, then she’d leave her alone. She most likely would, seeing as though Emily has barely spoken a word to the girl in 9 months. Only speaking to her if it was related to work. Emily didn’t even congratulate her when she and Will got engaged 2 months ago. She just couldn’t let herself go there. Not when she’d come so far in trying to get over her.
“It’s good to see you out, Prentiss; we missed you.” Morgan wrapped his arm around Emily’s shoulder and clinked his beer against her glass of whisky.
She smiled, taking a small sip of her drink. “You know how Penelope is with her words; I don’t think there was ever a chance of me not coming,” Morgan laughed, easily agreeing with her because he knew exactly what Penelope was like. “I’m just gonna go to the bathroom; can you watch my drink?” She asked, passing her drink over. He nodded, taking a hold of her drink, not thinking twice. She walked through the crowd and headed for the bathroom. She was surprisingly enjoying her night; she wasn’t regretting her choice just yet. That was until one of the toilet stall doors flung open and JJ stumbled out as Emily was walking in.
“Well, well, Emily Prentiss. So nice to see you. What’s it been? Like a year since we last spoke?” She seethed in a drunken haze. She was pissed, and the alcohol was making her brave.
“Not now, JJ. Please don’t do this." Emily tried to push past the woman, but JJ wouldn’t let her.
“If not now, then when? Cause you sure as hell don’t speak to me anymore, shit, you don’t even look at me,” JJ said, Emily still not being able to make eye contact with her.
"Seriously, JJ, what do you want from me? Why do you care? You’re engaged to Will now. I was just a quick fuck for you, wasn’t I?” She was angry now as well, not being able to bite her tongue.
JJ scoffed, letting out a forced laugh. “You were a quick fuck? I was the quick fuck! I meant nothing to you! And you never passed up a chance to tell me that!”
Emily looked at JJ like she was completely insane. “You must be so fucking drunk right now because you were always the one telling me it meant nothing. We would fuck, and then you’d be hooking up with guys the same night! You’re delusional, JJ; you’re fucking clueless. I loved you; I was completely in love with you, but I was nothing to you.” Tears of anger sat on the rims of her eyelids, but there was no way she would let them fall.
JJ felt as though all the air had been sucked out of her lungs from hearing Emily’s admission. “Tell me, Emily. Tell me to leave him, and I will.” She didn’t know why she was saying this, but it came out, and it was too late to stop it. There was a part of her that had always loved Emily. “I’ll leave him for you if you tell me to right now.” It must’ve been the alcohol in her system, because there was never a time when she’d ever even come close to confessing her feelings for Emily.
“Fuck me, you’re insane,” Emily’s hand slapped against her own forehead as she listened to the words leaving JJ's mouth. “I’m done, JJ. I’m leaving; you need to let me go. You need to fucking let me move on. Marry Will and I’m begging you, please forget about me,” she turned to leave the bathroom, but JJ ran, situating herself between Emily and the exit.
"No, Emily, I’m not done with you. I can’t forget about you; you’re not nothing; you never were.” JJ was pleading now, desperation the only thing evident on her face.
Emily took in a deep breath, stepping forward so her face was mere inches from JJ’s. “You should’ve thought about that before you treated me like I was nothing but a quick fuck when you were bored.” Her voice was stern and controlled, a stark contrast to what she was feeling inside. “Now move out of the fucking way, Jennifer.”
JJ stepped to the side without a word; what could she say? She had no answer to that whatsoever. She dropped back against the wall after Emily left, her hands in her hair. Tears of frustration rolling down her cheeks. She’d fucked up big time, and she didn’t think there would be a way out of it.
"JJ, can you please see me in my office?” Hotch requested as he walked up the stairs into his office, leaving the door open for JJ to come inside. She followed promptly, closing the door behind her.
“What’s up?” She said it casually, not expecting much of this conversation.
“I’ve got some bad news; it’s about Emily.” Worry immediately flowed through JJ, waiting to hear what the bad news was. “She’s resigned, JJ. She filled me in on your history together and insisted I not tell you until she was gone.”
JJ was confused; she couldn’t quite pinpoint the emotions she was feeling. They were quickly becoming messy inside her mind as she tried to process what Hotch was telling her. “No, Emily wouldn’t do that. I know we’re fighting right now, but she would never do that. I have to go speak to her.” Her voice was trembling, the possibility of tears increasing with each moment.
“She’s left the country. JJ, she got a job at Interpol. She’s on her way to London already." Hotch knew this would be tough on JJ. He didn’t necessarily agree with Emily’s choices, but he had to respect them.
“Without saying goodbye to any of us? She just left the entire team.” Hotch’s silence told JJ everything she needed to know. “Oh, so you all knew and not a single one of you told me?” She could finally pinpoint an emotion; she was angry. She didn’t care to hear his reply because Hotch had the capability to talk sense into anyone, and JJ didn’t want that. She stormed out of his office and straight out of the building, ignoring any attempts that people made to talk to her.
JJ entered her home, slamming the door closed as hard as she could. She was frantic; she couldn’t believe Emily actually did this. She was heartbroken. She knew things were bad between them, but the Emily she knew wouldn’t do this. HER Emily would simply not do something this bad to her.
She grabbed her phone, her trembling fingers tapping at the screen. She put her phone on private and immediately called Emily’s number. She knew there would be no chance of her answering if Emily knew it was JJ.
“Hello, Emily Prentiss speaking.”
A rush of pure, uncontrollable anger flashed through her body when she heard Emily’s voice. “How could you do this?” Her voice shook as she spoke. She was trying to control her anger, but it was only a matter of time until she exploded or completely broke down.
"No, I’m not doing this. I’m hanging up, JJ.”
JJ shook her head, despite not being able to be seen by the other woman. "Please,” she choked out, tears starting to spill from her eyes. “Please Em, come back; you can’t leave me,” she sobbed, moving to sit down wherever she was; she couldn’t hold herself up anymore. Her head was spinning.
Emily closed her eyes tightly, hearing JJ begin to sob and beg her to come back. Her heart jolted with every cry. “I can't, JJ; I have to go, and you need to let me move on.” Her hard exterior was beginning to drop while listening to JJ cry through the phone. She’d never heard her cry like this before.
“I’m sorry, Emily; I’m so sorry for everything.” She didn’t know what else to say. It was pretty evident that Emily wasn’t going to come back. “I love you,” she whispered, wiping her nose with the end of her sleeve.
“I loved you too, JJ.”
JJ dug into her handbag, looking for her keys, as she walked towards her car. Her hand mindlessly shuffled through the bottom of her bag, not being able to find them. She was getting frustrated; she stopped walking so she could look into her bag properly, but before she could, something hard came down against her head, knocking her to the floor. She was taken off guard; she hadn’t seen anyone around. Surely she wouldn’t have missed someone following her? She would never have missed someone. She grunted, grabbing at her head where she was hit; her hand came back covered in blood, but before she could do anything, she was hit over the head again.
JJ jolted awake, gasping as hard as she could, the feeling of the oxygen filling her lungs, causing her to become more alert. She flinched and let out a yell when a stream of freezing cold water hit her in the face, the intensity of the flow ripping at her skin. She tried to cover her face with her hands, but she quickly became aware that her hands were tied to the chair she was sitting on. The water stopped, giving her a chance to catch her breath. She wanted to freak out, she wanted to scream, and she wanted to fight, but she knew better. If she wanted to get out of there alive, she needed to assess the situation and work out what her best reaction to this would be.
JJ let out a deep breath, finally working up the courage to open her eyes. She came face to face with the man who was standing in front of her holding a hose. She was instantly confused; she didn’t even recognise him. He was hardly a man, practically a boy. Maybe 18 or 19? “Who are you?” She finally spoke. Bad idea. The boy raised his hand, backhanding her hard across the face. She chewed the inside of her cheek and squeezed her eyes shut, trying to ignore the pain. She didn’t want to show this guy that he’d actually hurt her.
“Are you serious? Who am I?” He grabbed her by the jaw, whipping her head towards him, forcing JJ to look at him. “You ruined my life, and you don’t even have the decency to remember who I am?” His grip on her lower face tightened with each word. It didn’t take a profiler to know that he was angry, but he was specifically angry with JJ.
JJ’s mind was moving at a hundred miles an hour, trying to mentally flick through all the cases they’ve worked on. He couldn’t have been an unsub; 99% of the unsubs they arrested ended up in jail. She was stumped.
Slap. Another back hand to the face. She grunted at the pain, her thought process momentarily pausing as the pain radiated through her face. "Fuck,” she whispered to herself. Her head was slightly dizzy from the second hit. She shook her head and looked back up at him. “I’m sorry I don’t recognise you. If you tell me, we can work out between us how we fix this.”
He chuckled and shook his head, dropping the hose to the ground and taking a few steps towards her. He roughly ran his hand through the hair atop her head, which was soaked from the hose. He gripped it tightly, ripping her head back roughly. She gritted her teeth, but she was still not giving him the satisfaction of the reaction he wanted. “Does William Touhey ring a bell?”
JJ was confused. She remembered the unsub, just barely. He was a long-haul truck driver, kidnapping women, killing them, then dumping them across state lines. It was a simple enough case. “What about him? He was a straight-forward case. We found him; he tried to shoot his way out; he died after we shot him,” the smile dropped from the boy's face, and before JJ could register his expression, his fist came into contact with her face. She yelled loudly; the pain was excruciating. Her eyes began to water, but she couldn’t gauge if it was due to the pain that was coming from her obviously now broken nose or if she was just crying.
“We? Who’s we? You stupid bitch, think about it again.” He was seething; she could hear it in his voice. “Look at me!” He screamed in a deep, guttural voice that truly scared JJ.
She forced herself to look at him, finding it extremely difficult to keep her eyes open. Blood was dripping out of her nose and spilling over her lips. “It was me; I shot him, but I still don’t know what that has to do with you,” she spat out, struggling to speak through the pain and the blood that was filling her throat.
“He was my brother. You killed him,” he reached behind his back, pulling a gun from the waste of his jeans and slowly pressing the barrel against JJ's forehead.
“I didn’t kill him; he shot at us so-“ smack. He hit JJ across the face with the butt of his gun. She let out a sob; she was sure her cheekbone was broken now. The pain was almost unbearable; she was about to pass out.
“My mother killed herself because you killed him. I ended up getting put into foster care. I was 13, do you know what happens to kids in foster care?” JJ could barely hear what he was saying. Her eyes were closed, and she was about to lose consciousness. “Fucking look at me when I’m talking to you!” He screamed.
JJ let out a scream when she heard his gun go off. It was right next to her ear; her whole head went silent, her brain stunned by the loud noise of the gun. She had no idea if he’d shot her or not; the adrenaline running through her body made it harder for her to tell. “I’m looking, I’m looking, please,” she begged, doing everything humanly possible to keep her eyes on him.
“Emily Prentiss speaking,” Hotch heard through the speaker of his phone. His usual stoic persona faltered when he heard Emily’s voice.
“Emily, it’s Hotch. I need your help; we’ve got an emergency. It’s JJ,” he stated. He knew this could go either way; she could hang straight up once she heard the mention of JJ’s name, or maybe she’s moved on enough to hear him out.
“Hotch, you know I’d help you with anything, but JJ is where I draw the line." Emily sat at her desk, leaning back in her chair, sighing deeply at the mention of the woman’s name. It’d been 3 years since she’d seen, spoken, or heard about JJ. She’d well and truly moved on, but she couldn’t help the bodily reaction she felt when it came to JJ.
“She was kidnapped from the BAU’s car park; we can’t find her.”
Emily’s heart stopped; her stomach fell. Kidnapped? “How long has it been?” She asked, standing up, grabbing her bag, and walking out of her office.
“18 hours”
Her pace quickened when she heard that “18 hours?! Hotch, why didn’t you call me earlier?! I’m on my way.” She was already running down the hall of the building before she hung the phone up. This was not good.
“Just kill me; if you want to kill me, just do it,” JJ begged. She was losing hope. She had no idea how long she’d been here; the only thing she knew was that she’d seen the sun come up once, but she’d also passed out multiple times, so that really didn’t mean much. She was still sitting in the chair, covered in blood from her beat-up face. Her wrists were covered in blood from the zip ties.
“I don’t want to kill you. I want you to feel what I felt,” he said, coming up to her and kneeling down. “I want you to suffer the way I did.” His hands rested on her thighs, slowly moving them towards the waistband of her slacks.
JJ began to cry, frantically kicking her legs. “No, no, no, please no,” she pleaded. She used every ounce of energy she had left in her body to fight him off. She didn’t even feel the zip ties digging deeper into the raw wounds on her wrist. She screamed and cried, pleading for him to stop, begging him to kill her instead, but of course, he didn’t listen.
Emily’s hands shook as she held her gun, pointing straight at the unsub. He had his gun pressed up against JJ's temple while he gripped her hair tightly in his fist. She had to stop herself from looking at JJ; otherwise, she’d break, and she couldn’t do that. Not until he was apprehended, then she’d focus on JJ.
“Jeremy, it’s over. There’s no coming back from this. You need to let her go." Hotch said, stepping up next to Emily, his gun sturdier than the former BAU agent. “Jennifer was not responsible for what happened to you. Your brother was a serial killer. He was the problem.”
Jeremy hesitated, shaking his head and pulling JJ's hair tighter, but the woman was so out of it, she barely had a reaction. “No, it was her fault. It has to be her fault,” he cried. He distanced the gun slightly, as if he were going to back down.
Emily’s breath hitched as she watched his hand like a hawk. She saw his thumb quickly move and pull the hammer back on the gun. Emily didn’t hesitate; she focused in on Jeremy and pulled the trigger. She hit him directly in his right shoulder; he dropped the gun and fell back, hitting the ground.
The group of local cops ran in, cuffing Jeremy as he cried and tried to fight against them. He kept going on about JJ being at fault as they dragged him out of the room.
Emily put her gun away and ran straight to JJ. That’s when it finally hit her—how bad JJ actually looked. She was covered in dried blood; her face was completely swollen. Black and purple bruises covered her face like a mask. Her once white blouse was ripped open, revealing her bra and bare torso, which were completely covered in blood. She was naked from the waste down, her slacks sitting around her knees. “JJ, can you hear me?” Emily said dropping to her knees in front of her, her hand subconsciously moving to her neck to check for a pulse, her wrists not an option. Emily sighed in relief when she felt a pulse.
Emily turned to face the rest of the team, who were looking at them with worried looks. “Please, you have to leave,” Emily stated. She just knew JJ wouldn’t want her male teammates to see her like this. Hotch went to protest the decision, but the look on Emily’s face convinced him otherwise. “Not like this, Hotch, let me get her covered, please,” he nodded and left the room along with the rest of the team.
Emily quickly found a knife on a tool shelf that was against the far wall; she cut the zip ties off of JJ's wrists. Blood was getting on her fingers, but she ignored it, the state of her wrists taking up all her attention in that moment. "JJ, can you hear me? It’s Emily,” she tried again, her hand resting on JJ's knee.
JJ jolted awake, screaming and kicking, when she felt a hand on her leg. “Please don’t, please,” she begged, beginning to cry.
“JJ! Stop, it’s Emily. It’s me; I promise you’re safe. You’re safe, JJ,” she dodged JJ's kicks and held her shoulders gently. She was able to place a hand on the side of her face, trying to make eye contact with the woman. "Please, JJ, focus on me; I’m here.”
JJ's eyes frantically scanned Emily’s face, taking a moment to register who she was. Her legs stopped kicking, her body pausing as her chest was heaving from her heavy breathing. “Is it really you?” she choked out, her cries beginning again.
Emily nodded, trying to give her a comforting smile. “I swear it’s me, JJ; it’s really me,” she said, moving her blood-covered hair out of her face, trying not to hit any sore spots.
“You came for me?”
Emily nodded, tears welling up in her own eyes. She took JJ in her arms and hugged her, doing her best not to hurt her face any further. “Yes, I came for you, Jen; of course I did. God, I’m so happy we found you." Emily let herself cry now; she was so worried about JJ. The woman was missing for two days. She’d seen enough cases to know the odds are not favourable when someone is held longer than 24 hours. She was so thankful JJ was alive. “Is it okay if I dress you back up? Are you able to stand?” Emily stood up, holding onto JJ's arms.
“Yeah, I’ll try,” JJ groaned, standing on her shaking legs, but she was able to stay standing, holding Emily’s shoulders for stability. Emily pulled her pants back up, making sure to announce every little movement she was making. Not wanting anything to come as a surprise to JJ. “Are you sure I’m not hallucinating?” JJ asked, still trying to comprehend if Emily was real or not.
Emily chuckled slightly, buttoning up JJ’s blouse. “You’re not hallucinating; I’m completely real. Now let’s get you to the medic” she held JJ around her waist, JJ’s arm holding her around the neck.
“Who’s gonna ride with her?” The paramedic asked, holding open the door to the ambulance. JJ was already lying on the gurney inside; she was awake and alert, currently in conversation with the other paramedic.
Emily stepped back a bit, a little self-conscious now that her adrenaline had worn off. “You should go, Hotch,” she suggested. JJ hadn’t seen her in 3 years, and she was sure the familiarity between the two was minimal, probably nonexistent.
He shrugged and climbed into the back of the ambulance, sitting next to the gurney.
JJ stopped talking to the paramedic, looking at Hotch and shaking her head. The beeping from the heart monitor began to increase in speed. “No, I thought Emily was here.” She asked through a panic; she couldn’t see Emily anymore. Now she was back to questioning if she’d hallucinated the woman. “Where’s Emily?!” She freaked out, pulling off the finger monitor and trying to sit up.
“Hey hey! I’m here, I’m here, JJ,” Emily said after quickly jumping up into the ambulance. She gave Hotch a knowing look, and that was enough for him to understand and leave the vehicle. She swapped spots with him and instantly held onto JJ's hand. She was surprised at how tightly the injured woman was squeezing her hand.
“Don’t leave, please,” JJ pleaded, her tears leaving tracks on her bloodstained cheeks. “I’m not even fully convinced you’re real, but please, for god's sake, don’t leave.”
Emily nodded reassuringly, “I promise you, I’m real. Now just relax; I’m not going anywhere. I’ll be here the whole time.”
JJ relaxed a fraction as the ambulance started to make its way to the hospital.
“Hotch, I’m really worried about her,” Emily sighed, standing directly next to him outside JJ's hospital room. They were looking at her through the glass window; she was asleep for now. They cleaned her up and treated her wounds, the main physical damage being her broken nose and fractured cheekbone.
“I know Emily, me too. I don’t want to think about what he did to her." Hotch stood there, his arms crossed over his chest.
“What about Will? Has someone called him?” Emily asked, looking away from JJ to face Hotch.
“Em, JJ broke up with Will not long after you left. She never married him." Hotch thought Emily knew this. She obviously wouldn’t have heard it from JJ, but someone else on the team would’ve told her. “Did you not know that?”
Emily shook her head, looking back at JJ, who was completely still in the bed. “I actually didn’t know that. So she’s got no one?” She questioned. Her heart hurting at the thought of JJ being alone, especially after this.
“Romantically, no. She hasn’t been with anyone since Will, or you, I guess.” It didn’t take a genius to know that Emily leaving the way that she did really affected JJ. “She wasn’t the same after you left,” he said truthfully.
Emily had nothing to say about that. The memories of her leaving, fighting with JJ flashing through her mind. They used to hurt a lot, but now they just came and went. She used to be angry, but how could she be now? Not after what has happened. “I’m gonna go sit with her,” she said, choosing not to acknowledge what he’d said.
JJ suddenly became aware of her surroundings when the sedatives wore off. She groaned, acutely aware of the feeling in her mouth. It was dry and sticky, like she hadn’t drank anything in weeks.
“JJ? Can you hear me? Can you open your eyes?” She heard a muffled voice speaking, but the dull ache in her face was marring her ability to concentrate.
She opened her eyes, looking around the room, blinking hard to clear her blurry vision. “Penelope?” She questioned.
Penelope nodded and placed her hand on JJ’s knee. She jumped when JJ flinched and shifted her body away. "No, Pen, Penelope, I’m sorry,” she sobbed out, her body having a visceral reaction that she couldn’t stop. Where was Emily? She swore she was there. “I saw Emily; I think I dreamt of her,” she cried, turning on her side, away from Penelope. Her breathing was getting more erratic as seconds passed by.
Penelope jumped up, running to the door and swinging it open. “Em? Em quick, she’s freaking out.” Penelope waved Emily over quickly, the woman jumping up from her spot next to Hotch and making her way to the room.
“Jen? Hey, you’re okay; I’m here.” She walked quickly to the side of JJ’s bed, swiftly pulling the chair towards her with her foot, sitting down, and gently pulling her hands away from her face. “Can you look at me, JJ?” JJ’s eyes flashed open but closed just as quickly.
“You’re not here; I know you’re not here. I’m losing my mind; he made me lose my mind,” she cried.
Emily grabbed JJ’s hands and held them against her own face, never letting go. “Just breathe and feel my face; concentrate on what your hands feel.” After what felt like minutes, JJ was able to open her eyes again.
She let out a shaky breath, taking in Emily’s features. She just couldn’t comprehend that she was here; she hadn’t seen her in years. “You promise you’re here?” She whispered in a voice that was so broken, it shattered Emily’s heart. Emily nodded, promising JJ that she was there. “Please don’t leave me again, please.”
That hit Emily straight in the chest. 'Again,’ she knew she was referring to her leaving 3 years ago. She held JJ’s hands against her face, never feeling more guilty for leaving the woman all those years ago.
“I know hospital food isn’t very nice, but hey, how badly can you fuck up chicken soup?” Emily chuckled, placing the tray down on the portable table and wheeling it up to JJ. JJ gave her a small smile, resting her hands on the table in front of her. “Do you need help eating?” Emily offered, sitting at the bottom of JJ's bed.
JJ immediately moved her legs away from Emily, not wanting to risk her touching them. “Would you prefer me to sit in the chair?” Emily asked, noticing the shift in JJ's mood. JJ nodded, not saying a word. Emily moved to sit in the chair next to her bed; she could see JJ calm down significantly with the change of position. “JJ, what happened?” Emily asked, wary that JJ may not answer. She’d avoided asking her any questions about it the past few days, for obvious reasons.
JJ stared at her bowl of soup, using her spoon to play with the liquid as she thought deeply about the question. “Whatever you think happened, Emily, is exactly what happened,” she stated. Keeping her glazed-over stare aimed at her food, “However bad you think it was, it was worse,” she said, dropping her spoon on the tray and pushing the table away.
Emily stayed silent, blinking away any tears that dared to fall. Letting JJ speak at her own pace.
“At first I was fine; I could take the beating, but when I lost track of time and he wouldn’t let me sleep, I just lost it,” she said, dropping back against her pillow, hands going into her hair. Her voice trembled as she spoke more about what happened. “He kept firing the gun off right next to my ear; he was so mad.” Her hands landed on her ears, feeling as though she could hear the sound of the gun going off. “I begged him to kill me, but he wouldn't,” she cried, not being able to stop her tears. “He kept saying he wanted me to suffer the way he did,” she choked out a sob, getting worked up now.
Emily stood up, placing her hand on the side of JJ's face, knowing that that placement was safe for her.
“He was so mad,” she repeated, “he kept touching my legs while he was—oh, I’m gonna be sick.” She was breathing erratically now, choking on her sobs and crying.
“Sit up, Jayje, breathe, honey, breathe." Emily helped her sit up, resting one hand on her back and the other directly above her heart. “Slow JJ, breathe slowly,” she kept up the pressure of her hands, attempting to keep JJ grounded.
JJ’s breathing calmed as much as she could while she cried. She leaned into Emily, the brunette wrapping her arms around her tightly. Not needing any instructions to understand what JJ wanted.
Emily watched as JJ set her stuff down in her apartment; she looked uncomfortable and lost. She’d voiced a few times that she didn’t want to come back here because she didn’t know if Jeremy knew where she’d lived. Emily tried to tell her it didn’t matter because he was in prison and was definitely not getting out, but JJ didn’t care.
JJ sat down on her couch, mindlessly looking around. Her injuries had healed significantly. They felt better, but the bruises on her face still looked terrible, turning a bluey-green colour.
“Hey, we’ve got to talk,” Emily said, leaning on the kitchen bench, looking down at JJ, who turned to face her. Waiting patiently for Emily to continue. “You know I’m happy to stay here with you as long as you need me to, but eventually I’m going to have to go back to London.”
JJ straightened when she heard the words ‘back to London’ She shook her head. "No, Emily, you promised me you wouldn’t leave me again." Emily went to speak up, but JJ cut her off. She stood up, walking around the couch. “I know I fucked up before; I know I did. I admit that.” She stood at the bench, directly across from Emily now, who was just standing there listening to JJ's word vomit. “I let you go; I did. I let you go for 3 years, but I never stopped loving you, and you must still feel something for me; otherwise, you wouldn’t still be here." JJ's hands were flapping around as she spoke, as if the movements gave her words more meaning.
“Are you done?” Emily asked, standing up straight, hands still resting on the bench in between them.
“Well no, I guess what I’m asking is for you to come back, please?” She looked at Emily, not sure what she was thinking—the brunette's poker face was better than she remembered. “Now I’m done,” she added.
Emily nodded and couldn’t help but smile. “If you had let me finish Jennifer, I was in the middle of saying, I think it’d be a good idea if you’d come back to London with me." JJ's eyes widened, a smile playing on her lips. “Because I don’t want to leave you again, and I feel like you need a break from everything here." Emily stepped around the bench, coming over to JJ. She gently took the woman’s face in her hands. “I’d be lying if I said I didn’t love you, JJ; I do. So much”
JJ sighed with relief; it was the first time in weeks she’d felt calm. She pulled Emily into a hug, holding her tightly around the waist. She smiled into her chest when she felt her hug her back.
“So what’ll it be, JJ? How does London sound?” Emily mumbled into the top of her head.
“Anywhere sounds good as long as I’m with you.”

Today is not your best day. Things started going wrong the second you woke up. You slept through your phone alarms, there was no hot water for your shower, your coffee machine exploded on you which caused you to go change, and the bus was late to pick you up. You don’t own a car since you live so close to work that you can take the bus.
All of this is the reason why you have been chewing on your nails since the moment you got onto the bus, and why your hair is a tangled mess from you pulling on it. Not to mention you didn’t get a lot of sleep last night, so your eyes are a bit red.
You keep your head down when you walk into the bullpen. The B Team is in the air today, so you have a day of catching up on paperwork. If you’re lucky, you don’t have to talk to anyone. Everyone is in the break room getting their daily dose of caffeine so you quickly hide at your desk and pretend to be super busy so they won’t bother you.
When you log into your computer, a calendar notification pops up on the top right of the screen. When you read it, your blood instantly turns to ice. A chill runs down your spine as fear seeps into your skin. Just breathe, Y/N. You’re going to be okay. In… Out… You can’t seem to tear your eyes away from the notification so you wait until it disappears. It’s gone but the fear is still there.
There’s nothing to be scared of. No one dies from having their blood taken. A medical professional is going to be there the entire time. They know what they’re doing. They do it every day to millions of people. You’re being irrational. Then why are your palms sweaty, your heart racing, and your entire body shivering? Even the thought of being anywhere near needles makes your blood run cold. You hate needles. You hate what they look like. You hate the thought of one. You hate one making contact with your skin.
Even as a child, needles scared the shit out of you. You’d watch horror movies that involve them which would scare the shit out of you. People in those movies would always misuse them for nefarious purposes, and your little brain thought that’s what people actually did in real life. Nothing traumatic happened to you involving needles but something doesn’t have to be traumatic for you to fear it.
This is one of those times.
Emily walks in with two coffees in her hand; one for you and one for her. It doesn’t matter if you’ve made one for yourself in the break room because she always has the better kind. She sees you at your desk and hops over with a smile on her face.
“I have a present for you,” she sings. When you don’t turn to face her, her smile is lost. She sets both coffees on her desk and looks at you to see just how much of a mess you are. “What’s wrong? Are you okay?” All you can do is shake your head. “Would you like to go somewhere more private?” You nod. “Come on.”
She takes your hand and notices how clammy it is. You’re nervous about something and she is going to be there for whatever it is. She takes you to an empty office and closes the door to ensure privacy. If this were anyone else, you wouldn’t think about spilling but this is Emily. You have a massive crush on her and she is your biggest supporter in everything you do.
“I have an appointment today after work,” you whisper and look down. “I’m scared.”
“Of what?” she asks kindly.
“I have to get my blood drawn. I’m terrified of needles. I don’t know why I am. All I know is that I even think about them and my whole body freezes. I know it’s childish,” you sigh.
Emily gently grabs your chin and lifts it so you’re looking up at her.
“No fear is childish. If it scares you, then it’s real. It’s okay to be scared of needles. It’s not an uncommon fear.”
“But I don’t have a legitimate reason to be scared of them. I wasn’t traumatized or anything. I’m just scared of them.”
“That doesn’t matter. A fear is a fear and it’s valid because it affects you.”
“I don’t want to go to the doctor’s alone.”
“Who says you have to be alone?” she grins and sits next to you.
“You’d come with me?”
“I’d go with you to the end of the world if you asked me to. I’m going to be right there next to you,” she grabs your hand, “holding your hand.”
“Thank you,” you whisper.
“Anything for you. I mean it,” she smiles back.

Tumblr media
Jareau-Prentiss : Case Histories
This is my first 'case' in my series of Jemily one shots and multi-chapter instalments. They are all connected but won't be in any order. They will be all about the relationship between Emily Prentiss and Jennifer Jareau and the life they create together. It was span years of time. Some may follow loosely to some canon events but it should all become clear as you read and any changes I hope to explain in my writing as it comes up.
They will vary wildly in length and rating. Some will be short, some like this one multiple long chapters, some two shots and so on. Some will be rated T and some will go all the way to E. Some will contain smut, some will be fluff, some angst, some a mix of some or all of the above.
This is the first one I am posting
What happens when JJ decides on the 25th anniversary of her older sister's death that she will take Emily, her wife and their two young daughters to spend the long weekend with JJ's mother, Sandy. Will it help JJ's mother deal with her grief? Can a strained relationship between JJ and her mother be healed with the help of JJ's daughters presence. What will happen when before the anniversary date actually hits, JJ and Emily get called away on a case? Is leaving their young daughters with Sandy a smart move or could tragedy be lurking around the corner yet again?

I Do, Do You? chapter 2
WC: ~3,500 of fluff and small angst. Gratuitous use of figurative language It's probably a better read over on AO3
~After one short week, the wedding day has arrived! Our hopeful couples will finally come face to face with their betrotheds.~
Voiceover: “First impressions are everything, they are the standard by which we tell people to hold us. Whether they choose to believe it or not, how this first meeting goes will set the tone for their future interactions. How they present themselves and how they handle themselves today will create the foundation of the schema by which their partners view them and their relationships.”
Penelope looks around at the venue. The outdoor ceremony and reception are in a few hours; sunset, taking advantage of that very desired “golden hour” for filming and photos and then dining and dancing under the stars.
Production has chosen a neatly manicured grassy lawn bordered by maple and beech trees, the finely kept backyard to some historic Virginia property. Fairy lights crisscross and swoop above, and a rectangular marble dance floor is set into the middle of the area, later to be surrounded by long picnic tables lined with tealights and eucalyptus wreaths, but now holds rows of dark wood bench seating for wedding guests.
She likes the romantic details, clearly imagining the warm amber glow of the orbs above mixing with the soft twinkle of stars and lightning bugs, the sweet smell the humid night air will pull from the trees. The only disappointment is the shadowy figure her mind keeps drawing in place of a groom. Will he like her? Will she like him?
Workers and crew are buzzing around constructing the rose and laurel arch, arranging the petal carpet they’ll walk down, and setting up camera and microphone equipment. Penelope watches, staving off the same nerves she’s been mostly successful at ignoring all week preparing with dress, shoe, and accessory shopping, trying to write vows for someone she doesn't know, and deciding on the finer details of nails, makeup, and hair. This first impression could be the most important of her life, and while she wants to knock everyone’s socks off, she also wants to be as true to herself as possible. But with the day finally here and everything finally decided on, there’s nothing left to take her mind off what she’s about to do.
—-
Violins strike in the distance, Penelope squeezes her eyes shut swallowing down the acid rising in her throat, A hand tightens around her shoulder. “Pen? It’s time…”
Inhaling deeply, she opens her eyes, taking one last look in the mirror, checking her dress.
It’s a unique trumpet style gown made of a substantial, buttery, white matte silk satin, woven throughout with silvery blue threads that cast a glow. The plunging sweetheart neckline sweeps up into delicate off-the-shoulder illusion straps. The fine, white organic pattern seemingly floating across her décolletage isn’t so much what she’d call lace, but rather piped icing. The bodice fits like a dream, cupping her breast, and further down, clings to her hips, then flares out in a wide trumpet mid-thigh with five corners around the hem that kick up in swift peaks, every step making it look like the daturas her mom kept paintings of all over the house.
She knew the moment she tried it on it was meant for her, the top half a delicious, cakey confection, the bottom half an intoxicating and deadly flower.
“To hell with the show,” a deep cool voice calls from the door, “say the word and I’ll have us down the road in five seconds. Savannah took a separate car just in case…but you are a Goddess, any man would be lucky to find you walking up that aisle to him”
Penelope smirks, eyes still trained on her own figure, “Are you finally suggesting we run away together?”
“Penelope Garcia, it is your wedding day, behave.” he chides.
Her eyes connect with Derek’s, mischievous and smoldering, then JJ’s over her shoulder, she smiles, taking the bouquet of tall sunflowers from the dresser next to her, linking an arm with JJ’s. Something about this feels right. Something she can’t put her finger on. Or at least that’s what she’s telling herself. “Lead the way, my lady love.”
—--
There’s a light knock, fine knuckles rapping on wood. Luke, Matt, and Phil turn as Tara answers the door.
Emily’s standing in the doorway meeting them all with an apologetic look, her eyes cutting to Luke. They know what it means– new case. Killers don’t stop just because it’s inconvenient timing for agents.
“Look, you still have some vacation accrued…” she starts, “I’d approve the time off.” But he hears the ‘but’ in her voice, he knows the pressure they’re under, and with Reid away on family business, they’re already a man down.
He looks around the room at his friends and sighs, “No. I couldn’t leave all the fun to Matt and Tara. Do I at least get to see my bride walk down the aisle before informing her I’m ditching her?”
Coming from anyone else it would sound snide, but she knows he means it. She feels guilty that he means it.
“I’ll give you 24 hours to work some of that charm, you can meet us in Flagstaff tomorrow, my gift. I wouldn’t want her to dislike me immediately, but you know how time sensitive these things are.” She’s grinning, he can see the relief on her face, how the corners of her eyes loosen.
He wants to be mad. She of all people knows why he’s doing this, they’ve had this discussion specifically, but he can’t be mad, ultimately it’s his decision. He’s already retreating into the comfortable, he’s already going for the known unknown and making excuses for his choices. He wants to be mad, but he can only be mad at himself.
Phil pours another shot of amber liquid into a small glass and holds it out, “Come on, Emily, we were just about to toast the happy groom.”
He’s anxious, nervous, excited…and happy… If he doesn’t think about what he has to do tomorrow. He doesn’t know half the people here, and he won’t know the person standing up next to him, but he finds none of that really matters. What he knows is she’s adventurous, willing to take a risk, and hopefully, wants love, too.
Luke looks at the crowd of people that have gathered, his family and friends on one side, hers on the other.
His mom and sister, Isabella, and her two boys and husband are in the front row, Tara, Emily, Matt, Kiristy, and all their kids right behind them. He catches Matt’s small smile, a small comfort, before he quickly flickers back to her side, not wanting to be caught staring, but unable to resist the work part of him kicking in.
The people in her front row are three men and a woman. A petite blonde in a short flowing blue dress, her sister? is sitting next to a stern-faced black man in a charcoal suit husband? They’re both wearing rings, but… no. Next to him is an older man in a gray button down and black slacks, and next to him on the end closest to the aisle is a younger hispanic guy. An odd collection of family. The younger man doesn’t appear to share many facial features with the older man next to him or the blonde, in fact none of them look related at all, but they all sit like family, they all act like family. Behind them a woman in a dusty pink dress sits with a small boy playing with two blonde boys next to him, and beside them is a tired looking white man. Again, they don’t look like a family, but are acting like one. Her family and friends seemingly intertwined, the line indiscernible.
He’s about to say something, introduce himself, ease the building tension he can feel between the guests and the situation, her front row and himself, when a ladybug lands on the back of his clasped hands.
The tickle distracts him, and instantly, looking down, good luck springs in his mind. Looking up, he makes eye contact with his sister and holds out his left hand with the scarlet beetle vibrating its wings on his ring finger for her to see. He stays silent not wanting to startle it and send it off. As he does, the violins strike and procession music begins, the beetle, as if on cue, flys away.
Luke follows it’s ascent briefly down the aisle, and then his eyes land on a figure silhouetted behind doors in the distance, and as they do, a placid calmness takes over. There was nothing to worry about, his bride, his wife, his person, was waiting. Long ago he’d made his peace with fate, as a soldier you have to, things would work out the way they were meant to…some days it just took a small reminder.
The distance isn’t long, but she feels miles away, this striking woman walking towards him. There’s gasps and howls, applause and awes from in front of him as guests catch his expression and follow his line of sight.
Flowing blonde hair billows in gentle waves with her veil, her dress dances at her feet. His eyes drink her up and take in every detail, every curve, every angle and every texture. She’s wearing the most radiant shade of white, it’s beautiful and unusual, and all he can think is that she looks like the moonflowers he’d spend hours watching twirl, hidden under the shade of their branches as a kid in his grandmother’s backyard. She looks like memories long forgotten and mysteries veiled in night’s shadow and he’s more than intrigued and more than drawn and he’s more than wanting to take her in his arms and spin her until they’re both dizzy, like the flowers used to make him feel. And he feels, again, more than he’s ever felt, that this must be fate.
His gaze is intense, she’s been trying to hold it the whole way, caught in how the setting sun reflects off his bright eyes making them seem as crystal as fresh cracked rootbeer candy. He’s absolutely gorgeous, stunning, the living embodiment of “tall, dark, and handsome,” but there’s not a streak of darkness she can detect in his eyes shining back at her or his dimpled crooked smile bright like a lighthouse. She kicks up rose petals floating down the aisle, and as dumb as it sounds, in that moment she feels she like a ship lost at sea, and he, this stranger, is the beacon of light leading her to safe harbor…or a siren threatening to send her crashing into the sharp rocks under.
His smile starts off small, but the closer she gets the bigger it becomes, toothy and consuming, and she can feel hers by contrast shrinking smaller and smaller, the pit in her stomach, dormant, suddenly swelling larger and larger.
Now in front of him, so close, all these eyes, attention on them, on her, his attention on her- she breaks away looking down as discomfort shyness? takes over.
Too handsome, don’t stare. Looking at someone this close this long is wrong, like staring at the sun. Too much, try to focus.
But this is him! The man you’re marrying. You’re not reserved! You, Penelope Garcia, are confident and secure and you're every bit as shine worthy. Look. At. Him.
It’s dead quiet, awkward, she’s looking away, looking down, she won’t look at him. He wants to pull her back to where they were a moment ago, to alleviate whatever distress she’s feeling, to let her know they’re in this together. That she can trust him. “Hey,” he reigns in his stupidly large smile, heavily forcing it into a more acceptable, smaller thing and gently takes hold of her bent elbows, thumbs stroking her soft arms in a way he hopes she finds soothing, because he certainly does.
His palms are warm and the pads of his thumbs are rough, the touch sending sparks flying up her arms and through her chest, a sensation like thrusting on the light, but she still can’t will herself to look from the flowers in her hands.
Dipping a little, determined to draw her back, Luke introduces himself quietly, “I’m Luke.”
“HE SAID HIS NAME IS LUKE” is yelled to the guests by the man closest to the bride, some laugh. Penelope straightens up instantly, whipping around, “Carlos!” is hissed in warning, and the older man next to ‘Carlos’ smacks his bicep. Carlos only smiles, “Look at Luke, sis, he’s the one you’re marrying” then winks.
Penelope glares, but turns back, apricot lips spreading, tension eased, “I’m Penelope, nice to meet you, Luke.”
And just like that his megawatt smile is once again firmly in place, grinning at her like she’d just unveiled the secrets of the universe. “Nice to meet you, Penelope,” he nods, then looking over her shoulder, adds, “And you, Carlos.”
Penelope’s vows had been funny and charming, she was effortlessly engaging and endearing. Luke felt his own paled in comparison, but there wasn’t much he could do about it now. This next part was where he laid his cards, this part had been a point of contention in the family, his mother nixing it, Isabella taking Luke’s side, her husband taking their mother’s…
He shifts his weight as he makes eye contact over the paper, tucking it away, he takes Penelope’s hands. Looking into a stranger’s eyes shouldn’t be this comforting, but what he finds when he looks at her feels like the safest parts of himself. He isn’t sure just how long he’s been standing there getting lost in thought, or what his face is doing, but he notices a fresh blush on her cheeks and feels her give his fingers a squeeze prompting him to go on.
Playing it cool was apparently completely off the table.
Luke clears his throat and smirks, continuing, “Before we uh…before we go on, I want to be upfront and say, someone very important to me was left out of today’s ceremony, Roxy. I wanted her here, but some people weren’t sure how you’d react…I was going to have her stay home so you, my bride,” and he can’t help but smile when he says it, noticing how she smiles too, “didn’t get scared off, but she’s a big part of my life, I’d do anything for her, she’s my girl, my everything…I’m hoping you can make room for her in a similar way, eventually.”
As the words come out he sees the shift in her expression, eyes widening, jaw slightly dropping before resuming the indulgent smile, her hands becoming clammy and her body pulling away. The tell tale signs of panic and fear. It isn’t what she thinks-
Or at least he hopes it isn’t what she thinks. “Leaving her out feels like lying, so my friend Phil did me a favor and picked her up about an hour ago…Sorry, ma.” he says as he turns, then calls down the aisle in a deep commanding voice, “Roxy, com’on”
Penelope blinks and rocks back, jerking to face the same direction he is.
There’s no way he calls his kid like that, right?
Out from behind the left row comes a wolfish looking happy hound now prancing down the aisle, a dark green bow tied around her neck.
Trotting up to Luke, she stops short sitting on her haunches.
“This is Roxy,” Luke says before kneeling and fiddling with the bow.
Following suit instantly, Penelope kneels too, hands petting and face nuzzling her head. “She’s your dog? Roxy’s a dog Oh hello, you sweet girl.” she coos.
Rings free from the knot on her bow, Luke takes Penelope in at a much closer range, nose nearly brushing her cheek, her eyes scrunched up with the biggest smile he’s seen on her yet and it’s for his girl, it’s for Roxy. His lungs seize, momentarily unable to breathe, his heart clenching and his stomach flipping. He couldn’t have dreamed a better reaction, or a more beautiful sight.
Pocketing the rings, Luke stands, offering his hands to help his new bride back up, “We’ve got one last part to this, if you still want to…”
Slipping her hands into his, letting him right her, she agrees, “I do, do you?”
“-Aht.” the officiant cuts them off, “That’s my job.”
He notices her hand is trembling, or maybe it’s his holding hers unsteady, he’s so focused on not letting the emerald ring slip from his fingers he’s not sure what the rest of him is doing. Luke looks down, and it’s both, both of them shaking and he lets out a little breath. She’s just as nervous as he is. He notices her nails then, not an inch of her left unadorned, had been painted with white flowers.
Women appreciate it when you notice the details, mijo, calls in his head, his grandfather’s voice, compliment your bride.
“Perfection down to the tips of your fingers…I like your nails.” He says it quietly, something just for them, something the mic doesn’t even pic up on.
“Oh, thanks,” Penelope’s hand, instinctively jerking away, is held fast by Luke’s, “just don’t look too closely, I was up pretty late practicing my fingering techniques-” She says it loud and clear, a dismissive thought explaining away the chips at the edges. Loud gasps from who she assumes are his guests, and a deep “Oh shit” followed by giggles can be heard from hers. Luke chokes and blushes, letting go of her hands to cover his face, a weakly chuckled “oh my god” slipping between his fingers.
“-no! No.” Penelope corrects sternly to Luke and then the guests, praying the entendre not stick, urging they know it’s a misunderstanding. She grabs his wrist pulling down an arm covering his face, “-for my clarinet!” she explains, “Which I play!” then to the crowd, begging they understand, “My clarinet. I play the clarinet.” Her cheeks burn. She can’t believe she just did that in front of this beautiful man, in front of his family, in front of cameras.
Luke, eyes still shimmering with amusement, body shaking with laughter, nods, not trusting himself to look up. “Whatever you say,” he hums.
She shakes his wrists, pleading, “No- I’m serious,”
He does his best to straighten out his face, to let her know he’s taking her seriously, swallows and looks her in the eye, “I believe you.”
“Okay.”
“Okay,” he agrees.
The commotion dies down, guests ready for things to move on.
Everything else goes smoothly, the rings slide on (though she’s sure her fingers have swollen from stress), and they’re beautiful, and they fit.
They each breathe a sighing smile when they look between their newly adorned hands, but this is it, their first kiss, she and her new stranger. Butterflies suddenly blossom and take flight, Penelope watches as he moves in, wondering how this fine, adorable and impossibly perfect man will kiss her, if she’ll have to cover their faces with her veil, a kiss just as electric as she’s feeling from his fingers. Her eyes catch his, dipping briefly, and jump back up, he’s so close, her mouth parts…
And then he misses.
No.
Doesn’t miss.
He didn’t kiss her.
He kisses her cheek, and a terrible little thought flickers through her mind:
He doesn’t like you.
Delusional girl, you’re not his type.
Already this man, her husband, is rejecting her.
But despite the disappointment, she can’t help instinctively leaning in, eyes closing, gently rising on her toes and pressing her cheek to his lips and damn does she want that feeling just a little more south. He smells like heaven and feels divine, her fingers curl on his biceps and she thinks she feels his tighten on her waist. His lips are full and soft and firm. The musculature there in that brief contact enough to make her fantasize, even here in front of all these people, and for the first time she’s suddenly overwhelmed with the possibility that she’s made a massive mistake.
Fudge, Penelope, what did you get yourself into?!
When it’s time to ‘kiss the bride’, his anxiety comes back. He wants to kiss her, wants to feel the rush and pull of those playful, funny, pink lips, but he isn’t sure she wants that, if she’s ready for that, isn’t sure what’s right to do… kiss a stranger in front of her family? Kiss his wife in front of her family? Asking would ruin the moment, so instead, he makes a split second decision, ducking for her cheek.
The chaste option.
He tried to read her body language but couldn’t make up his mind, feeling hope, personal desires, might be playing a part, it just disappoints himself. He feels her pressing into his lips and gripping his arms, but everything about this has him mixed up, he can’t read if it was a welcome invitation or a move to control the distance.
At least it wasn’t a hug.

Old love
You and Emily are old lovers.
tw: swearing, cheating, smut, kinda public sex, alcohol
Tumblr media
Here you are, sitting at Rossi's for dinner with your team and your new girlfriend. But for some reason, you couldn't stop thinking about Emily. You wanted her to be jealous, you craved it even. But she just didn't care.
Although she didn't care, she sure couldn't stop staring at the two of you. You felt nervous, you didn't know why but you did. You just kept drinking your wine.
"So how long have the two of you been seeing each other?" You heard someone ask, breaking you from your thoughts.
You cleared your throat, "about a month now?" You saw your girlfriend nod out of the side of your eye, and she clinged onto your arm.
"Yes, and it's been great! Right, y/n?" She asked, rubbing your arm. You smiled, and nodded. You watched Emily as she shifted in her chair, trying her best to not show any emotion. She was good at it, but you knew her too well. You could tell it was getting to her.
Your team seemed to like her, "well welcome to the family!" Garcia said, clapping her hands. Emily rolled her eyes, getting fed up with everyone being in awe over your new girlfriend.
"Excuse me." Emily drank the rest of her wine before she got up and headed towards the kitchen. You wanted to follow her, but it'd be too suspicious. So you waited a couple of minutes, then excused yourself.
As you approached Emily, she had her fingers tangled in her hair as she leaned up against the counter. She sighed, turning around but she froze once she saw you.
"You okay, Em?"
She scoffed, "why do you want to know?" Rolling her eyes, she turned and grabbed another wine glass.
"Because unlike you, I actually care."
"And what's that supposed to mean, y/n?" You could hear the cockiness in her voice as she poured wine into her glass.
"You know what I mean."
Emily laughed, taking a sip of her wine as she turned around. "You think I care about your boring ass girlfriend? All she does is cling onto you and talk like a fucking hyper 8 year old."
You smiled, taking her glass from her hands. "There's the jealous Emily I know."
"I'm not jealous, y/n. You just could do better." Emily replied, taking her glass back.
You rolled your eyes, "Emily, I had better. Until you randomly decided to break up with me."
"It wasn't randomly."
"Then why? Enlighten me."
Emily sighed, drinking the rest of her wine before putting it down. "I broke up with you because I was falling in love and I was scared. It's hard to be in a relationship with another agent. Now that you're seeing someone else, I want to rip my hair out from jealousy. I want it to be me touching you, flirting with you, and telling everyone we're together."
"Well, who says you can't touch me?" You asked, getting closer to Emily. She tugged her lip between her teeth, knowing that drives you insane. You grabbed her shirt, pulling her into your touch.
You wasted no time as you slammed your lips onto hers. Emily ran her fingers along your chest, until she got under your shirt. You leaned into her touch, as she pulled your lip between her teeth. You knew how wrong it was, but it felt so fucking right.
Emily grabbed your waist, switching your positions so you were now against the counter. She roughly kissed your lips, but quickly pulled back, leaving sloppy wet kisses along your jawline leading down to your neck.
You leaned your head back, giving her better access to your neck. You felt her teeth against your neck, softly biting your skin. You untucked her shirt, needing to feel her skin, as you dragged your fingernails up her back.
Emily sucked on your skin before she lifted her head up, "you're so fucking lucky your girlfriend is in the next room, or else I'd have you undressed on this counter."
"No one's stopping you." Emily smirked as she slammed her lips against yours, and her hands were working on unbuttoning your pants. You needed her, but she loved to tease. She pushed your legs apart with her knee, pressing it against where you needed her most.
You let out a soft moan against her lips, making Emily bite your lip to shut you up. "Shut up. Your girlfriend doesn't need to hear your ex fucking you, does she?"
You nodded in response, starting to grind yourself against her knee. Emily had one of her hands on your waist, holding you in place, and the other pressing against your jaw.
"Emily, please.." You began to beg. The pleading in your voice, the desperation, it was music to Emily's ears. Emily smirked as her hands found your waistband. She slowly circled your clit, and she stopped every few seconds to tease you.
You held onto the counter, trying to push yourself against her hand. "Please, Emily. I need you."
"Since you asked so nicely," Emily whispered in your ear, pushing her thumb to your clit. Emily knew how to pleasure you, and how much you needed. She never failed to amaze you.
Emily's lips found your neck, biting and sucking your soft skin as her thumb ran circles against your clit. You bit your lip, holding your moans back.
You weren't prepared as Emily slid two fingers inside of you, moving them at a slow pace as her thumb hit your clit. You missed how good she made you feel, how fast she brought you to your orgasm.
Emily covered your mouth with her free hand, "as much as I love your pretty sounds, you need to be quiet. Not only is your girlfriend in the next room, but so is our team. I don't want them seeing you like this."
You nodded, trying to stay quiet. But as her fingers hit your g-spot, her thumb circling your clit, and her lips against your neck, it was too much. You felt a knot in your stomach, and you desperately needed to cum as the pleasure felt so fucking good.
"Hold it. Don't you dare cum yet." Emily said, biting your neck. You could barely think, or form a sentence. You needed to cum, you knew you couldn't hold it for long.
Her hand stayed over your mouth, your moans were getting louder as she kept slowing her pace down so you wouldn't cum. Every time you were close, she would slow down, making your legs shake in desperation.
"I love seeing you like this. You're a mess, you fall apart easily. How fast you cum for me, how desperate you are. How badly you want to cum." Emily mumbled against your neck, sending shivers down your spine.
You couldn't hold it anymore, and Emily knew it too. "Cum for me, my pretty girl." She whispered in your eat, biting your earlobe. You dug your nails into her arm, as you came against her fingers. You mumbled Emily's name against her hand, as you came down from your high.
Emily slipped her hand out of your pants, sliding her fingers into her mouth. "Oh how much I've missed this." You watched her, biting your lip. She was so fucking beautiful.
"You look like a mess, love. Let's fix you up before anyone sees you like this." Emily smiled, trying to fix your hair and her makeup that was on your lips.
After a couple of minutes, you two looked as best as you could be after she just fucked you. You prepared yourself before walking back into the room with your team, and your girlfriend.
You should feel guilty for just cheating on your girlfriend, but for some reason, you didn't. You were going to end it, maybe that's why you didn't feel guilty. She wasn't Emily.
Your girlfriend smiled as you sat back next to her, "what took you so long?"
"Sorry, must've drank too much." You replied, grabbing your wine glass. Your girlfriend burrowed her eyebrows, looking at your neck. She moved your hair, looking at what was there.
"What's that? That wasn't from me, so who was it from?" She asked, standing up. Oh shit. Fucking Emily. You looked at your team, they all had confusing looks on their faces. All but Emily. She had a smirk on her face.
You struggled to find words. You wouldn't lie to her, but your team couldn't know about Emily. You didn't know what to say, or blame it on.
"Oh, sorry. That would be from me." Emily raised her hand, drinking her wine. A few gasps dropped from our team, and my girlfriend looked sad. She quickly grabbed her things;
"I can't believe you would do this to me! And with your whole team right here?" She said before leaving. It was awkward now, the room was filled with silence.
"You owe me $50." Hearing JJ's voice tore you from your thoughts, lifting your head to look at your team. Of course they had a bet, why wouldn't they?
"Fuck, I was so close!" Garcia sighed, handing JJ a 50 dollar bill. JJ laughed, holding her hand out to everyone else at the table. They all rolled their eyes, handing her the money.
"A bet for what?" Emily spoke, her voice deep and filled with confusion.
Garcia smiled, looking at Emily. "We knew you two were sleeping together or something, then it stopped. We had a bet on when you two would sleep together again."
"How could you tell?"
Derek scoffed, "oh, come on. We're a team of profilers, it was so obvious. The way you two looked at each other, touching each other when you thought no one was looking. Or how Emily would get jealous, especially tonight."
"I was not jealous!"
"Then you wouldn't have slept with her in the next room. If you weren't jealous, you wouldn't have done anything with y/n." Garcia said, making Emily roll her eyes.
You loved your team, and you especially loved Emily. It was always going to be her, even if it took you a while to realize it.

Super Graphic Ultra Modern Girl
Pairing: Emily Prentiss x Jennifer Jareau
Word Count: 2.4k words
Summary: Inspired by the song Super Graphic Ultra Modern Girl by Chappel Roan.
Emily is a bartender and she sees JJ on a date with a guy that is clearly not going well. Emily being Emily, she suggests that her and JJ leave the bar and she can help redeem her Friday night.
Warnings: swearing, alluding to smut, not actual smut (sorry whores), alcohol, Emily in a red tank top lmaooo. I think that’s it?
Pictures from Pinterest. | 1 | 2 | 3 |
“Do you wanna dance?” JJ asked over the pulsing music in the bar. The room was dark, with red lighting flickering along with the beat.
The man she’d come with was sitting next to her, nursing his beer. “Oh no, no. I’m not a dancer,” he said, shaking his head.
JJ couldn’t hold back the eye roll. She instantly knew this date was over. She was looking for fun, and this guy was the complete opposite. She’d been trying to get a glimpse of his personality all night, but he was giving her nothing.
The guy awkwardly sipped his beer. “I’m just gonna go to the bathroom!” JJ raised her eyebrows, giving him a small nod, truly not caring what he did at this point. “Don’t spike my drink!” he attempted to joke, but it fell flat. JJ stared at him, unable to force any sort of reaction. He quickly took that as his sign to leave.
“I think you’re in need of this, sweetheart,” a shot glass filled with clear liquid appeared in front of JJ’s face, spilling slightly as the bartender placed it down.
The brunette woman who worked behind the bar placed a second shot glass down beside JJ’s. “And I’ll have one with you because I need it after having to sit here and watch that train wreck all night,” she said, pouring her shot with precision.
JJ lifted her shot, clinking it with the bartender’s, throwing it back with ease. The liquid warmed her insides, and she let out a light groan, her shoulders shivering slightly when the alcohol hit her stomach. JJ couldn’t help but smile at the woman, who took her shot without a single reaction to the warm liquor. “Didn’t think bartenders were allowed to drink on the job?” JJ leaned her chin on her propped-up arm, watching the other woman move around behind the bar.
“Not technically, but you needed rescuing,” she said, taking the empty shot glasses and tossing them into the sink. She effortlessly removed her waist apron and threw it into a basket under the bar. “I’m clocking off now. If you need me to whisk you away, I’d be more than happy to.”
JJ admired the woman’s confidence. The way she carried herself made JJ intrigued to get to know her. “I don’t even know your name, and you want me to leave with you?” A smirk flashed across JJ’s mouth, excitement rushing through her. The woman was the complete opposite of the man she’d arrived with.
JJ watched as the brunette woman hauled herself up onto the bar, sitting directly next to her. She leaned down, her mouth close to JJ’s ear. “It’s Emily. Now you know. Are we getting out of here?” She hopped off the bar, landing on her feet beside JJ.
JJ got up and grabbed her purse. “Should I wait for the guy? At least tell him I’m leaving?”
Emily laughed and grabbed JJ’s hand. “Sweetheart, let’s not waste any more of this night on a shitty first date. Especially with that guy.” She led JJ away from the bar, toward the exit.
JJ couldn’t help the giddiness that flowed through her as she gripped the woman’s hand and followed her out of the bar.
JJ’s chest thumped once they got outside, and she was finally able to get a proper look at the woman in the brightness of the streetlights. She was beautiful. Her pale skin contrasted against her dark brown, almost black hair. The woman wore boots, black jeans, and a red tank top, making her skin glow in a way JJ couldn’t quite grasp.
“Now usually I tell people to never waste their Friday night on a first date, but that’s too late. So what do you wanna do? How’re we gonna redeem your Friday?” Emily asked, motioning to the street and taking her eyes away from JJ for a second. “Club?”
“Yes,” JJ felt as though she would’ve blindly followed this woman wherever she wanted. There was something about the bold move she made that hooked JJ instantly.
“So is this technically our first date?” Emily looked over at the woman next to her as they walked down the street. She chuckled at her question, thankful the vibe between them wasn’t something she’d made up in her head.
“If you want it to be, it can be,” Emily replied with a slightly raised eyebrow, waiting to see what JJ would say. Emily almost melted when JJ smiled, her nose scrunching slightly in the center of her face.
“I might as well have one successful date tonight, even if this is the craziest start to a date I’ve ever had.” JJ knew it was slightly insane to be going off with this woman, but she felt safe enough. Emily had saved her from her train wreck of a date, so she thought she might as well make the most of it.
Emily chuckled to herself, noticing that JJ was already having a much better time than at the bar. She had been watching her most of her shift, and it was rough. JJ was trying to talk to him, but he must’ve been a bit shy. Regardless, Emily felt compelled to help the woman.
“So, what’s JJ short for?” Emily asked, looking at JJ as they continued to weave through the busy street together.
“Oh, uh, Jennifer. My last name also starts with J, so people just call me JJ.”
JJ halted when Emily came to a stop. “Jennifer? What a girl-next-door kind of name. How adorable,” she said, guiding JJ into a doorway leading down to what she assumed was a nightclub. The music was thumping and getting louder with each step they took.
Emily casually grabbed JJ’s hand, slightly taking her off guard, but she held on regardless.
“Hi Penelope! Care to do me a solid and let me and my new girl in?” Emily leaned over the desk, giving the girl at the computer a small smile.
The girl looked away from her computer, crossing her arms. “Emily, that cute smile isn’t going to work on me, but a few shots the next time I’m in your bar might?” Emily laughed and leaned over the desk, giving the woman a quick kiss on the cheek. “Deal! Thanks, Pen!”
Emily pulled JJ along. “Oh, and this is Jennifer!” she yelled quickly before they both pushed through the doors.
“Pays to know people, sweetheart.” JJ let out a small laugh, loving this woman’s personality. She was everything her other date wasn’t.
They made their way, hand in hand, toward the bar. The club was packed, every inch of the floor covered in bodies, dancing and having fun. Despite that, Emily held on tightly to JJ’s hand as they made it through the sea of people.
“What would you like to drink?” JJ shivered slightly when Emily’s arm landed softly on her lower back. Her breath warmed her ear as she spoke.
“Shots? I’ll have whatever you have,” she replied, her mouth just as close to Emily’s ear as hers previously was. JJ watched her as she motioned to the bartender, ordering their drinks for them.
The bartender poured two shots for the women before serving another customer.
“Do we not have to pay for them?” JJ yelled over the loud music, struggling to even hear her own voice. She grabbed her shot, following Emily’s lead and throwing it back quickly.
“Connections, Jennifer. What’d I tell you?” She winked at JJ, making the blonde’s stomach flip.
“Now how many women have you brought here on a first date?” JJ playfully asked.
“Not as many as you’d think.” Emily’s eyes traveled past JJ’s shoulders, checking out the dance floor. “Shall we go dance?”
JJ’s face lit up, making Emily smile. “Yes, yes! Let’s go!” JJ instantly turned to guide them to the dance floor. She let go of Emily’s hand after placing it on her hip so they wouldn’t lose each other.
When they hit the dance floor, JJ’s body was already moving along with the music. Emily couldn’t keep her eyes off her. She was infatuated.
When they finally found an opening in the crowd, JJ spun around, her body moving in sync with the beat of the music.
Instantly, it was as if there was an invisible pull between the two women. Their bodies got closer with each loud thump of the song. The closer they got, the temperature between them rose.
Anyone looking at them wouldn’t believe they’d only just met. Their bodies swayed to the music like it was muscle memory.
The beat of the song dropped a few octaves, making the bass heavy in a way that vibrated through their chests. JJ casually laced her fingers into Emily’s so both their hands were connected.
Emily’s heart skipped a beat when their faces became so close, their noses almost touching. She guided JJ’s hands to rest around her neck while her own hands snaked around her waist.
All the chaos around them suddenly drowned out and blended into the music. The only thing JJ was focused on was Emily. Her fingers moved into the brunette’s hair as she pulled her lips against her own.
Emily immediately kissed back, pulling JJ impossibly closer by her hips. It started off soft at first, but the connection they felt was hard to deny. Their lips parted, the kiss deepening with each passing second.
JJ pulled away, letting out a deep breath, their noses still touching, her hand still tangled in Emily’s hair. “Wanna find somewhere to sit?” she whispered against Emily’s ear, leaving a soft kiss on it as she spoke.
Despite the warm temperature of the club, Emily shivered in response to the kiss JJ pressed on her ear. “Let’s go.” She grabbed JJ’s hand and led her to a quieter corner of the club. She saw a vacant seat in the corner, but there was only room for one. Emily sat down and, without a word, pulled JJ to sit on her lap.
JJ laughed, immediately wrapping her arms around Emily's neck and leaning down to capture her lips.
One of Emily's arms snaked around JJ's waist, pulling her body closer. Her other hand rested softly on JJ's neck, holding her still as she kissed her back.
Their lips moved together perfectly, despite having just met that night. The shared kisses between them made both women equally excited.
JJ let out a moan that vibrated against Emily's lips. Their movements became more urgent, more desperate. Both women tried to get closer to the other, but there wasn't a single inch left between them.
Emily held JJ's waist against her, hands roaming her body, trying to feel her curves and commit them to memory, not wanting to forget a single thing.
"Wanna get out of here?" Emily breathed out, momentarily pulling away from her. JJ nodded, both hands tangling into Emily's hair, slightly pulling her head back so her face was tilted up towards her.
"Fuck, you're gorgeous," JJ mumbled, kissing Emily again. She wanted to get out of the club, but she couldn't keep her hands off the brunette.
Minutes passed, the kiss a complete display of desperation.
When they finally separated their swollen lips, their breathing was noticeably uneven. "Let's go," JJ slipped off Emily's lap, pulling her up by her hands.
Emily couldn't help but smile as she looked JJ up and down. Her mind was racing with all the possibilities of how the night would continue. "Lead the way, sweetheart."
The two women left the club and walked down the street hand in hand.
"So, has this night been better than you thought it was going to be?" Emily asked, snaking her arm around JJ's waist as they walked.
JJ couldn't help but smile at the shivers she felt when the other woman held her firmly around her hips. "Oh, so much better. Seriously, thank you for such a fun night," she smiled up at Emily, stopping in the middle of the footpath.
"I mean, it doesn't have to end now, you know," JJ stated, feeling herself fold slightly inward, her confidence disappearing momentarily, worried about what the other woman would say.
Emily's eyebrow raised, chuckling slightly at JJ's sudden coyness. "Jennifer, darling, are you insinuating that I sleep with people on the first date?" she teased, now having both arms around JJ's waist.
JJ's cheeks deepened to a light shade of pink. "No, not insinuating, kind of hoping?" Her head lolled to the side, her face scrunching in embarrassment. "You did say never waste a Friday night on a first date, so I'm really trying not to waste it."
Emily's hand lifted to rest on the side of JJ's face. "You're so fucking adorable," she whispered, pressing her lips to JJ's.
She could tell how nervous JJ was, but when she parted her lips, deepening the kiss, she could physically feel the other woman relax. "Let's go."
They ended up at JJ's apartment, Emily following her inside and taking it all in.
She didn't expect her night to end this way, but she also didn't want the night to end anytime soon.
JJ watched as Emily looked around the apartment. The brunette woman sat down on her couch, smiling when she realized JJ was watching her.
"Your apartment is so cozy," Emily said, tucking her legs up on the couch and hugging her knees. "I could sit on this couch for hours and watch movies."
JJ made her way to the couch and dropped down next to her. "Are you saying you want to skip the sex and put a movie on?" she questioned, teasing Emily.
Emily laughed, shaking her head. "I mean, I don't see why we can't do both?" She smirked, her legs dropping as she pulled JJ onto her lap in one swift movement.
JJ laughed loudly as she straddled Emily's lap. "You're something else, aren't you?" She wrapped her arms around Emily's neck, her fingers tangling in her hair.
Emily's hands traveled along JJ's body, feeling every curve. "I'm so glad that guy didn't have what it took to be with a girl like you."
JJ let out a breathy laugh, hungrily kissing Emily's lips. She felt eternally grateful that she didn't get stuck with her original date because Emily was exactly the type of person she wanted to be spending her Friday night with.

hi, guys!!
i’m finally getting motivation to write and this is a little sneak peek of a fic that’ll probably be posted very soon <3 snippet below the cut
When Aaron and Emily begin dating it’s all about sneaking around in each other’s offices and kissing in the car. There’s something so very satisfying and special about them being a secret. About the secret glances they send to each other at work, both of them knowing something no one else did.
What Aaron loves most about their relationship, though, is that he’s realized he can read Emily even better now. He used to think he understood her every movement; every glance at the ground, every mental sigh, every lip bite.

I am looking for two hotchniss fanfics these are their descriptions from what I can remember I don’t remember the people who posted them or titles so I’m begging the hotchniss fandom to PLEASE help a girl out cause I’ve spent literally all day search for them (no joke I spent the last eight hours scrolling through all my likes to find them my screen time will prove it)
Fic 1: Emily was interrogating a perp who killed pregnant women and Emily was like almost due or smth and she starts having contractions while interviewing the unsub and when he finally confesses she comes out and says that she’s in labor Derek and Aaron are all pressed that she didn’t listen and went in anyways
Fic 2: this description is a little more vague but it’s set in the s7 finale where Emily and hotch are dancing, their relationship is still secret and she’s thinking about leaving since they haven’t been together long or doesn’t want to be a secret. Hotch kisses her on the dance floor to convince her to stay so she does (Beth didn’t exist in this fic)
