Nickelodeon Movies' critically aclaimed computer-animated film is coming to 4K on June 4!

I always had a hunch they'd release this movie on 4K sooner or later. Unfortunately, there's no Dolby Atmos track on this upcoming 4K release, as it'll be reusing the Blu-ray's DTS-HD Master Audio track instead, which seems pretty lazy in my opinion; missed opportunity.

I honestly would have been with just Shrek and Shrek 2 as the only Shrek movies on the 4K format, but I don't mind the inevitably of the rest of the Shrek movies arriving on 4K for the entire fanbase and format collectors.

When I first came across the official artwork to Shrek the Third's 4K cover posted by Shrek History on Twitter, I thought it was pretty lackluster as they used a render of Puss from the first Puss in Boots which I could tell from his hat; I were to make the cover, I would have gone with adding Artie next to Shrek since he was one of the main characters of the movie.

Ogre-all inclusion, Another Paramount-released DreamWorks title under Universal with DTS:X and not Dolby Atmos, I'll gripe yet be happy for the fans.

I somehow predicted Shrek to be on 4K back in October 2020, now I must have predicted Barnyard to be on Blu-ray!

And I say that since it was gonna happen sooner or later, especially with the sequel on its way.

I really wasn't expecting the cover to be the same as the DVD cover, but when you find that the 4K cover of The Croods (2013) has the same cover art like the DVD and Blu-ray, it was a dull surprised; the 4K's back cover is a little different from the DVD and Blu-ray, in case you were wondering.

While it's nice that this is happening, I still don't find myself okay with Universal retconning the existence of the previous distributors Paramount Pictures and 20th Century Studios by plastering its logo at the beginning which is pretty ridiculous since it hadn't distributed that film back then; just because it currently owns the rights to that film, doesn't mean you gotta pretend the previous distributors weren't there.

Tangent over.

Anyway, quite the inclusion every Shrek fan will want (if they have a 4K player and 2160p format television).
