henrik wasn’t religious at all and yet he had felt somewhat a pull to be in the church. eyes examining his surroundings for a moment, further settling into the pew. his attention broken for a moment as he heard someone speaking to him.

eyes resting on the other for a moment and there was a mere shrug of his shoulders. “no, not that I can think of.” he spoke, a pause for a moment. “i’m just sitting..and if I needed advice i would ask elsewhere.”

Despite it being way earlier in the afternoon that he'd intended, the preacher had been in the back of the church, drinking some of the communion wine. It had become a bit of a habit for him; finish a sermon, drink some wine, do paperwork for the church, drink the rest of the bottle of wine, go home, sleep it off, repeat the next day.

However, today was a little more different. Hannes had been drinking, as usual, when he heard the front door of the church being open. Quickly he rounded the corner, his dress shirt unbuttoned at the top and his tie hanging over his shoulders. Where was his suit jacket? No one knew, not even him. He noticed someone walking through the threshold and sitting in one of the seats.

"Is there something I can help you with, my child?" He asked softly, moving over to sit down next to them, hoping he could be helpful (for once).

Eris wasn't exactly sure what brought him into the doors of the church that night. Maybe he'd just been looking for a way to get out of the chilly night air. Maybe he'd just needed a breather after standing behind the counter all day at work. He wanted to go home and sleep, but he knew he wasn't going to actually rest. He'd sleep for maybe two hours, three if he was lucky, and spend the rest of the night grumpy and feeding his caffeine addiction.

In spite of being around people all day, Eris got lonely. He wanted to have someone he could talk to about his day. To make him feel less alone and cold. It came and went. He could ignore it most of the time. But when it got bad, it had him looking for friendly faces in stupid places. He'd never been that good at talking to people, or making a connection. It was hard for him to learn to trust people after the things he'd seen in his long life.

Last time it got bad, he'd spent his time drunk and high and tried to make friends with the bartender. He'd been on his way to the bar when he noticed that the light was on in the church he was passing by. That struck him as odd. He'd come inside, only to find a priest sitting in a pew, sipping on communion wine.

"Can I get some of that wine?" Eris asked, coming in the door and sitting next to the man. "I've never been inside one of these places before."

"Please don't call me child, I'm in my thirties." Bejo said quickly. "Second I'm not that much of Christian but you seem like the most helpful guy here."

Bejo clicked his tongue and looked away. He was raised in an interfaith household and neither choice at the time appealed to him. He believed in God but if you asked him if he was Muslim or Christian he would be stuck on an answer.

"If I confessed something weird you wouldn't go tell the authorities or anything right?" He said. "Nothing illegal or harming myself or others." That he would confess, he googled that beforehand. "Just something I need to get off my chest."
