I know the rule of three kind of gets in the way of this, but I really wish we got to see one more audition tape in trial 6. Shuichi is a good pick to introduce the horror of the concept, and Kaede and Kaito were both great picks to show how their words of encouragement were "scripted" by Tsumugi, but it feels a little Shuichi and Maki centric. Like, yes, Kaede and Kaito had a big impact on everyone, but mostly on Shuichi (and Maki with the latter). It also makes sense on a meta level, since the game needs to get an emotional response not only from the characters but from the player. The games writing kinda lends the player to being very emotionally attached to either Kaede or Kaito, which makes this scene work better.

THAT BEING SAID. A Tenko audition tape would've been really really cool to put the spotlight back on Himiko and her arc for a moment and plunge her deeper into despair too, maybe moreso than with just seeing the Kaito and Kaede tapes.

DRDT Chapter 3 Predictions

(Spoilers for DRDT and canon DR)

Something I've noticed in chapter 3 of the canon DR games (aside from the double victim trope) is the pre-established rivalry between 2 of the deaths. Kiyotaka and Hifumi, Mikan and Hiyoko, Angie and Tenko - all had an ongoing conflict before they died. The third death is a character relatively uninvolved in said conflict.

I wonder what this means in the context of DRDT, assuming the series will follow this trope. Currently, the most prominent rivalry is Ace/Nico, but it doesn't make much sense to kill Ace off right after the failed murder attempt.

The other conlict is Arturo/J. I doubt Arturo will forgive J for revealing his secret. By next chapter, I'm pretty sure their dislike will be mutual. It's worth mentioning that DRDT seems to be following THH's motives, with an interesting twist. By this logic, chapter 3's motive will involve money. Another DR tradition is the third blackened having an unsympathetic motive (or being a generally threatening person, in the cases of Korekiyo and Celeste).

It's been hinted that Arturo greatly values money and material goods (as evidenced by his line - "You have fame, talent, money, and natural beauty," in ch2 ep 4. Also, the fact that Arturo didn't consider J beautiful before he learned about her family confirms he equates beauty to status.) The only other character that could be affected by this motive is Rose, but given the direction her character is going, I don't think she'll end up as a culprit. I can easily see Arturo having a selfish murder motive, given his personality.

Blackened or victim, I'm almost certain chapter 3 is Arturo's time to go. It's usually the time when 'oddball' characters with weird beliefs/motivations, or characters' whose absence sets a more serious tone for final chapters, tend to die.

As for chapter 3's third death, I'm leaning towards Veronika. She doesn't have an active role in the Arturo/J conflict, and she seems quite infatuated with Arturo. Arturo could use the latter to his advantage, maybe by convincing Veronika to become his accomplice. I don't think she would object to that.

One of the killing game's rules caught my eye - "All murderers must be held accountable for their crimes." This could mean many things, but now I wonder if it could refer to a double blackened scenario.

In any case, I believe Arturo and J are dying in the next chapter.

so there are like, several versions of this ship in my head and I think that's one thing that makes it so fun. It's kind of similar to how you how you can do a lot of different things with Miya too I think there's a lot of potential if you do something with their pre-game selves (if you want there be an equivalent to Miya in reality)

Pre-game Tenko is very cute to me and it's fun to imagine her developing a crush on her. Since all of pre-game Tenko's sprites are her flustered expressions I like to imagine she's more of a girl failure. When comes to things closer to in-game, I also found it a shame that there's no dialogue in the base game, UTDP, or DRS where she finds out about Miya's existence. I honestly think it'd be a toned down and more genuine version of Mikan's dialogue about Miya. She'd find about her being sick and wanted to protect/take care of her. I've always thought that Miya would find her behavior cute and kind of spoil her which causes Tenko to get flustered which Miya would also find cute so it's a bit of a cycle. Of course there's the more toxic yuri angle, but I've always imagined things to be a bit tame between them. Miya/Angie has always been the ship with more entanglements just due to the kind of person Angie is. I have a very complicated AU that's like a Miyadera and Korekiyo role reversal where Miyadera is still the killer for the chapter 3 equivalent with Tenko still being one of her victims. In this scenario, Tenko would believe In Miyadera's delicate innocence until the very end and letting her guard down around her is her undoing really.

tenko/tomura and fenrir: similarities

Welp. I consider this my proper post for the MHA fanbase, as I've been a lurker because the fanbase can be... something! If you wanna know more about me, pinned post!

Anyways, I've been thinking over the past couple of days of how strikingly similar Tenko is that of the figure of Fenrir in Norse Mythology. Also, if I DO get anything wrong in terms of Tenko, please let me know! My memory is shit and this manga is 400+ chapters long.

The thing with Fenrir is that his fate was already pre-destined, in a way. One of the seers told Odin that Fenrir would be apart of Ragnarok and being told to "swallow the All Father," as so as been told. Fenrir's tale already starts with tragedy. Being separated from his mother, his sister Hel was taken to... Hel, to be imprisoned in there, in a way. His brother, Jörmungandr, a regular snake was tossed into the sea, with hopes of drowning him. Instead, he grew so large, he became the Midgard Serpent, or World Serpent. For those who don't know, Midgard is our world within Norse mythology. But, the Gods had a different plan for Fenrir.

They decided to take Fenrir with them and to keep an eye on him. The one who took care of him the most, and cared for him the most was the God Tyr. The God of War, and even Justice. He was formerly apart of the Æsir. Also, something to note of, Tyr is also a God of Justice. So, Fenrir is raised in Asgard, home of the Gods and Goddesses, and fallen soldiers. Fenrir was a very happy, excitable pup who loved having a lot of fun. However, the wolf pup seemed to grow quite larger and larger. This worried the Gods, and because of the prophecy that Fenrir would eat Odin, they put together a plan to trap the wolf.

The Gods disguised their efforts as a game for Fenrir. Fenrir, the excited wolf he was, loved playing games. So, for this first "game", they chained him to a rock. It was a contest of sorts to test his strength. Even then, Fenrir broke through the chains. The chains weren't strong enough to hold the wolf down. So, the Gods turned elsewhere.

To the dwarves. They asked the dwarves to make the strongest chains, ever. This chain was quite different from the others. It looked more something like a ribbon. In some different stories, this happened twice before the ribbon idea. And naturally, the third time this happened Fenrir is suspicious and isn't sure what's going on. The wolf agreed to only be chained, IF only one of them would placed a hand in his mouth.

Tyr, the closest God to Fenrir to him offered his own arm up. Then, Fenrir couldn't be freed. He couldn't get out of his bindings, and thus, bite off Tyr's arm. Then, they teleported the wolf far away, and placed a sword within the wolf's mouth so he couldn't use his jaws. Then, it's said that the only way Fenrir will be free is during the destruction of Ragnarok. Odin confronts the beast on his stead with 8 legs, Sleipneir.

He will swallow Odin whole. However, Odin's son wouldn't let this stand. Vidarr would slay the wolf with his magical boots, splitting the wolf's mouth in half, thus his fate had befallen him.

I promise, there's a reason why I gave a lot of the backstory, we'll get into it!

Tenko, since birth, had his entire life planned and trapped by literally one of the most awful people to ever exist. It didn't help that his father would emotionally berating him, leaving him outside. Even physically abusing him when he was 5 or the people in his life who were suppose to protect him, being bystanders. While Tenko does love his family, the bystander effect is very real. Or no one on the streets helping a bloodied, orphaned child on the streets.

Wondering for days and many nights without shelter, home, and food. That is, until All For One "found him and took him in." I.e. kidnapping his grooming victim, and then molded and neglected this kid for literal years until the LOV came around. I could go on about how much of a brillaint character Tenko is, but so many people have done that already and I wanna get into the meat of this.

Tenko and Fenrir were both happy, hopeful people who were molded and shaped by the very environments they were made in. Even before birth. For Fenrir, he was destined to be this destroyer of the world, and bring an end to a mighty King of Gods. While Tenko was going to be All For One's next vessel. The next Symbol of Fear. Both Tenko and Fenrir were molded into being their own separate Symbols of Fear.

Fenrir and Tenko never had a chance. Fenrir and Tenko never had a chance since birth. Fenrir and Tenko's destinies were already pre-determined. Both were left to rot by the societies they both were in, and no one bothered to give a helping hand. With Tyr, he did give justice, in a way. He had to deal with the consequences of his own inaction when he placed his hand into Fenrir's mouth. They both got something the other wanted, in a way.

Fenrir got some semblance of justice. While Tenko did gain friends, in the end. All Fenrir and Tenko (before his hatred was destroyed) thought they could do was bring destruction, violence, and chaos onto the world. I mean, fuck. They weren't taught anything else. I remembering reading a comment on a YouTube channel going over Fenrir's mythos and some others, and it perfectly sums up their situation.

The Gods just created their self-fulfilling prophecy. That is something that can absolutely be applied towards the heroes. Instead of trying to PREVENT Fenrir from being this symbol of destruction, and treating him nicely because of the prophecy, they decided that Fenrir was evil from the get-go and already plotted of leaving him to rot when he was a fucking pup. It was said of being a hopeful, happy pup who just loved to play games with his family. If someone had stepped in and actually HELPED Tenko, he wouldn't be dead.

(Or supposedly dead, with that one mysterious guy.)

If someone didn't ignore and just swept the problem of a stumbling, scared, child, they could have prevented so much. And now with Tenko being dead, they just created a self-fulfilling prophecy of another Symbol of Fear being groomed again.

Fenrir and Tenko were just two kids who were happy and hopeful of their world, and their innocent got snatched away from them from their respective societies. At the start of it all, they were just kids who loved their families.

How do you think the V3 cast would feel about their pregame selves if they were in the same room with them? (mainly Shuichi because at the least the fans gave him a personality. Like...I don't know if it's canon, but it's something to work with)

I know pretty much nothing about the pregame characters.

I feel like Pre Kaede just teases her for being "soft and pathetic."

Shuichi: Both just stare uncomfortably for a while.

Before Pre Shuichi, noticing Shuichi's hair, straightens up and asks if his pitch to take out Kaede worked.

Shuichi, horrified shoots all that down that he would never.

Pre Shuichi just rolls his eyes like "God your lame, it's just a game man. And now, I'm the star of it."

Shuichi just slowly shakes his head and leaves to find his friends.

Kaito: Pre game Kaito is cocky, loud and even more boisterous than Kaito.

Keeps asking what their earnings are but Kaito doesn't know what he's saying.

It's a bit off putting but they appear to get along.

Kokichi: Pre game Kokichi is a nerd about the show.

Kokichi is slowly getting answers out of his more serious counterpart.

Both keep talking about how cool Monokuma is...

And everyone's thinking of ways to seperate em.

Kirumi: Pre game Kirumi just kinda looks at Kirumi like dirt. Just ugh they made me the maid?

Kirumi smiled politely... And murderously.

Gonta: Both cinnamon rolls, both gentleman.

Pre is more articulate but they are both bonding.

It's adorable.

Miu: The opposite of Kaede, Pre Miu is a sweetheart so she's getting teased by Miu for being "a soft prude with no tits."

Keebo likes her well enough, to Miu's annoyance.

Angie: Pre just looks at Angie in annoyance like "... I made one mention of my god and they made it my whole personality...."

Korekiyo: Pre instantly quizzes him on various topics in anthropology.

Just to make sure he's as smart as him.

They have fun with it...than Korekiyo mentions sister and Pre looks at him all werid.

"I don't have a sister..."

Awkward.

Tenko: Pre takes one look at her and just walks away.

Mumbling about needing to have some words with the development team... Because what is that?

Himiko: Himiko just takes a nap and Pre just nods, mood and takes a nap as well.

Rantaro: Both get on pretty well.

Rantaro makes the mistake of asking why Pre would do this...more than once.

Keebo: Keebo was excited to meet his Pre self but... He's very rudemantary.

Can't really say much other than a few phrases so... Its just a bit awkward.

Maki: Pre Maki finds Kaito annoying and hates the whole romance plot shoved in.

Just rants about it but she's happy they let her be a kick ass assassin "and not some dumb child carer."

Maki is just silently listening, couldn't get a word in even if she tried.

Is pissed about the not liking Kaito thing.

Ryoma: Just silently vibe with each other.

Tsumugi: Both squeal when they see each other.

Clasping hands and whispering details, just all excited and secretive.

"Wait don't tell me, you're gonna write unheard lines.

Pre is very happy with Tsumugi, and the more extroverted of the duo.

Both are just fangirling each other.

in the Danganronpa fandom you can't really use Moral Purity Tests to determine which characters you are and are not allowed to Like. almost every character has done/said something really nasty or questionable Canonically, whether justified or not, even if they Atoned for it.

POST GAME HCS... Let me see...

I always get hung up on talking about this kind of thing cause there's so many little details for how post game might work that alter how I think characters might deal with things that its kinda hard to nail down. But there is some general stuff that stays the same.

I think Gonta's desire to be useful would not have changed with his death. He's probably just as eager as before to help anyone who needs him. I headcanon that he's one of the first ones back on their feet after waking up from the simulation (just because he was physically very very fit before) so he tries to dote on anyone who lets him.

Gonta isn't the kind of person to avoid someone because he feels guilty or awkward. He would Immediately try to find Miu and apologize profusely, crying and all. Im not sure how she would react to all this... I've seen some people say she would be hesitant around him or flat out reject any of his apologies, and some say that she wouldn't blame him much and instead put most of it on Kokichi. Regardless, I don't think they'd be close post-game.

Now this depends on if they all woke up together or woke up concurrently and watched the game as it continued without them. In my headcanon, they woke up all together. In which case, Gonta would not hate Kokichi. Based on their last interactions before his death, Gonta would probably feel closer to him than ever. But (as I kinda got into in the fic I wrote) I don't think Kokichi could stand being around him At All after everything. I think after baring himself a bit in ch5 he would wall himself off completely. And that means cutting Gonta off. I think Kokichi would lash out and say whatever cruel things he would need to to get him to stay away from him. Which of course would really hurt and confuse Gonta, especially having never seen the ch4 post-execution.

I've talked about it before but I also don't really think Gonta wouldn't have many places to go when it comes to joining the others? My post-game friend groups (read: lunch groups) kind of look like this:

•Shuichi, Maki, Kaede, Kaito •Himiko, Tenko, Angie (wary truce between tenko and angie) •Miu, Kiibo (who wanders a bit) •Kirumi, Rantaro (also wanders, especially to shuichi's group), Ryoma (also wanders) •Korekiyo (solo) •Kokichi (largely absent) •Tsumugi (SOMEWHERE ELSE)

Gonta could join almost any of these groups and be welcomed with open arms, but it really doesn't feel to me like he fits neatly into one consistently. The groups that exist are tight, and despite being close with one or two of their members he's not like. explicitly invited I feel. If Gonta didn't show up, no one would really question it.

Post-game Korekiyo... is complicated. If he wasn't actually a serial killer, then I think him and Gonta could hang out a bit. But Kiyo has always preferred to be an outside observer who appreciates his alone time, and Gonta would respect that.

Basically, I just feel Like Gonta would be pretty lonely postgame. The major threat of the killing game (that he can face with his physical strength) is gone, so he would really struggle to find his place in the group. It would probably worsen his pre-kg and post-kg related self esteem problems.

One last thing: I like to think that Gonta still doesn't remember the virtual world, but a strong trigger could cause the memories to come back. For angst purposes, of course. Regardless, he would have a complicated relationship with the snow. I think he would just feel this inexplicable sense of dread at the sight of it.

Personal HC: the reason Tenko and Maki look like clones of each other is because their actors were cousins pre-game. This had to be taken out of the actual v3 script because Maki is supposed to be an orphan.
