Hurricane Eta issue in Honduras

Hello, this is Kency, the girl who made that huge ass post about what is happening right now in Honduras because of hurricane Eta. I shared the links of GoFundMe and PayPal of actual honduran citizens and not government or state organizations for a reason. And that reason has been happening for way too long already. First of all I’d like to talk about the embezzlement that is going on right now with the hurricane situation. The government knew from the beginning that the hurricane was going to cause huge destruction, but they instead decided to promote the Morazanic holiday (a week of vacation we celebrate by going to the country’s touristic places) because the money that is received by the tourism sector is huge. They never issued the alerts of evacuation. So here we have the consequences, because they wanted the holiday to happen in the middle of a pandemic and a hurricane just for the money. Now that we are in this situation all the politicians have dissapeared, all of the ones that promised help to the honduran people. And abandoned by the governt who have done nothing, the president of El Salvador, Nayib Bukele offered help to Honduras by sending supplies and 100 rescuers, to what the government and the asshole of a president we have oppossed. After the pressure, protests, and taunts they let them come inside our country. After this issue the government decided to be clowns and “donate” a survival kit valued in 46k lempiras (national currency) that actually costs 4k Lempiras. There are hundreds of testimonies of citizens and micro entrepreneurs thave gone to shelters to donate what they have to the damaged people and have witnessed how politicians, members of the government organs and the National politic party (the party who’s in power rn) have just gone to scream and shout to the volunteers, give them orders while humiliating them and just taking a picuture giving plates of food that they never bought. It’s the volunteering people who have given them, they just go there, take a picture giving off the plates to post on social media and then LEAVE. We are truly enraged by this. And this is nothing new, I can go off all day. Throughout the sanitary emergency bc of covid, the CNA (independent civil society body that fights off corruption) has released 12 reports called “Corruption in times of Covid” that demonstrates and shows off with receipts all the money that has been stolen, including international help admist all of this pandemic. The 9.1M dollar budget has been so embezzled. With 3.6M lempiras overrated in biosecurity equipment and 47M dollars paid for mobile hospitals equipped with precarious and useless equipment. This is just the tip pf the iceberg. Thank you so much to everyone that has donated to honduran citizens, we appreciate it very much. I just want to spread awaress of the situation we have to face off in here. We are so tired of it, we want justice for a country that has been stomped on, looted and mocked for too long. To be honest I don’t tend to make much political posts for I don’t really dedicate my blog to it as I intended more for inspirational stuff and or art references, but I’ve taken notice on how the #PrayForHonduras has been trending, the fact that people actually care and take their time to aid my country has been a really touching gesture, for those who may not know for I feel none of you are getting the full picture or history (Cause the tweets I’m seeing only shows fires and stuff and people gonna think we getting bombed or something else) we recently had our elections for the future president of Honduras from 2018 - 2022 the thing is one of the candidates, Juan Orlando Hernandez has been a manipulative man climbing his way to power and getting himself elected the previous elections (2013 - 2017) by disbanding people’s votes and ensuring the most for himself (similar to what happened in USA during the Clinton VS Trump elections) after his period as a president he decided to relaunch a campaign to be elected 4 MORE YEARS when it has been stablished within the constitution that a president may only serve ONCE as a president not twice nor get reelected, but somehow he cheat it his way in into this year’s elections representing the Nationalist Party, that aside thankfully most of the peoplw knew how corrupted and dreadful this man was... and WE THE PEOPLE tired of his constant abuse and negligence used our votes to elect a new president who actually heard our voice, who actually cared for us, the candidate the majority of the population voted for is known as Salvador Nasralla who proved to be an honest choice to make us achieve a better Honduras, election day was on November 26th where the votes got counted and we got advice he had won, but the corrupted network that Juan Orlando had built wanted to stop that, the corrupted president made the unthinkable he started delaying the declaration of the presidence ONE ENTIRE WEEK to stall for enough time so he could made a fraud in the elections and start falsifying votes so it would seem he won, but the people ain’t stupid, MY COUNTRY AIN’T STUPID we saw through this and we are fighting against this corrupt man who is trying to become a dictator on our peaceful land, betraying the morals and ethics of my country, betraying the trust of his own political party and lastly proving how corrupted and manipulative he truly is by showing his true colors now that he is cornered for his ultimate treason against Honduras, OUR LAND we are fighting against this utter evil menacing us, who in 4 years and years prior of manipulative destruction has cause more than enough damage to us, we ain’t letting him get away, WE AIN’T LETTING HIM DO FRAUD AND PROCLAIM HIMSELF THE DICTATOR HE IS!

So thank you all who have supported my country in this times of need whether it was through Tumblr, Twitter, Facebook, the fact other countries care, the fact other countries are aiding us, is one of the most beauitulf hopeful things I can witness, for too long my people have been hopeless and stepped on but now? My feelings thus far..

Honduras is in a very very critical situation..I've never felt so unsafe..so vulnerable and scared for not only myself..but my family and friends. I am scared even in my house. Cops are killing people..people are breaking in stores and banks and stealing..Kindness and love doesn't exist here...my family could lose their job..or be murdered..i am so scared..I don't know if I will be able to study next year..I miss my boyfriend so much..his birthday is this coming Tuesday..i don't think we will be able to see each other in a very long time..Christmas is coming..please let it be with all my family and friends..safe..

My heart hurts for Honduras right now. It is one of the most beautiful places I have ever been, with some of the most beautiful people I have ever met ❤️ I haven't heard from all my friends, but I am hoping they are safe with their families.. I can't stop thinking about you guys 😔

On Tuesday, Hurricane Eta hit the Caribbean coast of Nicaragua. This category 4 hurricane brought floods, strong winds and left many people with out homes, food or any basic resources. The hurricane then came and made a major hit on Honduras. About 400,000 people have been displaced from their homes, separated from families and loved ones and at least 57 lives were taken away across Central America. 13 of those lives were from Honduras.

With the pandemic still going on, many people are suffering due to the lack of food and resources. So many people lost their entire homes in less than one night and the floods and strong gusts of wind are endless.

I am asking you to pray for my country as well as for all of Central America. We need all of the help we can get.

And if you cannot donate, please do your part in spreading awareness. Talk to your friends and families about it or post on social media. These people need our help and even just talking, retweeting or reposting info about this event can help so much.
