It is the sinners' dust-tonged bell - Dylan Thomas
It is the sinners’ dust-tongued bell claps me to churches
When, with his torch and hourglass, like a sulphur priest,
His beast heel cleft in a sandal,
Time marks a black aisle kindle from the brand of ashes,
Grief with dishevelled hands tear out the altar ghost
And a firewind kill the candle.
Over the choir minute I hear the hour chant:
Time’s coral saint and the salt grief drown a foul sepulchre
And a whirlpool drives the prayerwheel;
Moonfall and sailing emperor, pale as their tideprint,
Hear by death’s accident the clocked and dashed-down spire
Strike the sea hour through bellmetal.
There is loud and dark directly under the dumb flame,
Storm, snow, and fountain in the weather of fireworks,
Cathedral calm in the pulled house;
Grief with drenched book and candle christens the cherub time
From the emerald, still bell; and from the pacing weather-cock
The voice of bird on coral prays.
Forever it is a white child in the dark-skinned summer
Out of the font of bone and plants at that stone tocsin
Scales the blue wall of spirits;
From blank and leaking winter sails the child in colour,
Shakes, in crabbed burial shawl, by sorcerer’s insect woken,
Ding dong from the mute turrets.

Everyone goes through a lot of good and bad things, happiness and unhappiness. Life is a long journey, we can't predict what we will encounter, only by making our hearts stronger can we withstand the storms and temptations in life. Learn to forget, learn to let go. - Smiling Even As Life Is - Gyatso Rinpoche

A Tibetan prayer wheel - is a cylindrical wheel (Tibetan: འཁོར་ལོ།, Wylie: khor lo) on a spindle made from metal, wood, stone, leather or coarse cotton. Traditionally, a mantra is written in Tibetan language, on the outside of the wheel. The mantra Om mani padme hum is most commonly used, but other mantras may be used as well. Also sometimes depicted are Dakinis, Protectors and very often the eight auspicious symbols Ashtamangala. At the core of the cylinder is a "life tree" often made of wood or metal with certain mantras written on or wrapped around it. Many thousands (or in the case of larger prayer wheels, millions) of mantras are then wrapped around this life tree. According to the Tibetan Buddhist tradition based on the lineage texts regarding prayer wheels, spinning such a wheel will have much the same meritorious effect as orally reciting the prayers. ___________________________ #TDMMAG #tibetanprayerwheel #yourshotphotographer #OTHallOfFrame #eyeshotmag #insidephotos #prayerwheel #myfeatureshoot #goodshotz #prayerwheels #canonphotography #shotoncanon #canonphotographers #canonasia #capturedoncanon #tibetanbuddhism #tibet #ommanipadmehum #ommanipadmehumૐ #wheeloflife #monastery #prayers #prayer #prayerworks #spitivalley #spitidiaries #stilllife #still #peace #love (at Spiti Valley) https://www.instagram.com/p/CUCXYWJplTJ/?utm_medium=tumblr

This is a Buddhist praying instrument which always bears the mystical words "Om Mani Padme Hum'' (praise to the jewel in the lotus) numbering six syllables in the mantra of Avalokiteshvara. It has been consecrated with a scroll of prayers (mantras) inside. The external cylinder of the prayer wheel is made of gilded repoussé silver penetrated along its axis by a metal handle. The outside of the cylinder is inlaid with turquoise and coral stones as well as jade. This outer part is removable to allow for the insertion of the sacred text into the cylinder. The cylinder contains a tightly wound scroll with the sacred text printed on paper. The text is a sutra or invocation to Avalokiteshvara. The cylinder can turn around the handle with a slight rotation of the wrist, thanks to a ballasted chain, which keeps it in movement. The syllables Om Mani Padme Hum are carved outside the wheel in Tibetan. The uppermost point of the prayer wheel forms the shape of a lotus bud. Prayer wheels are used primarily by the Buddhists of Tibet and Nepal, where hand-held prayer wheels are carried by pilgrims and other devotees and turned during devotional activities. According to Tibetan Buddhist belief, spinning a prayer wheel is just as effective as reciting the sacred texts aloud. This belief derives from the Buddhist belief in the power of sound and the formulas to which deities are subject. For many Buddhists, the prayer wheel also represents the Wheel of the Law (or Dharma) set in motion by the Buddha. Each rotation sends a set of prayers to all Buddhas and all sentient beings, and will generate merit (good karma) as the prayers inside are 'read' and fly out to the four winds.

A man with a prayer wheel and mala is a Buddhist. The wheel generates positive energy and purifies negative karma. The mala counts prayers for meditation and inner peace. These tools deepen spiritual practice and connect with Buddha's teachings.
