Praying for the Peace of Israel: A Call Beyond the Psalms
Introduction: A Longing for Peace When we open the Bible to the time of King David in the 10th century BC, we encounter a vision of peace that stirs the soul. In Psalms, we’re instructed to “pray for the peace of Jerusalem” (Psalm 122:6), a call rooted in David’s longing for a kingdom where God’s shalom—wholeness, rest, and righteousness—would reign. David dreamed of a land where “everyone would…

Proverbs 5:1-2 (NLT). “My son, pay attention to my wisdom; listen carefully to my wise counsel. Then you will show discernment, and your lips will express what you’ve learned.”
Hebrews 5:14 (ESV). “But solid food is for the mature, for those who have their powers of discernment trained by constant practice to distinguish good from evil.”
1 Corinthians 12:10 (NLT). “He gives one person the power to perform miracles, and another the ability to prophesy. He gives someone else the ability to discern whether a message is from the Spirit of God or from another spirit.”
“Why We Need Spiritual Discernment” by In Touch Ministries:
“When faced with a decision that seems to have several good answers, rely on the Holy Spirit for guidance.”
“Things aren’t always what they seem. That’s the mantra of many mystery books and TV shows, but it’s also a wise attitude for life. Many people make decisions based on feelings or judge situations by what appears to be ideal. Thankfully, God has given every believer a spirit of discernment to help us determine what’s best.
Think about how many decisions we must make on a daily basis—choices about family, finances, work. In a perfect world, each decision would have a correct and incorrect choice. In reality, however, what seems right isn’t always best. Some things that are neither wrong nor sinful may still be outside God’s will for us.
Scripture doesn’t contain specific directives about every possible life scenario. Instead, it’s filled with principles laid down by direct teaching or, at times, through stories. As we grow in spiritual maturity, biblical principles coupled with guidance from the Holy Spirit help us make godly judgments. (See 2 Peter 1:3.)
The question isn’t whether a certain choice looks good or feels right, but whether it’s God’s will for that point in our life. A spirit of discernment is essential for living in His will. Many choices that feel appropriate are actually contrary to what the Lord desires. That is why we must evaluate situations from a biblical perspective and ask the Spirit to guide us.”

It had been a habit during Manberg and New Lmanburg. For all his faults, Dream was reliable when Tubbo needed him to show up
So when an emergency appeared, like a sinkhole opening by their crop patches or a sudden flood licking at the floors of the city, Tubbo would set up a spell by his shrine and pray.
It was a simple thing, not much more then a circle of salt and a candle, but Dream would be there in five minutes no matter what. Even after Tubbo called him over a few times to help practice his speeches.
Those times almost feel like a past life now. But still, after Tubbo had talked himself in circles for hours trying to think of a response to Jack's many needless complaints, when it was time to leave a new bowl of fish jerky on the shrine he found himself looking for a candle.
There's something almost embarrassing as he stops in the middle of the hallway, a box of matches already in his hands. Dream had been a comfort, sure, but he was also Dream. Yes, he was the God Tubbo prayed to, whatever, but him being Dream was always more important.
More then that, would he even come? It had been a month since the prison break, and no one had seen even a trace of him.
On the darkest nights, the one where Tubbo would not let Tommy walk out the door, he admitted that he was expecting Dream to abandon them. To sink back in the wild and snap the threads connecting them to him and to leave them fully human as they were born, yet somehow less who they were.
Tubbo sighed, hopping and switching his weight from one hoof to another before finally deciding to say fuck it.
Ranboo was staying in the arctic commune today, and Michael had been asleeo in bed for hours already. When would there be any chance as perfect as this to do something stupid?
He put the plate on the small shrine by the window, placing the candle on the floor in front of it and making a circle of salt around it.
He lit the candle, giving a prayer that was too well done for how much time it had been, and sighed as the candle goes out by itself as he finished the words. Dream probably was not going to-
"WHAT IS GOING ON?!"
Tubbo screamed, his limbs locking in place and barely allowing him to see his front door slammed open, Dream standing there with wide eyes, completly nude except for the fur thrown over his shoulders and dripping water onto his floorboards.
"wha-"

Thank y'all so much for your prayers re: last week's church crisis.
It's been a frustrating week, but I finally confided with my mom about my concerns, we talked for about an hour altogether, and I instantly felt the weight lift from my shoulders.
While I'm still unsure about speaking to the elders, it suddenly seems quite obvious to me that I should delay taking the membership vows, and spend this coming quarter alternating between my parents' church and the more local PCA church to see which is a better fit.

God, please grant me the wisdom and discernment to enable me to walk the fine line You've placed in front of me. Guide my steps so that I may find Your Will in treating others with kindness and compassion while at the same time not becoming so overprotective that I let my own needs slip through the cracks.

on a slightly serious note, i got a prayer request
ive been discerning the priesthood/religious life for about two years now, and have made an unofficial visit to a seminary for the religious order I want to join back in April. I’m supposed to meet the director of vocations in order to follow up on the visit and discuss next steps but havent heard a word from him yet. Please pray for me to grow in patience and peace since ive been getting anxious about it, and for continued discernment for me, i would greatly appreciate it <3
now back to my regular late night vibing

It has been the experience of this Yearly Meeting in the past to know that Friends have met in division and uncertainty, and that then guidance has come, and light has been given to us, and we have become the finders of God’s purpose. This gives us ground for confidence.

please pray for me as i truly begin this discernment process
my priest, unbeknownst to me, is apparently in charge of the ordination process for the whole diocese.
so deep into our conversation, when i had mentioned i had experienced a possible calling before- not thinking much of it- i could tell he was eager
he explained to me how our rural community needs more priests badly. and as the priest in charge of ordination, making that final decision, he said he had been praying hard, especially in the past 2 weeks. “and then we showed up at the church” he said.
no pressure, but he told me he believed i may want to pray on it and potentially follow this calling i have thought about since 2017, something i keep coming back to despite everything that’s happened.
he explained how much the ordination process has changed and how much easier it could be for me to be ordained. another issue that felt resolved for me.
in the meantime, he has offered me multiple ways to get involved in the church. he also has invited me to help work with him to build a local queer christian community that is desperately needed.
this priest, who eagerly wants to have lunch with us after thursday mass once a month, the priest in charge of ordination, may even become a sort of mentor figure
my whole world might have potentially changed in one afternoon. i am still trying to find out where God is leading me, but i trust Him. God will not lead me astray
so please, prayers as i find out where God wants me as i find my place in His church

Start off your morning praying the rosary. I did. Today is another day on the battlefield for souls that is the Earth.
Good morning, my brothers and sisters.
Oh my Jesus
Forgive us our sins
Save us from the fires of hell
Lead all souls to heaven
Especially those in most need
Of thy mercy
Amen.
