Despite knowing for months that Jess was going to announce a roleplay, and that Jess has a really big platform, like way bigger than I ever can quantify, I still wasn't ready for Aphblr to start picking up in numbers the way it has.

The amount of new/returning users who are clearly scrolling through these tags for the first time in years, people making posts about how the MyStreet announcement dragged them back into the depths, or just showing up here because PM Seymour made a post about it and reminded them that Aphmau exists.

Aphblr is really going through a renaissance, or at the very least a population boom. I think that's neat, if not a little scary, but still neat

Pulled from videos I put on my Instagram, but they're better together.

Went to clean my car and found I had a stowaway. Little dude was hiding under my passenger seat and would have almost certainly gotten vacuumed up if it had not come out swinging (I think. I don't know mantid behavior too well, but it was jabbing with its foremost legs, so that seems like an attack to me).

I was able to get the mantis onto a Gatorade bottle and out of my way while I cleaned. I was hoping it would leave in the meantime so I didn't have to deal with a tiny animal who was probably just as confused as I was on how it got there. But nope! Dude stuck around and listened to the honky tonk music the car wash was playing, or at least it seemed to be listening based on how it was swaying (note: I'm joking. I'm pretty sure it didn't care about the music. I just kept making comments to it about dancing to the tunes).

In the end, it hopped off the bottle (only after I moved it to the trash can, though I wasn't going to throw it away if it hadn't jumped off) and I got a really cool video of a praying mantis jumping.

And the frame-by-frame of that jump, because why not.

I really love how the pjo show is leaning into fatal flaws from the get go. More for Percy than Annabeth so far- but for new fans it’ll be an absolute lightbulb moment when fatal flaws are actually discussed, and for original readers it’s just. So good.

I’ve noticed it popping up in prev episodes (‘I am Sally Jackson’s son’, picking Grover bc he’s the one person he’s sure won’t betray him etc) but ep 4 rlly cemented it for me. Percy spends the entire episode trash talking his father and the gods, and then immediately sacrifices himself for Grover and Annabeth. Because they’ve helped him.

But what gets me- what GETS ME. Is its more showing the fatal flaws of the gods. Annabeth prays to her mother and honors her and at the slightest hit to her pride, she allows the mother of monsters into her own temple to kill her daughter.

Percy, as I said, spends the entire episode trash talking his father. Poseidons own son sent medusas head to Olympus- his FORBIDDEN son, who has supposedly stolen the master bolt, who tried to refuse the opportunity to clear both their names. And then he can’t even be bothered to pray to him. To say anything good about him.

But Percy is Poseidons son, and he actively chooses to rescue him from falling to his death, regardless.

Percy’s fatal flaw is personal loyalty- he gets it from his father.
