OOG u know what i havent done in a long time. an unsolicited book reviewww
dont ask me why im listening to an audiobook of fangirl by rainbow rowell. i just am. its. not terrible but its maybe a book i shouldve read when i was younger and more invested in fandom instead of now when i spend more time at rooftop punk shows & cultural food festivals. thats not a brag but like, just different priorities & opportunities that i have now
Anyway fangirl is ok i kind of dont care about the romance bc its almost Too indulgent like im not here for realism but at the same time it doesnt seem grounded enough. but yeah a golden retriever man with adhd falling for a nerdy anxious introvert whos kind of mean to him is thee pipe dream i guess
the family conflict plots are more interesting. im sorry to say i relate more to the main character's slightly inconsiderate sister who outgrew fandom ahskfdhdfkjsh. i also like totally understand that the main character has anxiety and abandonment issues and has been chronically online her whole life but sometimes she comes across as soooo naive that shes kinda childish. which is kind of the point like taking her out of her comfort zone & growing up but sometimes im like girl get a grip!!
the depiction of fandom culture was good imo. its just, People Who Enjoy This Thing A Lot! it was also interesting seeing the mc struggle with writing original fiction
anyway. its ok i guess. like this post if u think i should read books that Arent about teens writing fanfiction

The pages in this category are redirects from names that are unsuitable for inclusion in a printed version of Wikipedia. To add a redirect to this category, place {{Rcat shell|{{R unprintworthy}}}} on the second new line (skip a line) after #REDIRECT [[Target page name]]. For more information follow the links. Never substitute redirect template(s), nor place them on soft redirects.
See also the complete list of redirect templates and the redirect style guide.
This is a maintenance category, used for maintenance of the Wikipedia project. It is not part of the encyclopedia and contains non-article pages, or groups articles by status rather than subject. Do not include this category in content categories.
This is a tracking category. It builds and maintains a list of pages primarily for the sake of the list itself. They are not part of the encyclopedia's categorization scheme.
This category is hidden on its member pages—unless the corresponding user preference (appearance → show hidden categories) is set.
These categories can be used to track, build and organize lists of pages needing "attention en masse" (for example, pages using deprecated syntax), or that may need to be edited at someone's earliest convenience.
These categories also serve to aggregate members of several lists or sub-categories into a larger, more efficient list (discriminated by classifications).
"Unprintworthy" redirects are redirect pages on Wikipedia that aid online navigation, but would have little or no value as pointers to target articles in a hard-copy book. The name of a redirect may be unprintworthy for a number of reasons, including being nearly identical to the name of the target page, containing typographical errors, or not being encyclopaedic. Redirects are not unprintworthy just because the name may be offensive to some, unless the name is also not encyclopaedic.

A note to someone I know
If I have to write it might as well give it a spot here, heads up original topic homosexuality in nature.
I against my greatest desire not to will dare to grace your bigotry with a reply I heard it be said “do no answer a fool according to his folly”(Not a contradiction before you try to put words in my mouth.) Which is decent advice, but I’m a dirty heathen so I can’t (can) use any of the bible for ideas so here we are. To be entirely clear, if I was being sound and accurate about this, this email would be about a post-it note sized blip because I now realize throughout the entire 2~ hour conversation about 10 minutes of it was actually on the topic at hand. However, as should be obvious I’m extra so I will be kind enough to give the rest of your disorganized argument page space. Therefore, this beginning part is for all the claims irrelevant to the actual idea. (Which is most of them. Atheist societies coming of religious ones/Atheist charitable giving/ the entire Atheist rant that you put into everything you touch. These things are not only factually incorrect but also entirely irrelevant. Its garbage it’s completely and utterly nothing but a show of hate and bigotry, this has nothing to do with LGBT+ in nature as does democrats or thinly sliced bread or skinny jeans it is irrelevant to this conversation it is but utter imposition, we are not having that talk but either way might as well go through it. This claim that atheist societies only come out of theistic societies, is not only irrelevant to homosexual tendencies in nature it is historically inaccurate, while it is true that modern atheism based off science is rather recent because the science itself is rather recent in humanities terms, however, lacking of belief in god or gods is indeed ancient. There is a great article, and (presumably) book by the University of Cambridge on this exact topic [Disbelieve it or not ancient history suggests that atheism is as natural to humans as religion, Battling the Gods, Tim Witmarsh] still irrelevant and still wrong. On charitable giving this entirety of this thing stems off a faulty study, it claimed that yes, religious people give more than secular, BUT it included church as in tithes as charity. It is not that is like if you included the own shops tips jar as part of their charitable giving (If you include the amount of money spent on going to atheist conventions you could put secular people over the top ourselves). If you do not include faith based, or religious charities that do nothing but bolster their own religion, the numbers shift DRAMATICALLY. The Great people over at the friendly atheist back in 2013 did a nice write up on the whole situation, (Are Religious People Really More Generous Then Atheists? A New Study Puts That Myth to Rest, Hemant Mehta) but to quote it succinctly “Earlier this week, a new report released by the National Study of American Religious Giving put a rest to that myth that religious people are more charitable than the non-religious. It turns out nearly 75% of charitable giving by all Americans… benefits places of worship and faith-based charities. A lot of the money isn’t helping the poor and less fortunate. It’s going to the church.” It’s literally the third link on the google page “Charitable giving religion vs secular” this isn’t that hard to find. But, as I said this is irrelevant to the entire conversation and is nothing but another spew of hate by someone who is full of it so count this as an extra thing. On to the things that actually matter and that is just the one LGBTQ+ Tendencies in NatureFor this one I genuinely don’t need words I just need citations, now most of the time I keep my citations clean and nice but for this one I will devolve into just putting in links because trust me if I had to write every one of these out my arms would fall off. (Why do all scholarly studies have to have ten-year long names?). However, this is just a brief assembling of separate scholarly studies on this exact topic: ( https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s00265-011-1228-9 , https://www.jstor.org/stable/24939894 ) These are not even all of them these are 20 pages of them that I thought looked interesting while avoiding repeat citations, you can go looking for more yourself, but it should show pretty obvious that this isn’t “Isolated incidents”. I do not think I need to say more. Though I will note two last things looking at the picture one again that inspired all of this, if you look at the water and the rainbow it spawned.. It should not have been there I looked at it, the angle of the light doesn’t look right for the refraction required for the rainbow to appear. Genuinely, I will write it off for the moment as an anomaly and you are too of course free to do so, but I thought you should note. If you count a disruption in what should be natural laws as you do, that would be defined as a miracle, so in that way, if a God or Gods or Goddess or Goddesses of sorts does in fact exist, this suggests pretty clearly, they are on the protester's side. And if that is the case I think you should really think long and hard on this, because as a reminder, Homosexuality, like race is as I just showed a natural element of existence and an amoral (irrelevant to morality) component (in the way you can’t find immorality in someone due to a natural element of their being. Especially if you believe it to be based on a component of a divine being.). However, being Racist or Homophobic is in a moral landscape and if there is a God of whom has one, you should indeed think where you are placed on it, because it would seem by any grasp of theology, you don’t want to be on the wrong side of that. That is all.

haven’t book blogged in a long hot while but i have been reading but in a way that’s like, let me just consume this book in 3 days on my train commutes and then move on to the next one w/o having any real thoughts. also some recent (positive) developments in my social (e.g. dating) life may have something to do with it
but if you’re interested here’s a list of books i’ve read recently under the cut:
finished & enjoyed
bunny by mona awad (Weird. i loved it but idk how to describe it at all)
my friend anna by rachel deloache williams (okay i felt bad for rachel williams but also im obsessed w the shitty things anna delvey did lmao)
they wish they were us by jessica goodman (kinda basic teen “thriller” but u know what. sometimes that hits the spot)
special section for books i finished and... im pretty sure i liked them but i also don’t think i can in good conscience recommend them to other people. bc they get pretty disturbing? and i can’t gauge if they’re good but i DID finish them BUT i’m not sure if i enjoyed the experience. also they all happen to be written by japanese women about japanese society but i don’t really have the range to discuss that
convenience store woman by sayaka murata
earthlings by sayaka murata
real world by natsuo kirino
did not finish. sorry. not necessarily bad but just didn’t hit for me i think
mr. fox by helen oyeyemi
catherine house by elisabeth thomas
the gilded wolves by roshani chokshi

books i am reading, have read, or will read in an attempt to feel something, anything, again:
fiction about shitty, (usually) rich white women. my life of rest and relaxation by ottessa moshfegh was really good. and im doing a gone girl reread dont look at me
an absolutely harrowing memoir by a half-chinese half jewish lesbian that hit really goddamn hard like i just finished it and i feel fucking hollowed out but in a good way okay it’s called long live the tribe of fatherless girls by t kira madden holy shit it’s really good but it might also be 20 kinds of triggering
im going to masochistically put myself thru one of the books written by one of the authors involved in the omega verse lawsuit. i will not enjoy it but at this point in my life i will read both really good books and really awful books to try and escape the fact that i dont feel like i can talk about my mental health with anyone. also it was free on my ebooks app. idk if authors get anything from free downloads. im approaching this like a gory horror movie that won’t be good but at least i’ll feel disgusted and not dead inside

i blazed through carmen maria machado’s in the dream house in like 2 days and it’s quite good! a very harrowing memoir about an abusive relationship. kinda wanna reread it immediately because. i did spend those 2 days in the throes of a depressive episode. which was PROBABLY exacerbated by the book in question but. it’s still a good read 🥴

ok i gave up trying to finish misery by stephen king and bought cemetery boys on ebook to reread on the train later instead
the thing about misery was.......i felt pretty bored, not kept in suspense. maybe its bc i watched the movie first but mostly i think it was bc of the writing. it was kind of a slog!!!

#pq vs books#i guess this counts as book blogging#im currently reading hench by natalie zina walschots and its good but i have no real thoughts about it yet

okay im reading hench by natalie zina walschots and im only halfway through but holy shit i love it?? on the surface it is a “OOH subverting the superhero narrative from the villain’s perspective” story but also it is very good (so far) and it’s gritty without trying too hard to be EDGY and SOULLESS like so far its about superheroic collateral damage & the Real weapon being well-wielded data & spreadsheets
#pq vs books#i feel ALIVE about a book again and it feels good#pour one out for my abandoned books though IM SORRY
