ThornRat (Thornclaw x Ratscar) Dark Forest trainee pairing. They're also both old enough to remember the Old Forest . The whole dynamic I have in mind is Thornclaw being rather oblivious to his sexuality and also being a huge fucking hypocrite (he's one of the more conservative warriors of TC, ironically). Ultimately his relationship with Ratscar, if you can even call it one, is doomed from the start and Ratscar is stuck yearning for someone that's not worth pursuing for multiple reasons.

BrambleFern (Bramblepaw x Fernpaw) I specify -paw because I see them as a bit of a tragic pairing where it doesn't end up working out because Dustpelt swoops right in and inserts himself in Bramblepaw's place. Also, in the context of my rewrite, Brambleclaw is the one to run away to ShadowClan instead of Tawnypelt so whatever spark he and Fernpaw had going never gets to go anywhere. I imagine they're still friends but have some moments of 'what if' every now and then.

BrindleFlint (Brindleface x Flintfang) Honestly I just wanted to give Ashfur and Ferncloud a father that already existed in the series and also didn't fuck up the family tree any more than it already is. I think I got this idea from someone else but I can't exactly remember who - but it's a very interesting concept considering the events of the first arc and how Flintfang was still alive for the events that happened (according to Tigerstar's Fury and Blackfoot's Reckoning). I headcanon that Ferncloud is named after her aunt Fernshade, too. Additionally, in the anthro AU, their story is a lot sadder but that's another story...

LongWind (Longtail x Runningwind) Childhood friends to almost-lovers! They're around the same age and would've definitely trained together. As mentioned in my HalfOne family tree post, they had a budding interest but it was cut short by Runningwind's death. Sad :(

IvyBreeze (Ivypool x Breezepelt) This one is just funny. "You wanna kiss me so bad it makes you look stupid" kind of shit. Breezepelt would be fucking fuming over it because he doesn't want to be like his dad.

HalfDove (Half Moon x Dove's Wing) Another one that's mostly in the context of my rewrite! I'm imagining it's very one-sided since I also love HalfJay, but it's a very complicated thing where Jay's Wing is very focused on saving their colony and too scatterbrained to really put any serious commitment to Half Moon (something he tells her explicitly, but she pursues anyways). Dove's Wing is embarrassed of her crush and knows it was never meant to be, not only because she's a prophecy cat but also because Half Moon doesn't even like her that way.

IceApple (Icewing x Applefur) Another Dark Forest Trainee pairing! I have a lot of these because I got attached to them. Not my only Applefur ship but certainly one that's kinda fun to think about. I don't have much to say about these two sadly but I thought it was a cute idea that I could maybe build off of later.

MinnowMouse (Minnowtail x Mousewhisker) I don't actually think this one is that much of a rare pair, I've seen a lot of ppl talk about this but I was kinda running out of ideas since there's a lot of characters idgaf about sorry LOL anyways this one is based on a scene in Dark River and the fact they were both Dark Forest trainees in their adulthood.

Isn’t it crazy how ai helps us see images of hell before we die. But it’s different than people creating cgi or painted images, only slightly bc it’s so good at capturing an air of casual nonchalantness, completely nonplussed expressions of half baked half naked people going about their business as their limbs melt and get ripped apart by dogs. Like it’s not as good as human art, no, but there’s this je ne sais quoi quality that begets the same indifference that I think a demon who’s going to possess or kill you might have? It’s like, that magic touch of terror I get in movies about the demonic or supernatural/paranormal— the creature is probably intelligent, but you just don’t know because it’s not communicating in any meaningful way with you. Either it’s beyond your understanding, fueled by blind instinct or rage or lust in a way you will never comprehend or maybe some other drive that’s behind your reasoning, or it simply chooses not to acknowledge you with anything. Maybe you can’t decipher it or if you or maybe it just doesn’t give a shit bc why would the hunter call out ‘haha fuck you’ to the bunny before shooting and even if he did! the bunny wouldn’t understand. The rabbit knowing of our intricate lives outside of the chase really ruins the animalistic fear. It now knows it will die for a purpose— to be eaten and skinned maybe, made into something soft. It knows that the machine used to kill it took years of refining and precision planning, from blunt instruments of war to flashy tools of entertainment. From rocks and flint to fire and wheels. Maybe it would be willing to die, either in awe of us or such disillusionment of its own short, meek existence.

I’ve lost the plot a bit but that lack of fear is in a lot of horror media, for me, and every now and again I find a sweet spot in literature or art or media where it’s there! but, it’s become more and more rare.

I still have that sense of like. Eugh. Eeaaughwaoh. Hooooo! In some of the ai art I’ve seen. A lot of the videos. It’s similar to the ones I find funny, bc we know horror and humor are so intricately linked. The beer commercial one is priceless for a similar reason; the belligerent lapping and obtuse crowd, the fire growing and the repetitive mirage of music. but I’m not impressed by any of this. I’m aggravated and a bit, not afraid in a singularity kind of way. More like afraid that we have found a way to remove the human ‘known’ from the creation of images— bc ofc it’s making its content *from* our produce, be it real documentation or art, but it’s removing the sense of familiarity from the regurgitation process. It’s like putting water into a filter and out comes the same clear liquid that’s incapable of quenching your thirst, somehow. And it’s a nebulous thing, like if you corrected the unfixed gaze and number of fingers or blurred and amorphous backgrounds, I feel like you’d still feel this sense of loss. Some of the near pitch perfect anime AI pics I’ve seen have it (or lack thereof), but I can’t be sure if it’s just me recognizing the dominant style, yknow how it’s a bit too softly shaded and the line quality? I could be biased but…I dunno man! I can usually tell! And that’s the unsettling part I think, that we figured out how to scrub a sense of self and individuality from something sooo inherently personal, which is like THE epicenter of uncanny valley. To the point that you just know the same way you might feel someone looking at you.

I’m not trying to get all woowoo about computers. I definitely am not one of the people who thinks ai is gonna develop free will and overthrow us. I think that’s a very reactionary and reductive conversation about the actual impact it will have on real people (workforces, artists, the moral questions of like…yknow, the fucked up shit ppl are already feeding into these things) but I think automizing processes always begs the question of ‘what are we losing in doing this?’ Grandma’s homemade jam vs smuckers sugar syrup? What is that ‘homemade quality’ and what things are supposed to be ‘homemade’? Mommy homamos sweater knitted from your cats shed hair vs a sweater made of tissue paper that costs $49.99 from Zara that will last one year, tops. How palatable is the opposite? How much humanity can you remove before it becomes repugnant? Could an ai have shit all these words out? Would it have been a good read? Was this even a good read? There’s an answer, and it’s somewhere between whatever is most cheap, and most marketable.

2023 Watch List pt2

Other list was getting annoyingly long for my liking so part two it is.

Not Me - I am not the biggest lover of Off's acting. A darling but, to me, not anywhere near as good as others at GMMTV. So I went into this with a lower expectation than some. I was incredibly pleasantly surprised. Essentially a story about a rough around the edges little anti-establishment found family, this drama had a lot to say and really managed to execute those messages without feeling preachy about it. Fantastic cast all round and I fell head first for DanYok. 4/5

Never Let Me Go (series and Our Skyy) - Umm. I feel like I felt like I knew what this was trying to do but that it got a bit lost at times. The script is kind of muddled. As ever JoJo pulls amazing performances out of a very young pup cast and its really those performances that make a confused script work. The cinematography is also stunning. Pond, for me, again suffers a little from a general stiffness, he gives some great emotion in this but, for me, has a lot of growing to do as an actor. It says something when I felt more strongly for Perth and Chimon who're barely in this. 3/5

The Warp Effect - Literally never seen anything as wholly sex positive and fun as this. The whole cast works amazingly and seeing kinks represented in a way where they weren't jokes was beautiful. Also, accurate female orgasm faces. Deserves a five for that alone. But seriously, don't skip this one. Queer, feminist and sex positive this deserves all the flowers. 5/5

The Jungle - This is stupid. I know it, you know it. Everyone who watched it knows it. But damn it was fun. Essentially a group of fuckboys, that routinely fight other fuckboys for treating girls badly, accidentally catch feelings for some cool women. Everything is nice too look at and the acting is great (especially Nanon, ohmygod) so honestly, strong rec. 3.5/5

Vice Versa (series and Our Skyy) - I get why people didn't warm too this, the ppl is honestly the worst I've ever seen and the concept is a little bizarre, but it just had something I really liked. JimmySea are an incredibly comfy feeling pairing, it's soothing to watch them together even when the script is a little daft and the ppl ridiculous. I'm rarely strongly moved by dramas but the scene where Puen is saying his goodbyes too Tun's parents just had me gone. Also just Jimmy in general does some beautiful, emotional work throughout. (Which makes the ppl issue even more annoying for me. They're too good to have to do stupid scenes about choco pie and lays potato chips.) 4/5

Cupids last wish - Ummm. This isn’t terrible but it’s also not that great. It just is. The script is so muddled that sometimes I thought I’d missed an episode, I hadn’t it’s just a confused script, and if the leads weren’t talented it wouldn’t really work at all. The period part is art but overall the representation of women in this is questionable at best and downright bad and cringe at worst. Watch for EarthMix and go watch Jan in Warp Effect where she’s allowed to be great and all the women are fully realised characters. 3.5/5

History 3: Trapped - This isn’t perfect, there’s some weird continuity stuff and things that didn’t feel fleshed out, but it’s A LOT of fun and the cast is fun. I really enjoyed the main pair and their back and forth was a lot of fun to watch. 3/5

Hidden Agenda - This wanted to be so many things that it just wasn’t. Joke was barely given a personality beyond ‘I love Zo’ and Zo was at times annoying but mostly just boring. Aou&Boom’s side characters were compelling and their relationship felt healthy and fully realised. I really can’t say the same for Joke & Zo. You’re scarcely shown any reason that they like one another and Joke just floats around looking mournful like he’s got trapped wind. Not one I’ll revisit. 2/5

My tooth your love - Ehhhh. First few episodes are nice. Dentist is a walking red flag who deserves to be told to fuck off and,as cute as the the wee baby gay side character is, I didn’t really appreciate the side romance between the 18 year old and the grown man that takes on a pseudo care giver role for him. (I know that’s a me dislike and he’s of age so it’s legal but, for me, it’s ick.) 2/5

Laws of Attraction - Every now and then a show comes along that shouldn't really work but 100% does and this is that show. Most everyone in this is a soap actor, you can tell, but that only adds to the beautiful camp absurdity of the thing. Charn is a deliciously villainous 'life is for profit' lawyer and Tinn is a soft, cosy, Labrador of a human. The untimely, heart breaking death of Tinn's niece brings the pair together to solve the mystery of how she died. There are lots of things you have to overlook with this but the central puzzles are good and intriguing and everyone's acting is good. (Watch this on dramacool if you're not in the states. The YouTube subs are absolute balls.) 4/5

My School President (series and Our Skyy) - I am older but I fall into the category of adult who was terrible at being a teen and, therefore, solidly enjoys good teen content and this is definitely that. Fourth & Gem do an excellent job as our leads and this show just serves you a consistent slice of fluffy delight. Their respective friend groups are also excellent and the Our Skyy concept gave me solidly genuine amusement. 4/5

Cutie Pie - Call me a hater but I'm just not a fan of Nu's 'brat' and Zee's 'brat tamer' dynamic. I think they're both probably better than this is but their fans LOVE that dynamic so I don't think they'll be escaping it anytime soon. This was just a bloated mess. 2/5

Love in the air - I am not a mame fan. I think she's a shit tier fanfic writer who needs some serious therapy. But when that women achieves casting excellence her shtick becomes pulpy and addictive. Everything about the plot is red flag central but you cant keep your eyes off. Personally I rated the FortPeat pairing higher than the BossNouel one but both had their charms. (I fast forward the gang rape scene because jesus fuck mame why.) 3/5

Wedding Plan - This was a thing that I watched. Boring, badly paced and didn't even get good spicy scenes because it was a partnership with GMMTV. Snooze fest. Unless you're a person who thinks Mame is actually a good writer, you won't get much from this. 1/5

This feels like an autistic-ass answer but... it depends. If it's someone he loves romantically and who he believes is his soul mate, he would, and it would be an easy decision. But this hasn't happened since he's become an adult.

For other people he loves deeply: The whole world? It would be a very hard decision. I think he would do it for Sampson. And that's it, at the moment. And after Sampson exits his life and/or dies, it would be very rare for someone else to get to that level.

For those who Know: I think JP would get to this level, whether or not Mark ends up being with him romantically. But that won't happen for awhile.

-SCARECROW IS SUCH A FREAK I LOVE HIM. I’m so happy he got to be one of the main villains this season, and idk the guy who voiced him, but he was killing it. and I LOVE that Bruce was able to bribe scarecrow to help by promising to give him a copy of a super rare horror movie… was a little sad that Autumn didn’t make an appearance and wasn’t mentioned though

-Harvey/two-face is everything to me and every interaction he has with Bruce makes me so insane like Bruce really cares for him so much :’(

-CREEPER REFERENCE HELL YES. I would also love to see Jack Ryder actually become the creeper at some point but I will take what I can get

-I love catwoman and vicki vale and I loved their one interaction this season but I need more of that PLEASE

-Harley Quinn was awesome too but I kind of hope she doesn’t team up with the joker I feel like she’s so much fun on her own

-generally speaking I find it a little tiring that every single time scarecrow shows up in anything it involves him using his fear toxin to make bruce relive his parents’ murder again… however I felt like having a little cartoon batmite there to narrate and berate bruce was honestly kind of awesome and made it much more interesting so. Also Bruce’s method method of escaping the hallucination did not seem healthy (psychologically speaking) at all, but also this version of batman (and all versions really) is definitely a little but fucked up so it made sense

-was kind of expecting joycure to be a bigger problem than it was, also they kind of just dropped the plotline with the mayor (I’m guessing that they just couldn’t get that guy who voiced him, forgot his name… the ted lasso guy) but I was entertained enough by the plot of this season that I didn’t really mind

texts like hes writing with a quill and parchment, like hes writing MISSIVES TO SEND OFF INTO THE VALLEY OF YONDER.

in terms of vocabulary (he's used the word "posthaste" and the sentence "I also lack such leisure" sounds like it came from a black and white photograph) hes slightly archaic.

and his sentence construction ("A name that rings familiar", vyn, it's a TEXT, why do you sound like a yellowed note found in a haunted house) like, vyn texts as if he's a fucking lovelorn maiden sending letters off to his lover who is fighting in the war

HE REFUSES TO USE CONTRACTIONS AND IT DRIVES ME NUTS. vyn richter says FUCK UR APOSTROPHES!!! it must be Should Not (not shouldnt) must be I Will (not i'll). apostrophes found dead in a ditch and vyn richter killed them all.

the reason why im getting "My Dearest Rose, My Most Beloved Lover, When Shall You Return To Me?" kinda shtick from vyn is because his word choice seems to be chosen for aesthetics and vibes, his sentence construction does not scream utility but instead screams DRAMA, the lack of contractions betrays the writer's desire for the reader to SAVOR EACH WORD. vyn could just text "I don't have that kind of time" or "That's familiar" but he wont because that lacks the PANACHE he so desperately maintains in almost every aspect of his gosh dang self.

(sidenote: im so sorry for his students, lol???? most profs ive encountered write rlly short and to the point emails and usually it ends with "Sent from my Ipad" because profs rarely give a fuck about looking smart in emails. but dr. vyn richter...the emails he'll be sending will be...an experience lmao)

although he HAS been noted to say "Heh" in chat. i wouldnt put it past him to type a "Hehe" if he's feeling particularly mischievous (or if he REALLY wants to unnerve others). in the nxx gc, he's not above engaging in some squabbles against the others (but in his defense, marius is always starting it, haha) but generally he's civil, tho he is VERY CAPABLE of passive aggression. vyn's Off The Shits texts would be like "Respectfully, get fucked. Best regards," in a cursive font

overall: vyn texts gracefully to the point that he sounds like he shouldnt exist in the year 2030 but instead in an old regal portrait in a musuem.

artem wing texts like there's a job to be done and (he gets that job done)

texts EXTREMELY TO THE POINT. i dont notice anything special with his vocabulary or sentence structure; he uses ordinary words and puts them all together in efficient messages and he uses contractions when it's smoother to do so. what i DO notice though is that ALL his messages in the nxx gc (his personal texts r another matter) are the following: questions, answers, observations, and MC I'm Worried About You Please Stay Safe.

artem texts as a means for no nonsense information exchange which very much fits who he is as a whole!!! the conversation needs to move forward productively but he isnt immune to using a message to compliment mc or express one (1) feeling.

additionally, that one bit in the symphony of the night event chat where vyn and marius were throwing rocks at each other through texts and artem came in like "shut up" and then steered the convo back on track n just STEAMROLLING over vyn and marius trying to continue their insult hurling like KJBSJKGSDSSD. artem is really the mom friend of this group. hes like "Is This Necessary? No? Well Then Stop Talking About It."

overall: artem texts pragmatically and clearly and for a purpose. of all the boys, he's the one i personally would enjoy communicating with the most because i value clarity a LOT.

sidenote: however, i do think that artem, in his effort to find the most efficient sentence, sometimes does not realize connotations of words/phrases. so like at themis law firm, he's definitely sent the emails pictured below (can we get a prayer for the poor intern who got these emails? they had a heart attack....)

thankfully, marius von hagen and luke pearce are texting like normal people

im lumping these two together because theyre pretty similar on basically all strictly language fronts: vocabulary, sentence construction, contractions, punctuation (they both like using "!" and sometimes "!?", theyre so cute lol)

i do wanna note that marius does like going for the occasional onomatopoeia. "Tch", "Uh", "Ah" that kind of stuff. i like it a lot because it fits marius who is just so fucking noisy all the time HAHA.

in terms of behavior, theyre also p similar. though, marius is more likely to give in to his desire to be a bit of a shithead and go off topic. marius is also more likely to share his opinions and thoughts (and yeah theyre related to the case but compared to the rest of the boys, marius is rlly like "im sorry what, we have to go to a school??? STUDENTS R INVOLVED IN THE INTERNATIONAL CYBERCRIME????") which also fits because marius loves letting everybody know that hey! hes here! and him being here means he has STUFF TO SAY

luke is the CHILLEST PERSON in the gc, in terms of texting. he doesnt clash against the others, keeps the convo going, and is polite in a laid back way. the only time in the nxx gc i saw him experience some kind of intense emotion was when i made my mc go "but i can go to the abandoned server room on my own"

and then luke starts texting gravely as if HE AND EVERYBODY ELSE IN THE GC IS ABOUT TO FUCKING DIE. no chill on this dudes. theres either 0 stakes or ALL OF THEM to the highest degree. very much fits luke's tendency to be like "haha im having a wonderful time and im smiling and now ive spiraled into a ditch of despair and suffering and sadness"

IZANA

- this is an interesting one because from what we know about izana, he is very similar in personality to akutagawa in terms of ruthlessness that stems from childhood trauma and isolation.

- in the case of a s/o with this personality, I think it would be a troubling relationship. lots of bitter fights fuelled by nothing but an inability to express vulnerability, while leaving both of you torn up inside and begging for someone to nurture the trauma and allow space for emotions.

- that being said, with toxicity and trauma also comes intense passion and desire. this relationship brings a lot of fire both in the bedroom and outside of the bedroom, with simple arguments often spawning into intense desperate (and lengthy might I add) sex. like, intense. it's almost like sex is the only safe outlet of these pent up emotions, providing a sort of comfort and also distraction for both parties.

- however as I said in general, this is definitely a toxic relationship. one where neither can help the other when it comes to growth and improvement on a personal level. it's unhealthy and enabling, but for a short lived fling it is hot as fuck im not even gonna lie. lots of hate sex too.

WAKASA

- so wakasa is another interesting one alongside izana given the lack of information and content we have about his character so please excuse the slight kc fanon version I have in my head of wakasa lol

- wakasa has a "don't fuck with me because I do not fucking care" type of vibe to him. I definitely think he's the type to completely disengage from the type of behaviours an akutagawa-type s/o might display. this leads to sort of a sense of competitiveness in trying to get some kind of reaction from him, and it has the potential (much like izana) to become toxic in nature

- any attempts to get under his skin are failed attempts, and the way he looks at you with that half bored expression is something that only triggers more of a somewhat emotional response from you.

- with that being said, my fanon version of wakasa is someone who while cold and aloof, is also quite a rational person. he's been typed by the fandom as INTJ which is quite a quick thinker, and I think he probably (despite not showing it very well) has a soft spot for you. but your passion and intensity (as well as your easily triggered dynamic) keeps him from completely being able to express this care in any way other than not engaging with your antics

- as much as there are some similarities with the type of toxicity in this relationship with both wakasa and izana, the intense passion isn't quite the same as it is with izana. instead, feelings of passion are more to the point and driven by pure instinct and desire rather than toxic passion. wakasa seeming like a very literal person, is actually quite mysterious deep down and has a lot (I mean a lot) of hidden desires and kinks that begin to emerge with time. it's rarely a conversation, and more often just something that happens that surprises you. you just have to go with the flow here, and let him take the reigns for once. it might actually be a good opportunity to allow for vulnerability to take the spotlight for once, which is something wakasa is surprisingly in tune with and quite to the point about.

CHIFUYU

- this is something much healthier than the last two. chifuyu, being an enfp is someone that's able to handle this level of intensity in a person while still being able to understand what's really going on.

- call him the trauma counsellor king. he values each and every response to a trigger that you might have. he notices patterns, he makes mental notes of things, and he does this all without making it seem like he's analyzing.

- to be honest he actually loves the spunk you bring on a day to day level. even though most of the time it's driven by bitterness or hate (not always towards him just in general) he is still able to see beyond that and appreciate you for what you are.

- with that being said, chifuyu will not stand for any toxic behaviour towards him. no sir he will not. threats and pushes for fights wont be tolerated, and he will either disengage or try to expose your vulnerabilities in an attempt at forced submission. this can be hard to get used to, especially with having a personality characterized by the inability to accept being vulnerable. but with time chifuyu is one to create a safe space for you to allow yourself to feel emotions beyond anger and resentment, and he encourages this.

- because of this very feelings based approach, intimacy with chifuyu is just that: intimate. he's extremely loving and doting, hoping that his sweetness can rub off on you a little bit. however he's also very accepting of your need for power over him (especially during sex) and will absolutely submit to your needs in order to please you.

- he really likes to put you in a place of pleasure though, so however that may come to you chifuyu is the one to deliver it.

KAZUTORA

- oh boy. this one is a doozy. listen. if we're talking about timeskip kazutora (as is the case with all characters i write about but I feel it especially important to remind ppl of here given his history), we're talking about someone who is quite literally walking on eggshells in terms of his trauma and emotional vulnerability.

- he's pretty good at being emotionally aware of his needs and struggles as well as the needs and struggles of those around him, but that doesn't mean that he's entirely healed or capable of managing toxicity or his triggers. he still slips up from time to time especially when things get hard, and sometimes finds himself falling into his old patterns. after all, he's only human. but this is where things could get messy in a relationship.

- for the most part, like I said, he's pretty good. so let's focus on that part first since I want to give him credit where it's due. he is very desperate for love and dedicated to providing something to his partner. in this case, he will seek to tap into his emotional vulnerability to provide some sort of comfort for you. he wants to see you happy, and calm, because he sees so much of his old self in you that it gets to him sometimes. but at the same time, he struggles with your relentlessness and can become emotionally drained when things get tough. he'll beat himself up for not being good enough to help you, and this is when he'll isolate and fall into old patterns.

- however, akutagawa's personality type isn't all bad. with a s/o like akutagawa, comes an immense amount of protection and loyalty for their loved ones no matter how tough things might be. in this case it might be hard to communicate this, but there will be times when it's needed in order for kazutora to restrain from old habits and ways of dealing with hardships. but he wants to share his healing with you, he wants you to be happy, and more than anything he understands the struggle of wanting to be happy and healthy but being afraid of losing the one thing that makes you you: your attitude and relentlessness. nobody understands this better than kazutora, which is why things between you can get frustrating and very personal for him.

- much like chifuyu, sex is driven towards pleasing you and only you. chifuyu leans more into switch territory however, while kazutora is 100% submissive. in this case it works out well, however he has a lot of boundaries and limitations when it comes to the way in which you function. he doesn't like degradation. instead, he thrives from praise and any sign of love and care. this might be tough for you to execute 100% of the time, but when it comes down to it the way his eyes twinkle for you is enough to make the ice around your heart melt just a little more each time.

So 1) anons horrific misuse of aave is a pitiful attempt to try get you to take them seriously, especially how they poorly make an argument that this show is somehow inherently racist because bad things happen to the black and brown characters. I guess they thought they’d legitimize their argument if we thought they were black? That’s not quite how that works: do we really think Candace Owens has legitimate arguments just cuz she’s black? Hell no.

Also as an aside to nonny, in 2024, there is not a single black person who still says “finna.” We actually stopped doing that years ago when whites jumped on that so hard. Just as a general rule of thumb whites, the second you and your white friends start using a certain term yall stole from us, we’ve already stopped using it and have moved on to something else. This is why we can always tell when a white person is pretending to be black: yall use outdated words that you don’t even know are outdated to us and it always raises our eyebrows. Maybe if you actually hung out with black ppl you could stay current but I know yall ain’t gonna do that so moving on.

2) in another “you know how I know anon isn’t black,” your reasons for why you think this show is racist doesn’t make sense considering the black experience. Black women experience domestic abuse at higher rates than women of other races. We also experience being cheated on too. Fucking Beyoncé made an entire album about how Jay cheated on her. Cmon cuz? Are we not human too, or is being cheated on only a thing we can see white ppl experience on tv because it’s just soooooooooo rare for them to experience it so it’s not problematic huh?

This shows that you’re not in black spaces where we discuss representation in media. The goal of providing representation isn’t to only show black ppl in a “positive” light. It’s about showing nuanced portrayals that explore the complexities of our humanity past the point of the stereotypes and archetypes we are always limited to in media. I’ve had extremely in depth talks about how this show is quite literally the first of its kind in how Louis’ portrayal in this show is the most nuanced and human portrayal (ironically so given he spends most of it a vampire) of a black man (especially a gay black man) in tv history. In fact, how Louis experiences and responds to racism and deals with race is what roots him in his humanity. It’s why he can’t fully give it up, much to a white Lestat’s chagrin. In the movie/book, Louis is just some special vampire dude who can’t let go of his humanity for idk tortured soul reasons because Louis is just so special and brooding and a deep thinker ooooh. But in the show, they show us exactly why Louis can’t let go of his humanity. And it’s not for vague angsty reasons but because of his race. Because the human invention of race and racism won’t allow him to live in the world without having to deal with that. He’s forced to stay connected because humans won’t let him forget what being a black man means to them. Him being a vampire be damned.

This is also why in Dubai, he’s living an isolated lifestyle with little to no interaction with the outside world. Because it’s the only way he can BE a vampire on totality. He’s so much a vampire that his only major connection to his humanity is occasionally eating proper food. He can’t fully embrace his vampiric nature and be among humans at the same time. So it’s other isolate or remain in that state of conflict as he constantly struggles with how him being a vampire conflicts with being around humans while him being around humans makes it difficult for him to be a proper vampire.

But back to my point, race roots Louis in his humanity. This show makes a very interesting observation that racism is a human condition, and the fact that Louis experiences it even as a vampire is why he can never fully part from his humanity. It’s so nuanced, complex, and honestly compelling.

When black ppl were complaining about how any time Hollywood wanted to do a story about black people, it was a race story or a slave story, it was because the story was always about how this horrible thing happened to black people and the general message would be like “wow aren’t you nig-er I mean blackies happy we don’t do this to you anymore ? 😃” and it’s disgusting. It’s like they want to shove it down our throats to say “hey mind your manners cuz we could always go back to this so be grateful and stop complaining.” Meanwhile we’re still experiencing racism, it just changed in how it operates, and we’re silenced with these narratives because we’re just supposed to be happy it’s not like that.

That’s also why Jordan Peele’s Get Out resonated with us btw. Because it was more about how we black Americans experience racism TODAY. Not 60 years ago or 200 years ago. And at the time, ZERO stories about us did that. It was revolutionary.

But that is also what makes Louis’s story in the show and his portrayal by Jacob Anderson so compelling. If you watched game of thrones and saw him in that, you’d never imagine that he could act LIKE THIS. Because the show didn’t give his character much to show off his acting chops. But then you see him in this, as the fucking star of the show, and you’re like whoa. And me and my friend who discuss this show asked ourselves “what other Black actors could come through like this but never get the chance because no one wants to write nuanced stories about us?”

As a black actor, especially someone from the UK like a lot of the black and brown actors on this show are, your options are limited. You’re mostly either going to be a token black on a period drama, a minor/background character in a contemporary story, or a stereotype. That’s it. We don’t get to be brooding, messy, emotionally vulnerable, haunted, sympathetic, poetic, thoughtful, or complicated. We are only allowed to exist in shiny neat boxes so the whites can easily handle us without having to think about us and how we experience the world too much. But this show doesn’t shy away from that. It FORCES us as the audience to face the reality of how the very conflict Louis faces is rooted in the racism he experiences. And it forces us to confront it instead of brushing it off as an issue of the times or whatever.

And so to say that Jacob, Delainey, Assad (it’d have to be another post to get into the extremely limited portrayal of south Asian men and how there has also NEVER been a role like Armand for them ever, so this is literally a once in a lifetime opportunity for him to do something on tv that’s never been done before), Bailey, or any other black and brown actor are participating in racism for being on this show is INSANELY racist and offensive to say. Because you’re putting us in a box. You’re saying that black and brown actors are only allowed to portray stereotypical portrayals of ourselves where nothing happens to us and you don’t have to face the ugly shit we experience too because YES WE’RE HUMAN TOO. It’s dehumanizing, reductive, and racist as all get out.

Confidence out the roof. The Sun is what we strive to be/our essence. He's Proud, Bold, Confident, takes up space and does not care who likes it. They love playing more than Leo Moons too in my experience. This sign really shines in the Sun placement. They walk in and command a room. While a Leo Moon is more interpersonal and warm with close friends, a Leo sun is THERE. Severen is cracking jokes with anyone, making grand gestures and kicking the door down to let everyone know he's arrived. Look how he entered that bar and loudly insulted everyone; that is the most Leo Sun thing I've ever seen especially if he has a Fire Moon.

Mars is your passions. He is hot tempered, impulsive, takes action right away, has hardly any fear even from the sun despite it hurting him, they like shit said straight away no diplomacy or beating around the bush. Hot tempered but just as easy to forgive and forget bc they get it all out in the open the minute they're pissed off. He wanted to rip Caleb apart, and the night after that, gave him his spur for doing a good job the night before. Water under the bridge! Then wanted to rip him apart again bc of him betraying them. This may be surprising but as a Scorpio Venus, I know another Scorpio Venus when I see one. We don't trust ppl easily, we don't open up easily but when we do like you? OMG. We are extremely protective, possesive and loyal to you and depending on the other placements it can be jealous and obsessive as well. It is one of the most loyal signs in Venus but also the most toxic. You can tell he doesn't accept newcomers easily, look how he was with Caleb. it's kind of late at night when you guys go since either way, he wants to do his best not to get you in trouble lol

you do actually want to learn and stay (mostly) focused for the first bit, until kō decides he wants a water break

so you sit on the bleachers and wait for him while he goes and grabs a water bottle out of the club room

but when he sits down next to you,,,,

you kinda don't even realize you're staring until you hear a little laugh and a "what?" and look up to see him leaning back on the row of seats behind him

tsum tsum's been pretty busy lately and hasn't gotten to see you a ton the past couple weeks, so he decides to skip practice and surprise you one day

he did not expect you to go off on him for it lmao

but once you stop to take a breath, he points out that there's no point in going all the way back to the gym now; he's already missed like half of it and it's easier to come up with an excuse for missing a day than it is for showing up like an hour late

so you're like, "fine, i guess," and then you have the wonderful idea that if he's not gonna show up to practice, maybe he could at least get some in by teaching you

"are you kidding lmao, you suck, how is that gonna be practice?" "stfu tsumu"

so he's agrees and decides to demonstrate some basic stuff first, just so you can get an idea of how much you suck compared to him what it should look like

you're seated on the ground watching him when you notice how his thighs flex when he jumps and how tight that ass is

you don't even realize you're staring until he goes, "okay, now you try," and you go, "try what," your eyes still fixed on his legs

it takes him a second to realize what exactly you were looking at and he thinks it's the funniest fucking thing lmao, and he turns around and like, smacks his ass or attempts to throw it back or something until you're laughing so hard your stomach cramps

you don't end up playing volleyball because 1) by the time you manage to stop laughing you're literally sore and 2) tumu's missed you the past week and now he just wants to hear you laugh more 💕

you can hear the boys practicing out back when you get to the miya's to hang out with samu, and out of curiosity you head over to watch since you rarely get to watch them practice at school and the vibes during actual games just aren't the same

samu sees you and is about to head inside to get showered and changed so you guys can hang out

you surprise both of them by asking if you can join instead

(atsumu complains that it's unfair that it's him versus the two of you and you have to shut him up by pointing out that you're probably gonna end up dragging osamu down because you've never played before)

it's not going too badly until samu suggests that you have a try at serving

which means that he's standing several feet in front of you

which means that you have a very clear view of his ass

he's also wearing grey gym shorts, which does not help (or does help a lot, depending on how you look at it)

atsumu notices you staring first, since osamu has his back to you

you go "fuck this" and run up and smack samu's ass LMAO

he turns around and just stares at you for a good few minutes and then drags you inside

a few moments later he excuses himself for a water break and walks over to you, smiling like he's about to do something you're not going to enjoy

"i don't even play—" and then he shoves a ball into your hands. where'd it come from? who knows.

and you don't really do much, at least until you narrowly miss getting smacked in the head with the ball because you're too busy staring at him, watching the way he moves, gym shorts clinging to his sweaty skin, and thinking about sitting on his lap on the train back to your place after this

to flesh out the idea i had earlier:

the hspc wants to train a quirkless hero bc right now quirkless ppl have no attachment nor loyalty to the hero system, they are not represented among them

that makes quirkless ppl a threat, so the hspc needs to create a quirkless hero who will settle and satiate the quirkless masses

enter 1 midoriya izuku, a four year old who wants to be a hero so bad and just found out hes quirkless

the hspc swoop in and offer the boy a deal he cant refuse. inkos a little more wary but theyre offering her sons dream and she can trust the hspc to keep her boy safe, right?

little midoriya izuku starts being trained to be a hero: 4 hours of the day on physical training, 4 on mental.

he gets no break days and whenever he complains abt being tired (rarely) they call him ungrateful

"we're giving you the chance if a lifetime, and you cant even tolerate this much effort? what kind of hero could you possibly be?"

they increase the amount of training as he gets older so by the time hes thirteen: 7 hrs physical, 7hrs mental

whenever hes not sleeping is 'free time' but he cant go outside and he only has books about heroes. he gets into quirk analysis bc its really his only option

hes kinda friends w hawks, since they were often trained together. they werent allowed to be around eachother v often to prevent them from forming a bond and to maintain a sense of competition

the issue with izuku is that he asks too many questions, pokes his nose where it doesnt belong

hes very polite about it, extremely well mannered, but he still has morals, has faith in heroes

is trained to call all his handlers and teachers 'sir'

he figures out that the hspc is doing some fucked up thing (havent firgured out what yet, maybe they experiment on villains that they dont even bother holding trials for. is that too tongue in cheek?)

hes like, u better stop or im leaving one way or another

the fucked up thing is nore important than izukus value as a quirkless hero, so they let him leave

not w/o ensuring (violently) that he wont tell anyone

izuku is thrown out in the snow bc i think blood on snow is dramatic and cliche and i love dramatic cliches

he is picked up by afo who was actually planning to go back and help inko raise izuku after finding out he was quirkless but he was taken in by the hspc

getting him out of the hspc would jeopardize many things, izukus life probably included

he knows immediately once izukus out and goes to pick him up

shigaraki and izuku dont get aling at first bc izuku loves heroes but they mesh weirdly well bc izuku is super diligent and always practcijg and shigaraki forces him to learn to relax

izuku doesnt like violent video games

the first present izuku gets from his newfound family (inko also moved in dont think im forgetting her) is animal crossing and a ds to play it on

its his favorite thing in the world

one issue: he calls afo 'sir' and afo simply does ot care for that. he doesnt do it to inko bc shes mom or shigaraki bc hes a peer. hes hawks age so izuku doesnt consider him to be old enough to be a 'sir'

the rest of the fic is fluff with all for one trying ridiculous schemes to get his son to call him 'dad'

they go on some sort of mission where all for one and izuku pretend to be father and son (even though they are that) and izuku just calls him father

afo's smile is weirdly strained for this entire incident and next week on the news it turns out an hspc agent died huh wonder who did that

the fic ends w him succeeding bc i think itd be nice
