Virtual Phantoms
݁₊ ⊹ Project Sekai x Phantom of the Opera
In this au, the Virtual Singers are an urban legend and group of spirits made from the lost and dead dreams of the artists referred to as the Virtual Phantoms for the way they interact with technology.
Virtual Phantoms make different vows each time they're created from the negative feelings and distress of artists. However they don't always drive people out of the place their resentment was born in. Sometimes they're made from the distress of artists over personal reasons, art block, or not knowing where to go next. Ultimately they vow to help the artists in whatever way they decide is best from their own ghostly perspectives.
Sekais exist as a space separated from the general world, but the Virtual Phantoms oddly seem to be unaware of them?
The Virtual Phantoms can sense the emotions of the living and interact with the physical world at the cost of some energy. While they're incapable of other ghostly abilities like mind reading and meeting people in their dreams, they make up for it with more strength than normal poltergeists and the ability to mimic the living for short periods. They respond to the negative feelings of artists due to their source from artist's distress and unhappiness. But they're especially sensitive to groups they feel are about to separate within the spaces they haunt. They have a particular investment towards the artists residing in or working at the place their resentment was born in. Virtual Phantoms also tend to linger for a few years after until the resentment built up within the location dissipates regardless of whether or not ownership had changed.
Depending on if they feel an artist is stressed from personal reasons or they're being threatened by their company, their actions range from petty tricks to relentless harassment leading the targets of their attention barely being able to stand the environment.

Project Sekai x Phantom of the Opera but the phantom is the vocaloids. They haunt the building of a new music company Dream: On! that just signed on 5 independent groups.
+ This AU has sekais, but vocaloids don’t exist on the internet. They’re a type of phantom and urban legend that protects artists!
Dream: On! - A small and new company started by an enthusiastic entrepreneur. With an adoration for music but no talent for it themselves, they decided to found a music company in order to foster new music talent. However without the financial ability of a nepo corp, they found themselves struggling to find space to house their talents until their realtor offered a building that no one else wanted.
݁₊ ⊹ Virtual Singer
A group made of phantoms the former entertainment company using the building upset. They’re a group of spirits made from the lost and dead dreams of the artists who the former entertainment company took advantage of. Now they vow to never let another dream die in their building again.
݁₊ ⊹ Leo/Need
An indie band and the first group to sign on to Dream: On! They started their group in high school as sophomores, but after two years passed and they were ready to graduate they decided they still wanted to live on with their dream. Together they decided to sign a one-year contract with a small music label together in order to be more stable than an indie group as well as ease their parents' worries. They decided on Dream: On! because a recruiter approached Shiho at the end of one of their shows, but once they moved in problems started arising? They had figured any issues that could arise would be with creative freedom and with the company's brand, but from what Saki heard from staff, it seems their biggest problem is ghosts!
+ Their friendship and bond in the practice room despite all the events happening caught the attention of a certain ghost.
݁₊ ⊹ More More Jump!
An indie idol group brought together by their enthusiastic leader and the third group to be signed on. Since their start they’ve had a small but extremely loyal and active fan base, and while they weren’t planning to sign onto a company again. But when Airi and Shizuku came closer to graduation while Minori and Haruka were still a year below them, they decided to sign onto a music label in order to keep everyone together. They all started making lists together of companies to join, Minori and Shizuku picked the same company by coincidence, making the only common company among any of their lists. Shizuku picked the building because of its location whereas Minori picked it based on her gut feeling. They’re the first group out of 5 that the company signed on their first year who actively came to them first. During the interview process, however, Airi and Haruka were practically the interviewers, making sure to get every detail written down about what treatment they’d get, their working schedules, and negotiated for almost total creative freedom.
+ Their efforts during the interview and their reflection beforehand about how they picked the company caught the attention of a certain ghost.
݁₊ ⊹ Vivid Bad Squad
The second group scouted by the company at their second anniversary show. Initially, they denied the offer, but after their graduation, they found it was harder to stay together while studying for university and working. Toya heard about Dream: On! through Tsukasa when he talked about the new music label his sister had joined. After a long talk between the group, they decided to join the label under the condition they would stay true to their goal to pass RAD and drop them if their core values as a band were ever threatened. An took the lead in calling the recruiter on the card and scheduled an interview with the company for the following week, but when they arrived at their meeting Kohane overheard staff mentioning something about a ghost?
+ Their resolve to always be themselves and work towards their goals caught the attention of a certain ghost.
݁₊ ⊹ Wonderland x Showtime
Emu asked them to join the company together. A year after their group's founding and senior year for Tsukasa and Rui. Tsukasa wanted to branch out and leave the group in order to follow his dream of acting, so Emu and Nene decided to think of a way to keep WxS together. After talking with Rui, they came up with the idea to join a music label in order to stay together. After convincing Tsukasa to join with them as a joint group under an official music company and Phoenix Wonderland, they asked around about a group. Then Emu heard about Dream: On! from Honami. Everything was going great for them and Phoenix Wonderland took care of planning their contracts, but after a while of being there, Nene started noticing things were more odd than usual? She brought it up to Rui one day after Emu and Tsukasa were busy and they heard odd sounds from the halls that sounded like laughter.
+ Their eccentric attitude and actions as a group caught the attention of a certain pair of ghosts.
݁₊ ⊹ Nightcord at 25:00
The last group to be signed on to the company. Mizuki, Mafuyu, and Ena begged Kanade to sign on with them after Ena heard of them from Airi. After a long time (and Airi personally promised that the company treated their talents well), Kanade agreed and they applied to the company. The CEO was ecstatic because, unlike the others, while Nightcord appeals to a specific niche genre, they’re one of the most popular artists in it. Kanade and Ena’s conditions were that they could work from home apart from scheduled meetings with their boss. Mizuki and Mafuyu also requested access to the building and their practice rooms at night. Mizuki, Ena, and Kanade’s conditions were total creative freedom over music, design, and costume respectively whereas Mafuyu requested the ability to decorate their practice room as she liked.
+ Their calm demeanor and comfort in each other’s presence caught the attention of a certain ghost.
