Something changed in her uncle, she could tell from the posture. A faint beam of hope of avoiding fate shone through the swirling, suffocating darkness. Then, instead of casually lowering the weapon he sidestepped. Her eyes widened in shock, whirling fully towards the ex-gang leader; she loved him, yes. Trusted that he won't shoot her? Yes. Convinced he won't shoot Sandy? No.

"Just about time Sanderson." came the usually velvet voice strained with part of the worry lifted from his shoulders. Part of him ached to question the whole... uncle case, damn, he could've lived without this experience.

He lowered his gun as well after a few torturously slow seconds crawling by, eventually - but not without a devil of a second thought- slid the weapon into its holster.

" A lot of things happened after that Little Man. I am not going to deny my sins nor that I would do differently. But I have had my fair share of losses and betrayal; you would probably be thrilled to hear about them." Pitch was careful to not cross the sliver strand of trust or truce yet couldn't stop the drops of bitterness creeping into his voice before his attention was drawn to the gun still steadily held into his face

"Are you pointing " he paused for a second to be sure " 'Salvation' at me? How ironic." He was actually getting used to being held at gunpoint enough for remarks

Cindy remained unmoving, rigid and at alert a statue frozen in time, not fully trusting either of them just yet. Then, she hurled Salvation at Pitch.

"You IDIOT HOW COULD YOU NOT MAKE SURE THAT YOUR GREATEST RIVAL IS INDEED DEAD YOU DUMBASS?? AND YOU CALL YOURSELF A PROFESSIONAL?!?" tears were freely rushing down her cheeks, both from the pent up frustration, fear and the looming fact she was fully ready to shoot them.

"AND YOU, YOU ANOTHER IDIOT!!!" Cindy turned to Sandy "I'M ANNOUNCING IM OFF TO SNUFF OUT A FULL GANG AND YOU STILL DON'T TELL ME HOW YOU ENDED UP LIKE THIS??"

"I WOULD'VE SNIPED HIM FROM A GODDAMN ROOFTOP INSTEAD OF FUCKING HIM IF I HAD KNOWN!!"

With the last declaration the hunter curled into a ball, the flow of her loud waterfall of tears never creasing, the ghost of the scene of losing everyone important in a split second still haunted her mind and probably will do so.

"Can I....comfort her or are you going to shoot me if I touch her?" Pitch finally spoke, wisely deciding against protesting about the last statement

"DON'T YOU FUCKING DARE YOU VENGEFUL MIDGET" Cindy screamed at her uncle, last thing she needed was him suddenly changing into overprotective mode

The prophecy of her being the judge in an impossible situation haunted her; the fact that she was already planning the move how to snuff out both of their lives within a split second scared her. Granted, it would be painless, they even wouldn’t notice the swift death arriving; after all lightning was a split second, the rumble was late.

“Sandy… I love him.”

Probably the last sentence which might have convinced the little man deciding against the suicide shot. Her knuckles white on the grips, fingers dangerously ghosting the trigger

“I want a family. He wants it too, that’s why we’re here. I wanted to introduce him to my uncle.” Her chest heaved as she fought the urge to cry; she can’t have anything blurring her vision.

“Either no one dies, or we all do here.” She declared the verdict, just as the fortune teller predicted. Cindy would lie if she claimed she was ready. But what she surely know that she would not lose any of them. She has had watched her family burn alive once, the experience will not repeat itself, even if it meant she will administer the final sentence and perish with them after.

Never in a million years could he have imagined this. He had never thought anyone could come between him and Pitch, that their final battle would be just the pair of them finishing off an old feud. In Sandy’s eyes, Pitch was irredeemable and he was sure in Pitch’s it was much the same, he would chase him to the ends of the Earth if he lived.

He believed that Cindy had been tricked, blinded and conned into loving him for that man was not worthy of such a precious thing as love. He believed that she did love him though, con or not, she would not have said so if she did not truly love him and for her ultimatum, she left him no choice.

Even if he killed Pitch and in doing so he hoped saved her from falling for his con, she would never forgive him and he would die as well never having the chance to explain. He did not want her to pull the trigger on him either and suffer that guilt. He hoped this way she would forgive him in time, that he did this in the hopes of protecting her.

He would have to show her who he knew the other to be. He knew the moment he lowered his gun or dropped his guard, Pitch would fire, with a breath of resigning himself to his fate, he pulled his gun back so it was loose in his hand and pointed to the ceiling and stepped to the side away from Cindy. Giving Pitch a clear shot.
