Calendula officinalis (Pot marigold)

Two hundred years ago, calendula preparations would have been found in every doctor’s bag. It’s flowers were used in ancient Greek, Roman, Middle-Eastern and Indian cultures as a medicinal herb. 

I found this one yesterday growing in a sunny ‘micro-climate’ down by the beach. Considering that the rest of the country is covered in snow, this may literally be the last calendula in Canada.
