A part of me stays whenever a place starts to feel like home. On days we're I'm stuck in permanency my heart travels back to where a part of me was left behind. :) #Sunsets #waves #batmanflow #homesickforanotherworld #alhumdulillahforeverything #posttravelsyndrome #posttravelblues #posttravelfeels (at Naval Base, Potenga)

Back to the place I once belonged. Some call it post-travel syndrome, others just call it mental jet-lag. Be it what you call it being aware of parallel realities and endless possibilities makes it harder or almost impossible to readjust. . Back to NYC for some days. Next: Russian for a personal exhibition and new assignment in #Ufa . #Storytelling #LoveisLove #posttravelsyndrome

Life After Travel
Ah the life of a traveler. Where days consist of driving from one beach to the next, just trying to find the best spot to relax. Visiting a patisserie three times in one day just so you can sample every pastry to find your favourite (because let’s face it - you’re on holiday and there are no rules when it comes to diet). Exploring new cities, towns and monuments that you have dreamed of your entire life and everyday being mentally and physically challenged by these new locations, languages and cultures.
Consistently new, different and exciting things are happening. Life is a thrill, effervescent with excitement, change and newness. There is nothing familiar to you but the clothes on your back and your perhaps your travel companion.
Traveling is like unlocking your brain a further 200% when you begin to comprehend the complexity of the world and its people, much bigger and more evolved than you once knew. Yes, you are exhausted but it’s worth it. You start to understand further the appeal behind the lives of adrenaline junkies, because although you aren’t base jumping off of a cliff every day, you are plunging into new depths of life, constantly learning new things about the world and more significantly - yourself.
Then, you return home. Where everything is familiar, which may be nice for a moment, but how quickly that fades. You go back to your job, which you can do without thinking. Where you are greeted by the same faces day in and day out, where there is an overwhelming consistency and sameness, which before didn’t rattle you. Actually, you were once comfortable with the fact that life was easy and stable. However, now you see it as a burden. Life as you know it here has remained stagnant, whereas you have grown in leaps and bounds. You need some change, you crave newness, unfamiliarity and something to challenge you - in mind, body and soul.
So you quit your job. You look for a new place to live. You start to ponder what the hell your purpose is and what are going to do with yourself until you can go away again. You realise (as cliché as it sounds) travelling is like a drug and you have become an addict. You knew you would be morose about returning to “normal” life but you did not know it would wreck you.
Your mind has been opened to the fact that there is so much more to the world than the little space you occupy. Your little life in your little country seems oh so insignificant now that you have experienced what is outside of it.
So, what do you do next? Move countries? A possibility, but moving anywhere still gives you a sense of ease, comfort and safeness. How long do you need to be away before you are fulfilled? Before you crave that comfort zone? How do you fill the huge void in you that craves the thrill it didn’t even know of before? You can no longer be content with what you have and this frightens you.
You have come to truly admire nomads and those who are consistently travelling. People who have escaped the “systems of society” and are roaming free with no real “home” or end date in sight, but just themselves and the world to discover. Easier said than done of course, but you are your priorities and so now you must identify what it is that keeps you going.
The time has come to set goals, to dream of your next destination and live life trying to keep in mind that where you are currently, is only ever temporary.

That Post Travel Thing!
I am home. And at the moment I am fully consumed by post travelling withdrawals. Ya, that bitch. I am sure all of us avid travellers do have that. When I arrived home this morning, my plan was to transfer all my photos from DSLR into my Macbook, just to keep my memories alive. But since I am still stuck in this withdrawal black hole, I am not going to do that. Not yet. Instead I will allow myself to wallow in tears, depression, angers… and of course with the help of few good cups of flat white.
I have not been successfully dealing with this phase yet. Probably because I just do not want to. Sometimes, solution to a problem is not everything. Sometimes, you just want to be sad and cry until that black clouds pass. So yeah, this is what I am going to do now.
Being emotional.
