it's nice that we're getting anything i guess, but, i'm gonna be what may come off as a little petty and whiny here; it'd be cool if either iteration of the gen 9 anime so far was actually about gen 9's characters instead of using them as cameos to promote original stories we have no investment in yet
it's like, i dunno, like the bait and switch with sonic appearing in wreck it ralph ads, except if wreck it ralph existing meant there would never be a sonic movie, and if you were invested in those characters and recognized they weren't generic platformer mascots, sucks for you, nobody cares
maybe they're just giving the DLC space to do its thing with them first (if they do anything at all...) but idk, i was cautiously optimistic about nemona in horizons, only for her to be a character of the day that the episode wasn't about, and pretty excited by "gen 9 prequel anime" only to find out it's going to be like, four short stories about OCs who have quick brushes with them. these are like the lacroix hint of what an anime about the game could've been like and you're left to imagine the rest yourself
i shouldn't be that surprised if the gen 8 anime reduced hero of galar hop to a character of the day with a level 5 wooloo in order to let the galaxy revolve around ash battling his brother because epic charizards, but man. what if it wasn't like that that now that ash is gone.
we haven't seen penny and team star at all because they're the hardest to talk about without bringing up the trauma of school bullying and the fear of being yourself at school when you're way too young to be dealing with all that drama responsibly. she's still learning to love and forgive herself and feel wanted.
arven's story is about, like, being a latchkey kid to a self-absorbed parent, being unsure how to feel about repairing the relationship or how seriously to take them saying they love him, and struggling to make friends due to misdirected resentment toward people he's jealous of for having apparently normal families and the stubborn self-reliance he was forced into. he's still trying to process things, find himself, and let people in.
nemona is supposed to have been a directionless lonely and depressed kid who hated being called gifted when everything was hard for her, until she met the player character and gained a peer who understood and appreciated she was a little different and she didn't have to mask her true self to have friends anymore. she's happy for now, but may still be under a little too much pressure to be perfect at the expense of her own personality, and probably won't deal well with being abandoned.
as much as they resonate with adults and are a little darker than usual pokemon fare, they're also smaller scale and realer. they are all stories that are explicitly about and meant to be relatable to kids going to school! y'know, your audience! you don't need to paint over them with 3-4 new characters and new stories every time like there was nothing there, or something shameful you need to sanitize and cover up! you can just use the game the way it is!
this got a little more heated than i intended, i just feel a little ridiculous waiting anxiously for loose scraps of a sign that this story isn't over and in the trash already and nemona's life-changing attachment to the player character isn't going to go totally ignored, as we are bombarded with what is supposed to be followup material that almost all seems eager to talk about literally anything else like they think the main story was a mistake they need to run away from
now, i'm not one to complain about original stories being told, but this was already a story that had room to grow. imagine a world where the gen 9 anime was actually about nemona, arven, penny, and the friend who brought them together. or what their lives were like before that friend came along. every episode. that would get me to watch the anime again and whatever movie came out for it. ask yourself why we don't have that, or even the traditional, like, 1-2 characters tagging along with the MCs per region thing that would leave us knowing them better than we know some irl friends
how was starting over with 100% original characters and new lore that might conflict hard with the upcoming DLC the safer bet? why is a 44 minute miniseries specifically for fans of the game making up OCs for them to get invested in and scrambling to tell their stories as quickly as possible before throwing them in the trash instead of being about the damn game?
sigh. i shouldn't get invested in a series that's about selling monster plushies just because it had one story that stuck with me
#paldean winds seems to mostly be making fun of the infodumping fat pokemon nerd character until he gets his own episode#y'know. the one that represents a lot of their viewers#while nemona is right there outside the window hyping up little kids about battles as usual because they don't hate her like her peers#honestly her overhearing the conversation and looking a little uncomfortable about it would've been a good touch#confirmation that the subtext i noticed is actually considered part of the canon and not a happy accident they'll never talk about again#something i have only gotten from pokemon masters so far#pokemon sv#pokemon#nemonaposting#pokemon scarvi#pokemon scarlet and violet#yada yada ten million other tags#'well at least there's the manga' the manga that inserted its own wacky main character that will probably also revolve around him#idk that one could still be good but it's also an AU and not the versions of the characters i'm invested in if that makes sense#i've been begging for pokemon to feel in touch with its audience forever and as soon as it is they treat it like a hot potato#i feel fucking obsessed because of how long this tease has been stretching on for no good reason#they could've just let us ACTUALLY hang out with the friend trio in vanilla postgame and shown them in the DLC a single time#and i could have had a normal social media presence for the past 3-6 months#instead of dreaming about a pokemon npc last night because of how little faith i have in her getting any justice outside of a fucking gacha#i am so sorry that this is who i am now except for the 2-3 of you who follow me specifically because i post these things#pennyposting#arvenposting

"An unfortunate byproduct of Danganronpa writing 50 seasons of 'Hope Guys', recycled tropes".... I am listening. 馃憗 Are you open to questions about the broader perception of Yoshito + his classmates, how the audience sees them, and what 50 seasons of killing games has done? Bc I have questions 馃憗
YEEEAAAAAAAAAA !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
referencing THESE GUYS!
YAYAYAYAY alright SO a lottttt of this story revolves around the postgame aspect of these people and how truly diluted danganronpa and by extension these characters have become. team dr has gone through FORTY NINE seasons already, so it is extremmmmmely easy to run out of ideas LMFAOOO. danganronpa is so successful and so popular however that theyre gonna continue to churn out season after season until it stops making them ridiculous amounts of money. even if the quality has gone down considerably, and even if the teenagers auditioning to be on the show arent even super interested in making a good story as much as they just want to be a part of their favorite series. the ending for season 49 was regarded as extremely boring across the board, so team dr wanted to REALLY spice things up with the golden anniversary of danganronpa. advertising was INSANE. it was the only thing ANY social media website could talk about for MONTHS.
yoshito is the protagonist of the 50th danganronpa season! in the au he lives in its extremely hard to create an original protagonist for danganronpa just because its all been done before, and nobody on team dr is gonna be able to create a guy who is brand new and unheard of. so they made yoshito. team dr knows that the audience is extremely receptive to "hope guys" (characters who follow an extremely watered down ideology of hope until its basically lost all meaning from when makoto naegi had first defined it in the series) so they made yoshito optimistic, recklessly selfless, and extremely trusting. the audience liked him enough throughout the series, mostly because he didnt really do anything that would upset them. and that was on purpose!! team dr knows what their audience will like and dislike, so they create characters based off of tropes and easily definable traits that they can market.
the characters leave the killing game simulator (with a fucking bang, might i add, considering the majority of them get executed in chapter five due to team dr wanting a "grand ending" to the 50th season) and learn they aren't real people. which is So Awesome. but they are now one of the most popular seasons worldwide, mostly due to the hype surrounding their season and the overwhelmingly divided reception for its ending that caused a LOT of uproar, whether that be good or bad. so not only do these characters have to dissect their own realities, picking apart every trope that not only makes them who they are but also has been meticulously crafted so that they remind the audience of who they aren't and could be, but they have to keep playing pretend basically. they have to stand in front of a camera and say "ohohoho it was so much fun!! it was a once in a life time experience!! it was as entertaining for us as it was for you all!! all of you should audition for danganronpa!!"
yoshito is hit particularly hard by this postgame considering he is the standard protagonist of it all lmfao. ryobe as well but because he was an antagonist created to deliberately make peoples lives worse. naomi barely has time to even DISSECT how unreal her reality is because she is truly getting eaten alive by guilt over wherever shes at lmfao
THANK YOU FOR THE QUESTIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SERIOUSLY <3

About Akechi in post-game social media AU!
I first have to say, I don't really know a lot about how the fandom sees Akechi, and as far as I know half wants him 6ft under and the other will give their life's for him, but I don't really know how they represent him besides comics and fanart, I don't really know about how he is in fanfiction, just in case my view of him doesn't match with the "normal" one.
That said, let's go to the point.
Akechi post-game
After he was again in the real world, he was confused to say at least, he wasn't even sure how the hell he was alive, and he wasn't sure either if it was good or bad, it all became worst when he realized he didn't knew where he was, and that he was surrended by strangers faces.
He had the vague memory of being in mental health before, but he was quite sure this wasn't the place he was meant to be, or maybe he was in some kind of hell, that'll could make sense.
Then he heard a door opening, and a lot of light entered the room alongside a silhouette he couldn't see until the door closed again, it was a tall, long redhaired woman, with a serious face, she was holding some papers that she had the view in, Goro didn't knew why, but she gave of a really menacing aura, it was different from Shido's one though. He was already planning of how to escape until the woman started talking. - Goro Akechi, am I rigth?
Goro slowly nod, without wanting to say anything. - 18 years old, Masayoshi Shido unrecognised son, never formally adopted after mothers disease -She said, reading the paper she hold, as Goro was shocked to hear the information, it was meant to be classified- The one behind the mental shutdowns... Am I right again?
Goro stud quiet, if she was saying that, was he, then, in a prison or something? - That look gives me the answer.
-...What do you want? -He finally said, he wasn't sure if he could take down all the guards in the room. - I'll be short in what I want...
The woman take some steps towards him and then took out of somewhere in her clothes a gun. Goro immediately took a step back, but then smiled unconsciously, it was his fate coming for him anyways, right...? He closed his eyes, waiting for the inevitable end, but nothing happened. - What...?
He look up again at the woman, who now pointed the gun towards herself and shoot. Goro stud shocked at her, but trying to not look like so, as behind her appeared something vaguely familiar... A persona, at least it was like one.
-For that look in your face, I bet you know what this is, don't you? - She asked, walking back at the door. - Follow me.
And then Goro, still surprised and yet not trusting her at all, followed her, because he had no other option.
Now the headcanons
Goro takes a similar medicine to what Chidori used, to be able to control Loki
Goro works for the Kirijo group, under the same as Akihiko and the rest, Mitsuru decided to not let him do too many missions until he's totally trained to control his personas
Goro is usually put in a team with Ken, because they're the same age, Goro has the strange feeling of have met him before, but he can't remember from where, even so, he started to slowly trust him
Aigis tends to keep asking him a bit awkward questions, but they get along as they have the same training for the change personas ability, he's still annoyed about her asking every single day why he wears an unmatched glove
When the shutdowns case started, the Kirijo group already had some suspicious, so Mitsuru asked for it to be investigated, when they did discover it was persona related, Mitsuru had certain blue haired girl to keep an eye on Goro
Goro was actually quite excited to met Naoto, he tried to act like he wasn't, tried to use his old acting skills, but it was impossible to fool her
Goro has never revealed too much information about the phantom thieves but the Kirijo group knows enough, and he was put in charge of checking on them, he wasn't at the begginig, but as he kept doing it, Mitsuru ended putting him in charge
Goro get to meet Lavenza again in the velvet room, as Igor give him this time access, he asked her to not tell a thing to Akira
Goro said he's not ready to met them again, and that he'll be ready when he's actually become someone better
||||
I kept this for a while, but I finally finished it!

Tumblr media
can 聽they 聽use 聽chopsticks 聽- 聽Absolutely not. Staci will actually take chopsticks and stab them into whatever he is trying to eat. He makes skewers out of the pieces of sushi and eating noodles turns into him wildly stabbing noodles.
what 聽do 聽they 聽do 聽when 聽they 聽can鈥檛 聽sleep -聽 When Staci can鈥檛 sleep, usually he鈥檒l grab his phone, put in his earbuds, and listen to music until he鈥檚 able to fall asleep again. If that doesn鈥檛 work, he鈥檒l try and read for a little bit. And in the off chance none of that works, Staci will just sit there and not sleep.
what 聽would 聽they 聽impulse 聽buy 聽at 聽the 聽grocery 聽store 聽-聽 Chocolate chip ice cream and popcorn. Staci loves buying a sweet and salty mix.
what 聽order 聽do 聽they 聽wash 聽things 聽in 聽the 聽shower -聽 Staci washes from the top to the bottom, so he goes hair, face, arms, chest, butt, groin, and legs .
what鈥檚 聽their 聽coffee 聽order - Like I said, Staci is a fan of sweets, so Staci really likes Vanilla Bean Creme Frappuccinos
what 聽sort 聽of 聽apps 聽would 聽they 聽have 聽on 聽their 聽smartphone 聽- 聽He has stuff like Instagram, Snapchat, Pandora, Spotify, Tumblr, and Pokemon GO. In a Postgame AU, Staci stays off all social media and he has way more of those calming apps on his phone.
how 聽do 聽they 聽act 聽around 聽children 聽- 聽It depends on when he鈥檚 meeting them. Before the events of the game, Staci is very rambunctious and he鈥檚 great around kids. He keeps them all entertained. Post-Game, he鈥檚 very quiet and kids startle him, but he鈥檚 still nice and gentle towards them. He won鈥檛 be an asshole.
what 聽would 聽they 聽watch 聽on 聽tv 聽when 聽they鈥檙e 聽bored 聽and 聽nothing 聽they 聽really 聽like 聽is 聽on 聽- ANIMAL PLANET. HE鈥橲 READY FOR THINGS ABOUT PUPPIES, KITTIES, AND OTHER CUTE ANIMALS. He might turn the channel to a cartoon channel because lets face it, Staci Pratt watches cartoon to calm down.

Post-Game social media AU shuake headcanons!
Akechi follows all of the phantom thieves in their social media, "they're a threat to society and someone needs to check on them" was what he said, but he only has notifications on for Akira, and Akira is the only one he follows in every social media account he has.
"I heard someone said delicious pancakes" became a meme in their community because Akira says it often, it started in a sweets review with Ann and it never stopped. Now, every time he mentions a sweet fans reply with it, he goes with it and posts photos of pancakes he had for breakfast often.
Akechi himself, in his undercover account replied with it once, but obviously Akira didn't knew it was him.
In one of his card reading streams, the chat convinced Akira to read for himself the cards, he ended the stream without explaining what it said as a joke, but in reality it was because the reading make him remember Akechi.
Now a little short I thought of.
Akira was sitting in LeBlanc, drinking his morning coffee, watching how Futaba tried to take a picture or Morgana, when he heard the sound of a notification in his phone, he thought that it will be the fans saying the same as always, but he got really confused about most of their repplys. "OMG SEE WHO ANSWERED"
"DIDN'T KNEW THEY KNEW EACH OTHER"
"HE'S BACK, WHAT"
Akira then pay more attention to what he was doing, and decided to go to his original post to check what it was. And then just by the glance of the answer the stud cold, unable to say something.
"@GoroAkechi0fficial: I heard someone said delicious pancakes"
It was him, but he wasn't able to belive such thing, but it couldn't be other, rigth? The blue mark at the side of the name confirmed it really was, it had to be but still he felt like it couldn't, like he was dreaming. And, as he still couldn't process what just happened, he heard the door of LeBlanc opening.
And a familiar face, the face he had wanted to see again the most, just appeared in front of him, stealing from his mouth any word he could've had.

Post-game social media AU!
So, in base it's what it sounds like, all the phantom thieves becoming some kind of influencer post-game.
Akira Kurusu
Akira was well known from before, because he "predicted" stuff about the phantom thieves and some other related things.
After everything that happened, he started to make videos about whatever he wanted and he got a lot of attention because of his charisma and skill at any kind of stuff (someone max out his skills) and he even plays videogames and stuff on streams, there even are some rare occasions when he reads the cards for the chat in stream.
Yusuke Kitagawa
He already used to do some online stuff about art, he started art streams because of Akira, and also thanks to him Yusuke become more recognized.
Ryuji Sakamoto & Sumire Yoshizawa
They became close friends post-game because Akira convinced them to try and train together. Akira also convinced them to try the social media thing.
They own one channel of diet-exercise stuff, and they have their own ones, but mostly post in the one they share. If they play videogames, Akira is almost always there.
Ann Takamaki
She, as everyone, was get into by Akira, but she already had the idea in mind, he only encouraged her.
She's the beauty-fashion type. She also makes reviews of sweets and always brings a friend with her for it.
If the sweet is not chocolate related, Morgana is going to be there. Shiho also joins her sometimes.
Makoto Nijima
She mostly has an educational channel, about laws and self defense. If she gets time she plays detective-like videogames.
Haru Okumura
Haru has a garden related and cooking channel, sometimes she does self-defense videos along with Makoto.
Sometimes, she makes a weapons related video, those are usually erased by the platforms.
Morgana.
He doesn't exactly have social media, besides a Twitter account that Akira manages, but the fans love his cat behavior and Morgana tends to do some chaos in every content he's in, except for Ann ones.
Futaba Sakura
From before, she made videos about glitches in videogames, mods and some anime stuff, but she used a voice changer.
She face/voice revealed one time Akira was visiting, since then her content only became more chaotic, even tho she kept the same kind of content.
Goro Akechi
Akechi has not used any of his official media accounts since he disappeared. But he has "undercover" ones that he uses to check on the phantom thieves.
