Postal Services Market Insights, Trends, and Challenges
Market Overview
The global postal services market is experiencing steady growth, with projections indicating a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) exceeding 1% during the forecast period from (2025 to 2030). This growth is largely fueled by the surge in e-commerce and the increasing demand for efficient parcel delivery services.
Regional Insights
North America: Commanding approximately 35% of the global market share in 2024, North America remains a dominant force in the postal sector. The United States Postal Service (USPS) plays a pivotal role, delivering to over 160 million addresses nationwide. The region's focus on automation, digital transformation, and last-mile delivery optimization has been instrumental in maintaining its market position.
Europe: The European postal services market has grown by approximately 16% between 2019 and 2024. This growth is attributed to significant digital transformation initiatives and the modernization of postal infrastructure. European operators are emphasizing sustainability, cross-border collaboration, and the integration of advanced technologies to enhance operational efficiency.
Asia-Pacific: Projected to grow at an annual rate of around 7% from 2024 to 2029, the Asia-Pacific region presents substantial opportunities. The expansion is driven by digital adoption, e-commerce integration, and innovative last-mile delivery solutions, particularly in urban centers.
Key Trends Shaping the Industry
E-commerce Integration: The exponential rise of online shopping has necessitated that postal operators enhance their parcel delivery capabilities, invest in tracking technologies, and offer flexible delivery options to meet consumer expectations.
Digital Transformation: Automation and digital solutions are being adopted to streamline operations, reduce costs, and improve customer experiences. Investments in automated sorting systems and AI-driven logistics are becoming commonplace.
Sustainability Initiatives: Environmental concerns are prompting postal services to adopt eco-friendly practices, such as deploying electric delivery vehicles and implementing green packaging solutions.
Regulatory Reforms: Governments worldwide are introducing new regulations to support infrastructure development and service expansion. For instance, Singapore's amendments to the Postal Services Act aim to facilitate the deployment of a nationwide parcel locker network.
Challenges Facing the Industry
Declining Traditional Mail Volumes: The shift towards digital communication has led to a decrease in traditional mail, compelling postal operators to diversify their service offerings.
Intense Competition: The emergence of private courier and logistics companies has intensified competition, pushing traditional postal services to innovate continually.
Infrastructure Modernization: Upgrading existing infrastructure to handle increased parcel volumes and integrate advanced technologies requires significant investment.
Conclusion
The global postal services industry is at a pivotal juncture, balancing the decline of traditional mail with the burgeoning demands of e-commerce and digital communication. Operators that successfully embrace technological advancements, prioritize sustainability, and adapt to evolving consumer needs are well-positioned to thrive in this dynamic landscape.

The stock market has crashed, the tariff will make everything expensive, and Trump will sign to expand logging
The market and the tariff have already been spoken of, awful decisions; last time we had such high tariff was right before the great depression. I rest my case,
Also, to try and keep up with the demand for timber and other goods that come from nature, the administration will sign an executive order to expand logging across 280 million acres of national forests and public lands. Do you like nature? sorry, now we are going to destroy a lot of it because the imported ones are too expensive.
Elon wants both Amtrak and the U.S postal service to be private instead of government run.
And Al Green will be censured for disrupting President Trump's address to Congress.
Also, the administration said this morning that they were going to start dismantling the Department of Education, and immediately backpaddle.

Saab Elbil Prototype, 1976. An electric van that started life as a project by ElectroMotion of Lexington, Massachusetts. The fuel crisis of 1973 had inspired interest in alternative fuel vehicles and ElectroMotion set out to create an electric delivery van for the U.S. Postal Service. They formed a collaboration with Saab US whose headquarters were nearby ElectroMotion's. Alas the US company went bankrupt without selling a single vehicle so Saab took over the project. They saw potential for the vehicle in the US but also in their home market in Sweden. The Saab version used many components from the Saab 99 and was even referred to the Saab 99 Electric Van however as the fuel crisis eased interest waned and the project never developed beyond a single prototype. It now resides in the Saab Car Museum in Trollhättan (Sweden).

• Jake McNiece
James Elbert "Jake" McNiece was a US Army paratrooper in World War II. Private McNiece was a member of the Filthy Thirteen, an elite demolition unit. McNiece practiced in several operations throughout world war 2 with the 101st Airborne Division.
James McNiece was born on May 24th, 1919, in Maysville, Oklahoma, the ninth of ten children born to Eli Hugh and Rebecca McNiece, and of Irish American and Choctaw descent. During the Depression, the family moved to Ponca City, Oklahoma in 1931. In 1939, he graduated from Ponca City High School and went to work in road construction, and then at the Pine Bluff Arsenal, where he gained experience in the use of explosives. McNiece enlisted for military service on September 1st, 1942. He was assigned to the demolition saboteur section of what was then the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment. This section became the Filthy Thirteen, first led by Lieutenant Charles Mellen, who was killed in action on June 6th, 1944, during the Invasion of Normandy. Following Mellen's death, Private McNiece became acting leader of the unit. McNiece is iconically recognized by wearing Native American–style "mohawk" and applying war paint to himself and other members of his unit which, excited the public's interest in this unit. The inspiration for this came from McNiece, who was part Choctaw.
McNiece's deliberate disobedience and disrespect during training prevented him from being promoted past Private when most Paratroopers were promoted to Private First Class after 30 days. McNiece would act as section sergeant and first sergeant through various missions. His first sergeant and company commanders knew he was the man the regiment could count on during combat. McNiece went on to make a total of four wartime combat jumps, the first as part of the Invasion of Normandy in 1944. In the same year he jumped as part of Operation Market Garden in the Netherlands. McNiece would see action again at the Siege of Bastogne, part of the larger Battle of the Bulge. During fighting in the Netherlands, he acted as demolition platoon sergeant. He volunteered for pathfinder training, anticipating he would sit out the rest of the war training in England, but his pathfinder stick was called upon to jump into Bastogne to guide in resupply drops. McNiece received a Bronze Star, Purple Heart, and French Legion of Honor medals for his service and deeds during the war.
His last jump was in 1945, near Prüm in Germany. In recognition of his natural leadership abilities, he ended the war as the acting first sergeant for Headquarters Company, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment. McNiece would be kicked out of the military in February 1946 after fighting with MP’s. In 1949, McNiece returned to live in Ponca City. He began a 28-year career with the United States Postal Service. His first wife Rosita died in 1952 and, a year later, he married Martha Beam Wonders. They had two sons and a daughter and remained married until his death at age 93.

After seeing your weatherbugapp reblog i installed duckduckgo and tried it.
Tumblr media
I don't know much about technology tbh but i downloaded this app less than 30 mins ago and in that time google tried to track me 112 times?? And they tried to collect finger prints? And my first and last name? And my gender? And my country, state and city? My gps coordinates? My postal code? My network carrier? My fricking battery level for whatever reason? Can you please tell me if this is normal at all, because i'm freaking out right now. I just turned 18 and started using mobile banking and stuff and this shit scares me
Why tf does it need to know my screen density???my system volume????my charging status????? What tf are they cooking
Tumblr media
Now it's at 476 tracking attempts bro???? barely 5 mins passed.....
I condensed your three asks into one for readability!
And yeah, I'm very far from an expert about any of this, but as far as I know that's just. Normal. That's the normal amount of spying they're doing on your phone. I assume the numbers we see are to some extent because having been foiled, a lot of these scripts try repeatedly, since I can't imagine what use thousands of trackers per phone would be even to the great aggregators.
Tracking the phone stuff like screen resolution and battery level is because (apart from that definitely not being considered remotely 'private' so it's Free Real Estate) in aggregate that data can be used to track what phone use patterns are like on a demographic scale and therefore. Where the smart money is.
Almost all of this is getting sold in bulk for ad targeting and market analysis. This does presumably make it very hard to notice when like. Actually important stuff is being spied on, which is why I feel better about Having Apps with the duckduckgo app blocker thing.
My bank's app reportedly sells data to a couple aggregators including Google. Not like, my banking info, but it's still so offensive on principle that I avoid using the app unless I have to, and force stop it afterward.
The patterns that show up on the weekly duckduckgo blocker report are interesting. Hoopla attempts about two orders of magnitude more tracking than Libby, which makes sense because they're a commercial streaming service libraries pay by the unit for access, while Libby is a content management software run by a corporation that values its certification as a 'B' company--that is, one invested in the public good that can be trusted. The cleanness of their brand is a great deal of its value, so they have to care about their image and be a little more scrupulous.
Which doesn't mean not being a little bit spyware, because everything is spyware now. Something else I've noticed is that in terms of free game apps, the polished professional stuff is now much more invasive than the random kinda janky thing someone just threw together.
Back in the day you tended to expect the opposite, because spyware was a marginal shifty profit-margin with too narrow a revenue stream to be worth more to an established brand than their reputation, but now that everyone does it there's not a lot of reputation cost and refraining would be sacrificing a potential revenue stream, which is Irresponsible Conduct for a corporation.
While meanwhile 'developing a free game app to put on the game store' is something a person can do for free with the hardware they already have for home use, as a hobby or practice or to put on their coding resume. So while such apps absolutely can be malicious and more dangerous when they are than The Big Brand, they can also be neutral in a way commercial stuff no longer is. Wild world.
But yeah for the most part as far as I can make out, these are just The Commercial Panopticon, operating as intended. It's gross but it probably doesn't indicate anything dangerous on an individual level.

Mailbox Revolution: Trends Redefining the Landscape of Postal Services Market
The postal services market has embarked on a transformative journey, navigating through trends and challenges that reshape its very essence. As we delve into the dynamic landscape of postal services, we uncover the profound impact of COVID-19, the surge in e-commerce, and innovative approaches like postal drone routes.
Introduction
The postal services market, a cornerstone of communication and commerce, is undergoing a metamorphosis driven by global events and technological advancements. In this exploration, we unravel the trends shaping this evolutionary journey.
Tumblr media
The COVID-19 Shift: From Mail to Parcels
The outbreak of COVID-19 acted as a catalyst, altering the perception of postal services. With lockdowns in place, the focus shifted from traditional mail to the essential service of parcel delivery. The International Post Corporation reported a significant rise in parcel revenue, compensating for the decline in mail revenue in 2020.
Disruptions from Digital Industries
Over recent years, the postal service industry faced disruptions from the internet and digital sectors. The core mail delivery business witnessed a decline as communication modes shifted online. Simultaneously, fierce competition in the e-commerce parcel market prompted postal and mailing businesses to transform into commercially driven entities.
The Rise of E-commerce: A Boon for Postal Services
E-commerce has emerged as a game-changer for postal services. The convenience of online shopping has led to a surge in parcel deliveries, positioning postal services as crucial partners for e-commerce providers. Traditional national networks and expertise in last-mile delivery make postal services effective channels for the delivery and collection of purchased items.
Key Players in the Global Postal Services Market
The landscape is adorned with prominent players such as the US Postal Service (USPS), Deutsche Post DHL (Germany), La Poste (France), and Japan Post. Their roles in the industry underscore the global nature of postal services and the competitive dynamics they navigate.
Tumblr media
E-commerce Opportunities for Postal Services
While e-commerce opens new avenues, some postal services organizations struggle to seize this growth. The global rate of B2C eCommerce growth stands at 17%, contrasting with the less than 5% growth in parcel volumes among certain postal services. Low adoption of digital technologies hampers their ability to harness the full potential of e-commerce.
Postal Services and the Digital Divide
Innovation flourishes where digital adoption is high. Kenya's postal services, through innovations like mPost, have turned every mobile phone into a formal postal address, revolutionizing accessibility to letters and parcels. Bridging the digital divide is essential for postal services to stay relevant in a tech-driven era.
Challenges and Innovations in the Postal Industry
Amidst the positive transformations, challenges loom. Workforce shortages and other impediments threaten future growth. However, innovations like drone deliveries and digitalization offer solutions to overcome these hurdles, ensuring a resilient postal industry.
The Future Outlook: Technology and Collaboration
Looking ahead, the postal services market anticipates positive impacts from data analytics, technological advancements, and the adoption of automated and electric vehicles. Collaboration between industry players and embracing innovative technologies will play a pivotal role in shaping the future.
Conclusion
In conclusion, the evolution of the postal services market is a multifaceted journey, embracing change spurred by global events and technological advancements. The mailbox, once a symbol of tradition, now stands at the intersection of innovation and necessity, navigating towards a future where parcels, drones, and digitalization redefine its purpose.

If you wouldn't mind, I'd appreciate a letter from Illario to Lucanis that is basically him wondering how the hell his awkward cousin managed to attract a hottie like Rook De Riva. (Bonus points for it being my Rook, Adava. I've posted a couple screenshot archives of her.) Thank you very much! This is such a wonderful and fun thing you're doing for the community!
Ding Dong. Another special delivery from the Antivan Postal Service.
We all know Illario is a yapper... this may be the reason why this letter is so crazy long. It's a bit more than just the one requested topic, I hope you don't mind, but I felt, that even Illario would not just kick down the door and starts asking awkward questions about his cousin's love-life. I honestly can't figure, how Lucanis would even answer this letter... Anyway, enjoy!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Transcript:
Cousin, I hope you don’t mind me, bothering you. I know the new First Talon is still saving the world and has probably not the time and even less patience to read from a despicable criminal anyway. Even (or rather because) said criminal is your blood and the closest thing to family you’ll ever have. Beside of course our dear Caterina, who naturally sends her regards (because this way she’s excused to write a letter to you herself. Which of course she would never confirm, and I would NEVER even think. Huh, who wrote that?)
I spend my time doing paperwork for the Diamond recently, since Viago could not be bothered to supervise me all day and night (which I don’t take offensive, I would not want to be my watchdog, either.) Of course no one gives me a contract anymore, maybe there are some with my name on it, but I fear, you’ll find that name in an unfamiliar spot there. No wonder, Viago is paranoid, that something might get out of hand. Which would make him fail his first ever contract from the new First Talon by losing his ward (that would be me).
Not that I wish for this to happen, but then, what is life without the roofs of Treviso in the moonlight, its markets and cafés. The canals and gondolas and the beautiful people in the streets. While I am stuck in the belly of the Diamond. Copying inventory lists.
Anyway, how’s your days? And I mean the parts we don’t get to read in the gazettes or war reports. Allow me to live a little through your new life. I want to know about hat Lighthouse you’re residing in. Living in the Fade is such a weird concept on its own – but being there stuck with a bunch of non-Antivans who are each so different and unique, but you’re still all on the same contract - that sounds like an interesting experience. And they are all so stunningly beautiful and exciting personalities.
Speaking of exciting: Send my kindest regards to that divine but harsh Tevinter detective if you don’t mind, my brother. I’d be very intrigued to get to know other Tevinter people. For a wider perspective, maybe if you want to call it that?
And no, I’m not trying to make a joke here. Or try to push a shady agenda. I just feel that my choices of people from the Imperium was not the… most educated one.
You know what? Never mind, you shouldn’t have to bother with such silly requests and why I feel to ask them from you.
Better we hold onto our words about the things past until we can exchange them in person.
But, you are aware that I simply could have made up a story to make you introduce me to her, right? Or, even better, I just could have written to your Tevinter friend right away, instead of asking you to give my regards…
Speaking of friends. Must be all new and awkward for you, cousin. I can’t remember you having any close acquaintances ever, at all, when we grew up. I would never have thought, you’d have that in you.
Of course now, this all new YOU will not have any more use for your poor cousin - who’s fallen from grace, to do all the nasty ice breaking and socializing for you. And we were such a successful double like that.
Remember that wigmaker job? Vyranthium, I guess. It got you your, moniker, right? Demon of Vyranthium. Just like a creepy foreshadowing, don’t you think? Anyway, what was I talking about? Ah!
You did all the bloody work back then, I happily give you that, but without me? Way more complicated it would have been, I dare say. And even more dangerous as it was already.
Cousin, just think about it. We could rule Antiva together. Or just retire and be the rulers of our own court, whereever that may be - and do what ever we please.
Or did you eventually make peace with being the one in charge? First Talon! So much responsibility. And so large boots to fill.
May Caterina continue to live and rule on for many many more years to come. So you don’t have to step up entirely. Letting her continue to draw strings in the shadows, while you being the representative and handsome young face of the Antivan Crows. That was a clever move from the old girl. Or was it yours? Either way. She could have all that with less drama and an even prettier face, far more willing, to put up with her and her attics. But, well, here we are.
Sorry, I fell back into ramblings about things again, that should be topic for us talking in person. Forgive me. How did I get there in the first place… I have no idea. Maybe this gives you a hint, of just HOW boring the paperwork is, I get to do here. I start yapping. In a letter.
Before I end this pointless lament, cousin, brother! I want to congratulate you. Honestly. Of course, only if it's true, what’s going round within the Diamond and probably the salons of Treviso’s nobility, too. That the new First Talon, known to be the chastest of all Crows, finally decided to seriously court someone. And not only that. It’s even reciprocated this time, as we hear.
A strategic bond with the House of the 5th Talon? I hear that not few people are taking it this way.
But I know you better, cousin. You’d never engage into such an endeavor, when it’s not playing out like in your silly romance novels. (Yes, of course I know what you always hid between your textbooks and under the mattress. Kitsch!) But well, to each their own, I guess. You the books and me the real experience. But you seem to finally getting there, as it seems. Tell me everything, brother! I’ve witnessed you yapping about coffee and kisses goodbye and smarmy stuff like that. You were really into that de Riva girl, right from the start. There goes my last hope, that Adava had, or would ever discover, a soft spot for me behind her wall of professionalism and all business. Just joking, of course, I’m happy for you both. I mean it.
Just don’t let your heart and your… midsection get into the way of a contract. Which in your case would very much unfortunate for all of Thedas. But who am I to give you advice of matters of the heart… (or the midsection) My latest choices weren’t the smartest, either.
Before I end up filling a journal here, I’ll end now. If you want, write me back, I really want to hear about your life and could use any distraction. We’re family, after all. - Illario

ETA: "But it makes sense when you realize his goal is to create something like Russia where the economy is run by a few oligarchs loyal to him," Chakrabarti added. "Creating that state is hard in a large, dynamic, powerful economy with too many actors who can oppose him. So he's accelerating concentrating money and power into the hands of his loyalists while he crashes the rest out."
Responding to this, Ball asserted that "at this point, until proven otherwise, the primary actor in the government and the economy is actually Elon, so I think it makes sense to think of Elon's incentives here and what he may actually want to accomplish."
"If you think back at the last economic crashes—both in Covid and in the 2008 financial crash—while initially everyone suffered, including the rich, out of both, the rich were able to buy up assets on the cheap and emerged even wealthier and more powerful than before," she noted.
"So in 2008, not only did they get their own custom bailout, but they were able to buy housing stock at absurdly low prices," Ball recalled. "The rich got richer than ever, inequality skyrocketed, and the big banks got bigger than ever."
"Same deal with the Covid-era recession," she continued. "So, while again, everyone suffered initially, there was a huge bailout package which, yes, did benefit ordinary people, but if you look at who came out really on top... you could see people like Elon Musk, people like Jeff Bezos, people like Mark Zuckerberg getting far wealthier. Their net worths, which were already very high, skyrocketed beyond anyone's wildest dreams."
“To understand the federal government, it is like a corporate takeover at scale, but one where the company is actually in much worse shape than any commercial company could ever be,” Musk said at the conference, reported CNN’s Hadas Gold.
Musk then went on to say that “logically we should prioritize anything that can reasonably be privatized,” including public services such as the postal service and Amtrak.
Last month, officials with the United States Postal Service flagged that the Trump administration was looking to dissolve the organization’s governing board and place it under the control of the Commerce Department and Secretary Howard Lutnick. Experts believe doing so would likely violate federal law.
-------
It's vulture capitalism of an entire country. I don't know why I'm surprised. It's the same thing big oil is doing to the entire planet. And none of them care how many people they kill.
Do the republicans in congress realize when the stock market crashes like it's 1929 they'll lose their money too?

In case workers need any additional arguments for why labor unions are good for them, a powerful new argument comes from none other than Elon Musk. Last month at the New York Times DealBook Summit, a gathering of lords of finance and industry, Musk said: “I disagree with the idea of unions … I just don’t like anything which creates a lords and peasants sort of thing.” That the world’s richest human dissed the idea of unions should certainly be seen as a selling point for unionizing. Musk’s statement shows that he realizes that unions can be highly effective in harnessing the collective voice and power of workers, not just to limit the autonomy of power-hungry CEOs like him in managing their companies, but also to counter the capricious and often officious way he runs things. Musk is allergic to the idea of letting workers and their union have a voice in how to run – and improve – things. [...] In all these episodes, Musk acted like a lord and treated his workers as peasants. So, no, Elon, it’s not the union that “creates a lords and peasants sort of thing”. When you and other corporate executives treat workers like disposable pawns, that’s what creates a lords and peasants thing. [color emphasis added]
Certainly, unions help PREVENT the "lords and peasants sort of thing." But what I believe Musk meant by that comment is that he doesn't like it that unions help workers to understand that their CEOs are acting like "lords" and treating them like "peasants." He doesn't want unions to help educate workers about how they are being exploited.
The article goes on to list the many ways that Musk mistreats and exploits the workers in his various companies. It also describes how Musk is capriciously choosing to ignore labor laws in Sweden, and how Sweden's labor movement and their allies in Denmark and Norway are fighting back.
At the moment, Musk is at war with Sweden’s labor movement because for more than five years he has refused to begin contract talks with the union that represents the mechanics who service Tesla cars in Sweden. Their union has gone on strike, and Sweden’s dockworkers, electricians and postal workers have joined a secondary action against Tesla to support them. By refusing to bargain, Musk has shown contempt for Sweden’s economic system, in which more than 90% of workers are covered by collective bargaining agreements negotiated between companies and unions. Irked by Musk’s contempt for unions, dockworkers in Denmark and Norway have joined Sweden’s dockworkers in refusing to unload Tesla cars. [...] Susanna Gideonsson, president of the Swedish Trade Union Confederation, said: “What grinds our gears is that a large corporation thinks it can come here and set the rules on the Swedish labor market. To think you can waltz in here as a feudal lord and think a whole country should adapt to one’s whims is just wrong.” [color emphasis added]
In appreciation for the union workers fighting "Lord Musk" in Sweden, Denmark and Norway:

I've read through your posts and deliberated some more, yet I still don't see the connection of a critique on capitalism. I see the critique of work, yes, but mostly because it reflects Denji's self value. I don't think it's the same.
Let's dive into capitalism...
Tumblr media
You're not the first to ask, so I'll answer (I'll try to be succinct). I just want to make it clear that this is all my interpretation, if you still don't see a connection after this post. Then you're just interpreting this point differently, and that's completely ok.
For more context I think it's interesting to point out who I am or rather what I do. I'm a lawyer, still in training but enough to call myself one. I specialize in a rather specific area of law in France: public economic law. Let's put it this way: it's a body of law that analyzes the relationship between the State and individuals, and focuses solely on the general interest.
Let's agree on a definition of capitalism. Capitalism is an economic and social system in which capital (the source of income) and the means of production and exchange do not belong to those who use them through their own labor.
It's important to note that capitalism takes different forms in each state.

In Japan, the origins of capitalism lie in vigorous state intervention. The period that best characterizes it is the Meiji era, the 19th century. Today, this is revealed by the significant intervention of the Ministry of the Economy.
If all this sounds complicated, there is a first element of definition. If I don't just see a critique of the world of work in the public hunter system, it's also because one of Chainsaw Man's themes is the state. I'm not extrapolating, since it's a theme that recurs several times, whether through Makima and her confrontation with the gun demon, or through the choice of security structure: public. That is, controlled by the Japanese government.

I think that, yes, CSM makes a more global criticism than a specific point of society, and speaks of the relationship between citizen and state.
But let's continue. It's not insignificant either that the first images of the CSM season 1 trailer are of a dark alleyway overflowing with rats. Nor is it insignificant to set up a character, very young, and very poor as a main character. This doesn't shock us, as heroes tend to have tragic pasts, but it's not an empty choice.

When we think of neoliberalism, the example of the United States or the United Kingdom are the first that come to mind. Yet Japan is the OECD country that has seen the greatest rise in inequality, due to deregulation of the labor market and the rise in precarious employment (40% of the working population today) with the privatization of key sectors such as rail and postal services.
Privatization movements ? That's been covered.

But another feature of Japan's aggressive neoliberalism is the university. Whose entrance fees are increasing atrociously.
University entrance fees ? Lack of education for the most precarious classes ? That's been covered.

What I'm trying to prove once again is that Fujimoto applies himself to revealing the relationship between individuals and states. Makima, the antagonist, is even subjected to it, inscribed in a hierarchical relationship. She has also become an uncontrollable demon to the point of making the United States swoon, for she is nothing more than a chimera created by the Japanese government, which has hammered her with the doctrine of evil necessary for the greater common good. In other words, collectivism.

The connection between capitalism and Denji's character is often made, but even Makima, the antagonist, was following a goal imposed by a larger structure, from which she didn't really benefit because she wasn't happy.
Nor is Chainsaw Man just about an extremely harsh working world. We're also talking about the extent to which Denji is satisfied with little things (which Fujimoto also sees in a positive light).
But Fujimoto's main point with Denji is not that the problem lies in his dreaming of toast per se (although that's a problem too), but that there's a disproportion between his sacrifices and his rewards.
It's not insignificant that Denji suffers horribly when he turns into Chainsaw Man, that the system seems to work with him because he sees himself only as a tool.
Capitalism is defined above all by the fact that the worker does not reap all the benefits of his work.
Denji literally produces the added value that will serve his structure without perceiving the benefits in the extreme. Since Makima is going to take all the benefits away from him.

Is it fair, then, to speak of a simple critique of labor when we know that the antagonist is the product of the Japanese government? Don't think of the critique of the world of work as a separate, singular critique, but as part of a critique of a more global system: Japan and its current regime, capitalism.
For it is the relationship between the economy and the state's conception of it that affects the world of work. The liberalization movement that began in the 1980s and accelerated in the 2000s and 2010s is a striking example of this. What is the clearest result of the relationship between globalization and Japan than manga ?

If there's one thing that helped me understand Fujimoto's interest in these issues, it's his relationship with his own industry. His works culminate in themes relating to the community and the individual, and their relationship with art and culture. Just think of all those movie scenes.

Fujimoto isn't delivering a critique of capitalism because it's fashionable to do so, he's following a lineage of his own.

Fujimoto isn't delivering a critique of capitalism because it's fashionable, he's following a lineage, also talking about the relationship between capitalism and his art. The mangakas themselves are trapped in a logic of commercialization and commodity production, to the detriment of creativity itself. I feel that Part 2 is a complete response to Chainsaw Man's worldwide success. The way Denji's daily life hasn't changed a bit, and also the parallel with Fujimoto.

An ultra-popular author... but one who turns in a chapter once a week.
