🥰🥰 the aquarium in lisbon (well, oceanarium technically, we have an aquarium too but its smaller and at least in portuguese we distinguish those two) is soooooo pretty but i havent been there since I was a kid and ive been dying to go there again :'( unfortunately, not only is it expensive (it has a 50% sale going until the end of february) but its also not too close so its not something that ive been to as an adult!!! I just wanna see the fishes!

hippotrip is also an amazing idea to explore lisbon. it’s a tourist bus but it’s also a boat who goes into the tejo river (go to their site and check them out)

for places to eat, you can visit pop cereal (i love this restaurant is super cosy and where you can eat any type of cereal you can imagine! it’s mostly for breakfast but it definitely worths to try out) and nicolau lisboa (this for brunch but also super nice!). i don’t know many place inside lisbon to eat because it’s mainly expensive but if you look around you’ll find a great spot with some traditional food. 

in sintra you should check out: (in this day use comfortable shoes like tennis if you really want to explore because you need to walk a bunch)

Loving the Lisbon Lifestyle

Five days in the Portuguese capital is just what I’ve needed after a busy work schedule in June. It wasn’t a particularly arty trip (who wants to be stuck inside a museum when it’s 36 degrees outside?), but we experienced some spectacular architectural and cultural sights that I’d love to share with you today, such as the beautiful Jerónimos Monastery in Belém - above. This sixteenth-century Late Gothic Manueline building is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site, along with the Belém Tower located five minutes down the road on the bank of the Tagus river. Belém is also the home of the most famous pastry shop in Lisbon - Pastéis de Belém - where you can devour crisp custard tarts to your heart’s content.

The oceanarium wasn’t part of our original itinerary, but on a stifling hot Sunday morning, its cool, fresh atmosphere was just perfect. Located in the Parque das Nações, the Lisbon Oceanarium - above - is the largest indoor aquarium in Europe and home to a number of fascinating creatures, including sharks, rays, sea otters, penguins, and even a sunfish. The building’s architect, Peter Chermayeff, designed an industrial-style complex poised within an artificial lagoon to complement the structure’s aquatic interior.

This incredible bookstore is called Ler Devagar and can be found at the LX Factory, a ridiculously cool network of artsy shops and cafes that is well worth an afternoon’s visit. The books in this picture probably amount to about a third of the store’s entire collection, and there are also a number of unique printing machines to be explored at the top of the staircases.

And finally, my highlight of the entire trip: a too-short visit to the magical resort town of Sintra. Beautiful flowers and foliage surround the pastel-coloured houses and quaint market-style streets of this lovely location, and though it is indeed a tourist favourite, Sintra retains a quiet relaxing atmosphere thanks to its inland location. We visited the National Palace - above - with its distinctive white chimneys, but didn’t quite have time to see the Pena Palace from the nineteenth-century on the other side of the hill, famed for its fairytale-like appearance. Ah, there’s always next time!

ok according to wikipedia oceanarium can also be used for marine theme parks like seaworld so i just wanna say, i did not visit the portuguese version of seaworld, the lisbon oceanarium is a just huge aquarium. and it’s beautiful. and in my unserstanding all the animals were either born in captivity or rescued. and they’re treated properly
