Pope Jane now: Reflecting on this photo taken almost two years ago, in March. It was my 50th birthday party and Kristen and her fiancé flew out for, literally, 24 hours. We had a BLAST house party, played some great music, Kristen and Jenova went back to WA state, Holly stayed in Billings where she lives, and we drove back to Bozeman where we were living at the time. I cried almost the whole way back. Because I hadn’t been that carefree with my girls for a long time, and I still miss them like I miss an arm or a leg. We decided we were going to do a new Pope Jane album in 2020–then Covid hit 🥺. So instead, my album is ending up being a solo venture this year...a bittersweet accomplishment. Love you both so much, Kristen Coyner and Holly Shawver. POPE JANE - “Lay Down Your Life”!!! Not bad, for a band that hasn’t played together in ten years. This was an impromptu mini concert at my 50th bday party. No rehearsals, nuthin — just walking up to instruments and grabbing whatever was rolling around in the recesses of our brains from ten years ago.
