I wasn't sure if I'd manage to do wintery pics still in time cause the last weeks I was ill and also busy as hell, so yeah XD But then, as I was playing around with the Christmas tree, knowing that it's scalable, I had the spontaneous urge to see just how big you could make it... and we'd been talking about how utterly decked out NC has got to be in colorful lights and shit around Christmas (because, yay, consumerism!). And since there are virtual cherry blossoms everywhere, there's gotta be virtual snowfall too!

Now, headcanon time!

I think, as someone who grew up in the 90s and poor-ish, like me, Christmas must've been a special and magical time for Kerry, even if it's probably lost its charm as he grew older. I still think though, since I interpret him as someone very nostalgic who tends to linger in the past, he'd definitely be into decorating the house and having at least a small fake tree or something set up. He probably did that with Louise and his kids as well (cause yay, giving presents to make up for the guilty feelings of being a probably otherwise not very present parent - ba-dum-tss), and in the following years it brought back too many bad feelings and memories for him to really look forward to it. But with Vince he'd wanna make new memories, he'd probably be in the holiday spirit again for the first time in a long time... but little does he know that Vince is a little Grinch ("What the fuck is a Grinch?" - ".... movie night, right now!")

Vince's family *never* celebrated Christmas in a big way. His mother thought the decorations tacky and didn't want them in her house. Culture-wise, with his dad's Japanese background, Christmas is more a romantic couple's holiday than the traditional family or even religious thing we have in the west. So he doesn't have strong feelings about Christmas apart from "hm, yeah, the lights are pretty I guess". But I'd also like to think that Kerry does manage to get him in the holiday spirit at least a little bit too xD Cause in the end, it's about spending time with your loved ones and giving a shit about the rest imo XD

3. Scars or painful spots

Ohhh thats a great question since i like these things a lot,,, V has several scars on his body - the one near his right eyebrow, the one on his stomach and that strange scar on his arm (i only have screen there its cropped but u can see glimpse of it). I think the one on the head he got due to his childhood life spent on the streets, it wasn’t unsual for him to get in the fights, so it’s left from these days :D The one on the stomach is from his first gig - V encountered the Tiger Claw with katana blade and by some miracle it left only a small scar on his body. The last one i guess is left by burning cigarette, and Vicky could’ve self-harmed himself, maybe under influence of his street friends who did the same since smoking and weilding scars was considered cool by them (i know how this sounds but oh boi we had such a thing in my school class, tho i never self-harmed). Under the cut u can see all these scars!

What to the painful spots - it’s defo his neck implant. It doesn’t hurt, but V doesn’t like it being touched as it triggers the memories of how some guy tried to choke him. Vicky can endure Kerry touching it, but Ker knows it doesn’t feel comfortable for him, so he tries to not do that (he just loves him a lot and wants him to feel comfortable and ahhh i love em a lot ;A;)

4. Best places to kiss on their body

Paradoxically V likes when his scars are kissed ;) OFC only Ker does that, and it honestly feels fascinating to V, since usually scars are seen as smth ugly and undeserving attention. It’s like Kerry is taking away the pain of these scars and fills his unperfect body with love. V also VERY much likes to be kissed on the lips so go give him a smooch xD

5. Guilty pleasures

V likes from time to time to stike his ass to the couch and watch whatever shit TV has to offer xD Like, he can really just swallow couple of episodes of smth like Watson Whore and will be very much happy lol Also can’t call it a guilty pleasure, but he eats a lot of junk food and likes to drink Bolchevik (he is from the streets and he is poor whaddaya want (also watching lots of tv is probably overcompensating his childhood without it))

10. Fears/phobias

As i mentioned, V has some kind of fear of any form of asphyxiation, and coming with it he is also afraid of loosing his voice (since he can speak only thanx to the neck implant). He is ofc afraid of death and has that obsession with becoming a legend coming from his fear of just staying that unwanted infant from the streets, who’s been rejected even by his parents. He wants to become someone important, prove everybody, that they were wrong, when they messed him with a trash. From all that also comes his fear, that nothing will ever change, that he’ll proceed dying/ being forgotten by everybody and so on. Thats why he often feels despair and high anxiety, and usually can’t stay still for too long. Adding to all what i said, he has yet another fear - that the person who he’s close with will betray him. The thing is, he dated one girl once, but discovered she cheated on him and what’s worse, his now ex-friends knew about her cheating and acted like nothing was happening (this situation was partly a reason to why my V went to Atlanta, to escape all this dirt)

Not going to lie, Caster Gilgamesh’s appearance was why this is second

His interaction with the Gudas made me laugh and shipped in particular for CasGil/Gudao. His interaction is also outright damn hilarious but I do like their frenemy relationship or still one-sided love from Ishtar’s part

Gilgamesh interaction with Kingu and especially about Enkidu is defintiely my most favorite since I fall in love with their friendship. And it broke my heart especially after the passing of Enkidu and him saving Kingu because losing his best friend once is already painful for anyone who has one you considered very close to even more than your family and anyone in the world

Merlin getting his ass kicked by Fou is outright hilarious, and I enjoyed his appearance when he helped the Gudas at the end to defeat Tiamat

Ana and Quetzalcoatl… Fuck my heart really broke for them especially Ana. Once given her identity revealed, it broke me especially facing Gorgon of what she will inevitably become. Quetz on the other hand tries to help Gorgon as being the best Onee-san and it didn’t really work out…

Eresh-chan where I’m really hoping she comes home in my Chaldea this year because her interaction is outright cute to the Gudas and specially despite her role as the antagonist, she loves and cares for humanity more than anyone

Lastly, no one actually bullied Romani this time round out of joke so much. Something that makes me really happy after the non-stop bullying from every fucking Singularity

Overall this singularity I’ll look forward to seeing it on anime soon, and eventually the rest of the singularity

Needless to say, the conclusion for the first Arc will hit in the list

The fact every Servant that the Gudas meet will come to aid them knowing it’ll be death if they fail

Merlin’s confession that he’s Magi*Mari not only shocking but outright funny since it’s the relate example that your 2.5D waifu is probably an old dude behind the screen XD

Fou’s sacrifice to revive Mash… One of the heartbreaking scene at the end

But the one that hits the worst is Romani…. Him being Solomon, Marisbury’s Servant, the Grand Servant known as King of Mages… The man who spent his entire life worrying about the humanity’s end and feels helpless when he becomes human. Yet, he never regrets it because that was what he wants from the start, the one desire he finally is able to be selfish to say what he wants from his heart…

My favorite is definitely how Gudas rebelled at the Lion King, their real answer to King Hassan about the whole situation in Camelot will does show their character development even if it’s reader-insert.

Again, literally any Urobutcher’s work will hit my top list

Waver’s entire role and the finale with Iskandar… Yeah, fucking fate/zero feels all over again

But the Gudas actually coming up with this plan really does show further development in them after bonding all the Servants they had in Chaldea

With Halloween right around the corner, what would all of your lovely boys wear for it, if they would at all? Who hands out the candies and who goes out trick-or-treating? Who plays tricks?

Well, let’s see~

I don’t know how popular Halloween would be in places like Lagaard (they have real monsters to contend with after all XD) but any reason to celebrate and have fun, right? Also it is cute to imagine the kids of the town dressing up as cartoonish characters of the monsters, haha~

I imagine that the Guardians would be invited to all the parties, but most likely chose the one at the bar because they know Cass and the majority of the patrons there, and they are encouraged to dress up a little in costume. I think the pinkettes would insist they do as well. Some of them at least.

Though a few of them wouldn’t head to the party until after they’ve escort Binah, Becky, and Abigail as they go trick or treating in the afternoon. The girls would dress up as their favourite classes - Becky as a troubadour, Binah as a medic, and Abigail as a princess~

Also, the inn is likely to get a few trick or treaters as well, so someone would stay behind there to help Matron with handing out the snacks and candies. Not Macerio, though, as he would likely hog the treat bowl to himself. The girls would eat their treats in front of him, only for them to get stomach aches after eating too much and Macerio finally gets his chance to laugh at their misfortune. He does get his fair share of candy, though. He gets Chi-hung to walk around with a jack-o-lantern shape bucket in his mouth, prompting others to coo over him and give him something.

Lynus would have to be dressed as an angel. Everyone would suggest that. Little fluffy wings on his back and white and violet robes. Oh, and a flower crown. He would look stunning. He also would be quite popular. Someone outside the guild would no doubt suggest sexy nurse outfit, only to get a punch to the face Axel would be picked to be a vampire. No reason other than he would look hot as a vampire, am I right?

Imagine Jhon dressed as a survivalist and Tobyn can’t stand it because he looks hot without all his armour. Tobyn would be told to dress as a ninja because he’s silent and lethal, but he won’t because he doesn’t like to dress up and he’s shy. He does spend the night acting like a possessive protector toward Jhon, though~

Magnus would be insisted that he dress up as a cat type outfit. Furry ears that suit him perfectly and a furry tail (which he clutches in his hands for the entirety of the night). His ears don’t twitch or move, which is rather fortunate for Shen as he would just lose it if they did. Seeing Magnus with cat ears alone is enough to test his fortitude and restraint. Shen would be another grumpy-bum who won’t dress up, though he does wish he did find a mask to wear so that he didn’t have to work so hard on keeping his stoic appearance up around cat-eared Magnus~

Lirit would be dressed similar to that of a story book forest pixie with little butterfly wings on his back while Macerio would dress up similar to that of a werewolf, including furry ears and a tail. The ears would suit him, too, and when he stands with Magnus others can’t help but coo over how cute they are, prompting Lirit to latch onto Macerio in a genuinely possessive way.

Cedric would dress up as a war magus. Or more specifically, a war magus that looks just like Hamza. More specifically still, he wears Hamza’s clothes. Scandalous, probably, but no one is all that surprised. Hamza is too refine and dignified to dress up - which makes Cedric laugh and laugh~

Rahas would want nothing to do with this dressing up nonsense, but he does wear a pair of bat/demon wings on his back to keep Binah and Lynus happy. He also thinks they make him more menacing and emo (they don’t). And Simmons would dress up as a lumberjack. Don’t ask why; it’s an excuse to wield his axe. He does spend the majority of the night tagging behind Rahas and the very real and shiny axe on his back has unwittingly prevented a few drunkards from trying to chat up Rahas.

Shiki would dress up in garbs similar to that of his old dark hunter clothes. Pray for poor Gerald. Though Shiki wanted Gerald to dress up as a dark hunter instead of him but Gerald refused, so Shiki decided to get revenge :D

And Tiffany dresses up as a ghost. A simple white sheet with eye cut-outs because she’s embarrassed by Shiki in leather and Gerald practically drooling over him. Kerri floats around with a rather scary jack-o-lantern on her head, scaring unsuspecting people. I also imagine Kerri is the only one who would do any tricking just to get a stoic kick out of scaring people. She’s really good at it. Tiffany is her favourite victim~

who is more likely to hurt the other? Likely Gil. I think he’d be pretty prone to more anger outbursts than Illya, which terrifies her. And he’s sworn to always keep that anger under control so he doesn’t hurt his queen.

who is emotionally stronger? Illya, given what she had gone through ever since day one. Meeting Ruby, Sapphire, Rin, Luvia, Miyu, and Kuro has helped toughen her up. Though...that’s not to say that she would disregard all that Gil went through, and she tries her best to ease his own pains.

who is physically stronger? Probably Gil. But they’re little children so I wouldn’t know. Adult!Prisma Gil on the other hand got them biceps doe >:3c

who is more likely to break a bone? Probably Gil, but they’re both smart enough not to get themselves in such a situation, I think.

who knows best what to say to upset the other? I feel both would be good at doing this, with Gil knowing how much Illya’s friends mean to her, while Illya knows of how little friends Gil had in the first place. Cue immediate regrets whenever these get brought up.

who is most likely to apologise first after an argument? Gil. Full stop. He just doesn’t wanna lose Illya like he did Enkidu. Cue apologies on Illya’s end as well. Cue the comforting hugs and reassuring “I love you”s.

who treats who’s wounds more often? Probably Illya to Gil, but like I said, both know not to get involved in situations where they could get hurt. ...And let’s not bring in Zwei Form into the equation.

who is in constant need of comfort? Probably Gil again. Poor boy just needs someone to love. But Illya would also qualify because she’s got her own insecurities about stuff like “Am I being a good girlfriend to Gil-kun?”

who gets more jealous? ILLYA. That boy’s Charisma draws all the ladies to him, and Illya’s just like, “GET AWAY FROM MY HUBBY.” Gil knows how to calm her down though. But when it’s Gil’s turn to get jealous.............Boys are gonna run in fear from Illya, lol.

who’s most likely to walk out on the other? Gil would try to do this if only to protect Illya. But no way in hell is she buying that from him, of course.

who will propose? Okay, so both kids confessed to each other at the same time, but Gil’s probably resolved to do the proposal first. Don’t question him on that.

who has the most difficult parents? Well, I’m not sure so much about Ninsun and whoever Gil’s father was...But Irisviel and Kiritsugu should prove pretty difficult themselves. Kerry can get pretty protective of his Illya, and Iri is..........Iri.

who initiates hand-holding when they’re out in public? Either one, really. And it’s really cute to watch. XD ...much to the chagrin of Illya’s non-magical friends.

who comes up for the other all the time? Gil’s got the Gate of Babylon if ever Illya needs anything at any given time. In turn, Illya always offers to help out Gil if he needs it.

who hogs the blankets? Illya. Gil’s cuddling her counts as a “blanket”.

who gets more sad? Both try to be happy.........but Gil sometimes lapses back into his thoughts on how he could’ve prevented Enkidu’s death. It’s just him, really, and Illya knows it’s inevitable that he’d be thinking such things from time to time. So she’s always there for him when this happens.

who is better at cheering the other up? Illya. How can you not smile when she smiles at you? Gil calls it the “warmest smile he’s ever seen in his life”.

who’s the one that playfully slaps the other all the time after they make silly jokes? Illya. With a giant paper fan. She learned it from Kuro. XD

who is more streetwise? Don’t underestimate these two, let’s just say.

who is more wise? Probably Gil. Having memories of his past would certainly make him wise for his apparent age.

who’s the shyest? Illya is, but she’s slowly breaking out of that shell. In fact, she’s the one often initiating conversations with people.

who boasts about the other more? GIL. NATCH. Though Illya’s friends are so tired of seeing him on their Instagram feed, so...Illya herself is pretty guilty of this as well.

who sits on who’s lap? Illya on Gil, and away they go on their umpteenth cuddle session :3c

RWBY V6 CH7 Review: The Grimm Reaper

(Note: This was orignally posted on my backup blog due to a series of events that was due to this blog being flagged and me unable to post until now. This is a repost from said blog.)

We are at the halfway point! Yay! God, it has been one Hell of a first half so far. Unlocked secrets, evil plotting, a wintry forest, and zombie Grimm. It has been a dark, tense, emotionally breaking journey so far and we’re only halfway through. I can only imagine what the rest of the volume is going to be like. But first, we have to get this chapter out of the way. So lets do this!

Overview

We begin in, of all places, the Haven Vault. I wonder if they ever got Vernal’s body out of there… anyways, Cinder has brought Neo there, having apparently explained to her the Maidens, Relics, and of Salem. IDK how much detail she went into, but hey it sounds like the basics were covered. The door to the dimension where the lamp was is now sealed off completely. Heck it’s not even a door anymore, just a giant stone wall. So why has Cinder told Neo all of this? Well Cinder has been forbidden form killing Ruby via Salem, which makes sense since she also forbade Tyrian form killing her back in V4. Why? No clue, but it’s probably bad. But while Cinder can’t kill our hooded heroine, Neo is under no such obligation. So if Neo helps Cinder get to Atlas so that she can reclaim the Relic and redeem herself to her mistress, then Neo can get her revenge for them both and it can be played off as an unfortunate accident. Neo seems to be on board with this plan as the two villainesses shake hands. This is not going to end well…

Speaking of not ending well, we suddenly cut to a foggy area where a woman in a blue cloak is waking along a rope-bridge. It reminds me of V1, CH8 tbh. This woman, clad in blue and wearing a skeleton mask, is the Grimm Reaper. Or, more relevant to us, a younger Maria Calavera. Yes my friends, we are in a flashback now. And it’s one Hell of an impressive one as Maria is faced with a giant Nevermore, leading to a badass fight sequence. We also get to see Maria’s weapons,  pair of sickles powered by Gravity Dust, allowing her to maneuver them at will. They are awesome! Its really hard to talk about a fight scene, but you know how the girls struggled against one Nevermore back in Volume 1? Maria handles it single-handed here, ending it via a blast of her Silver Eyes. It turns the Grimm to stone and it promptly shatters. This indicates that, when controlled, the Silver Eyes can merely petrify a Grimm and not outright obliterate it, which would explain how Ruby froze the Dragon back in V3, but didn’t kill it.

Maria may have killed the birdie, but she soon is faced with other problems. She gets ambushed by a group of bandits, who are led by a cocky Crocodile Faunus woman named Tock. She is based off the crocodile from Peter Pan, and man her design is freakin’ great. She’s a rather confident woman, already knowing who Maria is and bragging that these next sixty seconds will be the Grimm Reaper’s lasts. As she says this, she turns on a clock as her aura glows. It was revealed by one of the animators on Twitter that Tock’s Semblance is, for sixty seconds, she is completely invincible. This is demonstrated as the fight begins, the seconds ticking in the background, as while Maria can handle the other bandits, Tock gives her quite the challenge. Weapons break when they hit her and not even minor damage can be done. It’s pretty much regular aura, but multiplied by 100.

Maria gives it her all, even combining her weapons in a dual-wielding form. But Tock is able to bite it in half and knock the Grimm Reaper’s mask off. This leaves Maria’s Silver Eyes wide open, and Tock promptly slashes them. Maria is left blinded and outright screaming in pin as Tock’s Aura breaks, a consequence of using her Semblance. She mockingly offers Maria mercy since the whole reason that her ‘master’ wanted her dead was due to her eyes. I am going to assume that the 'master’ is Salem. Maria tosses one of her sickles at Tock and as the Faunus prepares for the killing blow, Maria uses the Gravity  Dust to force the one weapon into Tock’s back. This causes Tock to meet her final fate as she is pulled towards Maria, who proceeds to behead her as the flashback comes to an end.

In present day, the group is surprised by this new information. Qrow is especially stunned, having admired the Grimm Reaper and he even based his weapon off of hers. Everyone assumed that she had died at some point despite her being a legend, but she had never given away her name or shown her face. Qrow had aspired to be as good as the Grimm Reaper… to which Maria says that hes well on his way with how much of a disappointment he’s been so far. Ouch But… yeah after last chapter, Qrow had that blow coming. Maria goes on to explain how despite surgery giving hr back her vision, after the attack she chose to go into hiding and look after herself. Since a Huntress’ duty is to protect and serve others, she feels that she is a failure and not someone that another should aspire to be like. She even points out how some are already stronger than she was, looking at Yang as she does so. But the former Huntress feels guilty for hiding away, unable to help make the world a better place for the next generation.

Ruby, however, points out that Maria CAN still help make things better now. How? She can train Ruby to use the Silver Eyes. That way, Ruby can use the power to help in the fight and therefore help others the way that Maria once aspired to. Maria doesn’t give an answer to if she’ll accept this offer, but it does look like she’s considering the younger girl’s words. But that will have to wait another day as Ruby’s Scroll goes off… an to her shock, it’s Vomit Bo.. ugh, I mean Jaune! This can only mean one thing. Yes my friends, after a train crash, a demoralizing revelation, an abandoned farm, and literally losing their wills to live, our heroes have arrived at Argus safe and sound. Once in the city, they are found by JNR, with Nora giving poor Oscar a glomp for good measure. There are hugs all around, the most emotional being between Jaune and Ruby. Jaune is clearly emotional that his friends made it back safely as Ruby assures him that she had promised, and she kept it. It’s such a beautiful moment signifying that, at least, our heroes are safe and together again. After these past few chapters, it is a VERY welcome sight.

Argus itself seems to be based off San Francisco, and it looks gorgeous. The settings are beautiful, the people are actually animated and not a still frame like with Mistral, and it really feels like a major city. It’s explained that Argus, being the man trading port between Mistral and Atlas, had help from Atlas to settle a firm establishment. SO while Atlas DOES maintain a military presence until recently, the city falls under Mistral domain and is one of the largest locations outside the main kingdom. And now that everyone’s together, there is the matter of living arrangements. As it turns out, Jaune already has this covered as we soon see a young blonde haired, blue eyed woman. This is Saphron Cotta-Arc. That’s right folks, this is one of Jaune’s long-awaited sisters. I believe that Ruby’s reaction speaks for all of us XD

When at the house, Saphron explains that she moved out of the Arc household as soon as she could as she teases her baby brother. It leads to some cute, funny banter as Jaune insists that he’s not a baby, but there IS an actual baby. Saphron’s infant son, Adrian, who pouts at his uncle’s implication. Which… OMG Jaune is an uncle… JAUNE IS AN UNCLE!!! Also Adrian is an absolute cutie patootie and I will let Weiss and Yang’s reactions speak for me. But yeah, it turns out that Jaune was inspired by Saphron setting out on her own to do the same, which she has no problems rubbing in his face. It leads to more cute banter before they are interrupted by the arrival of a young woman named Terra. And she is Saphron’s wife. Yes my friends, you read that right. Wife. IDK if they’re both lesbian or one or both is bi or whatever, but yes my friends, we have a married LGBT couple in the show at long last! I’ll go more into this in the review portion, bUT OMG YES! SO MUCH YES!!!

The lovebirds are more than happy with housing the group due to how Huntsmen and Huntresses give so much to protect people like them that they feel that it’s the least that they can do. Terra does question the use of students though, which Qrow does a.. meh job at passing off. But it’s okay, they have sandwiches! During this, Terra has to answer a call as Saphron explains that Terra works as a technician at the main radar tower. But it’s also where the military’s systems are housed, so things are buggy and poor Terra is getting the blame. Welt hat sucks. Int he meantime, the gang pan their next move. They intend to go to the military the next day and discuss getting transport to Atlas. But… well Jaune explains that they already tried… and the episode ends with the military base doors closing right into Team RWBYs faces. And no one was surprised.

Review

Guys… I can’t believe. We actually got a happy episode! Nothing bad, at least outside the flashback, happened whatsoever! The characters were… happy and laughing and cooing at cute babies! MILES AND KERRY HAVE FINALLY GRANTED US MERCY! HALELLUJAH!!!

Okay in all seriousness, this episode was great. We were in desperate need for a breather episode, and Thank God we got one. It feels kinda like Chapter 7 form last volume when RWY and JNR were catching up. But I feel like this one did a much better job since it both had some nice action, buildup for what’s coming next, and the build-up to this felt much more natural. But yeah… God IDK where to start with this one…

As I said, Argus looks absolutely stunning. It is probably the best-designed location in the series so far. And this time it felt alive and animated, unlike with Mistral where it used stills and then we spent mos to four time in a house. We actually got to explore a little bit this time, and it made the city feel all the more like… well, a city, as a result. The San Francisco vibes with the tram car and the theater were also super well done and made the city feel unique compared to previous settings. Major kudos to the art and compositing team here, they nailed it.

This was an excellent follow-up to the Brunswick Farms storyline. We get to see what Cinder is up to and set up for her and Neo’s next move. Enough to remind us that something is coming our heroes way, but it doesn’t drag or feel forced in. It presented us what we needed to know and look forward to their next move. On the good guys side, after all the Hell that they went through these past six volumes, they FINALLY got to catch a break. They made it to Argus safely, their moods have greatly improved, and they are once more focused on the task at hand. Hard to say if they feel any better about Ozpin yet, and considering we still haven’t seen Jaune man-handle Oscar, I assume that it’s gonna come up soon. But for right now, it’s just good to see our heroes happy and laughing again. Heck I got close to chocking up when Jaune and Ruby hugged and just seeing the pure relief on the paladin’s face. He’s earned it. They all have more than earned it.

The flashback, and in turn the deeper insight into Maria’s character, were also absolutely fantastic. Maria was a pure badass in her younger days and, while I wish that there was more foreshadowing (like mentioning the Grimm Reaper in passing or something), I absolutely can see why she was a legend. Once more CRWBY shows us a fast-paced, badass fight sequence and they all look so good. They’ve been striving much harder with the fights, which makes sense since it was one of the biggest complaints about V5, and it is very much appreciated. They are doing Monty proud. And Tock is such a fun one-time antagonist. Wicked design, awesome Semblance, a cocky but fun personality, her screentime was short but she made sure to own every second of it. And gotta say this, she had one Hell of a death scene!

It also served to help make Maria feel all that well-rounded of a character. I’ve loved her since the moment that she first introduced herself, and I’ve been loving her more and more with each new chapter. She’s sassy and independent, but wise and considering she stowed away on the train as all the chaos was brewing, has a noble spirit. And when you think about it, her stowing away makes sense. She feels guilty for hiding away after losing her eyes and being unable to move forward after it. She doesn’t come off as a weakling or a coward, she comes off as a sympathetic old woman who knows that she’s made missteps, and feels guilty because she failed to do her part to make things better. Hopefully she will agree to train Ruby and be the guiding light that the girl needs to master her powers and continue to help make people’s lives better. But yeah, so far Maria is the best new character in the show, and this episode truly solidified that.

But speaking of new characters, let us talk about the Cotta-Arc’s. First, I love Saphron. She’s bubbly, energetic, and super charming. The way that she teases Jaune is so silly, but you can tell that she loves her little brother and how affectionate she is. Getting to meet one of Jaune’s sisters at long last was a real treat and her and Jaune’s interactions were a major highlight for me. As for Terra, she also seems like a friendly lady, more than happy to house Huntsmen for all the good that they do for others. And Adrian I a total cutie and I still can’t believe that Jaune is a freakin uncle. I love it so much!

But of course, let us talk about the importance of these characters. They r 4our first LGBT couple in the series. We have Ilia, who I adore and she was a good first step, but now we have an actual married couple in the series. This is EXACTLY how you do representation. RT’s had a couple of examples of LGBT at this point (The Millers in Camp Camp, Agent Ohio (lesbian) and Sister (bi) in RvB, Skout in Nomad, Grimmons (RvB) in my own dreamworld) and so far they’ve done a good job. But aside form The Millers, this is the first blatant married couple that they’ve put into the show. And it was done beautifully. Saphron and Terra are portrayed as friendly young women with no stereotypes or cliches attached. They come across as regular people who are in love and just happen to both be women. Terra calls Saphron 'hon’, Saph goes to help her with groceries, they hold hands while sitting together, Saph is understanding when Terra has to answer a work call, it’s super sweet and, well… normal. And no one questions it or even addresses it when Terra comes in. They’re treated like any other couple, ad THIS is how you do proper representation. You portray your characters as people first and foremost, and then just let them be a couple. There’s no need to make a big deal out of it or put it under a spotlight. Let it be normal. Let it not be questioned. It is a VERY positive portrayal of LGBT characters and it made me cry in happiness when I watched it the first time. Thank you CRWBY. Thank you so much for this.

Final Thoughts

What more can I say? This episode was fantastic! A new setting, enjoyable new characters, a badass fight sequence, and plenty of build-up for what’s to come. But most of all, it was a positive episode. The characters got to be happy, and as such I was happy. Of course it makes me worry for what evil Miles and Kerry are going to unleash next, but hey at least they know when to finally let us breathe. This episode was very much welcomed, and I loved every second of it! Th first half of V6 has been a lot of things, but the one thing that it hasn’t been is disappointing. I eagerly await the second half for what is currently a strong contender for the best volume since V3! Great job CRWBY!

Random thought I had, but does Kerri get along with Mahogany??? Same explorer class and all, I was just curious :D

They have this nonchalant acceptance of one another XD They know each other is there and will communicate if needed as hexers have different thought patterns to other classes. They will tell each other any important information that needs to be passed along, but in truth they’re more concerned and interested in the lives of their guildmates~

They’re also both rather airheaded at times and walk into walls so poor Lynus is often left exasperated with the both of them XD
