" Despite the bittersweet note they left Innes and Deckend on, things were going great. Perfect, even. They’ve been driving for about ten hours now, and Caz’s spirits were rising with each uninterrupted minute that passed.

Whenever they got rare moments of rest like this, he and Roy would chat for hours about whatever came to mind, to avoid thinking about the bad things that also came to mind. It had been comforting, finding the littlest sense of normalcy in the chaos. And even with Roy long gone, and Caz having accepted that by now, he still tried to cling to the memory.

(Suze had hated him for it, but he couldn’t help but hold onto the past. How could he just let go? Of the memories, good and bad? Of the blood on his hands, both because of himself and because of his failures? How could he ever remake himself without what happened always taking up his thoughts, staining the back of his mind?

Although, he was pretty sure that most of her anger stemmed from being unable to forget it all, herself.

Either way, she was gone, and he would never see her again if he didn’t go through with this, if he didn’t tolerate Billy for a while longer.) "

More SWTC! Deviating from chronological order a bit, now, but I NEEDED to write more about this AU, and doing that in the correct order of events would involve action, and I don’t wanna do action rn.
