….. Pokémon au…..
Detailed teams and thoughts below the read more.
These teams would be around the start of the black whale arc, i lightly mapped out which arcs they’d catch and evolve in! No deaths in this au, lesser stakes, this is pokemon. This is only the main 4 for now.
Gon’s team: lots of heavy hitting at the sake of taking damage, lots of environmentally useful moves.
Kon- Ursaluna: Main Partner. met as teddiursa with Kite as a child. With him for all of series.
Bon- wailord: caught in whale island, evolves into wailord during hunter exam. I love the concept of a small child with only massive Pokémon tbh.
Mon- Togekiss: Mito(Poke-breeder) gave him this egg to hatch and everyone finds it funny his hair matches. Probably trains and evolves with Bisky(Former Champ/Gymleader) in GI training times. Once she evolved to Togekiss they LOVE flying together.
Ja-Jan- Scizor: he caught scyther traveling with Kite and evolves it training with Knuckle, it’s cause of Knuckle that his naming pattern is different. Ja Ja Ken themed pokemon! Bisky teaches them how Mega-evolution works!
Don- Kommo-o: Instead of a video game, Ging left Gon two dragon eggs, one he kept and hatched into the battle loving Don and the other he gifted to Killua. Also evolves during GI training. They have immensely similar personalities.
Solgaleo doesnt belong to him, they're friends. Killua and Gon both help a Cosmoem/Cosmog and when fighting along side Gon it takes on this form! only see this during the parallel to the Chimera Ant arc.
I also consdered: Koraidon, Hitmonchan, Heracross, Kanto-Nintales, Pidgeotto, Eevee, dondozo, Wishiwashi, Annihilape, Dragonite, etc.
Killua's team: the Zoldyck family is notorious for their Dark and poison type trainers and protecting Kukuru Mt. a similar vibe to Aether research group.
Cocoa-Weaville: Main partner. perfect IVs, Good EVs, a classic Zoldyck match. they get better together. Her nickname is a secret between the both of them till after Gon and friends rescue him from his house.
Mallow-Crobat: Also already on his team for the Hunter Exam as a Golbat. also Family Approved. He's frustrated by its inability to evolve until he does while visiting Whale Island with Gon.
Pop Rocks- Luxray: Caught during Heavens Arena timeline and evolved fully with Bisky training. his first time choosing a pokemon for himself and having fun.
Taffy- Silvally: Given to him by his Dad as a Type:Null, but rarely used because Killua knows it hates battling and doesnt want it to hate him. the Mask removal likes up nicely with the Needle removal moment. they learn to Battle for themselves and enjoy it over time.
Bonbon- Salamence: Killua's first time hatching a pokemon egg gifted to him by Gon. shes a little defiant and stubborn, Killua blames Gon's influence. Also evolved under Bisky training. If asked why her nickname matches Gons pokemon he will tell you to stop imagining things.
Lunala is also not technically his, he also helps out the same Cosmog/Cosmoem and is blown away when it takes on this form for him while he's rescuing Alluka/Nanika and their Jirachi.
Also considered: Miraidon, Killowatrel, Hitmontop, Floragato, Morpeko, Jolteon, toxtricity, snealser, Alolan-Ninetails, etc.
Leorio's team: this man is deceptivly good at battling but no one would guess it looking at his team. He has the slowest progress in training compared to his friends but tbf he's also attending medical school. lowest effort nicknames.
Gimmi-Gimmighoul: Main Partner. here from the start but stays as a Roving form until we see Leorio again at the election arc and its in its treasure chest form! they are besties.
Pooch- Mightyena: has as a Poochyena for the Hunter exam and his main battler. Cheedle first notices Leorio because she pays extra attention to Dog pokemon and approves of how they battle together. both of these guys give bad first impressions.
Audi- Audino: also a pokemon he starts the hunter exam with but he's a little self conscious of her. Not that either of them ever hesitate to go doctor mode even if they don't match each others vibes. She knows Leorio deep down has a good heart and she refuses to tolerate his nonsense so she can be dis-agreeable until he says what he really means. Learns Mega-evolution off camera just like his nen.
Boar- Tepig: gift egg from Ging as a congrats for getting the Zodiac position after him. Leorio is trying extremely hard to live up to expectations and Boar is probably the most spoiled Pokemon by all of Leorio's team.
Lunch- Applin: in a reference to the Gon giving Leorio and apple scene in 99 anime i really wanted to put an applin on his team. probably given to him by Gon, maybe from whale island. Leorio has no idea how to train this guy, hes working on it. I'm not 100% on this one.
Xerneas- its not unusual for hunters to form bonds with legendaries if they impress them. and i think Xerneas would like Leorio's gumption and kindness. :) plus parallel for Kurapika. probably starts bonding with him around the end of the Election arc.
Kurapika's team: I wish we knew more about the Kurta language cause i think he'd name them after that. It was less a massacre and more a mass destructive event as the PT looted their remote village looking for rare and valuable pokeon, probably following the rumors of a psudo-legendary doomsaying pokemon.
Nemesis-Absol: Main Partner. They both feel responsibly for the attack and seek both vengeance and the return of any pokemon taken. She is just as driven and determined as he is. they learn to mega-evolve while training with Mizuken pre York New.
Prometheus-Blaziken: caught as a torchick post PT attack. insp by the ride-able birds in the Memory comics! the second most dedicated and determined on the team along side Nemesis. loves training. pressent for Hunters exam.
Aion-Metagross: caught and trained with a matching beldum alongside Pairo. Sheila helped them catch them! too bad Pairo's beldum went missing in the PT attack. present for Hunters exam.
Odysea-Palafin: a pokemon Kurapika always adored and was super excited to catch. Dolphin fan boy. Heroic type the vibes are perfect.
Achlys- Rattata: F.E.A.R. tactics. A gift from Pariston after inheriting his Zodiac position. neither of them are above using this tactic if need be lol. His feelings about her are cautious suspicion but they are growing closer over time.
Yveltal is the Legendary that Kurapika willingly made a deal with to give himself the certainty of defeating the PT. they are what they are and its not the healthiest bond but Kurapika would never blame it for its nature and his own choices.
Also Considered: Dodrio, Gyarados(Shiny), Hydredgeon, Talonflame, Giratina, Corviknight, Armorouge, Husian-Zorark, Klefki, All of the Ruinous legendaries, ect.
#HxH#Hunter x Hunter#pokemon#sketches#gon freecss#killua zoldyck#leorio paladiknight#Kurapika Kurta#got really long with my notes oops#I made this harder on myself by giving them themed nicknames lmao#drawing on a different tablet than usual so it feels a bit off but not bad

Hi! Been reading for a while and I decided to ask, are you including certain animal behaviours with specific pokemon? Like based on what Flygon said and how fae are in this universe, is fae characteristics more like reptiles? Does this apply to other pokemon that can be attributed to animals in our earth? Sorry if this has been explained before!
Uhhhhhhh! Good question. I do like to incorporate animal traits into pokemon, cause they read to me as magical superpowered animals even in PMD settings where they like build houses and stuff. Like yeah, that fae lore was originally pulled from irl reptiles, though for this comic I actually stole that bit of worldbuilding from another story about dragons I wrote a few years ago. Poochyenas wag their tails, mudkips love to swim, taillows live in big flocks, etc. The whole thing about tribes in FYRverse is basically inspired by animal herds.
FYR worldbuilding is like a weird amalgamation of animal characteristics, PMD worldbuilding, and inspiration from irl and human society. On top of it all, I'm not actually that good of a worldbuilder anymore, so shit kinda gets confusing lol.

So this Au still needs a name, BUT
I have figured out what Most of the pokemon evolved from! It only took uh, lemme look at a clock, a week or three!
For those not interested in clicking a link, it's a pokemon/dc crossover but pokemon is straight up just a Gotham thing. Like, the flora and fauna and everything else have become corrupted/ mutated/ adapted, etc into strange creatures with stranger abilities thanks to the chemicals, magic, death pits, curses, and everything else all mixing together.
So anyway, have a list of what each pokemon originally were before Gotham got a hold of them. Some things brought into Gotham (such as via zoos, museums, or rogues or whatever) and others always there. Do keep in mind I am (mostly) not including Legendaries because I'm still not sure if I want those in the Au yet lol.

⏵Most non-sapient plant variation has happened in things such as berries & fruits
⏵It’s noted that many of the creatures show signs of convergent evolution to other animals & plants, especially in further mutations
⏵Several animals & other things not native to Gotham or New Jersey were brought in as experiments or for the Gotham Zoo which were affected over time
Like IRL Animals & Plants, They Can Have Mutations & Color Variations:
Normal color/Pattern [Very Common]
“Shinies” [Uncommon color variant]
Piebaldism/Vitiligo [Patches of no melanism]
Albinism [No melanism]
Leucism [No melanism save for eyes]

Been getting a lot of questions about how my family takes care of so many eebies, so I've decided to explain that a bit!
First of all, a list of eebies currently living at my house:
Me (Wobble)
Lily (Buizel) @whimsical-westbrook
Mika (Furret) @fated-furret
Shard (Alolan Ninetales) @johto-blizzard
Dai (Poochyena) @that-dog-in-him
Abigail (Mienfoo) @skating-mienfoo-fiend
Lane, Elisa, Dominic (Mew, Celebi, Manaphy) @kitten-of-change
Vivi (Delcatty) @skittyanon
Fares (Flaafy (still sleebying)) @fluffares
Cobalt (Giratina) @refri-gira-tor
There's also Niko, who's not an eeby, but a regular Sentret. He lives here too, with Mika.
That makes 12 eebies living at my house, and 16 people here in total if you include mom and dad, Nisa, and Niko.
So how do we all get the food, water, room, and support we need?
Well, most of us are pretty small. Biggest ones of us are mom, dad, Nisa, Shard, Fares, and Cobalt. The rest of us are tiny! So most of us don't need too much food or water.
My house is also pretty big, with enough rooms for us all. My parents got it for really cheap because it was supposedly haunted, so we still have enough money to pay for everyone here's needs and wants.
I'm also an aspiring chef, and our kitchen is pretty big, so I can make food for us all!
Mom and dad also make sure to spend at least some time with us all each day. Well, unless we request time alone. Mom's hugs are the best.
Besides that, I also do my best to help when anyone is feeling down, giving hugs and words of support.
It's a bit chaotic, sure, but I wouldn't give up the people here for the world.
(And yes, I said people. For all the fur and tails and scales we all have, we're all still people.)

@gonestarroaming thank you :D {sorry it’s took so long, got a wee bit stumped. hopefully the length makes up for it?}
giving the Trigun Polycule Pokemon bc yes {I have something similar to this already but that’s more tristamp oriented}
🍩Vash🍩
1. Clefable 2. Armarouge 3. Zekrom
- Zekrom doesn’t so much belong to Vash, rather they are one in the same - The Ideals Pokemon is embodied within Vash’s immortal make, the two intertwined down to the core {they miss being complete, miss Knives and Tesla} - Vash found Clefable as a Cleffa, battered and spat at in a world as cruel as Gunsmoke - He tried to get it somewhere safer, somewhere with healed souls not prone to violence, but she was as attached to him as he was to her - They never parted ways and Cleffa grew into Clefable, keeping Vash together with a determination that rivalled Vash’s pacifism - Armarouge was Rai-Dei’s as a Charcadet, but it didn’t evolve into a Ceruledge like he wanted - It was cast aside immediately and left to fend for itself until it found Vash - “How can anybody look at Pokemon like you and turn you away? You’ve got some of the kindest eyes I’ve ever seen”
🕶️Wolfwood🕶️
1. Gengar 2. Mightyena 3. Phantump
- He’s had Mightyena since it was a Poochyena - It was stand-offish and hurt, digging around behind his house when Wolfwood was only a boy - He gave it some food and hid it from his father, the two glued at the hip for long after the Eye of Michael took him - Gengar and him instantly bonded when Wolfie was out looking for Vash for the first time - He sat next to the pokemon, breathing out around a cigarette and said, “so people think you’re bad luck, huh?” a pause, stunned silence, and then “yeah, i get that” and the two continued on - Phantump followed him for days, so in awe that the man -despite shooing him away multiple times- was so gentle doing so - It begged to join Wolfwood’s team, begged and cried and clung - The man didn’t think he deserved something so precious - “I’m a terrible man, awful really. you should find someone else” It wouldn’t. “…Suit yourself”
📸Meryl📸
1. Cincinno
- Meryl was given an egg from her parents as a child - The Minccino inside was small, like Meryl, and feisty. It bit at her fingers and spat like a Purrloin - Meryl didn’t give up, determined to prove to her parents she could raise her own Pokemon - She didn’t want to be handed a partner, if she was going to get anything in life it’d be by her own two hands and hard work - She defended the Pokemon until bullies and wild Pokemon mottled her skin more blue and purple than fair - Minccino didn’t see how it deserved that level of devotion and care, didn’t understand why Meryl would go that far - “We’re going to see the world together,” Meryl declared, bruised and scuffed, “We’re going to be amazing and we’ll do it together. I don’t want anyone else by my side!” - And Minccino knew right then and there that Meryl was its forever trainer
✨Milly✨
1. Conkelldur 2. Maushold
- Milly found Maushold as a Tandemous, her first ever encounter with a wild Pokémon - She only found one tho, of the pair, and Tandemous was so heartbrokenly devastated that Milly spent all night tracking down its missing half - “You have a family too, Mr. Tandemous?” she had asked, “There’s no greater thing, I think. I won’t rest until you’re back with yours!” - Milly and Tandemous never parted after that - Timburr was a lonely, lonely Pokemon - It lashed out, angry at the world for abandoning it and even angrier at itself for being so hurt over it - Milly is first and foremost a gentle soul and she knows loneliness when she sees it - Meryl doesn’t stop her, schedule be damned, from pursuing the new companion; she’s no hypocrite - Milly pours all her love into a hug for Timburr, every ounce of understanding she possesses goes out to it - No words are needed, the Insurance Girls carry on with a new companion at their side
story under the cut :D
Wolfwood isn’t made to be gentle. His sandpaper hands mark everything he touches with proof of his wake, his breath of nicotine and smoke choke out any beauty that could ring and grow. Nicholas D. Wolfwood is a soldier, an assassin for hire.
He’s not made for gentle love.
Not when he’s brushing through the thick fur of Mightyena to help her sleep, not when Gengar needs a little more reassurance that he’s not to blame for a bout of bad luck, and not when Phantump sleeps on his lap after a bad dream.
His hands are stained red. And they’re immune to being bleached by the kindness he’s been offered by his target, who stands tall in an equally as red coat.
They leave stains on the gentle people he’s been given. The girl with fire in her veins who rightfully distrusted him but still didn’t shy away, the girl with infinite love in her soul who- despite everything he’s confessed to- cups his face with her calloused hands when he comes home late, and the being with eyes as kind and timeless as a god Wolfwood wasn’t sure he actually believed in.
Love is when Vash’s Clefable clings to Gengar and Gengar to Clefable with all the love of two long separated souls reuniting.
Love is when Meryl’s Cinccino dusts off his suits and cuddles against him even when he’s filthy from his day.
Love is when Milly’s Maushold tucks themself into his pockets when he needs a little company.
And love is when his own Pokémon, hurt by the world and scorned, give themselves to the soft people he’s found.
Wolfwood’s not made to be gentle.
But- he thinks, looking at his new family- maybe he could learn to be
might do smth from the other’s perspectives as well but this was taking to long already hehe….

I'm thinking about adopting a Poochyena, do you have any tips on how to take care of one?
aww, poochyena! one of my favorites, if you couldn't tell ;]
poochyena are feisty little pokemon and tend to be more active at night! the biggest thing to prep for is, of course, their tremendous bite. be prepared to do a LOT of training on what's appropriate to chew vs. what isn't. speaking of, you need to poké-proof VERY well with these guys. they'll eat just about anything they can get their mouth on, from garbage to power cables to cleaning supplies.
if you have small children or little pokemon in your house, i wouldn't recommend getting a poochyena. aside from their bite, which could easily hurt or even kill something little, they have an extremely active prey drive. poochyena that get away from their trainers while chasing prey have been found several miles away.
in terms of care, they need plenty of durable chew toys and walk time, but they also enjoy scent-based enrichment! they hunt, but they also scavenge, and making them smell out their food is a great way to give them something to do. they do well on a commercial canine pokemon food. they're also a highly social pokemon that likes playtime with other pokemon, but i would only let them socialize with other canine pokemon that are equal in size to them or larger- otherwise they could do some serious damage in play.
one last caveat- be prepared for your house to smell if you get one. they're quite musky lol

I really need to hear about the romeo that wasn’t neutered
So, we usually have a couple months where we allow the parents and kids to bring their pokemon for early registration. So we're a bit crowded with several small critters and a family arrives. They have a poochyena and a buneary. While they are getting the courtyard tour another family comes. This time is just a girl and her pet buneary. Eventually we have the pokemon stay in the toddler pen while the kids get a tour of the rest of the classrooms.
Now, we usually don't let any pokemon inside at all unless they bring all their papers. Proof or adoption or catch, vaccine records, and of course proof that they have been neutered. Both buneary had them so they were allowed to be inside.
The thing is, we're not a goverment agency so we arent equipped to make absolutely sure that the papers given haven't been falsified. And also making fake papers for a school isn't considered as serious as, say, making fake documentation for the league. So we had no way of knowing the neutering papers were fake.
And whose papers was it? The buneary. And of course it was a male and a female.
At pickup time, they are half hidden behind one of the beds and just, refuse to come out. They were this 🤏 close to biting one of the kids, which if you didn't know, in Unova is grounds to have a pokemon euthanized. So I have to call Bianca and her Musharna to have then psychic'd out of the pen.
And there were five eggs in the corner.
So, to not make the story even longer than I have already made, they did have to pay us a fee for taking in the baby bunearys because there was no way in hell I was going to hand a litter of baby bunearys to the people who faked neutering records. And that's what I have been stuck with for a while now. Buneary hatch and grow fast so now I have a full house, one will hopefully be adopted by Mare with another maybe getting into Touya's hands. Hopefully they will get proper homes once they can be weaned off their mother.

The poochyena line
General notes: A decent pokemon with not-so-decent PR, the poochyena is a very good choice for experienced trainers wanting to start out training dark types but who don't have access to the rarer kinds like absol. Despite the bad press that came with them being prominently used by members of team aqua and team magma, they're worth the time for those willing to put the work in.
General care: A tough, sturdy pokemon, poochyena and mightyena thrive in many environments, requiring few if any accommodations. They're omnivorous by nature and can eat just about anything, but a word of caution.
Though wild poochyena/mightyena are known for being accomplished scavengers, they can do this because they've grown up wild and are used to supplementing their diet with carrion. As a result, they have a gut biome primed to tolerate rancid meat, something Mr Giggles the house poochyena lacks. Attempting to cut costs by feeding your poochyena carrion will only result in a very sick pokemon. If you've captured a wild poochyena, this is a habit you may have to break unless you intend to release it later.
These pokemon have powerful jaws, and like to chew on things. They'll need heavy duty toys that can tolerate a LOT of punishment.
This line is notorious for shedding, so keep a roller brush handy. Care rating: Green
Training: This line can be stubborn, particularly the poochyena. You can expect it to try and stand it's ground against training, bristling its fur and snarling. It's a tenacious pokemon, and training it can be quite frustrating. Their group structure in nature is quite dominance based, and you'll need to make sure it accepts you outrank it. This is not a pokemon recommended for inexperienced or timid trainers. You'll need to be firm and consistant.
Many people give up on training poochyena, which is unfortunate, because once you've proven yourself as its leader, the mightyena is well worth the trouble. Loyal, strong and very affectionate to those it likes, they'll tirelessly obey orders, both on the battle grounds and off them. Training rating: Orange
Safety: Particularly at the start of their training, they have a reputation as being quite nippy, and a poochyena's bite is no joke. Though a well trained poochyena will happily play fetch with a child, it's recommended this play time is supervised. Mightyena are less playful, but a trusted and loyal one will quite literally give its life to defend its trainers child. Safety rating: Orange
Overall ranking. Though difficult and stubborn, with time and patience they become loyal, loving companions for whatever life throws at you.

saffron: i knew i was forgetting something. shadow - i apologise for the lack of guessing at your identity lately, i know you enjoyed that. it's a long story, but the logical guesses are all gone as far as i can tell, the silly guesses are fuchsia's job, and we can't work together for the perfect balance right now.
if you want to know what's going on - silver and lynda know, if they won't mind explaining; i would, but we need to sleep.
and maxie - we think the egg is almost hatched, though there is a slight wrench - how do you think they'll react to four people merging into one person if they're already attached to one of said people? ideally they'll attach to den for the least changes... again, long story and i apologise for this out of nowhere. in a worst-case our long-term housemate simon can look after them until we're, ah, back to normal. if he becomes the pack leader then that can be worked with, since it's unlikely he'll leave any time soon...
Shadow: Lynda has already informed me as best she can, we have quite close correspondence, as I do the things he can't do in her position without heavy amounts of paper work and stalling. So there is no need to worry. I will alert Maxie quickly to take the phone so he can respond.
Maxie: I think it would be best to avoid letting the pup see anything odd or possibly attach to one of the others if you can. Otherwise you might have an issue of the little Poochyena bonding to one of the others and have them confused looking for them. So having your long term house mate look after the egg would be the best plan I would say.

i caught the first few shadow pokemon (other than the mandatory teddiursa, also ledyba and poochyena) and got to agate village and now i’m taking a break because i am sleepy and have a headache 😭
it’s refreshing exploring gateon port again though, the area isn’t huge but it feels satisfying to explore with the rotating bridges in the middle and the place has an actual culture to it that isn’t JUST everyone around here is tough and wants to fight you!! i love colo but other than agate village that entire game has a very same-y feel throughout of these grungy rough towns and it’s nice to go to a seaside port to spice things up a little bit. i also like how the pokemon center looks a lot, and how it also seemingly serves as a mini public library here??
no pictures of any of this bc i was tired and i have to stand up every time to take pictures of my TV unless i want them to come out terrible and blurry, but i love the ex-sailor NPC in one of the houses who quit being a sailor to raise an oddish and is just obsessed w his oddish. he has a book in his room about land-dwelling pokemon in direct contrast to the book about ocean-dwelling pokemon in the aforementioned pokemon center 😭 (which makes sense because of it being a seaside port town)
