Gillette out did itself when it released a short film less than a week ago. The new Gillette Ad challenges men to 'Shave their Toxic Masculinity' and people are a little too furious. Being a woman in this society, we see the gender biased problems more than men can ever. It's hard to imagine the heat outside when you are in a centrally air conditioned home where no-one can touch you. I do not have a problem with men not being able to see the problem, I have a problem with their lack of empathy. At least accept the fact that there is a problem. That is enough for your part!! I absolutely love how Gillette has made it clear that 'some men are good. But some is not enough'. Boys cannot remain boys. They need to grow up and take responsibility for their actions. They need to understand that there such a thing as an uncomfortable gaze; catcalling does not flatter a person; touching is not okay; violence is not the key just because you're physically stronger; raising your voice does not mean power!! Men need to understand that they are human beings just like women. They CAN have emotions and cry. They CAN be weak. They ARE imperfect too. We accept that about them as long as they accept it. Yes I do want equality. I want cerebral equality. Instead of being offended on serious social matters, listen and be empathetic. That's all we ask.
