when they're still driving, they really throw themselves into racing and training. if they think about you too much they'll go into anxious spirals. there's a lot of stress relief happening in their hotel rooms after races. seb flirts less with journalists because there's this little voice in the back of his head telling him he might never see you again and this is what he's doing ... jenson goes in the opposite direction and starts making more jokes about one night stands because he's trying to ignore his emotions.

after they retire, they've both mellowed out a bit—they've seen you through several deployments now, and they're more content to just go about life relatively normally until you come home. they still get a little intense about their hobbies when you're away, though. jenson goes full petrolhead about his car collection and takes more jobs commentating with sky. seb gets reallyyyyyy into beekeeping and diy and gardening. you come home to four new garden beds and a luxury car to go with each of them.

if you're one of their engineers the other will constantly pout that they don't get to hear you during the race

you do remind them that you're working during races

whoever's on your radio does not care and will flirt with you anyway

to compensate, jenson gets first dibs at post-race hugs/kisses

if you're the engineer of another driver, both of them are either extra hard on that driver because they're jealous

OR

they go easier on that driver (especially if they're younger / a rookie) because they want the race to be easy for you

only partly because you're much more open to post-race sex when you're not stressed

okay so either you're on the younger end of the early 2010's grid so, while you are older than most of the current grid, you're still well and truly within racing age OR you're their controversially younger boyfriend which. good for you tbh. wish that was me.

anyway, people initially think that one of them might be coming back to driving if you haven't come out yet. why else would they always be seen in the f1 paddock????

jenson takes more commentating gigs with sky as a coverup and is very subtly defensive over you. he's the embodiment of "free my man he did all of it but idc". he's going to war in instagram comment sections. the secrecy does not last long.

seb, on the other hand, is living his wag dreams. he's hanging out in your garage and watching you race and baking for the other wags. he's avoiding all media (except jenson) like the plague because everyone is asking him when he's coming back as a driver. jenson is mildly bitter about this because he's still racing in other series but HE never gets the when are you coming back?? questions.

if you get a podium or a win they WILL go feral over the sight of you dowsed in champagne. every afterparty in your driver's room will read like an ao3 fanfic at 3am. they may be retired but my god are they difficult to tire out.

first of all, they're both super protective of you. any media outlet that posts rude commentary about you being trans will never get a good interview with them ever again. their teams might try to dissuade them from a full boycott, but they don't play about people they love.

when you finally get to share a podium with all three of you—no matter the order—you're all ecstatic. the fia officials have to work overtime to herd the three of you to get weighed because you're too busy hugging and screaming at each. the cooldown room is only very briefly shown because by the time they cut to it when p1 enters whoever came p2 and p3 are already making out. you guys go a liiiiiiiiiittle bit overboard with the champagne.
