She reacts by running away and hiding somewhere because she cannot conceive of a reality where even one of her friends has a crush on her, let alone five.

This leads to those five girls working together to track Yoshiko down, eventually the chase leads them somewhere really romantic like a garden or something and Yoshiko finally faces them and hears them all out, tearfully accepts their affection and gets a big group hug 😌

Chika and Riko sat enjoying the sun on the slope overlooking the sports ground, turned so they were almost facing each other. On the grass their shadows where thoroughly tangled, their actual bodies less so. The school administration had strong views on appropriate public conduct. Closeness and a little light petting was easily defensible, since as demonstrated by other groups around them, it was quite common even among platonic friends. As far as Riko was concerned, the thrill of minor rule-breaking just made the occasional stolen kiss that much sweeter.

"Hi guys"

"Hi Hanamaru, whats up?" Chika responded cheerfully.

Their friend sat down on the grass beside them. "You two have dealt with this sort of thing, and I need some advice"

"Sure, what about?"

"You know what people have been saying, about me... and the football team"

At the recent school fair Hanamaru's eating prowess had attracted a certain amount of fascination from the boys at the adjacent school, particularly as she responded to their encouragement. As a result of those events, in addition to a permanent ban on foot-long hot dogs at school events, she had gained certain level of notoriety. This, and her continued association with the boys, had earned her the enmity of a group of the more socially "outgoing" girls, who saw her as stealing their spotlight. Whether or not they counted as truely "mean girls", they certainly weren't above spreading some mean stories.

Chika glanced at Riko uncomfortably. Hanamaru was right, they had plenty of experience with unkind rumours. "Yeah, I think I know the one"

"It's so unfair!" Hanamaru huffed. "I haven't done that, not with any of them! They treat me like a sister, or princess or something" Frustration tinged her voice.

Chika nodded in sympathy, stories like that could be so infuriating, even if nobody really believed them. "You can't control what people think of you"

"I just wish I could change things"

"You could try talking to them" Riko suggested, "Even if they don't change, at least you have let them know how it makes you feel, so it is their problem"

"It is kind of awkward to bring up" Hanamaru sighed and turned to stare down at the sports ground. "Look at them down there, without a care in the world"

Chika followed her gaze and saw that the mean girls were gathered at the edge of the field, ogling the football team as they ran laps. "Kind of shameless" she conceded.

"...Running around getting sweaty in those tight little shorts, I just want to go down there and-" Hanamaru stopped and her face hardened with resolve.

"Er" Chika had seen that hungry look on Hanamaru's face before... generally around baked goods. With a shared look of shock at Riko she started to re-asses the conversation she thought she had been having.

Hanamaru stood up "Just like you said, if I don't say anything, nothing will change" she strode of down the slope.

The couple sat in contemplative silence for a while.

"Don't tell me she really is going down there to talk to the team" Riko smiled nervously.

"Ok, then I wont"

"But she is, isn't she?"

"Maybe she is just going to talk to them on the way to the girls" Chika didn't sound convinced. After thinking for a while, she moved her position so she was almost parallel to her girlfriend "If she uses gestures, I don't want to see" she explained apologetically.

After a while she spoke up again "So is that even a thing, like team-o-sexual?"

"I don't know. I suppose there is polygamy, or polyamory" she saw Chika's puzzled look "Being in a relationship with more than one other person where it might be more complex than just one and many"

"Well, aren't you knowledgable. Do I have to watch you around other girls now?"

"You're all the girl I need" Riko leaned over to deliver a brief but heartfelt kiss.

"Sakurauchi!"

She looked up the hill to see the teacher. "Sorry sensei!", turning back to Chika she mouthed "Worth it", before getting up to receive her lecture.

Yō smiled as Hanamaru entered the store, it added a bit of variety to the evening. Her friend had been doing a lot less Friday night shopping since she had switched to rechargeable batteries. How did one person use that many batteries, anyway? The girl did like gadgets... she imagined a large collection of buzzing oddly shaped and brightly coloured toys. Fans, remote controlled cars, engraving tools, that sort of thing. There was an art to retail, distributing your mental and physical activity evenly though the shift to avoid exhaustion and boredom. There was the entertainment of making guesses about people's plans based on their shopping list, tempered by the fine art of knowing when such speculation should be avoided lest it open doors best left closed.

When Hanamaru came to the counter smiling and humming cheerfully, Yō took one look at the items and carefully, deliberately, shut down the speculative parts of her brain. Two dozen condoms and an X-large bottle of lube.  There might be an innocent explanation, but it didn't seem safe to look for it. "My parents are away for the weekend" She explained.

"Um, ok." After a pause, Yō switched on her retail smile, "Will that be all?" she asked brightly.

"Um, hang on" Hanamaru dashed off, returning a moment later with several large bottles of sports drink "Have to stay hydrated, Zura!"

(Bzzzzz... It's the future, Zura!)

The coach scowled at the boys jogging sluggishly around the field. Kids these days! Most of them had skipped weekend practice and they still didn't have any energy.

(Before high school she never thought that she would become a fast woman, but thanks to the Aquors training regime, now only the quickest and wariest boys can escape)

Watching the girl carefully at lunch Riko felt that Hanamaru seemed even more cheerful and bouncy than usual. But then what was she looking for? The target of her surveillance took out a sheet of paper, the boys' school athletic roster, she realised, and started looking over it intently. Like a menu, her watcher worried.

"Yō, swimming builds stamina for other things, right?"

"Sure. Thinking of trying a marathon?"

"Oooh, marathon, good idea!" She picked up a pen and put marks beside a couple of names on the roster.

Riko shared a look with Chika and carefully focused her attention on her food. Maybe it was better not to be sure.

"Nah", they jumped, hearing the coach behind them "He could use a few more laps"

A/N: Ok, that last one in really poor taste, but the pun is a classic. Almost didn't publish these because it isn't very PC, but in the end I don't think it turned out too bad. It actually started out as a serious idea about Hanamaru approaching established Chika/Riko couple for advice about initiating things with her oblivious boyfriend... but I got sidetracked. The original idea (or maybe a more serious take on Poly!Hanamaru) might still happen if I ever write a sequel for Girl Friends.

Since Ruby was a bit too shy to talk to you about something so serious, considering how they hadn’t known you for too long, Hanamaru went to you one day and filled you in about how they both wanted to be with you, if that was okay with you

You have reservations, still thinking that it might be too much for them, that they won’t be able to get past it if something went wrong

But you agree, and the three of you end up being happier together than you ever thought possible

You like to sleep/cuddle together, and always fight over who gets to be in the middle, but it’s not like you actually fight

You never really fight, since Ruby is so mature, Hanamaru is so relaxed, and you love them both enough to not let your feelings get in the way of your relationship

Kalafina Harmony Vol. 4 - Hikaru at Animate Café ~ Translation

Here is another translation of the latest Harmony magazine, this time it’s the bonus chapter of Hikaru going to an collaboration café in Ikebukuro. Now her usual Book Concierge part is all that’s left, but this one is the most demanding, in my opinion. Translating stuff you don’t know about is pretty tough, but having anime and manga stuff all thrown over you is worse XD

You know it, guys, neither my Japanese or English are perfect and there were certainly parts that I had trouble with. Have fun anyway!

Hikaru spending time in Collaboration Cafés

This time, Hikaru went to the newly opened “Touken Ranbu – Hanamaru” (Bluray and DVD on sale) collaboration café at Animate Café in Ikebukuro! Hikaru goes to such cafés in private as well, but this is to share the joy of collaboration cafés!

1. “Excuse me for disturbing” [this is a common phrase when you enter someone’s home etc.]

3. The waitress brought „Houchou Toushirou Sweet Milk Tea” and a tokuten coaster!

7. It’s a system where you order one thing and get one coaster as tokuten. It’s pure luck which character design you will get! “Hanamaru Sakura Latte” and the “Hizamaru” coaster.

11. In order for the coaster not to get dirty, she puts them into OPP bags (she brought them with herself) [OPP stands for Oriented Poly-Propylene (I think lol), some kind of special plastic bag]

It was fun as usual! *laughs* This is originally a place where only people who won at the lottery could enter, I felt so sorry for going there only because of the magazine…

Please tell us, if there are any points to consider in order to enjoy a collaboration café or what to prepare when going there?

You should properly look up the limited goods and the offered menu beforehand. You should roughly decide what items you want to order, and think about it at the venue once again.

Is the menu choice important?

In most of the collaboration cafés, you get only one tokuten per order. But since the tokutens are being given out at random, you don’t know which character you will get. Above all, you want your favorite character, right? Therefore you should order by checking your own physical condition and appetite. Hikaru’s rule is “Finish everything you order!”, that’s why you should order only the amount you can eat up.

I see, that’s useful! The waitress quickly brought the coaster on the reverse side facing upward to the table, together with the meals and drinks.

Yes, the reverse side…! When confirming the design I received, I always get very nervous! Will it be my favorite character…! But if I pray too much, my greed sensor activates and I won’t get my favorite…

So you better should not think too much about getting the one you want?

I think that some people might be interested, but don’t really have the courage to enter a collaboration café, if they don’t have any experience. But once I saw you having so much fun there, I might want to try this myself.

I see, you always get nervous in the beginning. However, there are many people going alone. Of course there are groups of 2 or 4 persons as well. Depending on the Anime, men also visit it. I want everyone, just like me, to enjoy the store or the menu full of love for one piece of work. It’s alright, because in there, everyone is a comrade who loves that same work *laughs*.

Since I answered the RubyMaru part of this ask, onto the LeahRubyMaru!

Somehow Leah ends up in the middle of everything. She doesn’t intend to, but whenever they’re walking together and holding hands, she’s in the middle. When they sleep together, she’s in the middle. It just always ends up that way. Granted, while she acts annoyed by it, she does actually enjoy it.

Ruby and Hanamaru went and politely asked Sarah if they could date her sister. It was really unnecessary, but they wanted to do it anyway. Leah was really embarrassed by it. Of course, Sarah said yes to them.

They cook together all the time. Leah has experience with the restaurant, Maru is talented and has had lots of practice at home, and Ruby is really good at baking. And so with these powers combined, they make it a point to cook something together at least once a week. They tend to distract eachother a bit, but the food always comes out great.

Since Leah lives far away. Ruby and Maru take pictures of themselves on dates and stuff a lot, to remind Leah of them. Leah appreciates it, but it makes her somewhat irritated too. It doesn’t feel fair that her girlfriends are out there, going on dates and kissing without her. It doesn’t cause any problems for their relationship, it jsut frustrates Leah a bit.

Hanamaru reads to them. Ruby and Leah sometimes have trouble sleeping, so they set up a skype call before bed. Hanamaru starts reading them a book and eventually the other two drift off. Maru makes sure she does it in the most soothing, calming voice she can. She hesitates to end the skype call sometimes, wanting to watch her girlfriends’ cute sleeping faces.

1. Favourite Girl?

Nico and Yohane! I like Yohane only slightly more than Nico, but they’re very close on my list. Following them would be, in order, Hanayo, Riko, and Mari.

9. Favorite card you have?

Ahh this is really hard to chose, I have a lot of favorites ;; I have Animal and Halloween Yohane, both very cute cards especially when idolized. I also have Angel Mari, which is fitting since she’s my spirit girl/blessed girl (seriously, she always comes home whenever I ask for her to, her birthday is one day before mine, her image color is purple aka my favorite color, and her catchphrase is “Shiny!” which I shouldn’t even have to explain).

24. Best Second Year?

Kotori, easily! She’s so cute and I love her design so much, and while some people might not like her voice, I find her singing absolutely adorable (and actually somewhat similar to my singing voice, when I sing in my higher range).

41. Headcanons?

Oh boy, this will be long so I’mma hide it behind a read more!

Nico and Hanayo enjoy spending time together just fangirling over other idols and even rival groups. Even when they’re in college or as adults, they still hang out and talk about idols whenever they manage to take time out of their schedules to meet up. They’re definitely interested in Aqours.

Riko secretly enjoys being in Guilty Kiss despite the shenanigans she has to put up with from the other members of the subunit. It was definitely out of her comfort zone at first, but it’s made her more confident in herself.

Ruby admires Chika’s ability to push forward even when everything looks like it’s going downhill and may or may not have a little bit of a crush on her.

Chika/You/Riko are going out together. All three of them. It’s a poly relationship.

When they were younger, Yohane liked to pretend new technological advancements were black magic around Hanamaru. This is partially why Hanamaru is always so impressed with electronics and the like, since a bit of her really does believe it’s magic.

Mari is going to grow up and become a linguistics professor. Her classes are whimsical and fun and her assignments are along the lines of “record yourself saying these words” and the “words” are from the Jabberwock poem. She’s also the best teacher in the department.

Nico is the godmother of Nozomi and Eli’s kid(s), though she acts more like a pushy big sister than a godmother.

Kotori helps make clothes for Rin in her free time to feel more comfortable with herself and her body.

Honoka, Kotori, and Umi probably had keys to each others’ places since they just visited so often.

Maki’s favorite key is B-flat minor. It’s hell to read but it just sounds nice.

Dia is probably everyone’s hairdresser. Look at how perfect her hair is. If she doesn’t at least help others do their hair or give them hair-care instructions then the only explanation is that her hair runs on magic.

Kanan refuses to put her hair down because she hates how it gets in her face anytime there’s even a slight breeze.
